Tumbledown Farm in South Staffordshire

Love this restaurant. Use it for personal as well as business and it’s always superb. The daytime/Prixe Fixe is such good value during daytimes and what I love is they are not small portions! The cod loin is delicious as are a whole host of other dishes. Goats cheese is unbelievable too. Drinks are also good value and an excellent choice of wines and spirits. All in all, it’s a cracking restaurant with really warm and welcoming staff. Nothing is too much trouble, even at the busiest times. Special mention to Tonya as she is excellent and very friendly & warm. A real credit to you. Keep on doing what you’re doing, well done guys & thank you.

Very happy with the venue and service

Tonya and the team are amazing! So attentive and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble and always with a smile on their faces. We do alot of work here but also come with family. With 2 young children im always apprehensive at a restaurant but they make us all including the children so welcome and feel at ease! Love this place and will continue coming for many years to come.

We went to Ego at Tumbledown Farm Cannock for the first time today with family and friends and have to say the 3 courses and service we received was absolutely brilliant 👏. The Sunday lunch was tasty and well presented. Our waiter Kanye was a polite and humous young man who made sure our food and drink was to our liking 👍. He made the whole experience a very enjoyable visit. We will definitely be revisiting there again very soon

My first time visiting Ego and my humble opinion is that the food is good the atmosphere is nice but the service is impeccable. I particularly would like to highlight the service provided by Kanye who was very hospitable, beneficial and warm throughout our time here. We will definitely be back. Money well spent✨

Fantastic food and service. Steph was really helpful, friendly and didn’t feel rushed. We came last Sunday for the roast and was so impressed we thought we’d come again on a Saturday early evening.

Lovely evening out. Very nice restaurant, spacious with tables set far enough apart that it didn't feel cramped which I strongly dislike. It was a comfortable temperature, nice lighting and decor with a very nice atmosphere. We had the Steak Experience which was 2 courses for £20 approx. Great value, food was cooked and presented very nicely. Really appreciated the jug of water on the table. Service was nice, waiting staff were polite, friendly and even though it was quite busy it never felt hectic or rushed. The only thing that I didn't like was that my King Prawn starter still had the tails on which made for a very messy dining experience as they were immersed in a bowl of chilli oil. Wouldn't order this dish again for that reason but that's on me because I don't like messy fingers.

It was our first visit to Tumbledown Farm and we loved it. Jodie our server was wonderful, smiles and made us laugh. Even admiring my jumper ! The food was lovely, very flavoursome, hubby trying to deal with a whole prawn that was giving him the evil eye was so funny. Thank you so much for making our Friday one to remember.

It was ok. They found us a space but said they had staff issues and it was a bit slow. Beef Bourgeon was a bit dry too, staff were nice.

I recently had a friend from the US visit and booked a table. The food was exceptional and the service brilliant!! One of my friends said that "it was the best Pizza I've ever had". Tonya, our waiter, was great and, I reiterate, the food was excellent!!! Love and thanks to all the staff. Sue M XXX

Incredibly slow service. Food is Ok but very expensive for what you get.

Not as welcoming staff as the Chestnut tree in Nuneaton. Food was ok.

Food was delicious but it was an hour from us sitting until our starters arrived and then another hour for our mains to come. We did ponder as to whether we wanted to wait again for desserts but decided that as not many tables left occupied we would risk it. Seemed to be a kitchen problem rather than waiting staff who had to apologise for our waits. Pity good food took so long to be served.

Evening meal with friends from Bishops Stortford, enjoyed it all

Awful experience. Me and my girlfriend were seated at 7:30pm, we didn’t receive appetisers until 8:40pm with no communication about a delay on food. I can only assume a mis communication in the kitchen missed our order but again nothing was communicated. Before food arrived we requested our mains to also be started as time was getting later. When the appetisers arrived, Halloumi fries came out luke warm and needed re making. Our server informed us mains were also nearly ready. By the time we finally received our mains at 9:05pm (1 hour 35 mins after being seated) the steak was under cooked and again had to be sent back. I fully appreciate the demand of hospitality on a busy Friday evening but I felt we were neglected the correct communication from the team and the manager who should have dealt with the situation and taken responsibility, instead of letting the server pass on false information of unrealistic wait times. Happy Anniversary!

30th Birthday celebration. Party of 22. Lovely place and accommodating staff. The food was excellent. Served by Steph who was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble she is a credit to the reasturant.

Food was so average... I tried everyone's at the table. We had pork belly , steak and chicken in white wine. The white wine chicken was quiet good and the prawn cocktail was lovely with a hint of chilly. The pork and stake where boring and the soap for starters had fennel in the veg soap. Not good... atmosphere was lovely as where the staff

The front of desk ladies were absolutely appalling - left us standing for fifteen minutes right in front of them while they yapped away. It was really awkward and incredibly rude. The afternoon tea menu was set at £15.95 pp yet we were charged much more than that. And we were told the hot drinks were included yet we got charged for the hot chocolates. Drinks menu itself was pretty lacking. The communication is total rubbish - don't come here if you want to be treated well as a customer.

Food took nearly an hour to arrive for our party group. The food was decent when it arrived. Didn't feel the service was that good.

I’ve been to Ego a handful of times over the years, and while the food is always great, the service always lets it down. On this occasion, we booked for their ‘Wednesday Dine Out at Ego’ menu. On arrival we were presented with the a la carte menu. I asked if there was the set lunch menu available and was directed to the back page. When the server came back with our drinks I had to query again and specifically ask for the Wednesday offer menu to which she replied, ‘No problem, we only provide that menu when people specifically ask for it.’ I was quite shocked to be honest. It seems like they are hoping people are too shy to ask for the offer menu! Later into our meal I hear the next table having to ask for the same menu when they arrived. So it’s not a one off. Another downside is that once the food had been served we were forgotten about. We were hoping to order coffees and had to call someone over after at least 40mins of waiting. We then had to approach someone to ask for our bill and again for the card machine. So all in all another disappointing visit. Which is a shame as the food is always enjoyable. They really need to improve on these points and remember that they are still serving customers up until they have left the establishment.

They were short staffed so understandably, food was going to come out a little late, especially at a peak time on Sunday. However, we were compensated for this and the food was utterly delicious & all the staff really nice. We hired the private room & the guests we had attend for my son’s 18th birthday party were really impressed by the decor & atmosphere. It felt cosy & homely. It made my son’s birthday special & we had a fabulous time

Booked afternoon tea for my daughter, her bridesmaids and myself. We all really enjoyed it. Food was nicely presented and service was good. We will be definitely going back again.

We arrived at the restaurant and requested a table for two, but our request was declined. Despite the fact that the restaurant was empty, we were able to make an online reservation for a table almost immediately while we were still in the car park. We decided not to dine at the restaurant as it appeared that they were not interested in serving us.

Fantastic food, and fantastic service, my daughter loved the create your own pizza. We will be returning again very soon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Food was not great. Fishcakes burnt but waitress did knock them off the bill. Steak pie with vegetables & no gravy. As dry as a bone. Expensive for a lunchtime menu. 2 waitresses with a busy lunch time. They never stopped & were very good. All crowded into a smaller area which was noisy & struggled to hear across a table of 4

Sea bass very fishy an grey, like old fish left in the fridge for days.

Disappointed with steak meals, warm and chewy, came with fries and half a tomato, some other vedg or salad would have been nice, plates weren’t hot either, garlic mushrooms were not very garlicky!

Afternoon tea was absolutely lovely and excellent value for money.

Went for dinner and had another enjoyable meal. The fillet steak was fantastic and cooked perfectly. Maybe should have avoided so much peppercorn sauce as it distracted from the flavour of the steak. However, a brilliant meal and will always return!

A special thank you to one of your newest team members Kayne he was extremely polite and friendly with a happy disposition making our visit really enjoyable.

Like Ego in Galleywood, it is a great place to eat especially if you have to eat gluten- free/ are coeliac. Menu marked up well; loads of choice; very tasty. Modern, clean restaurant.

Booked on line early 5.15pm there was a time limit ok no problem we were aware. But we were bombarded straightaway for ordering drinks, ordering meals, then how is the meal , we had literally just had plates put in front of us how could we comment! We had starter then are you ready for the main wow give us chance. We accepted but declined dessert, typical though the restaurant wasn’t busy and we couldn’t get the attention then to pay . I know the staff are told to keep on top of things but it was very rushed I was determined not to leave until our leave time was up, just being honest, food was good thank you

Lovely food. Service was quick. The build your own pizza for the kids is a firm face for my son. Came for my birthday and wedding anniversary but couldn't use the 20% discount cos of being a Saturday only gripe I had all be it minor.

Very good selection of food with a great choice of vegetable dishes and gluten-free options for our party of six, comprising young and old. The three year old budding chef in or group loved preparing her pizza. Great service.

shame really lovely place food average.wine overpriced. toooo much cheese on pizzas on dough that hasn't risen. staff need to be more aware of guests. had to ask for things numerous times. 10% service added automatically but to be far said on getting billl can take off. just needs a strong front of house manager presence and please take the bell off the pass as that lady was ringing it like a sketch from faulty towers so annoying. staff chewing gum not great look . A few easy fixes but others do pizza way better the goats cheese pizza doesn't need huge lumps of veg and the cocktails were average. may go back but given a small growing chain hope they listen. needs a dedicated greeter and host point . Oh and try turning on the outside lights it helps a lot .

Disappointing visit and service this time … Booked in advance for 3 persons, table near window in conservatory wasn’t initially ready when we arrived … we were unfortunately settled near entrance reception desk and my guests appeared initially happy and didn’t want to relocate when a table was eventually made available and offered. The problem was a shrill loud mobile phone disturbing us regularly as people rang in to make bookings. … then the musak grew louder and became particularly intrusive and irritating. We should have upped and moved when the offer was made … but my guests were settled and had bags … and didn’t initially think this area was going to be a problem. Our initial drinks order seemed to be slow arriving and I looked across to the bar to see the tray sitting there … for a while … the dozy waitress tapping her phone … oblivious near the till. I had to get up and prompt her to deliver them. When the food was expected … a bit slow to arrive … I just went over and asked her to please deliver it as soon as the kitchen had it ready as we like our meals hot - she assured us pleasantly she would … shortly after I then noticed another waitress delivering what looked like our order … to another table …. the plates went back to the kitchen hatch … clearly she had the wrong table … 2 minutes later … we eventually got our meals … not as hot as they could have been … having gone on a ‘open air tour’ of the dining area. Clearly, some serving staff had a Tuesday ‘hangover’ to nurse … pity it was on our visit. We hoped to dine a la carte … and get a 20% discount … but Administration cocked up the website … so log in to my account was troublesome …and I couldn’t access the discount code. You need to fix this … as staff can no longer do this at the tills. Consequently … we had smaller portions … and left a tad hungry … At these prices … skimping on portion sizes is penny pinching in the extreme. … and shows Ego is slipping badly at being good value for money. Fix these issues immediately … if you want civilised customers to return. People who know good food and standards ….

I have been to Ego many times and I am always impressed by the food. I am on a restrictive diet but there was plenty of choice. Ochen was our server and she was very good. Excellent service is rare, Ego has managed retain the dining experience by having well trained staff!

Had read some mixed reviews but on our first visit i must say excellent food n excellent service 👍we had a great evening. We will be going back soon

Would most definitely recommend Ego if you like good quality well presented food.

Drinks service incredibly slow. Saw at least two other tables arrive and order after our party of 4, yet received their drinks a fair amount of time before we did. Food service by our waitress good, but pork was quite dry. My partner asked for no cucumber in her salad, was assured it would be removed, but it arrived with cucumber. Some senior staff members looked totally fed up and downright miserable. Was a busy night I must say, and everybody was working hard, but I just found the service somewhat lacking.

Recently visited with my husband and our 5 year old. Was greeted and seated quickly. Menu's and specials explained and orders placed. The food and service was great. The restaurant was clean and tidy and generally a nice place to visit. Have recommended to others already!

A lovely lunch at Egos. Our server was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, the pizzas are huge and as we couldn't finish them we were given a box to take some home. One of our favourite places for lunch.

Prices seem to have risen sharply since last visit

Steph was friendly, polite and cheerful, an excellent staff member. Had lunch which was lovely, gave a 4 star rather than 5 for atmosphere as it was quiet in there at lunchtime.

Main course was very nice and tasty however the service was really poor and we had to leave before we had our desert delivered. This was not a waitress issue but a problem wirh the cooks. Would have ro think before going again as this is the second time we have left due to slow service.

Restaurant is nice, food was good, service was very, very slow. We only ordered main courses, people who came in after us were served starters and mains before we had any food. The 2 hour booking slot is a joke when the service is soo slow.

Terrible! Had afternoon tea couple of months ago and food came out half an hour before any drinks. We gave them benefit of the doubt and returned for lunch for my birthday. We had waited an hour for food, baring in mind the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Once food arrived it was warm, carbanora seemed like it was microwaved, a film was over my aunties mashed potatoes and my sister wrap was dripping of water and was soggy and my prawn linguine had a pool of water at the bottom of the dish. Me and my sister got home and had upset stomachs and were vomiting. Lovely looking restaurant but poor service and food unfortunately, won’t be returning.

Me and a friend had afternoon tea for both our birthdays. The day before we had a call listing all our allergies, we don’t have any. When we arrived, we were asked again about our allergies. I explained they must have mixed up the bookings with someone else. After being seated, we were asked if we wanted any drinks. Feeling confused, I said just tea and coffees please what’s included in the afternoon tea. It took about 15 mins for the drinks to come and another 5 mins for the afternoon tea to come out. Disappointed, there were 3, yes 3, small cut up sandwiches and 2 hot items. There were 3 extremely small slices of cakes and two dry scones. No results of our drinks, so we had to ask. After 15 minutes of waiting, we had to remind them of our drinks, they came out another 5 minutes later. Do no go here for afternoon tea. And Ego, if you don’t know how to do afternoon tea properly, just don’t bother.

Went on the kebab special night. Got there early and enjoyed the 241 offer on cocktails. Service was efficient and food arrived quickly. This was a meal to lift my wife’s spirits after recently losing her Mom. The manageress bought her a complimentary glass of Prosecco and said how sorry she was to hear of her loss, which was a lovely touch. Unfortunately as the restaurant got busier the service got a lot slower. I ordered a couple of coffee’s and had to ask where they were after 20 mins as getting near to taxi pick up time. But apart from that was a lovely meal in a nice place

Had an afternoon tea here. The venue was nice and staff were friendly. The afternoon tea was average, pre prepared and a bit stingy. Staff were pleasant but never came over to ask if everything was ok or if we needed more drinks. It wasn’t terrible but I have definitely had better.

We arrived without a booking as we had walked out of another restaurant , the food was great and really good value. We were brilliantly looked after by Ava who absolutely made our night with her enthusiasm and cheerful demeanour.

Staff were very pleasant but service was very slow, food was very average, main dish wasn’t very hot and dauphinois potatoes were almost raw, desert was very nice though.
