Had a excellent carvery this afternoon couldn't fault it hot food the beef wasn't over cooked great value for money. Lisa

I thought we’d give the food a try here even though the last couple of times I’ve tried it’s been very poor. This time was no improvement at all. The food took an hour to come out even tho it was pretty quiet. Dishes missing, several burnt and raw burger. Countless times having to ask for missing meals and food to be corrected. In the end we left some of the missing meals and cut the visit short. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and apologetic. I don’t know what was going on in the kitchen. The chef can’t cook the most basic food and neither can they time anything remotely at all. Never going back to eat again.

Called in for lunch, had a very good and well presented Cheeseburger. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff. big open dining area, i choose to eat outside in the side patio, a nice sunny spot. and there was a very big garden area and children's play at the rear of the pub.

Lovely welcoming atmosphere from the moment we walked in, very helpful and friendly bar staff. Service was excellent, food was perfect, many thanks to Beth for making our first visit a plesent one. Will definitely return and recommend!

Great pub for good. Called in for dinner, had a few dietary requirements and the chef ,Ryan, couldn't do enough to help me. With a good selection of beers, and a nice friendly atmosphere will definitely be coming back.

We tried the Wych Elm for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The pub is a little basic inside compared to some gastropubs we’ve visited but everything was clean, there are loads of board games available to entertain the kids and we received a lovely warm and friendly welcome from the staff. There is a large play area outside but the weather has been dire so we haven’t checked that out yet. The pub is child and dog friendly! We had been apprehensive to visit as we’d heard mixed reviews on the standard of food but we’re glad we tried it as we had a fabulous meal. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we came back again for lunch today! We have now tried a few dishes on the menu and so far everything has been lovely. We can wholeheartedly recommend the fish and chips which are the best we’ve had in a very long time.

Really nice local pub , staff are friendly but I’d like to compliment one member in particular I think her name was Beth behind the bar she was welcoming and easy to talk to , she offered me great assistance with what food I should avoid with my allergies , thank you Beth

Wanted a light lunch, so ordered a bowl of potato and leek soup. Was served barely half a bowl of soup. It was hot but covered in an unappetising skin. When I asked if that was really the full serving of soup the barman said it was meant to be a starter. The soup was tasty but consisted of only about 5 or 6 spoonfuls. That and the hard sliced bread served with it made the whole meal poor value for money. Won’t be returning.

We had a lovely meal last night. 5 of us. 3 had the curry and drink for £9 odd and my husband had a burger and I had fish and chips. All meals were lovely and it was nice and quiet. Lindsay ( hope I’m right) was very helpful. I’ve drove past this pub millions of times but never ate in so I’m glad we tried it. We will be back 😊

This is a good “go to” destination for a cheap meal. You get exactly what you pay for with no frills. The food always comes out as described however on our last few visits has been quite slow. Staff are always very friendly 😊

Way overbooked. Manager more interested in making money than providing a great experience. No room between tables, chairs pushing against each other and no room to get up from the table.Service extremely slow. Whole lay out with cheap paper clothes inferior and nasty. Completely lacking in Christmas atmosphere. Food poor quality and some completely inedible. One poor young inexperienced waitress sacked on the spot for getting an order wrong by a totally intolerant manager, which upset us.Altogether a bad experience I would not repeat in a place I would never return to. More in keeping with a motorway services and not a place you would choose for Christmas lunch.

We always love popping into the wych elm.Haven’t been for a few months now, due another visit.But their Menu is great, so many different options.The children’s portions are quite big, the children can’t always finish them.We did like the idea of the cake display for desserts. Not sure if they still do that though.The children’s facilities have always been great and their pub quiz has always been a hit.

Second visit with my mum who lives not far from here and she suggested it for lunch.Both times we ordered from the lunchtime menu. At £4.95 for 2 courses this is real value for money. We had mushrooms to start and the mini fish and chips main. We both have small appetites so this was ideal. Food was all freshly cooked and delicious. You can have a pud for an extra £1. The ones I saw looked fab. The staff are all lovely and friendly. I think we will be visiting quite a lot.

A decent pub for the locals, nice beer with ok staff so worth a fleeting visit but not on the 'to do' list.

This was our first carvary experience. We asked a few questions about the meat to cook (who served the food with glasses), he answered all of them and adviced some sauces. Service was great and staff was really really friendly. We loved the carvary, especially the beef was amazing. Also, ordered kids meal, the portion size was big enough and delicious.. I definetely recommend this place

3 of our party had a carvery which was fine but there is not the greater choice of veg that we have had at other carvery pubs we have been to. The meat looked of good quality and was plentiful for my friends. I am vegetarian and chose a vegetarian option meal which was ok but I would have preferred to have had a vegetarian alternative to the meat so that I could have had the veg on the carvery servery as well. At other carvery's that I have been to this has been available. The pudding was very nice with plenty of custard.

We can't fault Alisdair, and the staff at the Wych Elm. He looked after us right from the planning stage to the actual event itself. The spread was exceptional and he was on hand throughout, nothing was too much trouble and went out of his way to accommodate.

Accommodated 14 of us for two course Sunday lunch. Seated together in a quieter end of the pub. We had a mix of carvery and menu food. Food arrived quickly, was good quality and servers were friendly.

visited here today with my family for a carvery the food was awful there was 5 of us so it wasn't cheap when I complained he took my plate scraped off the rotten potatoes and told me to help my self to different ones his attitude was disgusting this is my local family pub and I will never come here again don't waste your money here for poor food and poor service

Booked table to, to arrive for staff to have no idea table was booked. Extremely loud children’s party. Over an Hour wait for food even though told 30-40 minutes, parts of the food were cold. Not enough staff on for a busy evening and staff had no customer service skills. Will NEVER be returning !

Went on a Monday lunchtime with friends, we all had the carvery meal and everything was excellent, 3 choices of meat, loads of vegetable choice, everything fresh and hot. The service was also very good.

Having throughly enjoyed many meals previously we booked last week for the Christmas lunch £12.99 for today. Today we arrived and overheard them telling customers there was no turkey available. We had our started which was very nice, then went for our mains. There was a dried up stringy piece of something which the man attempted to carve for us. The rest of the plate of food was fine, but the turkey had obviously been saved a while for us and was terrible. Ofcourse we will not be going back. The waitress asked about the meal and I told her how bad the turkey was, she said ‘ when people complain the beef is tough I tell them it doesn’t always come from the same cow’. We had three courses and two glasses of wine in less than 45 minutes.

Called in for drinks and was quite pleasantly surprised having read previous reviews. There is an area with a pool table and tv and a decent sized lounge with tables not squashed together. We didn't eat here but did see people having the Saturday burger deal and the burgers were massive and clearly being enjoyed. We also saw very large servings of chocolate fudge cake and ice cream none of which was left!! Having read the menu we are looking to return for food very soon.

It’s one of those places that is OK but lacks any character or charm. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and the two ladies serving were both very nice and polite.

Having visited this pub for many a year I was quite surprised when I visited with my son yesterday. The last time I ate here was June for a birthday celebration and the food was great but yesterday I was more than a little disappointed. The selection of food is quite basic and the portions were not good and served up on a rectangular plate which you would probably use for a starter!! I hope it improves because all the staff are lovely and friendly!!

After reading reviews we were very cautious about eating in the Wych Elm. We didn't have carvery but ordered off the menu which was very varied. The order was taken by very pleasant staff. The food was very hot and freshly cooked. We will be back.

Never again! How this pub has gone down hill since we last visited 12-18months ago. Tired, dated dark decor littered with fairy lights, children’s toy machines and a chiller cabinet titled the tuck shop selling colouring books!

I must start by saying that even given our last visit, I am surprised to read the most recent reviews of this pub. We did not have a good experience this time round however we have been to this pub many of times (even for Christmas Day dinner a couple of years ago) due to it being central to our family and so its easily accessible for us to all meet up for a meal / drinks. We've been there for christenings, after funerals, when my husband has returned from serving overseas, general catch ups etc. Unfortunately, we will not be back after this occasion.

Absolute disgrace of a place will never ever go to this pub again went out with the girls for one of our friends birthdays and have never been spoken to so aggressively by a manager his customer service was non-existent I had a three course meal there for my pudding myself and my friend ordered a chocolate fudge cake with ice cream (wanted hot as stated on the menu) when it came out the fudge cake was warm and stone cold so all we asked was could you please heat the cake up a little longer so it melts the fudge The waiter did not act knowledge me whatsoever walked off with both of the puddings later returned with the same puddings saying he could not heat them up as if he was to do so the cake would go rock hard so I said okay if you can’t heat it up any more then can we just get a refund please I was then told to go to the bar to sort this out I asked to speak to a manager along came somebody called Fred he said it was not possible for a refund as he didn’t have a key to the till for this to happen so I said okay can I please speak with the owner so he then comes out I asked him also for a refund who also refused to give me one and basically told me he could either let us eat it cold or he will haat it up to the absolute max so that it would burn our mouth and we would not be able to eat it by this time I was very very angry along with my friend I did not want to cause a scene but unfortunately his attitude and his aggression was bang out of order I’m sorry for the people in this pub who had to witness this tonight I would not recommend anybody to visit or even eat on this premises we were then told to leave the premises and we were barred i then said we are not leaving this pub until we get a refund he said well if you don’t Then I will ring the police I said go ahead I will just wait over here while they arrive two minutes later funnily enough he magically sends Fred over with our refund so showed himself up in front of all of his customers for what If the truth be told he never rang the police but I’m sure if he did the police would of laughed at him and told him to stop wasting police time please take my advice and DO NOT visit this pub the customer service is non-existent

Called in to this pub on the way home from a lovely family evening. On entering the pub and waiting for a drink at the bar was completely distracted by the manager and some customers complaining. The male manager was aggressive, and shouting, everyone in the bar felt uncomfortable and at one point I suggested leaving before we even placed our drink order. Not professional or how a manager should ever act. Felt so sorry for the poor family. Avoid at all costs is the only advice I could give you. Will never return!

Worst pub in the area. Manager and wife are the most obnoxious pair. Neither of them have a clue about running a pub, don’t know what the Brewery were thinking about when they employed them. One and a half hours wait for a meal when we were told it would be 45 minutes, when we asked where food was all we got was a sarcastic comment. And that was from the Manager. Feel so sorry for the staff that work there as they were getting all the flack. One waitress serving and only one person cooking in the Kitchen even though the managers knew there was an event on next door and the pub would be busy

Went for a late lunch with my boyfriend, ordered a burger and all day breakfast, my boyfriends plate was red hot however every piece of food was dried up and cold so had obviously been sitting out and precooked, my burger was dry and I couldn’t finish it, i wasn’t given a plate to eat my food?? just a small bowl with my chips and burger squeezed on the side.
