The best restaurants serving British food in West Midlands

This is by far the best fish and chip shop in the area. The chips are so moreish and the curry sauce is another level. I just wish I lived a little closer.

We went for the seafood night on Wednesday 12th March. Food was amazing,cooked to perfection, great menu choice and presented beautifully. Great atmosphere,looked after by the lovely staff. Definitely be back soon. Many thanks xx

We visited this pub for dinner having read previous reviews of the food. Unfortunately this pub no longer serves food..

First visit. Went for the £5, build a burger deal. Really pleased with it. Fantastic deal served promptly. Good friendly staff, value for money deals. Will be back.

Me and my partner visited the wychelm to experience the carvery on a Sunday. I wish I stayed home and cooked. The carvery was supposed to commence at 12.00pm and at 12.20 it still wasn't ready. I am under the impression having worked in kitchens and for environmental health before that caps or hairnets should be worn to prevent contamination on food yet the carver and every single staff member going in the kitchen was without this. When they did start the carvery the beef was black, charcoaled and was very off putting. I even heard several other customers complain about this. Then the carver whilst dealing with my meat request started chatting to someone about the football team. Even the bar service was poor the Pepsi max was flat and the lager had a weird taste that makes me think the pipes cleaned adequately. Overall a very disappointing visit

Had a great night, friendly staff, clean, very relaxing environment. Clean glasses(very important). Me and my auntie totally enjoyed the night.

We had a lovely night away in this beautiful hotel, with an extremely comfortable bed in a room in the main house. We had drinks in the bar before exploring the gorgeous gardens and meeting Charlie the kitten amongst the roses. Our evening meal was wonderful. We were offered complimentary Prosecco each (it was our fortieth wedding anniversary) and we started with homemade sourdough and pate which was delicious. For the mains, I chose the lamb which fell apart under my fork and my husband chose the chicken which was moist and delicious. Breakfast was equally fabulous, with a choice of cereals/juices/toast and we had the full English - one with poached egg and one with scrambled - all cooked to perfection. Great place, great food, great service from lovely, helpful and smiley staff - we will return…

El mejor pescado y papas fritas sin gluten de la zona. Siempre llamamos aquí cuando estamos en Stratford - upon - Avon. Nunca decepciona

Had booked for dinner advising them in advance of our food allergies and intolerances. Whilst we couldn't have the exact menu the chef created two courses for us that were tasty, excellently presented with great friendly service. A really nice place to eat if like us you are seeing a matinee and an evening performance. We also had lunch that day when the restaurant was fully booked but we found a seat in the lobby and our lunch was brought to us with no discernible delay due to their business. It is so good that we will ensure to book a table for lunch next time. A really extensive menu for lunchtime.

Although there was an issue with the card machine, this was luckily working when we ordered and I'm glad we stayed as we had an excellent breakfast and probably the best pint of Abbott Ale which I've had including Greene King pubs here it's usually mediocre. Brilliant visit to this Wetherspoons on this occasion.

Me encanta este lugar como un lugar para beber y estar convenientemente colocado junto a mi lugar de trabajo como allí regularmente antes de comenzar mis turnos de noche. El servicio suele ser ejemplar y rápido. La comida es agradable para el precio (aparte de un problema que voy a llegar a) . Sin embargo, el incidente de anoche no puede ser ignorado. Pedí mi curry habitual de los jueves y una vez más la samosa estaba fría/congelada por dentro así que le dije a la cocina a través de su agujero de servicio que estaba congelada como ha sido muchas veces en el pasado, ¿se puede reemplazar? El barman (que fue amable durante todo el tiempo tratando de ayudar) sacó uno nuevo para mí que estaba tan cremado que tuve que verlo para abrirlo. Como pueden imaginar, no me sentí muy complacido y pedí una explicación. El pobre barman inocente regresó y dijo: "Lo siento señor, y estaremos hablando con el chef, parece que esto fue una especie de final. ¿Puedo traerte uno nuevo? " Como se pueden imaginar siendo objeto de una "broma" que se puede gastar en un colega o amigo en lugar de un cliente de pago me insultaron diciendo "están tomando el p*ss" y exigí un reembolso. Tengo £ 1. 76 de vuelta para la gran actualización de curry. No es el mejor comienzo para un turno de noche de 10 horas. Es una lástima que voy a tener que reconsiderar si comer / beber allí de nuevo dado su conveniencia, pero puede tomar un tiempo para superar esto.

Absolutely awful woman (I use that word loosely) behind the bar....rude and sarcastic.... told us to go elsewhere if we didn't like it.....plus the prices were so expensive....... do yourself a favour and AVOID like the plague. I hope that barmaid loses her job.

We stayed at the Gaskell arms for 3 nights. The hotel has just been taken over by a chain and the staff are just finding their feet again. We had two amazing ladies serving us at breakfast. It was new to them as they originally just cleaned. They were fabulous…funny, friendly and efficient. They made our stay, along with the waiting staff in the evening, who were lovely. We ate at the hotel every night as the food was superb. Will definitely be returning.

Had Sunday lunch here today. It was very nice. Had roast pork, delicious, lovely creamy mash, roast potatoes, nicely cooked vegetables, pipping hot. Good Size portions. Plenty of staff all very attentive/friendly. Would recommend and will return. Recommend you book as very popular. Well done team.
