Chase Gate in South Staffordshire

The service was second to none, absolutely brilliant, the food was nice and the atmosphere was chill and family friendly. Will definitely be returning soon. Thank you to all the team at the chase gate

After visiting the Chase Gate recently for a "catch up over food & drinks", my husband & I were very pleasantly surprised. The food was beautiful, cooked to perfection & served after a minimal wait. The mixed grill was delicious & very plentiful. My husband opted for the 12oz steak & again didnt disappoint. The only thing negative I can say is the pub is "very tired" & is in desperate need of an update on the decor & furniture., albeit it wouldn't put us off from returning

Went for a meal tonight meals came all were bad, cold sizzling meal was like boiled not sizzling ,the burger was dry salad was none existent ,the special meal was cold dry and tasteless the place was empty so the chefs were not run off there feetso the standard of food should of been much better than it was ,the toilets were a disgrace . 1 cubicle out of order with all the ceiling all falling down . 1 toilet was full of toilet roll and wouldnt flush. And 1 with no lock. Windows was mouldy and the tap was stuck on and wouldn't turn off. Water all over the floor ,we used to be regulars but won't be going back

Very fast Service, staff were very friendly and polite. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the food, I had the full English breakfast which consisted of, one tough sausage, bacon full of fat, frozen hash browns, overcooked mushrooms. About the only thing cooked well was the egg. Meals for the rest of the family were of similar quality, doubtful we will be going there again.

Two of the ladies toilets were out of order. The only one which didn't have an "Out of order" sign wasn't fully flushing and smelt of pee

The food we had was good.Typical pub food but,well cooked.The night we went though, the women's toilet needed serious attention. But,as I said the food was good.

We had the two for £12 (ISH) special (small selection of about ten meals in this deal , that I believe is a mid week offer) I used Tesco club car points for the food (get double value when you change to hungry horse vouchers (keep in mind you get no change on the voucher and it's for food only so I recommend changing into £5 and £1 values to get best value )) Unfortunately the Guinness was off when I visited so I ended up having a Coors . The lager was cold and fizzy and for a Coors I guess as good as it can be . I went for the fish , chips and mushy peas. Was brilliant for the money (about £3 worth of club card vouchers 😅) Service was quick Food came out together Plenty of parking but it does have a height restriction barrier

The food was nice and hot. Didn't wait long at all! Came out within 10-15 mins of ordering! Had the mixed grill. Asked for medium steak but it was more rare which I didn't like. But overall not too bad. I would go again but would order something different.

Went for a meal this evening, the food was lovely, fresh and hot, quick service and the customer service we received was amazing! One staff member in particular, her name was Jane and her customer service was outstanding! She was so lovely, smiley and welcoming, she went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed! Credit where credit is due!

Love this pub/restaurant, come here every weekend, proud to call it my local, I tend to visit with a bunch of friends as we always meet up here to grab food and drink, the staff are always friendly and go above and beyond to make our visit a pleasure, food tastes amazing and prices and portions are really good for the value, thanks chase gate

Booked in boxing day for lunch waited 40 minutes for food had steak 4 meals came out cold picked a pudding off menu 20 minutes later they told us they had run out have been to chasegate before it was excellent service not many customers in there boxing day

Had Christmas lunch there yesterday nicest Christmas meal I've had out ever beautiful meal from start to finish staff were really helpful and friendly while place had a good vibe wouldn't definitely recommend to people

I have been to many Hungry Horse pubs, the menu and foods look the same which is expected for a chain pubs. But this particular Hungry Horse - Chase Gate is probably the top role model of the chain. The staffs were exceptionally warm and friendly. The heart that the staffs pour in, does make a different on the food too. They tasted so much better - I could not explain how, but the food was delicious and gave me a thought to make the same at home. Being a family friendly local pub, it is expected there may be children busy running around, but I enjoy the children noise, made me feel like home.

Food was great yesterday really nice. Better than it had been forna while. Only moan is the tables are looking a alot warn now guys. Might to to think about table cloth next time. ;-).

Myself and my friends use this venue regularly and always receive a high level of service. On our most recent visit we were served my the manager Zoe, who greeted us with a smile and was professional and punctual as well as brought our food to use not long after ordering. The food was well presented and cooked to perfection for our taste. Overall a great lunch and outstanding service.

Come to the chase gate for food on the off chance as the reviews are not always great and I can’t see anything wrong at all food was hot fresh and large portions! Staff are all so kind and helpful! Was pass though the area and was so hungry. We popped into the chase gate and the off chance there had a spare table. It was really busy but the staff was so friendly and lovely there found us a table. Ordered at the bar service was so fast seems as there was busy. Food came out fast and hot. We all enjoyed it. So thank you to you all. We will be back again!

All four meals we had was very poor fish and chips for adult was a child's portion burger bun burnt nachos no taste ultimate combo was very poor and badly presented

Had fish and chips was awful had exactly the same at gatehouse wolverhampton no comparison! Inside the fish was thin and flat and hard and batter soggy and some how under cooked in parts it baffled me.

Five of us ate at the Chasegate Wedges mills Cannock, the staff was very helpful and food was cooked to perfection and delicious.

Always loved eating here in the past, not sure what’s changed but waiting to be served at the bar and there was no-one in sight for 10-15 minutes. Then we ordered and it came. The burger was well overdone for my meal it was un- edible. The fish fingers on my 5 year old daughter’s plate was cold and undercooked. My partners plate looked great apart from the sausage that was raw still? The waitress came over and asked if it was ok? We smiled politely and said not really she vanished into the kitchen and never came back out the whole time we was there. Tbh no one did we could of robbed the place lol anyway we had a chippy on the way home. Very disappointed.

This place is absolutely horrendous. A really unprofessional place that does not deserve to be open. There were rats in the beer garden, the cutlery had food stains on it and to top it off one of the employees dropped a plate on my child and decided to not even apologise.

I decided to pop in for a visit after my shopping trip earlier that day. All the staff were so welcoming even though it was rather busy. I had a lovely scampi and chips followed with a delicious chocolate fudge cake! I really enjoyed myself thank you so much to the chase gate team!

We came to the Chase Gate Sunday 15th October. I was sadly once again disappointed. After having a few good times I thought I'd not let one bad experience put me off. I was sadly mistaken. We arrived sometime after 5pm, the place was steady. There were only 2 people working though, which made service and clear up very slow. The girls who were working were both lovely and accommodating. They were working hard in a difficult situation. Our food came in good time, and for everyone it seemed fine. Sadly, once again my burger bun came out rock hard. As a vegan the options for myself are limited, so I often end up having a burger in most places. But for some reason it is only at the chase gate it comes out rock hard. The servers response was " we defrost it in a microwave" well, there lies your problem. Twice now I've complained. I wont return a third time to find out if they care enough about they customers to make a difference. The place was freezing cold. The temperature has dropped outside so you'd think they would at least turn their radiators on. Instead the 5 of us sat in coats to eat. This also made the experience a little disappointing.

Thank you to Zoe and the team for a wonderful experience for our family breakfast this morning. Delicious food, great drinks and a very warm welcome - even down to giving the little one a balloon, we were really made to feel welcome.

Visited chase gate today but unfortunately my steak sent back twice but this was no problem they offered alternative or refund . Manager very understanding but the one that stood out to me was the young lad Aaron his customer service qualities were outstanding and...

Tables filthy staff made half hearted attempt of cleaning it,first choice of menu not available, second choice burnt food brought out then a wait of a few minutes before cutlery was brought ,table still not ceaed before we left ,would have stayed for another drink if t had been tided.

We came out for a birthday meal. All the staff were lovely especially jane! Thank you for all the wonderful food and for taking a family photo of us all. We really appreciated the great service.

Needs a re-vamp, food took quite a while to come (it was average and some of it looked microwaved). Lady who served us was friendly. Unfortunately some of the cutlery had food on. Whilst eating food, a staff member was in confrontation with an angry customer- when the customer had gone he was venting and swore about it in view of the other customers. Not appropriate, especially in a setting where children are. I appreciate that the man was being argumentative with the staff member and that is frustrating but it's not fair on the customers to see this. Not returning.

Walked in to a not very busy restaurant with many empty tables, asked for a table for two. The young girl behind the bar told us to "just have a look around yourselves and see if you can find a table that's not reserved" like...

We were a large table. They catered for the number we needed and we're amazing. The food came out super quick and was lovely. Would 100% recommend for large bookings. Shoutout to Jodie for being amazing!!! ❤️

Flipping rubbish, went there for meal with family on our trip up from Devon, service was shocking, food was appalling one steak was just gristle and sent back…no presentation and microwave “ting” grub….however the place was fairly busy so locals must like it……

What a lovely restaurant. I have not been since pre covid as had a bad experience and now I have returned I will be returning again amazing food and amazing staff.
