The Waterfront Inn in Dudley

The only place I go for a drink. All the staff are great. If weather permits. Great outside for a drink over looking canal.

I have been coming here for a number of years, ive got good relationships with a few of the staff as well as the manager but today was unbelievable. 27 degrees outside, i order a pint and asked for a glass to be placed in the fridge/freezer for my next drink as we all know in 27 degrees drinks dont stay cold for long. The person serving me said yes and even asked… a San Miguel glass to which i replied yes thank you. Come to order my 2nd pint the person serving, after I've said a staff member has put a glass in the fridge for me she replied they haven't so i politely said okay dont worry about pouring it as i wasn't interested in a pint which would go warm in 2 minutes. Got me a pint from a competitor who had a nice cold glass from the fridge on this hot day and went to sit with my friends at Wetherspoons where we were originally. Got asked to moved i politely ignored as i didn't want a confrontation about a simple ask. After which i politely told the staff i would have a word with the manager as this did not seem like good customer service nor did i feel cater for bearing in mind i asked for a really simple thing to be done. The staff then began to be really rude and show alot of anger and even said i dont care about your cold glass why do you even need it cold. The staff also began to say she didnt say yes to putting a glass in the fridge to which i pretty much walked out as i could see a endless spiral of arguments happening. Honestly im really disappointed mainly in how i was treated if i was told we cannot put a glass in the fridge in the first place i would have been able to choose my next move but that was not the case i was told it was okay and then treated like trash after wards bearing in mind i’m a loyal customer. When paying a premium price for a lager i would have though such a simple ask wouldnt have been a problem as anywhere else i go it isnt. The rudeness from the staff as well as trying to say i was being abusive towards them when i asked the one staff to remain calm during our conversation as she was getting quiet angry and abusive towards me while i was getting my point across is unbelievable as this place was a comfort spot. I hope this issue can be resolved by the management and proper training for the staff can be implemented.

I've visited here previously for dinner but never for breakfast . A small group of us had a variety of cooked breakfasts, a sandwich and vegetarian breakfast options. Everything delivered to our table promptly and hot. All the staff we encountered (and I think we met them all) were courteous and polite. No complaints at all and we'll definitely be back.

Firstly, I want to say that I usually love The Waterfront Inn. My girlfriend and I visit here for breakfast and lunch quite regularly, and my friend and I visit for drinks and food when we can at weekends. I've never had a cause for complaint before....the staff are always friendly and polite, and the food is usually lovely. On Friday 23/2/24, my girlfriend and I visited for breakfast and were greeted by a miserable looking member of staff that we've never seen before. He grunted at us when taking our order and maintained a disinterested, monotone voice, which was not what we're used to here. The food came extremely quickly (literally within a few minutes, which we were happy about, but also a little surprised). When we tucked in, the baked beans were almost cold, the yolks on the eggs were hard and had an appearance as though they'd been microwaved, the bacon was almost cold and undercooked (very pale) in places, the sausages were almost cold, the hash browns were almost cold and tasted strange, with a weird texture inside. In fact, the only decent food items on the plates were the mushroom and our toast. Usually we both enjoy our breakfasts and clean our plates, but on this occasion we left items (particularly the bacon, as we didn't want to get ill for our planned day ahead). We didn't want to make a fuss, so we left without ordering anything else, and we won't be going back for breakfast again. (In addition to the miserable staff member that grunted at us when we entered, we saw a female member of staff bringing the food out (also very quickly) to other people, and we'd never seen her before either. It looks like the Waterfront Inn may have new people working there who have absolutely zero customer service skills or cooking skills. The usual staff generally come round to ask how the food is, but these new people had zero interest. My friend and I will be visiting one of the Saturday evenings again soon, and if we get the same poor reception / food quality, then we won't be going back. It's a shame, as we've always liked the Waterfront Inn, and it's always been our first choice....but if these are the new staff members (and this is the new food / greeting quality) then we'll be looking for an alternative in future. A total waste of almost £15.00 on this occasion.

Visited two nights on the trot due to visiting the area for a nice chill weekend with my hubby Ordered our meal no problem But ordering a bottle of red wine a different story when your asked on both nights would you like ice in your glass So obviously that tells .me that staff are trained in running a shift and cleaning tables and delivering food But ain't got a clue on how red wine is served So I will give all the staff on duty on the 1st and 2nd of December 2023 The temp for red wine serving is 15 _18 c So to ask if I would like ice in my glass does say STAFF NEED TRAINING But I was offered an ice bucket filled with warm water to heat my red wine by one lady staff member I accepted only because I had paid for the wine in advance But the lad in the blue shirt on duty parading round served us on the first night the red wine not a clue just got it off the shelf An experience we not had before with red wine !!

The food is terrible, I had fish and chips, the fish was burned to a cinder, very bad value for money, every time I go there the food as got worse, and the portion size as shrunk, I will never go again.

Wetherspoons continue to do a good job. This pub is opposite The Copthorne Hotel, across the canal. The breakfast menu is extensive and the quality and service both very good.

Visited here on a sunny afternoon. Sat outside alongside the canal for a couple of drinks before going inside to eat . Usual ‘spoons menu but NO Steaks which is a shame. I can only guess this is somehow related to the location of the premises . I ordered the all day brunch on the app which arrived promptly , piping hot and was very enjoyable . There was a good selection of real ales and all the staff I encountered were pleasant and polite. I must try and make it back for breakfast .

Yet another spoons , a Carbon copy , cut and paste kind of pub but it's Nicky set out , a good place to meet and with cheap drinks what more could you ask for , the staff are friendly and the place is clean more then ya can say for all spoons , we stopped off for a pitch of cocktail using the app to order , the service was quick and the drink was tasty so a win from me

Lovely spoons. All the staff are efficient and hardworking. Food always good. Nice area outside to have drinks. Shout out to Scott who is efficient, friendly and very funny. Great to see someone happy in their job.

Had the large breakfast plus a refill. Breakfast very average, bland. Was surprised at how tasteless it was. Barely warm which didnt help. Table nice and clean. Staff very good.. especially the lady wearing glasses..well done great customer service.

Went on a Sunday morning with friend, ordered two traditional breakfasts. Beans nearly cold, toast would have have more crispiness if I'd held it up to the light. The rest was ok and hot enough but quite obvious certain ingredients get put on the plate first and then left there until others are cooked. Yes I know it's a Wetherspoons, but food being hot is still a requirement.

Definitely the best eggs benedict on the waterfront !!!! even when its not they put it right straight away with out any fuss love this place for breakfast wont go any where else

I mistakenly placed an order to this Wetherspoons when I was in the Abraham Darby Merry Hill. I was told I would get a refund however having connected customer services I have been told this is not going to happen! So I am not happy! Yes it was an error! But come on Wetherspoons it was a genuine mistake! I visit loads of Wetherspoons regularly and I am not impressed with the way I have been treated over this! So please folks check and double check when using the app because they will not allow for any errors! Not happy! I tried to ring the Water Front direct but that was impossible busy all the time!

We stayed in the hotel opposite. Didn't really want to eat here but didn't have a lot of choice. However, the service was excellent, the outside seating area was lovely and the food was above normal Wetherspoons standard. Couldn't fault anything. We had been paying nearly £6 a pint in Edinburgh, nice to pay just £2.65 instead!! Cheers!!

As is the njorm with Weatherspoons you get what it says on the tin for the money you are prepared to may. Service was friendly, helpful as one expects. Environment was good. No issues with the pub, Parking and signage found confusing.

On a rainy October Sunday morning, as part of a visit to Merry Hell, we decided to trudge the extra mile uphill and upsteps, to get what we knew would be a decent breakfast. And indeed it was - above and beyond! Friendly staff carrying table-wiping equipment, making us feel welcome and valued as they disinfected our eating area. Our breakfast was cooked to perfection and served promptly, and at no time did we feel rushed. On a sunny day we could have eaten at an outdoor table, but we were more than happy to be indoors on this occasion. Five out of five, no problem!

Good location and clearly others thought so too as quite busy considering it was mid morning. Bar staff friendly and my breakfast was in front of me without any delay Would visit again

Just been in for a nice breakfast like always with my family. And duty manager has informed me we are banned as we send breakfast back as beans was cold so don’t say anything about food as you will be banned next and I am not joking I wish I was

What a great place to visit. Weather was really nice so we managed to have a drink by the canal which is situated right outside the front. We made to visits here whilst we was in Birmingham. The first visit we had dinner. Was the normal standard of food. Really nice and rather enjoyable. Our second visit was for a drink after a long day out. Both rather enjoyable visits and definitely would make a return visit if we was in the area.

Went to merry hill and my friends wanted to go to the wetherspoons so we went up the waterfront to the waterfront.there are a lot of tables out the front for you to sit has it is not really that big inside but the decor is nice and they had booths to sit in which is nice.the staff are very helpful and friendly and we did not have to wait long to be served and our meal was with us in less than ten minutes.tge food was hot and tasty and we had no complaints,

Like to stop here after walking or cycling down the canal. Cheap and cheerful as spoons always are. Lovely to sit by the canal, just a shame you can’t sit there without people smoking around you

Wetherspoon really need to have separate eating areas food good staff great and service, went in for curry club tonight , rushed meal to get out noise was just too much lads sitting behind me rowdy loud and bad language need to have separate eating area empty property next door would be ideal, nothing against young lads enjoying themselves but not when you just want to enjoy meal you've paid for. Don't think we'll be going again.

i visit this pub a number of times per week .i would compliment the staff and especially the manager .i am always greeted as an individual not a punter staff know my drink and always enquie about my wellbeing as a 75 year old man this is very welcoming.the manager always treats me with great respect whilst with a humerous quip.he runs an excellent pub.

Absolutely amazing place the owners and staff were fantastic and if you are a gin lover like me they make amazing concoctions. Will definitely be coming back again 5*

Considering where this was when we arrived for a "quiet" breakfast needless to say it was rammed. We found a table, the only one left and thought it must be OK because there were some many people there. I read some information about the App you can use to order from your table so promptly loaded it up and ordered away - what a brilliant idea. No need to queue at the tills just find a table choose what you want, punch it into the App, pay using credit or debit card details and wait. Sure enough the drinks and food arrive as ordered and pipping hot. You cannot fault Wetherspoons for value for money and we had a great start to day there. The App can be used at any of their pubs as well and I've since used it at the airport!

Recently visited this establishment for a business lunch. Nice atmosphere, food ordered which was served on time with minimal fuss. Thank you.

Every time we visit the Merry hill centre we pop in for lunch, but we never had a bad meal always a pleasant experience. The meals are cooked lovely and reach the table pipping hot. Staff are always pleasant and welcoming after walking round the centre it's nice to have a meal and a cuppa in pleasant and clean surroundings thanx guys see you soon

In a good location with parking. Reasonable prices and decent food and drink. Better in good weather when it can get busy. Recommended.

I was staying at the hotel opposite and crossed the canal bridge for dinner and a drink.

My partner and I both had burgers with chips and onion rings. The burgers were delicious as were the chips and onion rings. I would highly recommend this place for a tasty, affordable meal in pleasant surroundings.

Pleasantly situated on the canal side on the waterfront complex. On my way back from a cycle ride along the local canal I popped in for a quick pint. Good range of beers and ciders with nice outdoor seating area. I would certainly visit here again

.... but very quick service. We all had burgers and drinks, with plentiful portions, coming in at £31 which wasn't bad for 4 of us. The pub was a bit rough and ready though.

Even by Wetherspoon standards this place doesn't have a lot going for it. Mid week and unsurprisingly it will be quiet, unfortunately this exposes its lack of character. The staff are very pleasant, the food is ok and the real ales are "variable" at best.

Visited here after being let down by a hotel visit that should have provided breakfast and the service was very good, staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent too. The pub was clean and welcoming and enjoyed the visit here would recommend.

Went here for a works do. The bar staff are wonderful and can't be more helpful. We all ordered food. It came quickly and was piping hot. I always order the lasagne deal as it's such good value. Toilets were immaculate. Toilet checks upto date and checkback done for food. Have visited many times just for drinks. Happy to say each visit gets better!

Ordered a Drive Thru burger with a veggi patty, but wanted to keep the bacon, and baconase. Perfect service, fast food, hot and exactly what I ordered. Will deffo be visiting again.

Following our shopping trip to Merry Hill we attempted to get a drink in the pub adjacent to the shopping centre (didn't get the name) and the service was so slow we walked to this pub.

This is a typical whiterspoon pub but has good service. We ordered through the app and both our food and drinks were served promptly and with a smile.

After mooring out canal boat, we rushed here at 9pm thinking that food would stop serving, fortunately they served till 11pm, so we had plenty of time. Food came out quickly and was nice. They don't have the full menu of most wetherspoons though.

This place is surprising very busy for a Tuesday lunch time but then it is half term. We had the last available table for five people. The menu is good for a pub with plenty of choice, as long as you’re not looking for wheat and gluten free or vegan.

Saturday night and full to the rafters,all eating,you have to come early to get a table here,the drinks choice is limited ,but the real ales are well kept,actually so much better than a short walk to Abraham Derby.,where we find poor quality real ales.

After being let down badly by the hop house we found this hidden gem.Excellent food at s reasonable price, great service, will be using it for the next few days for breakfast and evening meals. Won't consider the hop house again, this is much better in every way.

Visited for curry night. It was packed at 6pm and we had one of the last tables. Had chicken tikka masala and son had a pizza. Both came quickly and were fair. It's not gourmet but for a fast cheap meal you can't beat it. the strongbow dark fruit was excellent and the best I have had for a while.

30 of us turned up this morning for a run followed by breakfast. They let us put tables together, set balloons up , put our cakes out (one of the runners birthday) and although food comes out seperatly because there was so many of us ordering at different times we didn’t need to wait long for the food.

Went there especially on Tuesday for the Steak Club. When ordering I was told they do not sell steak any more. Also out of white wine. I appreicate the fact they have a pizza oven now, but if I wanted pizza I would have gone to Domino's. They are not going to last long and are going downhill rapidly. Hardly anyone in there and those that were weren't eating food. Not good.

Whilst visiting friends in Stourbridge they took us for lunch here, they go regularly. The location is really lovely especially as it was a beautiful sunny day and we were able to sit out. Sadly the food let it down. The beef burger was so dry, it was as though it had been sat on the griddle for hours just keeping warm. Same goes for the chicken breast in a burger bun, it was dried out and so hard on the outside had difficulty cutting it with a steak knife. My friend had tuna jacket potato and salad, that looked very nice, but then you’d be hard pushed to ruin that meal. Table tops were not cleaned very well, they were sticky and needed a good clean, not just a quick wipe over between customers. Yes, I’d go back again on a sunny day just to sit out with a pint and watch the geese on the canal but wouldn’t eat here again.

I have been in here a couple of times now on curry night and they have not had any food on. Stopped doing Steak club and last week they did not have half of the lagers which are on tap. Dont know what is happening here but it is going downhill fast.

So we visit the pub which we do quite regularly and order our food first they let me order Chicken Tikka and then told me they hadn’t got it. Order the rest of our meal and sit down. We are then told they have run out of chips !!! Bear in mind 70% of the items on the menu come with chips - what a joke.

Found this place to have a cold, unfriendly atmosphere (day time). Tables all squashed in so forget private conversations. Felt uncomfortable. Right on the waterfront. But disappointed so won't be back.

It's a Wetherspoons. You know what you're going to get and it's always consistently good and great value.

Whilst stopping in Dudley we decided to have tea at the The Waterfront. I had the mixed grill which could have been great if it wasn’t for the fact that they burned the living Hell out of the chicken. It was actually burned black and tasted like charcoal.

If you want an awesome breakfast this is the place to come. Quickly served, refillable mug and massive portions.

I haven't used a Wetherspoons for a while, and as I have been trying to "watch my weight" I was pleasantly surprised to see a number of "lighter" meals and read that you can substitute a baked potato or salad for chips on all meals. The menu was very informative about nutritional information so this made life easier for me to make a sensible choice. Obviously as is always the case with Wetherspoons the value was exceptional.

Had the large mixed grill.. Very nice..size has been reduced a little Recently....but still good value £11.00 Inclusive of drink......

Its a Wetherspoons, so we all know what to expect. However, this one has haphazard service and consistently runs out...

Never eaten in this wetherspoon pub before but was not disappointed. It may have been because the place was a big quiet but food was hot and appetising. None of us complained in any case. All well cooked and the puds were yum ad well. Staff attentive and very quick.will definitely come here again

I work at a local radio station just around the corner from this establishment, so we regularly eat and drink here. I cannot possibly fault it in any way!

This is a Wetherspoons so drinks are cheap but I wouldn't recommend the food unless you want something quick and cheap. The location is one of the best and seating along the canal side is really good. I think the carpet inside needs changing but otherwise decor is fine.

I came to The waterfront inn for lunch and overall I wasn't overly impressed. The beer garden is nice but the inside is drab and the food had lots of replacement items and some parts of it weren't cooked properly. This pub is certainly not a must visit.

One of the better Wetherspoon's, in a tremendous location by the canal. Friendly staff, pleasant surroundings. One big no, no for me.....a pint of Diet Pepsi served in an Abbot Ale glass. The correct branded glass really does add to the enjoyment of a drink.

Modern building, not particularly large inside, great location by the canal and good for us as we were staying at the Copthorne Hotel. Had bottle of wine and 2 meals served hot and in good time.

Visited on a Tuesday. Nice location close to the Copthorne Hotel. Had the 14oz rump with salad and a drink, all came to less then £10. Good quality Wetherspoon food and good value. I would visit again.

We ate here on two consecutive nights and on both occasions we were very pleased with the food and the service. We found the prices of food and drinks very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Called for breakfast to find it very busy. It was only 10.20am and there was alot of people in there drinking already. A few others having breakfast. A few plates also left around and cups on the tables.

Horrible pub in a nice area. Customers are great shame about the staff apart from main manager. Take your money elsewhere is my tip.

If your looking for good food, value for money, and hot food (unlike its counterpart in the shopping complex where food is generally Luke warm), this is the place to eat, overlooking the canal, peaceful surroundings, gets very busy, specials nights that include a drink with certain meals, eat here fairly regularly because it's cheap and cheerful. Haven't as yet got around to trying the breakfasts but will at some point I'm sure.
