Edit: After Ego's contacted me and we arranged a return visit. Food and service back to high standards. Original: Unfortunately the service has gone down hill over the past 6 months. We have been going to Ego's Cannock for years and only had a problem with service once before. After sending two compliments in this past week they have chosen to ignore these so hence this poor review. It is really a shame to see the standards drop this low.

Great offer ,we had amazing service and nice food .cocktails 2 for 1 before 6 pm was a very welcome bonus. Recommend you Book,they get busy around 7 pm

We went to 3 pubs/restaurants over Easter weekend 2024, all very similar on price, and this had the best food by far.

Had a fantastic evening here, our staff member (Emma) was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and facilities are very clean and tidy. The food was beautiful, the fillet steak was cooked perfect. Top marks given on our visit, will definitely see you soon!

Oh dear, where shall I start? The restaurant looks lovely from the outside but that's very deceptive. Starters. Halloumi fries. Wow! Burned to a crisp with hardly any chilli sauce on them. We returned then back and within 5 minutes got another portion, not burned but without any sauce. Mains. Bland, tired looking. I've never had a such an awful piece of chicken. It was supposed to be lemon chicken. I really don't know what was served and my partner's lamb was half fat! Dessert. Sticky toffee pudding, surely they couldn't get that wrong. Yes they could. It was all mushy and tasted like an out of date hot cross bun. Returned back to the kitchen and didn't bother ordering anything else. The only saving grace was the waitress who was embarrassed by the food and kept apologising. Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares needs to visit Ego Cannock!

Lovely place, food is great. My only small criticism is that it's always a bit cold in there, especially in the conservatory area. But don't let that put you off, just take a fleece!

Booked in for lunch on a Sunday. Food took over an hour to arrive. Some of us had 3 or 4 roasties and others had 1. We were lucky that we had a lovely server, she chased our order and ensured we got more roasties. Portions aren't huge but food tasted ok and was hot. Not sure the food makes up for the wait though. The server would have been given 5 stars (but I've counted the wait time in service). Have been before but not sure we would go again. There were a couple of big parties in and I think they struggled with the amount of orders today.

most of the food is decent but with some menu items they have a few mishaps. the chocolate and caramel tart tastes a bit gelatinous. please add new ingredients for pita bread as it literally was thick as cardboard and tastes quite bland. it was also a bit dark when we walked in so i think they should add more lights. the decor was superb though and was welcoming. the service was not that good so i think they could either get new waiters or train them better. i would recommend this place but only if you are quite patient. i am coming here again as the staff are really nice. overall it is a bit pricey but it is definitely worthy.

Definitely gone downhill..on arrival we were shown to our table but before we sat down we spotted a better one 2 tables over so asked to sit there and were met with an eye roll by the member of staff, then she brought ice in our glasses when we had asked for no ice and were met with eye rolls again when we mentioned it. The empty plates were left for 20 minutes before I had to get up and ask for it to be removed. After asking for the bill, it was brought to us but no one came to take payment so I had to walk to the bar to pay. I had the chilli prawn & spaghetti. It was tasteless, basically plain spaghetti with what looked like boiled frozen prawns as there was no colour from frying them and no other flavours. It was like a child cooked it. For the price I was expecting a tasty meal. I’ve eaten here before and it’s been way better but I do think it’s going downhill on service and taste but prices have gone up. My partner’s food was average but annoying when you can cook better at home or even a microwave meal would be better.

Out for a birthday meal and it was my first visit. First impression is wow, lovely decor and how spacious this place is. Greeted by one of the staff and taken to our table nice and quickly, ordered drinks but unfortunately service was a little slow having taken 15-20 minutes. We waited about 45 minutes from arrival to order food which was a shame as we all hungry and ready to order straight away. It was busy but nothing I would say for it to be that slow. Maybe a heads up that they are busy tonight would have been nice to know. Once we ordered food service did pick up and the drinks were kept on top of. The best bit of the night was the food which made up for everything. Amazing, really tasty with balanced flavours. I will be returning in the future as it’s different somewhere nice to visit The staff in general did seem very busy, and doing their best. Maybe it’s a case of extra hands front and back of house.

The greeter who welcomed us at first was very helpful and polite, from then on the experience went down hill, we asked for more drinks and waited over 40 minutes until we had to ask again and they brought over two lots of them. Then once the bill was paid we were never brought back the excess change and waited around in case they were sorting it however never bothered and we had to ask. Almost seemed too busy for the amount of diners. Unfortunately we probably wouldn’t return.

Absolutely horrific experience. Attended for afternoon tea in a large group. Took 40 mins to get a drink then almost another hour to get our food. When the food arrived it was stale and had to be remade even though the food was pre ordered a while prior. The food was poor quality and the drinks were cold when they finally arrived. I returned home only to have the symptoms of food poisoning, which I can only assume came from the stale salmon sandwich’s. Please think twice before attending.

Went here for a pre booked Christmas meal on 23rd December in a group of 5. The atmosphere was good and the food was lovely but the service was some of the slowest I can remember. Our meal was booked for 7 and we arrived 5 minutes early but waited 15 minutes to be sat, and we didn’t get our first drinks brought to us until an hour later. Once I said something the service got better throughout the meal and they were apologetic. I understand it was a busy time of year but our meal was pre booked so they should have had sufficient staff for the demand

Food is good providing you want to wait ages. A smile or any facial expression from the front of house might also go along way....

Work colleagues booked this place as a get together after the Christmas rush. The place looks lovely on arrival and was seated quick. We were a group of 4 and the table barely fitted us, which was made apparent when food arrived. Drink order was taken straight away 3 soft drinks and a gin and lemonade, so not sure why to took over 30 mins to arrive? We had pre planned our meals before arriving and yet took an hour from drinks arriving to main meal, which for myself was burnt- hanging Kabab. No staff came over to check on us during our main meal and yet we could see servers checking on other groups around us to see if they were okay. I was also able to see other hanging kebabs that people were giving and they were nowhere near char grilled to the level mine was and it was fully unacceptable. There was more onions than meat in the kebab and the salad put together and I think it was an atrocious for the amount they charged for it. I was that hungry at this point I just needed to eat. When they did come to clear our plates and give us dessert menus, they then informed us there was no cream so which meant some of the desserts were available and considering three of the members at the table wanted eating Eton mess. This arrived promptly. I feel that we will very much just left to it. Unfortunately I do believe we could have walked out of there. No one would have noticed. Even trying to get a hold of someone to receive our bill to pay took long enough. And considering this was a Sunday evening at around about 8:30 it wasn't busy when we did arrived at 5:30. At first a lot of people were starting to leave so I'm not too sure what excuses they are going to be given for the poor service and food.

I went to Ego for a rare girls evening out, I say evening it was 5.15pm. There was 4 of us and a child. We were seated promptly and the male server was very attentive, we had table water and drinks immediately. It soon went downhill. Ordered 4 steaks and a child steak. The 4 steaks were very small, I think the cow must have been on a diet, although the child's meal was bigger than the fix prix menu meals for adults. No sauce bought out for the steaks and when we asked for it we were charged extra.... Should have been included. The waitress whizzed past us with a quick "is your food OK" to which my friend said the steak was tough as old boots. Noone else got to explain their steak was also tough as she laughed and walked off. My jaw dropped at her attitude and lack of service. If only she had took notice our evening would have been saved as we would have sent the food back and given them chance to resolve but she clearly didn't give two hoots. The second waitress came to clear the table and we explained to her, she apologised then proceeded to discuss this issue with the first waitress and gave us "looks". I have never been made to feel so unwelcome by rude staff. The manager resolved the issue and she was lovely but I am afraid, the service was more off putting than the food. Needless to say we went home hungry and McDonald's was a better bet (and I don't eat there as a rule).

Beautiful restaurant, great atmosphere, food was ok. Shown to our table, took our drinks order 'just the 2 of us' waited 20 minutes and then our food order was taken. Another 15 minutes, still waiting for our drinks. As our starters came, our drinks order came. Starter portion sizes are good. We asked for another beer. Main course came out, chased for an update on the beer. 40 minutes later still no drink. Decided to skip dessert and just ask for the bill, another 15 minutes went by still no bill, so we decided just to walk up to the counter and pay. Shame really as I had high expectations of this place after reading such good reviews, Appreciate that at times restaurants can be busy however it is clear that there is a lack of adequate bar staff. Compliments to the chefs and the waiters bringing out the food though, food arrived in a timely manner. However probably would not return.

Waited HR for meal to arrive one steak sent back as too raw and checked kabab arrived and took a bite and further looked had to be sent back as chicken was still raw and had to wait further 30 min for meal to arrive and everyone else had eaten their meals, one server was quite abrupt,

Waited an hour for our meals, when they arrived the meat was seriously undercooked, chicken still pink 🤢 gave us a big discount but that's not what you want or expect on a family birthday meal. One member of staff was very abrupt and rude. Never again.

Had the lunch special. Beautiful food at a great price. Everything was fresh and great quality ingredients. Fantastic chefs made for a superb meal. Will definitely be back.

Meals arrived promptly. We ordered Garlic bread which at £8.95 was steep - the lunch had a pizza with toppings for less. the lunch menu was in a deal so we ordered 2 wraps and the mussels. Wraps were pleasant. Moules.were. a tiny "portion" served in atraditional pan which dwarfed the portion further!! so decanted them into the lid which was still more than big enough. 2 small slices of not the freshest baguette were served. All in all , this felt a bit "mean" and we left less than full!! Waiting staff in uniform were efficient and friendly. Those not in uniform, presume management were aloof to say the least. Especially guy showing people to tables. Live Ego in Lichfield, looking forward to the new one in Sutton. Won't be rushing back here though

Unfortunately I've had better for cheaper. It was nice and the staff were lovely and the cocktails were good. It's just slightly overpriced for what you get. We had hanging kebabs which weren't as succulent as you might like and the cocktails didn't have much kick. I would go again but only for the midweek deals or with a larger party where you need to please more people, as the menu choices were good.

Went for the half price kebab night on 18th Jan. Service was good, atmosphere was good, the food ? In a word awful. I had the Moroccan lamb and the wife had the mixed meat, all I can say is I paid £10 for each which was half price, if I’d have paid the full £40 I’d have been asking to see the manager. Maybe because it was half price night I don’t know, but both meals were a disaster..

I visited this Ego in December as a meet up point to celebrate my Dad's 90th Birthday and a chance for him to meet his new great grandson for the first time. I have an Ego locally which is exceptional and felt confident this would be the same. What a disappointment! First of all, despite saying we had a table booked for 6 as only three of us had arrived we were taken to a table for four! This set the scene for the service...the restaurant was busy with a lack of adequate staff.when we ordered we were told there was a half hour wait for food and offered 'something while we waited'...which we then waited half an hour for. This was followed by a forty minute wait for our main courses. We then asked for dessert menus which in the end I had to go and find a waitress to get some from her. We ordered desserts. By now we were at 3pm, having sat down at 12.20.the restaurant was nearly empty and staff had disappeared. I was looking for someone to cancel our deserts when they turned up. It was a good job we had a new baby to look at and family to catch up with. Positives... The staff were friendly, the restaurant was very pretty decorated for Christmas which gave a nice atmosphere. The actual food was ok although the kitchens were obviously struggling. Would not go here again. I'll stick to my wonderful local Ego..

Sunday roast dinner, what a disappointment. I've never had to hunt the potato before. When I found it it amounted to three quarters (3/4) of a potato. What a shock 75% of one potato. Ridiculous. Plus the carrots were cold and the beans uncooked. Seriously. As the the service. Something is seriously wrong the long delay which affected the temperature of the food and the whole experience. So contrary to the appearance and impression of the place. The one saving grace was that the staff were very pleasant and apologetic. They gave a discount on account of the extra long 25/30 mins. delay with the dessert. I can't see myself going back as this isn't my first visit and previously there were similar problems : (

Beautiful place to visit. We went with a group of 16 ladies from work and the service was excellent. The place is warm and comfortable and staff were helpful and on hand contunuesly throught our meal. Plenty of on premises parking.

We went for our wedding anniversary for Sunday dinner. Overall it was a pleasure with good food and wine. The staff were attentive,giving good service without being fussy. Thanks guys for a lovely Sunday dinner.

Fabulous meal at Ego. My first time here & I was impressed. Variety of options, from different cuisines. Andalucian pork was a ten out of ten. Great warm and festive atmosphere.

Even though the restaurant was busy with parties, the service was quick and attentive. Food was excellent.

3 of us arrived for lunch on 21st November and immediately we thought how cold it was in the restaurant. We asked if we could sit by a radiator but the waiter said you can but the heating isn't on. We asked why, as it was a cold day and it was November. He went away to get the heating put on. On looking around the restaurant there were a few people who kept on their coats to eat their meals - I wore my thick scarf the whole time! We were aware of the lunch deal that was advertised on Facebook which was £5 wraps and £2 off other lunch specials but we weren't given the 'offer menu'. When we asked for it we were each given the supplement menu which contained this offer. When we received the bill we noted that we had been charged the full amount for our lunches so I asked the waitress to adjust the bill as it didn't show the 'offer deal'. She said the deal was over but when she came back she had given us the offer prices! I said I was told on a facebook messenger chat with the Cannock restaurant that the offer was on until 25th November but she said no, it was already over. I still have the conversation on my phone. Unfortunately we have found that for the last two years Ego have not been as consistently good as they used to be. There always seems to be some issue with every visit now. The food is also very repetitive, and not very inspirational we feel. The prices have risen quite sharply and its not in our opinion giving value for money currently. It is a shame as it is a lovely restaurant chain but it doesn't stand out as a top place to go for us now.

Usually use the EGO in Lichfield. This restaurant was a convenient location for family to travel to for a meet up; not far from the Motorway and major roads, e.g. A5. Large car park. Staff were friendly, attentive (patient!) and helpful. Menu choice was great. Food was spot on; we all had main courses, including fillet steak which was (mainly un)cooked as requested; perfect. We will meet there again. Thank you.

Only whent in for a drink 16 pounds for a pint and a wine could have got 2 rounds at weatherspoons

The welcome was good, we were shown to a choice of tables. Once seated we were left to chat and peruse the menu. Once ordered the food came in a reasonable time. Unfortunately 2 of the 3 dishes were incorrect, they were immediately taken back and the mistake corrected pretty quickly. Once we all had the correct choices the food was delicious. Well cooked and presented. Hot at very tasty. Would recommend and will definitely be going again

I've been to a couple of difference Ego restaurants in my time and always had a great experience. Sadly, the same cannot be said for Cannock. Initial waiter led us to a bunch of tables and said: "sit where you want" He asked if we wanted tap water for the table. We said we would - it never came. No one came to take a drink order. A very miserable looking girl then came to take our food order. And when I asked if we could order drinks too, she sighed and said: "has on one done that yet?" I ordered a Ribeye steak. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked. I had to say before she walked off. I requested medium/rare - it was overcooked and dry. My partner ordered the Moroccan Lamb - which came with four tiny pieces of lamb within it. Desserts were fine. For a meal that cost £85, I well & truly expected more. Needless to say, we won't be going to this particular Ego again. In fact, the whole experience has put me off going to an Ego ever again.

Very disappointed. We both had the wraps which were stone cold and had no meat in them. We have had them many times before but grey had changed them. They were full of grated carrot. We asked the waitress and she said the menu had changed. This is obviously to make more profit. For £8.95 they just weren't worth it. We will not be coming back unfortunately.

The service seriously let the evening down. The restaurant was so quiet for a Saturday night so you would expect the service to be really attentive. Firstly, it took too long for our drinks order to be taken, that slow we ordered food at the same time and then when they arrived a drink was missing. We were never asked was everything ok with our meals or would we like more drinks. We then had to ask for a dessert menu and only when they asked if we would like dessert, we mentioned can we have more drinks. The same for a bill, we waited for ages to ask. Food is always great but the service really let this visit down.

Me and my partner came here for our anniversary last night and everything was perfect. The food was great, I am a vegetarian and there were lots of options for both vegetarians and vegans to choose from, and was cooked very fast, we were impressed by the speed of the orders. The staff were amazing, especially our server, Gypsy, she was very helping and friendly and she explained items on the menu and on the drinks menu when we didn’t know what they were, she was very funny and always knew how to make us laugh! The atmosphere in Ego’s was also very positive with candles on the tables and the noise inside wasn’t very loud which was great when we were eating. 5/5 would definitely recommend eating here!

Good welcome, but had to wait a while for the waitress to arrive as she was waiting at other tables. One of us had dietary issues which were dealt with very well by the waiting staff. However, the main course for the person with dietary requirements was terrible. The menu said the lamp rump was served pink, it was cremated. there were no courgettes as stated in the menu. The vegetable was requested and a piece of courgette was served which was about a quarter of one, not in the plural as on the menu. The lamb was sent back and when a new lot of meat was served it was still well cooked, certainly not pink, so it was eaten with the chips that were by now cold. My wife had also finished her main course. The manager was informed and she dealt with everything in a pleasant and pleasing way and suitable recompense was made. She left our table and went straight to the kitchen and made her views known. She turned a disaster into a suitable outcome. Well Done

Lovely surrounding, friendly staff. Great Sunday roast - beef veg yorkshire pudding roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese. Delightful dessert - salted caramel and chocolate tart and icecream.

Excellent staff, great atmosphere and lovely food. We went for a birthday meal and had a fantastic evening. Would highly recommend and will be returning very soon.

We were there for a family party and had young waitress attendant to us in the first instance. She was very rude and demanded we phone the people who had not yet arrived to see what time they would be there as she had another table to attend to. We booked it at this time to suit EGO as they had bigger booking later in the evening so was surprised when told about how other parties were more important than ours. I also asked for two regular drink items which were not available so not a good start to our experience. The party organiser went to speak to the manger and the young waitress was taken off out service and we were from them attended to with the usual courtesy expected. The meal was a set menu and was average, nothing special but ok. The final issue was the service charge added to our bill without consultation. We asked for it to be taken off but when we split the bill 6 ways it was added on again. We are awaiting to find out if EGO will refund.

Table booked for Saturday 11th October 18:45. On arrival we were immediately greeted by a friendly host, who took us to our table. Drinks were ordered when seated and shortly after our trainee waitress Ochen served us under the supervision of Gypsy. Both very attentive throughout, very friendly and humorous. Piping hot food was served, looked and tasted amazing. Full of flavour. Our desserts were delicious too. Thankyou for such an enjoyable service.

A very good restaurant and nice staff the food was average. I would go again as it’s a good place to meet close to the M6 and on the A5.

We arrived and was shown to our table where our server was pointed out to us. We had a long wait to order any drinks, she asked us our food order, we reminded her we were yet to order drinks. Food was very good and came out quickly. On multiple occasions my partner tried to get the servers attention to order another drink, as we had less that a quarter of our drinks left when food arrived - we were ignored. We sat and ate the majority of our food without a drink whilst our server straightened tables around us. After we had finished, we were left for a further 10 minutes despite trying to get someone’s attention for a drink and to clear our plates, we never did get a second drink. Rushed service and untrained staff that doesn’t warrant £4.25 for water. Shame to say we won’t return despite the enjoyable food and extensive range of drinks.

Our waitress Kayleigh deserves a bloody 10* she was brilliant and an absolute credit to your team. We visted on Friday as a last minute surprise for a 30th birthday and she literally went above and beyond.

Food and space are excellent, a bit of a wait for service and food service, more staff would help.

Bar staff and waiting staff fab, couldn't do enough for us and we were a big party. Lovely atmosphere for Halloween 🎃 food was lovely and I am really fussy.

Reasonable restaurant, just not worth a detour from the motorway

We had a delicious meal, the service was very slow, and they were definitely understaffed. They redeemed themselves by apologising and reducing the bill. We were OK with the wait between courses, but I understand many people would've complained.

First time we have been for Sunday Lunch and it was a great disappointment. Having gone during the week previously we expected better. The starter of mushrooms was undercooked, all of the meat for the mains was way over cooked and the beans undercooked.
