The outside area is filthy. The tables are always sticky and horrible and there are loads of dirty cigarette butts, rubbish and empty crisp packets under all of the tables. The staff clearly cannot be bothered to clean the outside tables and area. We will never attempt to eat in the beer garden again it's so grim. Also it would be great if they could be bothered to put the sport on the TVs outside. We have been here three times and the staff always have an excuse like they can't find the remote control for the outside TVs or that the TVs outside are currently not working. We came here to specifically watch the football outside with food as a family but the staff are so lazy they would prefer the TVs to just stay off outside. Another thing was that when we went to the bar to order food we were told that they would wave to us at the window when it's cooked so that we can go in and collect it. Apparently it's because it had been raining earlier in the day and they didn't want to slip over.... Most of the outside area is undercover, the staff are just too lazy to take food outside. The gents toilets have been out of service for atleast two months. All men have to share one disabled toilet which is locked. You have to take a key from the bar which is attached to a gravy jug. That key and gravy jug must be riddled with germs with everyone touching it to use the toilet. Likely to catch an illness just to use the toilet. Should not have to handle a dirty gravy jug and key just to use the facilities. This place has great potential but let down by lazy staff and extremely poor cleanliness.

This pub is our favourite, we visit most Sundays for the carvery which is amazing! All home made, the beef is to die for the chef really does take pride in his food and it shows! Wouldn't go anywhere else for food, in the summer we also come alot for the play area, animal area for the kids and lovely food served from the outside hut! 110% would recommend this warm welcoming family pub! Where nothing is too much trouble! Don't knock it until ya tried it! You won't be disappointed

We love this pub.Staff are brilliant and make you feel very welcome. My wife and I had Sunday lunch.Plenty of choice on the menu and food was delicious. I’m a big eater but didn’t have room for a pudding 😂. Staff were attentive and very efficient. All in all a great experience we will definitely return. Thank you

Nice place for a Sunday lunch after a long drive to Wye Valley from Kent. Nice ambiance with the locals and our roast dinners were tasty, overall good value. It was a beautiful sunny day and next time we come we’ll have a relaxing drink outside along the river.

I visited with Mum for tea and cake. At the counter with a cake I asked for a pot of tea for two and was told they only serve tea per person at £3.09 per pot. I said I was not happy to pay £6.18 for 2 tea bags and so ordered one. When the small teapot was put on my tray together with milk and a cup I asked for a saucer and was advised the cafe no longer provides these with hot drinks. I asked for a glass of water for myself which was free. Mum was not happy there wasn't a saucer, its something you expect for the cost of the drink and so no where to put the spoon which was left on the table. Very unhygienic and not used to stir again! Does this cost cutting mean if you have a special afternoon tea with your Mum the drinks are served saucerless. I'm afraid I will not be visiting again preferring cafes that have a better standard of service and staff to take my Mum.

My partner and I have been here for drinks a few times and I would highly recommend this place for drinks. It has a cosy country garden feel and just a few yards away from a beautiful river. However this is the second time we have had food and this visit took the biscuit for bad food and rude, unwelcome service! The middle aged bar lady has the customer service skills of a spoon. Considering her age you would think that she could’ve racked up a few years in hospitality however she should check her face as any experience doesn’t match it. We asked for food menus and ordered two fish and chips. I asked for olives as a starter and was told rather bluntly ‘we aren’t serving starters’ and also ‘you cant sit in the beer garden either’. We hadn’t decided where to sit yet but on leaving the pub the beer garden was approximately 30cm away so i’m not sure what the problem was. Maybe the waitress had a wooden leg. I politely asked if ‘no starters’ includes the olives - as I could’ve waited at the bar for a bowl of them to take away - but was flatly told ‘no’. The guardian of the olives had refused freedom of the olives for one day. After ordering we were told (again, bluntly) that the food would have an extra 10 minutes waiting time on-top of cooking because there were other people to serve first. Having worked in a kitchen myself I understand, however there were only two other couples in the whole vicinity so i’m not sure why the wait was so long - maybe the cook had to go down to the river to catch the fish on a spear or something. At this point we noticed my partners bottled cider was warm. In hindsight the fridge lights weren’t on so maybe the electricity meter had run out of change. The food arrived half an hour later and the fish was soggy, the chips were undercooked and the onion rings undercooked in loads of greasy batter. We diddn’t want to complain incase the miserable spoon held us captive in her olive prison.
