We love this pub.Staff are brilliant and make you feel very welcome. My wife and I had Sunday lunch.Plenty of choice on the menu and food was delicious. I’m a big eater but didn’t have room for a pudding 😂. Staff were attentive and very efficient. All in all a great experience we will definitely return. Thank you

Big thanks to Pam and all the staff at the Buck and Bell. We had a big family Sunday lunch here...17 of us including 5 kids, which was quiet a big ask. But everything went very smoothly...orders were all correct despite the chaos of everyone talking at once and changing their minds. The food was hot and plentiful and delicious. Nothing was too much trouble...even photo requests when they were so busy. We plan to return soon ...we'll done everyone! Sue and Trev Reeves

My wife and I popped in yesterday afternoon for a few drinks and ended up staying until closing time. There’s plenty of choice and drinks prices are very reasonable compared to others in the village. The owners and bar staff were all really nice too. Theres plenty of seating,we found a proper little sun trap too. The kitchen is being refurbished so the owners allowed us to order a takeaway as we were starving.👍

We visited for Mother's Day. The pub had a special menu, balloons, flowers on the table and the first impression was great. However, from then on, the meal went steeply downhill. We had to order from the Mother's Day menu because the usual menu didn't seem to be on offer, although other tables were being served food from it. One of our starters was forgotten and the main course was a complete disappointment. We all ordered a Sunday roast but the meat was clearly processed even though we were told it was off the bone. The remainder of the roast dinner looked and tasted like it was from the frozen section of the supermarket. When the staff asked how the meal was, we told them it was disappointing but they didn't seem that bothered. When we later asked what was going on in the kitchen, we were told 'nothing' which seems to be precisely the case. We won't be going back.

Visited for a Saturday lunch with family. Kn arrival there were a few other tables seated but not what you would describe as busy in any sense. Ordered four meals and waited for over an hour to be served. After asking about delay told that 2 other tables had ordered at the same time causing delay and it would be another 20 mins at least. If this was high standard food I would expect the time but the menu was standard pub fare mostly grilled or chucked in a fryer. When food eventually arrived apologies were given but no compensation. Only offer was a story about being in-between chefs and a new menu coming out soon. That's great for them but waiting for an hour and twenty for a basic pub lunch really wasn't good enough. Sadly we shan't be back. Would hate to be visiting on an actually busy day.

Visited on a busy Saturday lunchtime. A spacious environment with plenty of tables to sit at. The food service was disjointed with food arriving before any cutlery or condiments. The quality of food on the whole was disappointingly average to below average, the temperature of it suggesting it had been sat for some time before being brought to the table. We would return for drinks but not the food.

We arrived on time but the pub was very busy so took 10 minutes to seat. We were taken upstairs and ordered drinks. Could not order food at the same time as it was a different pad, and after told there was a menu option on the phone when booking I was then told it was Sunday roast only? Ordered food but told they had to change the barrel for my drink, and as they were busy it would be 20 minutes to half hour. I ordered an different one. The food arrived but no drink until I had finished eating. Plates were trying to be removed before other people had finished. We waited a while but had been forgotten. I went to the bar to pay and handed the ticket i was given for my table and was asked "what was this". I explained how the day was and again told it Sunday were busy with a very half hearted apology. We enjoyed the food and the pub is lovely but let down by service and lack of staff.

It's SO nice to have a pub open in the mornings and able to do breakfast. Great welcome and lovely atmosphere. Classy beer that gave the impression of being properly looked after. I haven't tried much of the menu yet - but I will. Phone and check on timings - not all days of the week are the same.

Booked a table for Sunday roast with my dad, took over 20 minutes for them to take our order, tables sat down after us and got their orders taken before us so when we finally got round to ordering there was only one meat option left. My dad also had a fly in his beer as it was brought to the table and the waitress watched him pick it out of his glass and never offered him a fresh one. Very disappointing because when the food did come the beef was lovely

We met friends for lunch in a very pleasant country pub. The food was very poor. First choice had run out as the chef was going on holiday and had not ordered any more. Spaghetti Bol was badly cooked mince with linguini. Bangers and mash was very poor. And again the puddings were out. The lady serving was really nice and I think rather embarrassed, comfy pub let down by the food. Wouldn’t return.

I booked the private room for my daughter's 18th birthday party. Michelle, Pete and Cheryl could not have been more friendly and helpful in every way. Michelle provided me with jam jars for flowers, Chery provided lovely table cloths and Pete and Neil moved the tables and chairs to suit the 15 guests. Unfortunately, on the evening itself the pub suffered a power failure and the only food that could be served were the starters - all of which were perfect. The situation was completely outside the control of the pub and we had no idea what to do. Fortunatelu, Pete suggested we order from a Chinese takeaway and my daughter's friends were allowed to eat this in the private room. Everyone was so kind and good natured about it all that the evening was still a great success. Many thanks to everyone involved for a memorable evening. We will be back.

Pleasant enough indoor seating area of varied size tables and actual seating. Outside seating looked inviting too. Menu was encouraging and varied. I chose sausage and mash. The sausages were tasteless and I did give that feedback to the female who removed my empty plate. Nice mash and nicely presented with gravy, but although the sausages looked good, they were tasteless. I would return as I found the pub, clean, tidy and friendly and Marston's Pedigree real ale at £3-60 a pint was in good shape and reasonably priced for this tourist part of Warwickshire.

Went here with family whilst down here for a family wedding. Nice looking pub and the family loved there food just a shame about the wait we was told 45mins wait for food for 2 people to receive theres after 30 mins while the rest of us (4 people) waited over an hour for them to bring it out missing one. Once questioned where it was we was told we did not order it yet the waiter remembered my boyfriend ordering it. Asked for the manager to be told they can get hold of him and to leave a review instead after a frustrating 1hr wait to not get one of the meals one person went home with not eating at 9pm! So it was also a trip to the chippy on the way home with 2 kids might I add! Like I said very nice pub just a shame they let it down!

Drove through the village on our way to our narrow boat and spotted this inn. Looked lovely from the outside. Went back later to have a drink and a bite to eat. We sat outside - dirty glasses left on the tables and not picked up by staff who walked past several times. Menu was very basic - just on a laminated card. A real disappointment. The outside didn't match the goods! Food was OK - very average. My lettuce was wilted and going brown at the edges. I should have pointed it out to staff but it should have been evident to both the chef and the waitress who brought it out. We had wished we had gone somewhere else.

An impromptu visit for Sunday lunch. A welcoming blazing fire but the room lacked a certain something. There was a live band playing in the other room behind the bar area. We ordered a lamb shank and a rib of beef, arrived fairly promptly however the vegetables were luke warm. We raised this with the waitress but she just apologised. During our meal the table next to us decided to put on the TV some sports channel/rugby. Service was ok, nothing special. We ordered dessert and both went for the syrup sponge, mediocre for £4.95. All in all, we were hungry after being out all day and it was just an impromptu visit around 4pm. Main course was around £9.95. Would not rush back.

Been going to Long Itch beer festival for 7 or maybe even 8 of its 9 years (& as we live a few miles away we've been in the village for meals /beers maybe every month or so for over 15yrs) and we were so very very disappointed by service & general attitude today at what was once a very good pub. One (I repeat one!) very hard working barmaid, rest were young pretty girls and/or apparent "junior managers" who have zero idea about customer service. Despite a beer we really fancied trying, we left after 20mins without being served and returned to the Harvester for real customer service and genuine understanding of what matters. I've no idea why, but it's such a shame that this pub is just so very lost ☹️

Firstly I just want to start by saying we LOVED this place......my husband and I have been going to the Buck and Bell a few times a year over the last 10 years or so. I have also had lunch here on a couple of occasions. We usually come here for an occasion like a birthday or anniversary. We have never had a bad meal or experience here in all the years we've been coming. We went two weeks ago for a very rare date night. It was a Saturday night and there didn't appear to be many in there. We were told that we'd have to wait a little while as they had over booked and had a large party in. It wasn't a problem as we were a little early and wanted to sit and have a drink. We sat down 15 minutes later and 10 mins after that received our menu. We were told at this point that three of the main courses were not available, so we only had 5 to choose from. The menu was small with only simple food options. This is not the menu we had once known which consisted of mouthwatering dishes with a good variety of tastes. We would usually have had two or three courses but only fancied the one as we struggled to choose. The service was really poor, no one asked if everything was OK with our meal, didn't ask if we'd like more drinks, didn't offer any sauces for our steaks (they weren't on the menu either), no smiles, empty plates left in front of us for 10mins. The food was good, steaks were cooked perfectly. Before we paid the bill we asked to speak to the manager. He was someone I'd not seen before (other than him cooking in the kitchen that night). He was really nice about it and apologised and said the chef had called in sick so he had to put together a smaller simple menu to suit his cooking talents! This would have all been ok if this was explained to us. We noticed that a couple of the tables around us also had disgruntled customers who complained. So unfortunately feel that we will not be rushing back there unless the menu changes and the service improves. Used to love it here, very disappointing.

We have been here a few times over the last few years but not been for a while and I can only guess that it has changed hands? We booked for Sunday lunch at 12.30 and there were a few people there when we arrived but not too busy. This is where the problems started! They have two bars but only one barmaid so half the time she was in the other bar. After 10 minutes of waiting I was told our waitress could take our order, phew! Problem was she didn't know much about the drinks so kept having to check on things to see what they had. This place is now made up of about 4 or 5 20 year old waitresses who have little experience or speed. We ordered but the drinks took about another 10/15 minutes to arrive. They were very keen to take our good order but we wanted to at least have our drinks before ordering. The menu is fairly standard for Sunday pub lunch and so we ordered, although sadly roast lamb (one of 3 roasts available) was not available! Our daughters arrived swiftly and a massive portion for £5.50, she was very happy with it.Our starters were average. Beetroot cured salmon was ok but lacked flavour. Pressed pork was on a bed of rocket with nothing else and was very plain.Roast beef was pink but tough. Roast pork was good. Fish and chips was average but mushy peas awful. We asked for ketchup and mustard and it took ages and no-one seemed to know why. On each course they kept trying to take our plates away before we had all finished which was really annoying. No panacotta left for puddings strange as we must have been one of the first of the day to order it. Chocolate fudge cake was massive and dry, needed ice cream with it, the fruit coulis didn't help at all. The cheesecake was still frozen so we could only eat half! All in all very average and no surprise it took ages to pay and we didn't leave a tip. We won't go back, real shame as it used to be great.

Sadly, there was a mix up in the kitchen, and my meal was incorrect. They said there would be a delay of 5 minutes...which was actually 15 to 20 minutes. Everyone else had finished their meal when mine arrived. Customer service was very slow. We had to ask for condiments, steak knives and remind the waitresses to bring drinks that had been ordered. The wine arrived at the table uncorked. On the plus side, the food was ok

Great service with Susie. They were a little short staffed so a limited menu, but we know that they usually provide good food whatever you choose. 4 tables booked for lunch so not overly busy, but it is January!! We love Sunday lunch here, best around by far!! Definitely be back

After searching the internet we chose this place for a mid week family get together as it seemed the perfect venue, midway between us all and with a fixed priced 2 or 3 course lunch menu which looked great. On arrival we were given a sheet of paper which was 'todays' menu. The choice was very poor and all priced separately (quite expensive too). When we asked about the fixed price menu as advertised on their website we were told that was only on Sundays (no mention of that on the website!). We had no choice but to stay as we had all travelled especially to meet up there. The main meal choice was Beef Ciabata, Sausage and mash, Liver, Onions and mash and chicken carbonnara a garlic bread oh and Rump steak (the only steak we could have). Just before ordering we were told that there was only 2 steaks left (this was at 12.30 on a Wednesday lunchtime with no-one else in the place!). Anyway we ordered 3 liver, onion and mash, 1 sausage and mash and the 2 steaks. I will say that when we finally got the food it did taste very good, but there were no vegetables whatsoever. Not sure if we should have ordered these separately but can' remember seeing them on the menu and the waitress never mentioned them so you would assume they were included. The place lacked atmosphere and was quite cold. We made the most of it but don't think we'll be back. Bell and Buck you need to update your sample menu on your website as it is very misleading. Nowhere does it say the fixed price lunch menu is on Sundays only. Very disappointed.

A very nice warm welcome. A good selection/choice of lite bites and main menu. We didn't have the Christmas Party Menu but it really looked delicious. The overall atmosphere was of a good mixture of country and modern style. A very nice and enjoyable couple of hours. And of course good food and service!

We met up as a group of 12, having pre-booked our meals in advance, as requested when the table was booked by us. Unfortunately our choices had not reached the manager/owner, but fortunately the blackboard menu was very similar to those preordered so we ordered from that - I would mention that we were not the only party that this happened to.The food was good and the helpings were generous - the waiting staff were smart and polite and service was good. The place was busy and we had the impression that new management had just taken over and were still working to improve things - let's hope they succeed because there are several other pubs/dining places in Long Itchington and in our experience locals can be fickle.

Along with friends of ours, we occasionally meet here as it is half way between our two homes. Today, 9th December, we arranged to have lunch. It was most disappointing. we walked into the bar area 10 minutes after opening, our table was booked for 12.15. No welcome, a cursory glance is all, it was cold, no fire, no atmosphere. One gentleman behind the bar pulled himself a glass of beer (quality control he said) did say 'hello' and 'cheers' and then left.We ordered from a young lady, who was pleasant but very shy and introverted and in all of our opinions had received no training into how to serve and communicate with people. Three of us had Ham and Eggs, described as Hand Carved Ham, Egg and Chips on the menu. The plates were cold, the eggs were cold, the chips were good but soon became cold. I mentioned all of this to the waitress and no further mention was made. Three coffees, Espresso, Capuccino and Americano, only the Espresso was not Espresso and the Capuccino was a lukewarm milky coffee with a sprinkling of chocolate on the top. Altogether very, very disappointing!! The whole place seems as though it has been neglected, the gents toilets were smelly and messy, the taps were encrusted with lime scale and the cubicle had toilet rolls perched all over the place, and one of the seats was broken.Apart from one other table of people who were eating, the place was bereft of atmosphere......................I wonder why? Do they not care? It's two weeks before Christmas, should have been buzzing! Judging by other reviews, most seem complimentary, a few similar to mine. Maybe it was just one of those days and we were the unfortunate ones!!

Visited here for lunch with my friend who is a wheelchair user. The staff were very nice & thoughtful ensuring we had a table by a door which was accessible by wheelchair. Staff continued to be nice & pleasant throughout meal Food was ok but not amazing - lasagne slightly over cooked and tough around edges but was still edible, portions were small too. I would visit again.

Entered the pub, passed the first barmaid who was too busy talking to a friend, waited by the inner bar without any greeting from the bar staff. The owner was busy taking a telephone booking so we waited patiently for him to finish, but he merely turned his back and went off to attend to something else. Two waitresses walked past and still no acknowledgement of our presence. Should have just walked out at that point but we made our own way to a vacant table where eventually Nigel came over and in no uncertain terms was told of our displeasure about the total lack of welcome. No apology, just 'we seem to have got off on a bad start'! He did sort a waitress to come and take our order but he did not appear again during the evening to ask if everything was OK.....perhaps a complimentary drink or dessert would have been a suitable gesture, especially as our tennis club spends a considrable amount each year at his establishment at their Christmas do? The restaurant was nowhere near full but by the time we ordered our meal, not late only 19.45 there was only one starter of soup available, everything else scored off the board menu. The main course of Lambs Liver was tasty but portion size meagre with only 3 very small potatoes as a side. We did not bother with dessert. All in all a disappointing introduction to an unfriendly village pub for our friends over from Australia.

Met old friends for dinner at buck and bell.my first visit and i was quite hungry when we arrived at 7.30p.m. we sat down and waited a while for drinks order to be taken. There were very few people in the pub so i anticipated a slick service. Eventually the waitress took our order. I chose (as it was pie night) a steak, mushroom and stilton pie with mash and green beans - the green beans were replaced with cabbage which was ok. We waited and waited, we had asked for glasses and water for the table. We drank our drinks, we drank the bottle of water. Two men came in, sat next to us, ordered and were served food. Three of our four meals arrived, the mashed potato on my meal was cold, the pie looked very well done. The waitress took it back to the kitchen then bought out the 4th meal. Everyone started their meals, my plate came back to the table very hot indeed. I attempted to take the lid off the pie, it was welded on. The waitress came to check the table and asked if all was ok. It was evident that the pie was overcooked and pretty well inedible. I was asked if i wanted another pie cooking but everyone else had nearly finished their meals so i declined. We decided against deserts and asked for tea and coffee. The coffee machine was broken and had been for ages according to the waitress but i was offered a cup of instant coffee which was fine. A message came from the kitchen that my meal would not be charged to us and i could have had a free desert and when we got the bill i was not charged for the instant coffee either so no complaints there however i went home hungry and disappointed with my visit to the buck and bell.

This pub does good food and tries really hard to meet your dietary requirement. I have been eating there for a number of years and two years ago I felt the food standard dropped but having returned there recently I think it is back to where it was. It is the sort of place that you can meet and enjoy a meal without spending a fortune.

Given our local is so good, we didn't expect the nearby Buck and Bell to be at least as comparable but we were very pleased that it was excellent. We will definitely be back soon. All of us had steaks, absolutely delicious and very well cooked and presented. Home made ice cream was a real delight, seriously impressive and a good cheeseboard. The kitchen obviously knows it's stuff. The service was very friendly and the building itself is lovely. Oh, forgot, great beer and a lovely bin end Spanish red! Thanks.

Had a two course lunch menu mid week last week (great value). The earl grey smoked salmon starter was delicious and beautifully presented. It was only surpassed by the main course of sea bass with chick pea masala, the flavours were divine, I ate so slowly as I didn't want it to end! Again superbly presented. Great to experience fab food at The Buck once again. Marvellous!

Second time here after a very long time living away it felt right passing through a bar full of locals including a friendly dog into the characterful restaurant. The service from the young attentive team was excellent. We had come on "pie night" which was a new venture and although we had steak the pies looked delicious. Flavoursome steaks properly seasoned were served on a platter with good presentation. It was difficult to have a sweet after such a large meal but I persevered as this menu was also new and very tempting, I wasn't disappointed. A great bottle of Rioja at a reasonable price and I felt very satisfied. When I look at some establishments offerings the Buck and Bell was a pleasant surprise. There was a large group in for the evening who were comfortably absorbed and accommodated in the upstairs eating area so good for parties too. I will definitely go again next time I am in the area.

Big thanks to the restaurant team at the manor, especially Michael, for ensuring a perfectly choreographed family lunch for 18. You couldn't have been more helpful or efficient.

A fascinating pub that we were told was once owned by Henry VIII and given to Catherine of Aragon on their divorce. Then owned by Magdalene College Oxford for hundreds of years. It’s certainly old with flagstone floors, lots of panelling and a no longer accessible secret passageway to the church across the road. Top that with decent beers, a short freshly cooked menu and friendly service
