Been using planters for many years unfortunately the restaurant has declined was there for 3 separate activities booked for Halloween .. 6 adult 3 children so not a cheap day .. food took 1hour 15 mins and all arriving at separate times so had to leave it as had slot time for pumpkin picking . . I ordered a gluten free sandwich that was poor size and standard for the price .. Considering it was school holiday and was very busy lack of staff . ..

Goodness, this place is bad! Planters has two food areas: a main restaurant and a smaller coffee spot next door. With the main restaurant packed on the first day of half term, we opted for the coffee area, hoping it would be quicker for just a coffee and a slice of cake. Unfortunately, I can’t overstate how slow the service was. With only three people in front of me, each ordering basic drinks like coffee or tea, I still waited over ten minutes. When I finally reached the front, it became clear why. The young lad making the coffees (hardly a trained barista) and the young woman helping him seemed to be working in slow motion. Every question or order was met with confusion, as though they were half-asleep. I ordered two coffees—one with milk and another with syrup. That simple order took four more minutes to complete, and they even forgot the milk initially. Midway through, a staff member wandered out, distracting the server with a chat about hairstyles, halting the coffee-making entirely. Only after a nudge did she remember the milk. When the drinks were finally on my tray, there wasn’t even a thank you—she just walked off to the next customer. Honestly, avoid this place. The service (if you can call it that) is painfully slow, and it’s not worth the frustration or the cost. If you’re hungry or in need of coffee, do yourself a favour—wait until you get home.

Went today for a quick brunch. We ordered two baps one sausage and one bacon - waited over half an hour and it was quiet. When the food arrived it was cold, no butter on the sandwiches and the bacon was dry and rubbery. We’ve had better meals at planters. Sunday lunch is usual ok and the jacket potatoes. We won’t be rushing back. Disappointing

Found the food lacking .. Ordered Cheese sandwich. Not buttered. Very little cheese. Side salad also saw better days. Baked potato. Beens were plenty. Although the who thing was cold. Again no butter for the potato. As the potato was cold. It was too rubbery to eat. So not able to enjoy . Luckily the very overpriced cup of. Tea was warm enough to enjoy The young girl we mentioned it too did not seem interested. So deemed it pointless to pursue any further. Will not be visiting the food area again

Can’t complain about the Garden centre, which is nice to look around and they have some nice things to purchase etc. however when myself and my husband went to have a coffee and maybe a spot of lunch, I was appalled by the kitchen staff and how they handled the food. I watched in amazement at one lady who was making a salad for someone. Grabbing her hands into the bowl and lifting the salad onto the plate with her bare hands!! Who would think that someone would like to eat a salad knowing that the staffs hands had been all over it. Further more she then cleaned down her station with what looked like a dirty cloth, then carried on scooping another load of salad onto another plate. (Without washing her hands). Needless to say I didn’t purchase a £12.99 salad that would have tasted of a dirty dish cloth. 🤦🏻♀️ please planters make your kitchen staff wear disposable gloves for Christ sake!!

Visited the garden centre today for the first time and while we was there we decided to try the restaurant , we ordered 2 breakfast one vegetarian and one traditional , when the breakfast arrived it was slapped in a table by the young waitress that clearly didn’t want to be at work today . The sausage and bacon were barely cooked and were cold as well as the beans , for the price they charge it was awful only the hash browns were eaten , needless to say wont be going the cafe / restaurant again

We often come here and always enjoy the experience browsing afterwards in the garden centre. The staff are generally friendly and helpful. Having read a recent comment about staff cleaning an area well before closing time, we have experienced the same thing. It was quite off putting to be so close to us still eating and drinking and was quite some time before the cafe was due to close. A further observation we have is that on each occasion we've visited the cafe recently we have had to ask for clean cups as each one has not been cleaned well enough. On the last visit the milk jug could have done with a clean, too as it looked like it hadn't been washed inside between uses. We were surprised that when tables were being cleared they were not been cleaned/disinfected between one visitor and the next. In these post Covid days we feel this should be a requirement and have seen it done in many other places.

Firstly I'd like to say this is not a negative review of the food as it's always delicious and today's experience will not put us off but hopefully management will see this and maybe make some changes. We arrived later than normal today 3:20pm. But we only wanted coffee and a piece of cake so knew we'd still be in time as it's open till 5pm. My husband suggested I went and got a table while he waited to collect the coffee's as I am disabled.(visible by my walking stick) I went to an area near the double doors into the plants, a young lady said she was sorry but the area was closed for cleaning. So walked down to the bottom where you can look out at the golf and climbing but all the tables had reserved on them. A young man who worked there walked past so I asked if I could sit there as I'd already been told we couldn't sit at the top end but he said no the area had been cleaned for tomorrow. I did say it's silly as it's not closed yet and 3 lady's were mopping in front of customers still eating and I just needed somewhere we could sit and he suggested an area next to the dog friendly seats which is rather not or outside!!! We went outside and realised we should have complained more as it was cold and very blowy but we didn't feel welcome to sit inside. I work in a deli so I know how manic the last hour is. But we always make sure customers who arrive late receive the same experience, is this something that could be looked at? I'll leave it with you.

Have been coming to planters for years now, great to see there’s some gluten free wrapped options in the restaurant. Just what has happened to the prices. £3 for a pot of tea? We usually have 2 lots of drinks while we are here for the day but not any more. We don’t buy any meals here as don’t feel they are priced well. Occasionally we might have a cake. £6 for 2 teabags and some hot water is just too much.

My friend and I shared a cheese sandwich, then had a cake each. The sandwich was only buttered on one side of bread, the quality of cheese used was abysmal, more like grated tasteless plastic, wet salad on plate made bread and crisps slightly soggy. At the price you pay for a cheese sandwich you would think the quality of the cheese would show that. My friends lemon meringue was lovely, my carrot cake was very dry. This restaurant used to be the place to go for very decent food, what has happened ?? On the website it says they source the best ingredients, I don't think that is true anymore

We visited with our two young granddaughters to see the Christmas displays and have lunch. We usually buy a child’s portion of fish and chips when we take them out and divide between them as they’re only little. There was no fish and chip option so I ordered pizza and chips with peas. I was unsure if the 16month old would eat the pizza so ordered a reluctantly ordered a child’s pasta bowl at £7. It was inedible. Basically penne pasta with tomato purée stirred in and cheese melted on top. Needless to say my granddaughter turned her nose up at it as well she might. It was disgusting. The temperature varies from warm to fridge cold. It was bitter and just horrid. Why would any self respecting chef think they could get away with serving this up to anyone least of all a child? The other child’s meal of pizza was also poor. The pizza was so pale it looked like it had barely seen an oven and wasn’t properly cooked. It too appeared to have tomato paste and cheese on it. The peas were like bullets. Eating out is costly these days for reasons I totally understand. But trying to pass off such poor quality food at inflated prices was nothing short of criminal. The adult meals were at least edible but also tepid and really not great. My Americano with milk was so weak and milky I couldn’t taste any coffee Most places give you the milk in the side. It was more like a weak cappuccino. I told two members of staff we weren’t happy and lovely though they were, made no attempt to recompense or address the issues. First and last visit.

My husband and I visited Planters garden centre today on Saturday 4th November. We had a lovely time looking around and the two older guys at the furniture section were more than exceptional with their help and knowledge. We then decided to visit the restaurant it was just before 4pm. We ordered a chicken baguette, chips and two teas. We sat down with the teas and noticed there was no milk on the tray - so up I got to get milk. Then when I went to use a cup it was badly strained with bits all stuck to it - I swapped them only to get two more even worse - returning them again the young lady checked several over before she could even find two that were ok putting all the dirty ones to one side.( half a pile of cups ) By the time I got back to my table the food was there - well the baguette only. My husband questioned where the chips were and said they were not on the order and had not been paid for - eh !!! Lucky we had the receipt which did show we did not pay for them - so went to checkout to the person who had served us she said oh I forgot to put them on the order - no apology nothing - how rude. The chips arrived quickly but luke warm but by now I’d just about had enough so just got on with it. I complained to a mature member of staff about the problems up to now and she offered us a free drink - which we didn’t need as hadn’t started our teas as yet but she said she’d speak to the supervisor about all the problems. She went away and I could see her talking to another person and expected them to come over at least and say something but no one came back or said anything to us. I was very disappointed and felt they just weren’t interested and couldn’t be bothered. When I went to then drink my tea I felt a slight scratch on my lip - the cup had a chip in it - by then I gave up and just turned it around to drink out of the other side. Whilst all this was going on they were sweeping all around us in-between chatting and left a pile of rubbish near our table all the time we were there and was still there when we left - appalling and put us off eating. We’d finished our food and was just having our teas when a young lady came and asked if she could take our plates - before answering she proceeded and even took my saucer so when I went to put my cup down looked around unable to find it in total shock. As we left I mentioned the damaged cup which she did proceed to speak to someone about. We came out for a relaxing afternoon with a snack at what is not a cheap place for the food and just found the whole experience a DISASTER…………….. I just wish we’d gone somewhere else You might think this episode which was equivalent to a Faulty Towers episode could never have happened but check out the photos and by the look of the other reviews it’s happened to lots of others too. To the management just sit in this restaurant for a few hours and see what goes on - Back To The Floor - for all the good the garden centre is doing this area is letting it down.

The garden centre as a whole is lovely but the restaurant has really gone down hill as reflected in the many other poor reviews. We came at peak time for lunch on a Sunday. Only one till open, long queue, signs saying 1 hour wait for food. Decided to just have cakes and a drink. It’s very expensive here now for average food. I realise costs have gone up a lot but they need to maintain service.

Saturday lunch time and there was over an hour wait for food that should take less than 10 mins to prep. We had a sausage bap (sausages from breakfast service) a panini, with a premade filling, and a jacket potato with 2 cold fillings. The issue is the running of the tickets, there seems to be no prep station management. The quality was only just ok, not great, the coleslaw in particular far too chunky, and very disappointingly just wrapped in prenade mayonnaise, the sausage bap was also dry. Because of the long wait on food we ended up buying 2 rounds of drinks. The FOH lead was quite abrupt and rude - even when replacing the mug with lipstick around the rim. Overall - a thoroughly underwhelming yet very expensive lunch. For future reference, its a no from me, unless its a cake only (which we didn't even have time for today).

On the odd ocassion that we have complained they do not like it, the manager and supervisor totally ignore you, your pennance for requesting your money back. Hardly any gravy, no roast potatoes (which was on menu) and the stuffing was inedible...but could have been used as a football. The second meal ordered was a vegetarian meal, jacket potato has definitely been re-heated..no butter offered and the side salad (just lettuce!) looked like it had been thrown on the plate. The table wasn’t clean, although it had been wiped, the menu had food smeared all over it and the suede sofa seats need a good clean. Took a friend here today as a treat lunch for her 80th birthday in the week. As she struggles to walk we used a trolley for her to lean on. As there was a bit of a queue to get in we needed to use the trolley in the queue. Not easy as there was a ridiculous backward and forward walkway created that was not at all trolley friendly. Then a couple barged past us and were allowed to walk straight in, despite the staff seeing that they'd completely jumped the queue. My friend, as a coeliac, was struggling with the menu so we chose jacket potatoes. The drinks were delivered - dumped on the table without a word. Then a girl arrived with the jackets - she was friendly to be fair - but they were desperately overcooked so my friend said they weren't acceptable and to change them. A lady then arrived saying they had no more. As there were no gluten free alternatives, there was no option other than a refund. We started to walk out - there was no one else coming in - and the dragon guarding the entrance demanded we walk all the way round. I pointed out the difficulty my friend has walking and she was really nasty, saying we still had to walk all the way round. So a ruined lunch was made even worse. By the time we got out, she was in too much pain to go anywhere else.So from a situation before lockdown where we went regularly, now we won't be going back. Shocking service.

I visited today with my mother and other family members. I ordered the chicken baguette and was very disappointed with what came. The baguette was one of those part cooked ones which I don’t think had been finished off in the oven and the chicken was that pre cooked £1 packet stuff. Strangely, with it being a restaurant, I expected a nice piece of French crusty baton and proper cooked chicken. My mums panini wasn’t much better and I suspect that had been ordered in from a Ryanair short haul flight. For £6.95 each, it was our first and last visit to this “restaurant “

I went to this nursery with my mother in law and my wife to get some plants and have lunch . We weree seated and ordered the food , when it arrived , we started eating , but I had to stop my wife from eating the burger as it was so over cooked , the patty was like charcool, it was also so dry it was crumbling when you touched it. This would have put my wife in incredible amounts of pain and a visit to the A&E department. My mother in laws food , she ordered a baguette and when it arrived the bread was so hard it could have broken her tooth, She left the bread. my food was also overcooked and the chips were cold.We spoke to the staff and advised them of the issues , was told we would only get 50% taken off each item as they had cooked it, we paid and asked for the manager , when he came he was more interested in blaming all other things and not taking responisbility , after a few minutes of talking to him , we showed him the burger from my wife and he just said they cook it to a standard . I said to him its not our problem the chef cant cook a burger properly to which he repsonded with the same rubbish about their standards. We looked at each other and deceived it was not worth continuing talking to him as he was obviously not interested in addressing the issue. We have frequesnted that restraunt since 2018 and never had a problem, but after this instance , we wil only go back for things that cannot be cooked by their staff. Pity his reluctancy cost the nursery a sale of alot of plants , as well as his greed in asking us to pay for something that was not fit for purpose , and when complaining to be told we could only get 50% as twe had wasted the food.

Was approached by a young female staff member, as we entered the restaurant from outside. Who then informed us that we had come in from the wrong door, and that we needed to leave walk around to the front, and enter from there. And because we questioned why we couldn't order or be seated from where we entered, she snapped "We are in the middle of a pandemic!" and waked away. In all my 30 years of retail i have never spoken to a customer in that way, and believe me, i've wanted to. Yes we are in the middle of a pandemic, but thats not an excuse to be so rude.

I had brought a afternoon tea as a mothers day gift just as lockdown was up on us.Re booked for 30th August we were looking forward to it but ended being a little disappointed as heard good reports, we were in main eating area when you would be slightly separate, No table cloth for some reason they cannot but them on now, but surely a white throw away could be put on would make it a bit nicer especially when you have beautiful crockery, Staff still handle crockery so tables could be set up, Would make it feel special. The lady who looked after us was lovely as was the food , but would not book another unless changes were made as afternoon tea is on the details .A Robinson

Visited to look around decided to have lunch what a mistake New system terrible you order your items and give them your table number they give u a timer which the number does not correspond to the table number We got our drinks. But the food did a tour or the restaurant and outside before it was taken back to the kitchen I had to go and ask for the food and show the staff where we were sitting They look terrified that a customer had got up and was speaking to them Wish I had not bothered the roast dinner was crap very little over cooked veg rock hard frozen Yorkshire pud not fresh made very poor quality for £10.99. Pizza was nice but not a lots of topping Waste of money They cannot blame the COVID situation as we visited another garden last week called gates at Oakham and their roast dinner was same price and fabulous Please planters sort out the food and get rid of the doppy waiters who have not got a clue. He made us feel like lepers nearly throwing the tray on the good table from about 3 feet away.

We just wanted a quick snack after doing the Skytrail but were utterly confused by the new social distancing signposting. There didn’t appear to be any way of getting into the cafe area as the only signs we could see were showing how to exit. It was also unclear what the process was for ordering. We didn’t realise that you had to be shown to a table before you could then go back inside to order. After numerous confusing conversations and being shown to our table we eventually ordered but we then had to wait for 40 minutes before our 2 drinks and 2 cakes were served - only after I had pointed out that we still hadn’t received them and with no apology for the delay.

Visited the restaurant for the first time since lock down and was very impressed with the efforts of the manager to make things as pleasant and as safe as possible. Each table has a serving table next to it so the staff can keep a safe distance. The staff themselves were exceptionally helpful and aware of keeping everyone safe. Excellent, well done everyone at Planters.

NB. This is a review for the garden centre. Sadly, a mere shadow of the garden centre it used to be. Like many larger centres, it’s become a homogenised megastore, with a sad lack of attention to detail, especially on the plant side, lots of dead plants on sale, dying plants due to being underwatered, mislabelled plants and a total lack of theatre and originality. Badly needs someone in charge to actually care about the quality of their offering, and do something about it. Plus points at the moment would include the social distancing measures and the covered outdoor space, making it stoppable all year, but sadly the stock doesn’t live up to it. Inside too, it’s just the same as countless other large centres, all very similar stock, no originality, and no personality to the displays. This used to be a centre to look up to, but not any more.

Sausages where not cooked properly, bacon was over cooked. Egg was hard. Customer service was not the best. Definitely won't be using here again. But the time it took them to do it my break was nearly over. So had no time to eat it had to put it in the bin.

Brilliant service every single time. All the desserts we have tried have arrived in picture perfect condition in a fraction of the time you'd expect, always warm and packaged in oh so cute packaging. Their menu has more than enough options to delight young & old alike and their prices are just as well recieved. My partner and I are huge fans and order online for delivery whenever we need a pick-me up. They were even our first thought when celebrating the evening of our engagement!

Well the people of Tamworth are lucky they can no longer dine here, but us hotel guests,in the middle of nowhere have little choice. A very limited menu has very poor choices.I had Haddock and chips. Here it is £13.99.,no peas.At the Premier inn in Stoke it was £12.99 with peas. You work that out. The battery was so hard at the end I couldn't eat it.I also had a vanilla ice cream. One of the poorest meals I can remember eating.See the photo.
