Gables in Stoke-on-Trent

SHOCKING!!! Disgusting service with rude staff, the 2 girls behind the bar are an embarrassment!!! Shame as the food that was actually coming out looked nice. You can appreciate to wait for fresh food but over an hour and half and to be rudely told “another 20 minutes you should have known” with a terrible attitude is appalling. Who ever hires the incompetent bar staff needs to offer customer service training or even how to speak in a polite respectful manner - it would benefit your team. Good luck with them pair running the bar/restaurant today, they were an absolute joke!! As it wasn’t even busy 🤦🏻‍♀️

Lovely, Pub style restaurant. We enjoyed our entrees: I had the " Hunter's Chicken with Chips and a Salad. My love, had a Sirloin with cheese, Chips and peas. Great meals. Great server: Amber. She saw to all of our needs.

We visited here with myself and my partner and my elderly mum who has dementia and altzimer unfortunately we didn’t get the young lady’s name from behind the bar she was so kind and considerate towards my mum very polite and food was really good would definitely return

INCREDIBLE FOOD !!! The Sunday dinner was fantastic. The bar manger ( Amber ) was extremely kind, funny and helpful. Would be coming back for sure. If you fancy proper Sunday roast get your self down.

This pub needs closing sooner rather than later, staff were terrible, £18 for 2 pint of Carling and a GnT .? Really? I don’t / wouldn’t normally put a negative review on pubs locally but this was the worst experience I’ve ever witnessed,!!!!!!! How this place has not been shut down by the brewery or the authorities is beyond me!

We came in today at 3pm for a late lunch. Four adults and one 6 year old. Service was sport on and the food was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and the fish was huge! The even have Guinness zero! We will definitely be back.

Boxing Day family meal. They asked us to pre order so we wouldn't have to wait on arrival. On arrival the table wasn't set because they had let others sit there it was then sparsly set with a dreadfulf paper tablecloth. We then waited a further half hour for the meal to be served. Side dishes came out first then seven meals came out willy nilly but they had completely forgotten my grandsons and by the time that had been cooked & served 3 of us had finished ours. Once the dishes had been cleared away we waited another half hour for desserts then the custard.... There was no heating on, no atmosphere and no staff. Sorry Gables but you let yourselves down by not being better prepared.

Ordered steak was not offered a steak knife to devour all the fat and gristle I was challenged with very poor quality and very poor table service

Popped in today as haven't been for years. The lady serving on bar/restaurant was lovely and friendly. Very welcoming. Food came quickly and was full of flavour. Small issue with the order but was rectified straight away. The only thing was that I found the dining area a little chilly. But we had a wonderful lunch date and really enjoyed our meal. We will be back

We have been 3 times since new management and wow.... helpful, happy staff, good food, well presented and in keeping with the prices. Clean venue. Well done, u are turning thisbpub around 4 tge better

Went to celebrate a birthday with the family. Food was lovely and served quickly. Staff friendly and attentive. Had a lovely evening and am sure we will be back.

When ordering, the server stopped mid order to go and serve food, even though there was two other members of staff doing nothing. The cutlery was dirty. The server, when bringing food out, didn't know who to deliver it to and walked through the pub just shouting the food order. We witnessed her delivering food incorrectly, but just walking away. The chips on our order weren't cooked properly, and the food in general was poor quality.

Never had someone so attentive and Caring, Aisha I think the Ladies Name was. An absolute Credit to the Restaurant. She made our visit there quite Memorable and made my Family very Welcome with her Excellent Customer Service. Wage Rise Required I would imagine, Ladies like this are Few and Far. Thank her From us !

Staff are very welcoming, had the pedigree & was very nice and clear, fish & chips lovely, play area and beer garden outside, definitely recommend a visit. On hot days staff even put on a free bouncy castle for the kids!

Recommended by a friend for lunch; We met up for burgers (it was 4th July) and sat outside in their really nice beer garden (which was clean, tidy & rubbish free) Food was nice, just regular pub grub with plenty of extras like onion rings, fresh side salad and the chips were much better than I’d expected Not pricey, lovely outside seating, friendly staff, car park & weren’t kept waiting very long for our food - I’d go back for food and / or just drinks 5⭐️s

We waited a good while for four meals All meals came out all had a little wrong 1st there were stuff missing from the plate 2nd the fish was over cooked, 3rd chips were over cooked and had black bits on them where the fryer needs changing 4th meal was sent back as was completely yuck the manager apologised and refunded the meal usually a very good service but today may have been a one off

Friendly staff, very welcoming. clean and tidy pub and a good pint. Considering I’m not local to the area I was made to feel very comfortable and welcome.

After our hotel forgot to tell us there was no chef to cook for evening meals. We popped out and found the pub ,we asked for food she said it was late to order then the cook said it's fine stay and we will serve you , Friendly accomodating and prompt service. Always a great experience with food at the gables. Tonight I came in with my wife and boxer dog. I had the mega mixed grill. My wife has a cowboy burger and chewie the boxer had some buttermilk chicken. All the food was fresh and hot when it arrived and very good quality. Highly recommended.

Absolutely diabolical service. We went for a mothersday meal. 11 adults 9 children. Was a farce even from booking 2 weeks prior. Asked to pre book never recieved Any menus or pre order forms prior to do this. Just a text the night befor the booking taking me to the website. All food came out separately. People had finished eating befor others had recieved thers. The staff didn't know what ther wer brining out. All orders wer coming out in difrent order to what the orders wer placed. And staff couldn't differentiate between and adults meal or a child's. Very under staffed. And managers attitude was disgusting. She even called the police and refused to replace or refund the meals we wer missing.

Brilliant afternoon/night at the gables for our little cricket celebration lovely buffet put on by them and staff were amazing and went above and beyond to help us.

Very friendly accommodating staff. Lovely welcoming open fire on a cold day. Food good value for money. Will definitely go again.

With only 45 minutes left of kitchen service we arrived un booked and instantly made to feel welcome everything available on menu considering the time of evening we arrived , the food came out freshly cooked and exactly how ordered absolutely brilliant service and lovely food thoroughly enjoyed our evening family of 6 Will definitely be returning very soon thank-you

Fantastic meal, quick receipt of service and polite staff. Particular notes to the owner/chef, who could not do enough for us and took the time and care to ensure that we had a good meal.

Been coming here for years but haven’t been for 12 months and it’s changed a lot. The Bar stafff were dull, there were no atmosphere and no forks, as for the food it took ages had a mixed grill with salad. It Tasted horrible, I ate the salad and egg. Think the meat had gone off. Won’t be going there again.

Just turned up with the running club on a Wednesday evening and the guys at The Gables couldn't be more welcoming, with chip butties, Sausages and onion ring, very good of them. Thank you very much.

Went to thus pub today to take a friend fid lunch ordered soup waited 30 mins to be told there was no leek n. Potato fruend the had mushrooms my soup can with a piece of stake bread. Not crust roll her mushroom s came with nothing asked fir a refund n walked out also just checked on my account and an amount of 7.50taken. our of my account nit a clue what fir never go there again

Went for first time for a while ,food good but drink more expensive than most places (175 of wine 1.50 more than most places) but as always need a cardigan or jumper very cold , staff great but like we all thought very cold, saw a chap put his jacket back on and said to wife " I'm freezing " pity smashing place

First time eating here. We were really happy with the food, presented well and hot, just as it should be. Pie was delicious, and so was the curry. Great value for money. Friendly, welcoming staff. Will certainly be back, very soon.

Well where do we start, we came for Christmas dinner and when I tell you it was like eating at faulty towers! There was a local who was helping the kitchen staff, bringing us food had no idea what they were bringing, didn’t have our pre order. They brought half the starters and the other half 20 minutes later, same happened with both the mains and desserts. Bloke serving was in a hoodie, food was on the colder side.

Mum and I have been to The Gables a few times over the last couple of months and have always enjoyed the food and found the service good.

Went with a party of 10. All meals were fabulous and bought to us quickly. Food was hot and beautifully presented. Table clothes were put on and crackers the table even though we did not have Christmas fayre. Thanks for going the extra mile

Nice team of staff, average food that fits its purpose, but certainly not a family pub We arrived there needing to feed 2 hungry children, we left with 2 children asking why the family next to us were so loud, continuously swearing, advertising their sex lives and left a mass of destruction behind... Not the staff teams fault that those people exist and behave that way, but maybe they should have intervened sooner as others had clearly had to endure them for some time before we had! Not somewhere I'd choose to voluntarily visit again, maybe in the daytime it's safe for a family to use for a quick meal
