Mixed feelings about this place. One minute they allow kids, one minute they don’t. Have been in quite a few times on a weekly basis and not been impressed with the service (unfortunately some local friends like it for the beer). This time though takes the biscuit. Arrived and sat in the garden, within 5 mins my toddler was covered in dog poo. It then ended up all over me during my attempts to clean it off her. Absolutely disgusted. We had a dinner reservation in town which had to be cancelled because of this, ruining our Father’s Day celebration!! Thanks a lot!! Not the first we’ve heard of this problem. Will not be returning

This is a real ale pub now - no meals but good cobs available. Always a good choice of ale such as Abbeydale Absolution (a few days ago) and Thornbridge Kipling or Jaipur. Friendly regulars, light and airy, function room at back.

Two mixed grills ordered , cut into the steak and was greeted by the smell of meat that was on the turn. The sausages were probably from Aldi or Iceland as was the rest of the offering . We sent both back for a refund . The table also ordered two fish and chips which were 90% batter one got sent back the other got what little fish there was from it and left everything else . Will never go back .

This is our second visit to the white lion sedgley, West Midlands. We live in Scotland but our family live here in the West Midlands. The pub doesn't look much from out side but the staff are friendly and welcoming. The dining area is at the back of the pub it is very spacious and modern. The food is all home cooked and the portions are very generous. Could not fault the prices either, the landlord is very friendly and always happy to help.

We Went for a Sunday lunch today and I am sad to say that we were really disappointed. The place is really clean and looks newly refurbished/well maintained. The bar staff/waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, however, alarm bells started to ring when we walked in at 1pm on a Sunday to find ourselves the only 2 people in the restaurant. Not surprisingly then, The food, a traditional Sunday lunch, was a big disappointment. The food tasted like it was cooked in advance and then microwaved to within an inch of its life. The carrots weren't peeled and looked dirty/grey and shrivelled up round the edges, the peas were varying shades of green, indicating that some were fresh and some were old, the pork was very fatty and chewy, the cabbage had an aroma of refrigerators. Mashed potatoes were quite lumpy, possibly because the incorrect variety of potato was used. It was frustrating because I just wanted to go into the kitchen and teach them how easy and simple it is to do a better job, the manager/owner was a top bloke - nothing was too much trouble and it saddens me that the people in the kitchen are getting paid to practically destroy this poor blokes business, because at the end of the day, serving food like this is only going to end up one way, and that's with the restaurant's doors firmly, and permanently closed. I really don't like leaving negative reviews but If I was in charge I would fully appreciate all feedback. Good and bad. We won't be coming back any time soon but I do wish you well with your business in the future.

This is our local pub and we couldn't be happier with it. We eat here as a couple and as an extended family. All family birthdays end up being celebrated here. The staff are great and Keith and Lynn are traditional welcoming hosts. We have eaten most things from the menu and have never been disappointed. The range of beer is excellent and expertly kept. When we are dining as a party of 4 or more, we always do them the courtesy of booking in advance especially as it is very popular. Lynn and Keith go out of their way to ensure you have great food, great beer and a friendly welcome. Keep it up guys.

This is our local and we decided to pop in for lunch .. we had the steak & Stilton pie, venison and red wine pie and cheese and potato pie. I cannot fault the food .. all pies were delicious and I understand they're home made. The portions are very generous too. The only criticism I would make is that no one asked us if our food is ok but that's just me being picky. Would most definitely recommend the White Lion to anyone.

Ordered the Lasagne as friends had tried it and said it was good, It was a big portion in its own dish served with chips salad and garlic bread . Friendly pub , if you want to go at the weekend or Sunday's you would be best booking in advance as this gem has been found out and is very popular

Visited for the 1st time on Saturday and booked to return before we left. This place is excellent. I always think fish and chips is a good test of standard and mine was very good indeed. Dad had Mexican chicken which was a huge chicken topped with chilli con carne and cheese, his verdict was marvellous!Mom had gammon which she too, found to be magnificent. The real ale was spot on and service very professional and welcoming. See you again real soon!

We are lucky enough to call The White Lion our local. My husband loves his real ale & he is never disappointed. Keith is meticulous with the quality and choice of ales, so we're pretty regular customers! The food is really good too, Lynn offers a great choice from snacks & life bites to excellent steaks & grills. They are great hosts & whether the pub/dining room is busy or not, they always make time for you.

This pub is a local to us but It has never appealed to me. Walking passed this pub frequently looking in it never looked busy. Although the car park looks busy on the evening. I heard nothing but good comments so thought we would try it lunchtime today.Pulling onto empty car park wasn't sure what to expect. Walked into a lovely warm looking but empty pub. Staff behind bar advised food was served at the back of the pub (now I know why it looked empty most of the time) Walked into back extension part. Looked lovely, clean beautiful layed out tables. Very impressed. Only one other party in but it was lunchtime. Menu was good, starters and Mains looked quite a varied selection and not too expensive although not cheap cheap. Had Venison pie with red wine and lunchtime cod.I have never tried Venison before so it was a gamble. Didn't have to wait too long for food it came out really fresh. Pie had puff pastry on top, proper chunky chips with peas. Pie was beautiful plenty of meat and lovely flavour red wine sauce. Although I did enjoy the Venison I still prefer steak but that's just my personal taste. Nothing to do with the chef. Loads of red wine sauce and the chunky chips to dip into as well. Would definitely have another pie but try my steak pie next. Cod came with chunky chips, salad and peas. We asked for the lunchtime one although you can have larger one if preferred. It was a lovely size still large enough for us. It was a light crisp batter which was lovely. Fish tasted beautiful and white. Chips again great with fresh salad and peas. Both meals were lovely, hot, fresh and plenty of itI can honestly say this definitely won't be the last time we visit this pub. I will look at this little gem pub differently now. The pub sells real ales as well. This room I walk past at the front is only for drinking so I might even chance that now.I would definitely recommend this place and hope you enjoy is as much as we did.

White Lion Sedgley << NIGHTMARE We had a sunday lunch on 23rd August which was massively over sized. Lugs of food mounted the plate, piles of it, there obviously no concerns to food waist. There was no choice, you wasnt able to swop items or change anything, or opt not to have anything. (No carrots you"ll have to take them off your self.)Despite this we caused no problem just ordered an ate our food. It was poor quality clearly microwaved. Some of our puddings came out wrong we ordered cheese cake and a different one to what was advertised came out, we was told they couldn't just change it we was to go back to the bar an re-order! Like really its there mistake. To top things off the rude owner approaches our children oiiii ing them to get in from the garden. As he didnt want them out there. When asking what the problem was in a polite manor we was shouted at in front of our children and told "its my pub ill do what i want i dont want kids out there they will ruin my carpet " an told to leave after spending £166 . Bloody discussing, the food wasn't great , microwaved rubbish And it no suitable for children, not child friendly place Stay away

This is a no-frills restaurant situated jus about 1/2 mile from Sedgley centre. There is good public transport from Wolverhampton and Dudley for those who want to sample the real ale without driving. The food is traditional pub-grub with the usual exotic additions such as curry. The quality is very good and the portions more than ample. My favourite at the White Lion is the cod in batter. This might seem a very trite recommendation but there are pubs that cannot provide good fried cod in batter and serve 'fries' rather than chips. The White Lion cod is proper cod, white as if it had been washed in Persil, beautifully cooked with crisp, thin batter. I can similarly recommend the gammon. I look through the menu when we visit the White Lion and think "I'll try something different this time" but inevitably end up with the cod or the gammon.Beer and food prices are excellent.

Been here a fair few times and the meals are always excellent value for money. Last night was the first time I'd visited since the opening of their new dining area - food being served there now rather than in the existing pub area, which is now dedicated to those wanting to drink but not dine. First impressions of the restaurant weren't good as there was a rather large and noisy party in there. However we either adjusted or they quietened down. Food took a long time to come which was part due to it all being freshly cooked and part being overstretched in the kitchen. Getting annoyed by the wait I actually said 'I don't think I'd bother coming here again on tonight's performance'. But then the food turned up just in the nick of time ....and it was absolutely delicious. There were 7 in our party and everyone gave their chosen dish praise. Perfectly cooked steaks, delicious chips, fresh salads, and my lasagne was fantastic. I heard a man on the next table say the steak and ale pie was the best he'd ever had. It probably should be 4 stars because of the long wait but the food was so good and the staff are so courteous that I decided to overlook it and trust that it's minor teething problems as they adjust to catering for more people. With food that good they're going to have to get used to being even busier. Good to see it doing so well - they deserve it.
