El menú parece atractivo. Me encantó el plato con cable de metal con forma de pez (me recordó a un artículo / bandeja de almacenamiento de metal del baño) con un revestimiento de caja de cartón y papel agrietado, hasta que vi a un miembro del personal rociar un cliente anterior que usó un servidor de metal con un spray antiaterial y un paño con un paño, no estoy seguro de si fue solo para limpiar, ya que el chico no había limpiado una silla alta con un paño similar y rocía. Dado el beneficio de la duda, los socios mini chips de pescado y guisantes parecían deliciosos frescos y la masa no era grasosa, pero las patatas parecían pesadas. Yo opté por salchichas y patatas fritas con queso. Sasusage era agradable y caliente, generosa cantidad de queso, pero las patatas fritas eran decepcionantes, algunas agradables pero bastantes trozos y afiladas terminaban en el fondo de la mía y parecían más frías que los socios (tal vez el queso frío los había enfriado demasiado) pero dicho eso, dejé la mitad ya que estaba demasiado frío, duro y pesado. Para mí, las papas fritas deben comerse calientes y de inmediato

muy decepcionante, patatas fritas secas, frías, duras, con sabor a culo, para ser sincero, las patatas fritas de horno en casa probablemente hubieran probado mejor. el personal ha visto jugar mal y ser antihigiénico, no lavarse las manos después de tocarse el pelo, hurgarse la nariz, etc. Sin embargo, el personal fue bastante amable y educado. No recomendaría este lugar si desea una buena comida. en general fue demasiado caro para lo que obtuvimos. este es un buen lugar para ir después de una noche de fiesta y estás demasiado intoxicado para probar la comida

Realmente disfruté el Banana Blossom Fish del nuevo menú vegano con salsa tartar casera y los pinchos de halloumi maltratados. Servicio rápido y comida sabrosa.

El menú tiene una buena variedad y abastece vie sin gluten. Solo tenía chips pero no tenían sabor. Sé que las patatas fritas son aburridas, pero algunas son tan encantadoras. Estos no fueron. Simplemente soso. No me molestaré de nuevo.

My wife and myself have been looking forward to fish & chips and donner meat & chips all day. As the Big Fish was the nearest place to where we are staying we thought we'd give it a try. What a waste of time! Fish was really dry, no taste and the donner meat was cut too thick,very dry and had no taste. The chips were poor quality and tasteless as well. What a waste of £14.40 - we managed to eat half of it and threw the rest of it in the bin. We're never going back there again and we don't recommend anybody else try it either. We are local and had been advised by a couple of employees of the company to try them out. Last Friday evening was an opportunity to accept the invitation with a 'take out' fish and chips. Our choice of lightly battered haddock and chips proved to be a disappointment. Compared to our experience with a competitor in the town, the haddock was 'thin' and uninspiring. The chips were OK and the portion size was acceptable. I fear we may be returning to the competitor next time we fancy a fish and chips meal.

An excellent place pardon the pun .while visiting the area fancied fish & chips for evening dinner and we were not disappointed. Large fish & chips with curry sauce served in a fish shaped basket. Lovely food & great service and staff. They should be all very proud of them selves and the singing was good to ,should be on Xfactor that young man .thankyou for a great visit. Not sure how this place has won so many awards. Not been in here for a few years and won't be using again. Food was average--the fish was very dry in places, it's self service with regards to cutlery and clearing away and the staff were busy chatting loudly about personal things with customers sat in. Will stick to my usual chippy in town in future!

Ordered a large gluten free fish and chips, got home to find a very small piece of fish in the mountain of chips. Went back up to complain only to be told it was a large cod but the gluten free batter makes it look small, they did offer to cook me a mini piece of fish but as you can see from the photos the mini fish appears to be the same size as the “large”. Won’t be returning again.

I popped in on the way home from work . A girl that used to run one off the most successful chip shops by the theater had a hand in this place , I believe her family were one off the biggest pie manufacturers ever . Well the fish was over cooked the chips bland cold and like bullets . I saw big bags of chips taken out of the fridge or even worse the freezer and cooked . Ok it is fresh I guess but not wot you would expect . It was my third time giving up naw . If you are that girl and read this contact me you shop is not wot it used to be .

popped in here on our way home from a stay in Stratford, mainly for the gluten free fish and chips (my husband misses it!). We both had the gluten free mini fish, chips and peas. I do like fish and chips but find it fills me up really quickly. This way, my husband could have my leftovers too! The food wasn't at all greasy and the batter was lovely. I managed most of my fish and a fair few chips before admitting defeat. My husband ate all his but couldn't finish mine as he was full too. We stay very close by when in Stratford so will definitely be back.

The worst place to have fish and chip. Very expensive. Poor quality. The chips were hard as rock and fish tasted bad. I would never visit this place again.

Llamado para el almuerzo, tenía bacalao y patatas fritas, que era una porción deliciosa y de buen tamaño. El personal era amable y rápido para limpiar las mesas después de que la gente se había ido. Comida servida en papel de silicona en una canasta con forma de bote cromada que funciona bien, selección de salsas y condimentos también. Un buen restaurante chippy en general.

Visitamos para una comida para llevar con nuestros nietos que son clientes habituales. A ellos les encantan las cajas de pescado mixtas, que incluyen langostinos, calamares, goujons de bacalao, etc. Usted tiene que esperar su pedido, ya que la mayoría está recién hecha. Es un poco caro, pero la calidad de la comida vale la pena.

Fui hoy aquí después de leer las buenas críticas y sobre cómo el propietario creó el lugar. Bueno, tal vez debería pasar y revisar el servicio. Rara vez doy una mala crítica pero estamos tan decepcionados. Todo el personal aparte de uno tenía caras como un fin de semana húmedo. Tal vez trabajar en Nochevieja no les convenía. Las mesas se dejaron sin aclarar y cuando uno de ellos finalmente decidió limpiarlas, él despejó 2, dejó el resto y no limpió ninguna de ellas a pesar de que la mayoría estaba cubierta de trozos de comida y algunos de los asientos. ¡Encontraron tiempo para conversar sobre sus teléfonos móviles entre el servicio pero no limpiar las mesas! Conseguimos servilletas y limpiamos la nuestra ya que era asquerosa. El baño también estaba sucio. Tal vez el hecho de no estar supervisado hoy causó esto, pero aún muestra una mala administración ya que ninguno de ellos obviamente se preocupó por su trabajo. La comida estaba bien. Un montón de buenos chips. El abadejo era más fuerte que el pescado, a diferencia del eglefino en la mayoría de los lugares, pero estaba bien cocido. Para nosotros, la comida tiene que ser buena, pero el servicio y la limpieza son tan tristes que no volveremos. Es una pena, ya que podría ser mucho mejor.

A very nice family meal was had here which proved better than the local Premier Inn. Good portions , well presented, good service

Acabo de entrar aquí para un almuerzo rápido esperando que sea la oferta habitual de comida rápida. Me gusta mi pescado y papas fritas, pero muchas veces están decepcionados. La calidad del pescado era muy buena. Muy blanco y suave. Bien cocinada y una generosa porción. Lo único que lo decepcionó fue la zona de estar. Sin embargo disfruté la comida y definitivamente volveré.

We visited with friends and it was very busy, we ate inside and the food was very good and well worth the money

Eat-In or takeaway chippy on the Maybird Retail Park across from the Travelodge, chose to eat-in as the seating area was lovely, bright and clean, friendly service, fresh chips, tasty fish, served up in quirky fish shaped metal trays! Wide choice on the menu and delivery available, beers and wine also on the menu! Would use as a regular chippy if I lived around here!

Good portions, friendly staff, value for money and been here many times. Eating in is a good option and freshly cooked for you. Recommended !

called here whilst having a drive around stratford , we all enjoyed our meal and service was very good , staff helpful . good location for the shops adjoining . menu was varied and although very busy , this was a good sign for us that there was returning trade .

Called in on the way home with family , second visit , just as good, Cod chips, whitbait chips and scampi chips, all were served by friendly staff and the food was hot,.

I thought the place looked ok so thought we would pop in and have a quick tea. The place seems to be staffed by half witts. The lad that served us was non smiling and had so many love bites on his neck, it looked awful. The other lad seemed to be in a dream all the time and when the chap came from round the back, I think he was doing the cooking. Well he looked like he needed a wash, some clean clothes and his backside was showing. Disgusting anywhere but in an eatery, vile. The food was nothing special, no flavour to fish or dried up chips. Won’t be visiting the place again

i have been to a few different chip shops in Stratford upon Avon and can honestly say they are only average to poor, while staying in a hotel accross the road from the big fish we went into the big fish and the fish and chips is second to none it was the best chippy in town the food is excellent

Visited as staying in premier inn across the road. The establishment was clean and bright. It was quite busy when we visited and some problems with the card payment machine, not their fault though. We ordered our meals which we ate in, didn’t have to wait too long. Gave us a large fish for a small one as didn’t want to make us wait. Food was hot and tasty, loads of chips as well. The price was reasonable and would recommend it if you’re in the area.

Brilliant. Food brill and fish cooked to perfection. Chipsychological best I tasted for a long while. Staff very helpful and really lovely people. The owner happy to spend a few minutes with you while you're food is being cooked. Often eat there when I am working. They even delive. Cannot be beaten.

Served McCain chips instead of the normal chips they have, and as advertised on their website. When I complained they tried to deny it, yet a member of staff walked through the front door armed with 4 large bags full of shop brought McCain's. I have nothing against MCain ships but served in a Fish and Chip shop is awful. Staff should of said before people ordered we have run out of chips we are using shop brought ones instead.

I travel a lot for work and love my fish n chips. I can confidently say that this is the best in the country.

Well what a disappointment. Just returned home from Stratford ON Avon. The smell of fish and chips lured us into this place unfortunateley. The whole experience was terrible. We ordered two cod, chips mushy peas and curry sauce to eat in. When it arrived it was inedible. Fish had clearly been sat in the cabinets as it was chewy, more like a piece of well done steak. We complained nicely and asked for the food to be replaced with fresh. Second lot of meals arrived after a twenty minute wait. Whilst the fish was fresh the chips had been reheated and were dehydrated. We paid just under £20 with drinks and we were so disappointed. Over priced for an absolutely awful lunch quite frankly. Never again!

Ordered from here and had the chicken nuggets. The nuggets tasted like fish, clearly cooked in with them which is disgusting considering so many people have seafood allergies. Put me off my whole meal, and that was before I even tried the waxy tasting chips covered in grease slime. Wouldn’t waste your time or money, Tiffin Takeaway is miles better and cheaper than this absolute sham of a place!

I came here for lunch last week for some chips (which were lovely, I'd give those a high score) but on my way out I noticed a tiny and quite dirty fishbowl. Unbelievably, it had two fish in it! I felt this was a bit cruel and I felt bad about eating here.

The prices are good, the food portions are huge and well done and you get a welcome and lovely service. Can you please sort out the fish bowl in the front entrance, it's awful for them and it looks like you don't care.

After ordering a delivery online ,the order came exactly at the time promised. The delivery lady was very polite and the fish and chips the best we have ever had. Piping hot too.

Ordered a takeaway from here. My first ever doner kebab and I wasn’t disappointed. Stuffed with really delicious meat! The only let down was the chips - they were a bit bland.

Staff helpful and welcoming. The food is very good and there’s lots of choice. All very reasonably priced. You can eat in or takeaway. I’d definitely recommend!

They do excellent fish sandwiches, especially the so-called Lite Bite. My wife and I stop in there about once a week, just for that. Service is pleasant and reasonably prompt. If you're in a hurry, you can call the order in advance. Worth supporting.

Local chip shop that we’d never visited so whilst shopping thought we’d grab a bag of chips, the place is next to Greg’s and coffee shop so never make it in but fancied some chips? Clean and tidy. But the service was so bad. 1230 midday no chips 5 in the queue and no urgency or understanding that people were waiting portions were small for the price and we now know why we always go to Tiffins about half a mile away

We came here on Friday 8th December after shopping in Stratford-upon-Avon. There was just me and my husband. We both had the chicken and chips with curry sauce.

Just pulled up after taking my 16-18yr old student for a fish and chip supper after I made a crazy bet with my Lads at half time we were 21 -5 down told them lose and your finished. Win and its eat all you can. We won final score 25-31. The shop was quite busy but it looked rather nice went in said any chance of doing me 22 portions of fish and chips. They were brilliant,not a problem sir was the reply. Spoke to the owner who was very helpful we got 10 portions at a time and only had to wait 5mins between each group of 10. Nice young fellow brought everything out to the coach and were back on the road within 20mins.

Really hit or miss, sometimes you'll get a good meal, other times awful. Our most recent one was the worst we've had and left us feeling quite unwell.

Found this sit in fish bar by chance. Reasonably priced, good portions huge range of food to choose from. Staff very friendly and polite. Food was hot when brought to table, cooked superbly and very tasty. They even have gluten free batter for those whose are intolerant. Wish we had a bar like this where we live.

We have eaten here before quite a while ago but were not disappointed, absolutely wonderful fish, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. We had a meal each and two coffees came to just over £19, to eat in. Could not manage a sweet afterwards as we were absolutely stuffed, would highly recommend this chip restaurant as the quality is excellent, fish white and flaky and chips as they should be. Mushy peas were, in my opinion how mushy peas should be, a vibrant green and stodgy not running all over your plate like some others are. Nice touch with the little British flags placed into the fish, staff were pleasant and polite a credit to the team.As fish and chips go I don't think you will find better, would we go again- too right!That's a BIG YES from us.

Been to the Big Fish many times and often thought about trying the sharing platter (around £11). Have to say we have tried it twice now and it is excellent value. Most sharing platters are really a large meal for one but the Big Fish version is plenty for two hungry people. We avoid the busiest times and have always found the service to be excellent and the staff friendly and professional.

Came here for an easy and quick dinner whilst staying in the area for workFood was absolutely spot on and portion sizes were huge! Really good price wise and really friendly staff! Would definitely visit again!

First time Ive had a take away here, but eaten here lots.I had a chicken kebab, the meat was nicely spiced salad was adequate and overall it was a reasonable kebab.

Come here regularly for fish and chips for an easy meal on a Friday night and it never disappoints. Great service, amazing food and large portions, can't go wrong!

Went here for eat-in dinner and was not disappointed! The selection was great. My wife had haddock and chips, I had the flatbread with salad and fish with sweet chilli sauce was delicious.

Although the building is a little tired, the food and friendly staff make up for it. We enjoyed crisp fresh fish and chips in generous portions.

Went there for a kebab, on the window it's advertised as a premium kebab. This is far from premium, thick, greasy slabs of lamb with bad artificial, terrible help your self sauce. Let's not forget about the post mix drinks, should be anytime refill. All in all the food is bad and the place is grubby.

I booked this fish & chip restaurant as it is just a few minutes along the road from the Travelodge and I wanted our American guests to try out our traditional meal. I was not disappointed and neither were my guests, ordering was simple, though we did have to explain mushy peas and curry sauce but all went with the cod and chips with something! The food was all cooked fresh and consistent across all dinners, I could not fault it. Tomato, Brian and tartare sauces were all available in big squeeze bottles and the service, whilst not over familiar, was professional and friendly. I would definitely return though have marked it down a star as one staff member seemed to need a little guidance with their own menu!

I travel the country a lot for work and you always have your favourite places. Well The Big Fish is certainly mine. I have been eating here since 2009 and NEVER had a bad or mediocre experience, it's always been superb!The fish is top quality, burgers and kebabs are fantastic and its a lovely place to eat. I think it's a family run place looking at the nostalgic picture on the wall from the 60's.The staff have always been good and will wipe a table or be attentive if you ask!Oh, and they now have a drinks licence!

We were very disappointed in the quality of the food here, the chips were, dry and tough almost impossible to eat, in fact we left most of them. The fish was a different story, very fresh and nicely cooked. We are local but will not be visiting again.

Great fizz n chips. Enjoyed the 3 course meal very much we went for the set menu Number 1 was very fresh and tasty and a bottle of bubbles included in the price great value will come again

For fish and chips in Stratford this is my favourite as it the only time I can eat fish and chips and not feel bloated. The people who work there are very friendly and the option to eat in or take out always helps. The only thing I would say is some of the seating is looking a little tatty and needs repairing or replacing.

Just left here 30/01/17 7pm and I've got to say I am disgusted. I got just over half way through my chips and found the hair, which was quite clearly a thick black pubic hair. Brought it to the attention of the staff member, who's reaction was 'urgh'...really?!?! Absolutely no apology was offered, and as we left the four members of staff working were huddled behind the counter, clearly hiding and avoiding any eye contact. I am so shocked and disgusted. I will be writing to the EHO about this, as judging from the way this incident was handled, health and hygiene is not their top priority! Needless to say I will not be going back, and as a local, will be telling anyone and everyone to avoid this place!

Staff had bad attitude, "can you not order so fast" was barked along with "wait", order was nothing hard. Floor covered with chips that had been stood on. Food was good and decent portions but coke clearly a poor quality substitute- 1.45 for a coke that was less then size of can!!! Food doesn't make up for poor staff and low quality drinks at premium prices, with a subway next door they should be doing a lot better!

Nipped in to grab fish and chips to take away. Fish was the best I've had from a chip shop, really fresh and crispy. Great portion size. Staff really seem to enjoy working there. They offer gluten free options and a wide choice. Definitely use again.

We had fish chips and peas takeaway. The fish was perfect, fresh, tasty and delicious batter. The chips were ok, nothing special, some of them slightly soft and the mushy peas were good. Overall I would say, worth having and not too long to wait to be served.

Two childrens meals - £3.99 each for fish, chips a drink and a toy.Quite large portions and I would say they could fill up an adult.Kids enjoyed it. Friendly staff.

"All chip shops are the same." Not true this time s one of the best. Skin free fish nicely cooked and chips that are just right. Held back from 5 stars as Friday night takeaway needed warming up at home. Staff are friendly and keen to please.

We were going to the Finest Catch in Henley but found it was being rebuilt so headed down to Stratford to try the Big Fish. We had seen it on our travels but never used it. Went for the Large Cod and were rewarded with a piece of fish that merited the name, supported by more chips than we could finish (a first for me I'm told). The fish was nice and moist and the chips OK. Service was friendly. The cup of tea I was assured was one of the best my wife had tasted in a while.

My first visit. Nice clean restaurant and friendly staff. Reasonable prices and decent portions freshly cooked. I had pie and chips for about £4.80,but the chips i believe were the frozen not freshly chipped potatoes. Really when I go out to eat even to a chip shop I want something that I can't cook in the house and, in all honesty I could have cooked this at home for half the price.

As an Aussie touring around the UK I have tried quite a few cod and chips from takeaways to more up market restaurants, but without doubt this meal was the best!! the fish was beautifully cooked, the chips were plentiful (my wife coudnt eat them all) and there was a variety of sauces to compliment the meal.We arrived after 8pm on a Monday night and the staff were very friendly and the fish was freshly cooked. This is definitely one place you should visit if in the area!

Visited last tuesday evening ,and we were warmly welcomed by Marina and the team. We ordered Lemon sole which was prepared fresh for us as we waited at the table .Great portion size fish breaded fish with lovely chips yum yum .The experience was truly lovely, hence this review .As a reviewer ignore the previous reviews of this restaurant as they are an injustice to it .Trust me and visit it yourselves , I promise you wont be disssapointed

Had roe n chips roe nice chips have weord taste to them. Partner had fish chips mushy peas. Peas grey fish dry n batter greasy.I m suprised as had been here few times but last two visits food wasnt up to scratch.I wont be going back here again

Fish and chip have never tasted so bland! The chips had clearly been sat out for to long their texture was dry and floury and they were lukewarm at best, the batter while crispy on the outside was uncooked and slimy on the inside. No amount out salt and vinegar could save it all. I will never go there again.

We had a simple lunch of chips, peas and curry sauce with a couple of probs of onion rings. Everything was freshly and perfectly cooked and delivered quickly. No complaints here.

Fantastic food and service. Food is cooked fresh to order in a separate fryer especially for gluten free diners. Gluten free vinegar and gravy.highly recommend will definitely be visiting again during our stay in beautiful stratford upon Avon

Have visited The Big Fish a few times now. Usually with my partner and 2 children (Aged 5 and 1). Not the first place that comes to mind when deciding on a meal out but have always found it enjoyable and value for money when we have visited and all glad we went. Obviously you can take away but eating is a nice experience in the Diner type setting. Cod and chips are served in a basket and tasted great and my partner had halloumi kebabs being vegetarian which she thought were great. There's a big and varied menu for the kids to. The staff are always friendly and helpful if a little young and inexperienced which means service can be slow if busy. But the food is worth waiting for and rather bring the family here than McDonald's just down the road as we always come out feeling well fed. Worth a visit

Had take out dinner from here, very quick service! Food was a little dry but was hot and tasty. Not the best chippy tea we have had as it's quite highly priced in compassion to some other chip shops in town! Gravy very watery, mushy peas a bit gray!

This is not the first time I have had a take away from here. Never would class it great but it was adequate.Tonight's was very poor. Bad tasting batter on fish that had obviously been cooked some time previous. Chips - no, strange colour and texture and like the fish not freshly cooked. It's not difficult to cook to order and produce good food. Fresh fish and make real batter keeping away from the packet mix.Chips are easy, cook small batches of realpotatoes regularly in clean oil or dripping.I won't be back.

Chips were very greasy and more like Chinese takeaway style chips. Soggy, bland onion rings and disconcertingly grey, tasteless mushy peas. Also seemed quite over priced at £6.50 for the above. Edible but probably the worst chip shop food I've had.

A posh takeaway, which you can sit in to eat. Think fish and chip shop cross American dinner.Had the "seven layer slayer burger" which was actually pretty good, the meat used was of a higher quality then I expected.Compared to Mc Donald's which is near by, you get much better food, for less money.Certainly, an interesting take on the fast food joint. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but if needing some food while passing I would go again.

Last visit wasn't great but heard it had changed for better and also that it was bad but my son wanted to go and so glad we did. We both had signature dishes. The cod zombie burger meal came with chips and drink and I had the fish supper sandwich which was cod and mushy peas in batter in a bread roll with chips and came with a cup of tea for an extra pound. We also had a mini fish cake each and curry sauce and the whole lot came to £12. Everything was cooked fresh and the lady serving was really friendly. It was clean and tidy and the food was hot fresh and not greasy. It was quiet as a Monday night. My friends that had a bad experience went on a busy Saturday so that may be the difference. I would definitely return though on the experience I had.

We decided to try 'The Big Fish' as it was very near to where we were staying. I also read a local review. It was an interesting experience, we wanted to eat in. We placed the order at the counter and found the table. The meal was cooked and served very quickly in paper inside a novel metal wire basket in the shape of a boat. It is a form of self service which means you have to get your own knife and fork and sauce. The food is very enjoyable.When you have finished you are encouraged to clear your 'plates' and cutery away, just like ' fast food' places!

We had the best fish and chips we have had in years clean tidy we choose to eat in seats and tables have been refurbished new menues have been introduced with hallumi for vegertarians deep fried mars bars and battered apple pie all very tasty.This is a take away or eat in fish and chip shop that even serves wine.Next time in Stratford we will be back you can even park outside the door
