Thank you everyone for excellent food, great service and an evening enjoyed by the 10 members of the Bayliss family.

A peaceful country pub that is cosy and offers great value food and drink. Staff were all friendly throughout. I would visit again.

We visit here every week, the staff are very friendly, food is great and good value for money.

Me and my daughter was ill from here I had fish she had nuggets the others we went with wasn't ill just had Tummy ache. They didn't have the grill working due to gas leak however never stated on website otherwise I'd of gone else where, they did put notices up in pub about it but too late for us to go elsewhere as the time. Stated didn't want certain chips then they ignored. Food wasn't up to standards, when food did arrive the lady touched a bit of the food with her hand what I removed as that was disgusting to say the least) Didn't bother saying anything to server as we would of waited longer than what we originally did that was 30+ minutes and I don't need any confrontation with kids being present. Will be dodging this pub, used to be amazing but has sadly been going down hill. Such a shame. We also asked to be in a high backed seats due to disability and they gave normal chairs what didn't do the lady any good.

As always a warm welcome by the staff we were greeted by name and shown without delay to our table

The service was fab, extremely friendly staff. The food was piping hot and portions were very generous. Overall delightful visit for a cheeky weeknight dinner 👍🏻

The service is friendly and warm, the food is always lovely, and we enjoy the whole ‘vibe’ of the pub.

Fab place , staff were great and the meals were great value - 2 for £13 was a bargain , will certainly return and recommend to family and friends

We have lunch at The Black Horse, Illey Lane every Wednesday. We prebook our table and have extremely good service from the staff. Food is very good and reasonably priced. The Black Horse offers, via the app, are very good and allows us to come on a weekly basis. We arrived this Wednesday to find our usual wine and glasses waiting for us on our prebooked table, which was a very nice welcoming thought. We would strongly recommend The Black Horse to anyone. The pub offered the usual pub grub from a mainly similar menu on offer these days. Traditional meals, burgers & steaks. Prices are very reasonable compared to the bistro places. You can download the app & get offers sent to you. Service was efficient from going to the bar to place your order. The staff were very friendly & engaging. Desserts were large & very good value for money. There is a good selection of beers & the bar staff were quick to serve people.

I thurt the chicken Wos dry in the flatbread rap but the fries were good

Over all a nice place, quite, nice food. Food did take a while to come out, but when it did it was hot and fresh.

Really love this place me an my wife pop here for the fish and chips and allways come here staff are lovely and polite and been our local since 😊

We had not been there for a while and when we went in we had to waite a while to get served the inside did not look upto there normal standards the glasses weren't clean they had to stop the dish washer to get me a cup and the tables outside didn't look clean and the floor had not been swept in my opinion I think the standards have dropped a bit I hope they can turn it around because it is a lovely pub and it is usually busy what little staff were on looked rushed off there feet doing several jobs

We sat at a table which smelt heavily of damp. One chair had a big chunk missing out of the padding. Food took over 45 minutes to arrive. My meal was so dry I left most of it. My son's burger was too spicy despite asking if it was as he wouldn't eat it. Drinks were nice. We didn't stay for dessert as we were a bit disappointed with the food. Staff were nice and friendly.

I used to enjoy coming here but not so much anymore. Sat to the right of the door with my family of six. Another table was occupied shortly after infront of us and we just couldn’t move. Incredibly uncomfortable for us My daughter and I ordered the fish and chips. It was utterly disgusting. My sister in law had a bowl of salad that had to be left due to it looking worse for wear and my niece and nephew barely touched their meals because they said it didn’t taste nice The male member of staff, whom could be the manager, is rather straight faced and always appears hostile I feel I will not be returning

Chicken on Gyros kebabs was cold and dry. Chicken curry was tasteless.

Awful staff. Very rude. Food was worst quality I have had. Cheap processed food, not even warmed up. Still cold. See Trip adviser.

Food was lovely, very tasty indeed, it was very busy but waitresses held their own. We had a barman who looked after us during our time here, what a asset he is, he made us (5women) feel relaxed, he was just an all round good barman. Would highly recommend 👌

Went for a Birthday meal, place was heaving, service wasn't compromised. Foods good, and red hot. What more do you want?

Earlier today, my husband and I went for lunch at the Black Horse, Illey. The food was tasty and hot. The lady who served at our table was very pleasant and helpful.

Food was lovely and with 40% off mains you simply couldn’t beat the value for money. Nice pub in nice location

Great Food and Great service lovely atmosphere

Previously visiting the black horse in northfield and having a pleasent experience there, I was rather excited to try this Black horse, however I was VERY dissapointed by the lack of effort this restaurant has to offer. The enviroment was like no where I have ever been before, It was smelly, stinky, it quite frankly smelt like a SEWAGE. It was more so a pub than a place to eat, which I found highly suspicious, seeing so many advertisments outside the building of how lovley the food is there. The food was okay, but I couldnt fully enjoy it because I was pestered by a fly every 5 seconds. It put me off my food and the place all together, I will not be returning, and if you are hygienic you wouldnt too.

My family & I have been using the black horse for many years .. we have always received excellent service from staff & have never had a bad meal .. Being able to bring our dogs to the pub is another bonus which is why we keep coming back .. Thank you to all the staff

Cheap and cheerful, service quick and food just your normal pub grub, you used to get a small bit of salad with the starters but you don't anymore.

Lovely quiet place for a meal. The food was delicious and we had the best service. Our favourite place.

Absolutely love this place went this evening for a family meal all the staff are very welcoming and go the extra mile they helped me hide a birthday cake for my daughter and served it to the table with candles and sparklers that we had taken with us. Highly recommend the food and service big thank you to Kevin (who makes the best cappuccino ever ) and the rest of the staff

Great night even though the place was full to the brim , we came for a family birthday the team and management were excellent , curly dark haired man ensured we had a great visit , will definitely be returning

dinosaurs and dragons So sad have used the black horse for years but tonight 15 Oct 2024 the starter chicken nachos was cold and smelt like fish the steak had more fat than a fat bird in a cake shop the bottle of wine which to be fair they swopped for a new one was sour and gone off the windows are mouldy and rotten so sad Toilets were clean tho lol

I recently visited the Black Horse. The overall experience was underwhelming. First, most of the menu items were out of stock, and to make matters worse, there wasn't any flexibility to adjust or modify anything on the menu regarding dietary requirements or allergies. Adding to the disappointment, the staff believes it is ok to serve plastic sauce sachets directly on the top of the food ( good that the chips was cold 🥶🤦🤣 ) This felt so unhygienic and out of place. Between the limited choices and poor presentation the experience was far from enjoyable. I definitely won't be going back.

We had dinner completely out of the blue and was very pleased with the food and service. I had the buttermilk chicken burger and waffle for dessert and all was very nice.

Great staff,who'd took due care and attention to my partners food allergies, excellent food and great prices....if you happy to waste £25 on crapdonalds your missing a trick with this place 👌🏻

Changed my review from 2 years ago...we have been back a few times since and has gone downhill each time to the extent that last time we went because relative had allergies we were made to feel we were back at school with attitude from manager...the meal they ordered was chicken skillet with veg the chicken was black...they replaced it without an apology only the waitress was apologetic...gave relative a free dessert but not what they ordered waiting ages for it also... menu has changed no sunday lunches presumably the cook has changed as they like to cremate everything unless they can microwave it.....the furnishings needs replacing the one ladies toilet was broken...such a shame as lovely setting and except for manager lovely staff could go into more depth but won't be back again in a hurry

Hubby booked table online. Came up from Gloucestershire to meet family. Table of 6. Ordered drinks at bar. Staff friendly and efficient. Sat and chatted then ordered via app. It's came out so quickly and was boiling hot! Looked and smelt amazing! As everyone tucked in, there was lots of smiling faces! Food was absolutely fantastic! We all had a lovely couple of hours. Shocked how reasonable the prices were. Food was great value. Thank you! 5⭐

We as a family are regular visitors to Black Horse Illey Lane... We are always made to feel welcome and even part of the family... Jackie and the team are fantastic. This is a pub that I wish I lived next door too. Fantastic County Pub feel with a family friendly atmosphere, food is always of good if not great standard.

We visited today for a family meal, the girls behind the bar and serving are so welcoming and friendly. Little funny banter behind the bar between the girls. After visiting The Elisabeth Arms in Bilston a few day's ago which is also part of the Sizzling group chain, the staff need to come here for some training on customer service. This country style pub is like a breath of fresh air! Friendly staff, Clean Premises, Excellent and well presented food. Would recommend and definitely return Soon, thanks everyone at The Black Horse Illey for making our Sunday Family meal a pleasure.

Was meant to be a nice lunch ended up with stale cold fries you can tell the oil needed changing in the fryer they tasted off and to top it off there was a hair on my steak- I did however get a refund for my lunch my partners was ‘edible’ I really wouldn’t recommend coming here I’ve noticed it’s been going down hill for a while I thought on the off chance I’d try it. Never again

My partner and myself have been going to the Black Horse twice a week for the last month had lovely food and fantastic staff We went today and sadly the food wasent the same my partner had Surf & Turf and i had Rib & Rump when ordering i was asked how i wanted the Steak cooked i said medium Rare on both sadley My Steak was more rare than medium and my Partners as she got to half of hers the blood ran out which made her fill off i informed a waitress who informed some one who offered us a sweet or drink i payed and we left

I ordered a well done steak, when it came it was black and smelt of fire, which I will not eat. My girlfriend went up to the bar and told them I won’t eat it and some lady with a bob and glasses decided to be rude and say “well she did ask for well done” and then I got given onion rings instead of egg so she mentioned that too and they just said “well I did say it was an hour wait.” I have panic attacks so I was not happy with my experience at all. Will probs not be coming here again

Walked in and straight back out the smell of dog wee was stomach turning .I understand dog friendly pubs but didn't want to sit n eat with the smell that hits u as soon as u walk in
