Really nice place but the food left alot to be desired, I had the lamb Sunday roast . My wife had the nut roast , I felt the lamb was undercooked and the vegetables were hard , the roast potatoes were extremely hard , admittedly we went at 6pm perhaps it was a bit late but I felt the roasters were left overs from lunch time , all in all I was a bit disappointed, but it is extremely popular and we had to book to make sure we got a table . I feel for the money that there is better places to go for a Sunday lunch

This is the second time we have eaten here in a few weeks and each time we were very impressed. The latest was a busy Saturday night, we had a reservation and were quickly taken to our table. The staff are amazing, very friendly and efficient, water and drinks arrived promptly and the food was delicious, great Calamari starter and Cod and Moroccan lamb were fab. Even though it was busy the service was brilliant and the young waiting staff should be congratulated. Also great choice on menu.

Went for a last minute Sunday lunch. The wait to order took a while but once they realised their error the service was great. The food was delicious and Latoya was so attentive. She has a lovely, friendly manner about her. We will definitely be back

Ego at Fox and Dogs is a welcome addition to Sutton Coldfield. It was busy while we were there but our orders were taken and food delivered in the appropriate time. Good choices on the menu . We were all very satisfied with our food. Sapphire looked after us and checked everything was ok. We will be back

Having enjoyed several visits to EGO in Lichfield we were really looking forward to trying the newly opened restaurant at the Fox and Dogs, particularly as this is within walking distance. We booked a table for 6.15pm on Friday 22nd as part of a birthday celebration – 7 of us including 2 youngish children. The plan was to eat and then return home to finish the family celebration. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived and agreed to turn down the very loud music that clearly didn’t add to the ambience of the dining area once we’d pointed out the volume. Drinks arrived promptly and food orders taken by 6.30 HOWEVER from this point things went down hill. As the food hadn’t arrived by 7.20, we were assured that it would only take another 10 minutes but it wasn’t until approximately 7.40 that the first plates appeared. By this point the children were tired, hungry, and restless so we asked if it was possible to order their desserts so they would be available straight after the main course. Again, we had an unreasonable wait before they arrived, meaning that we were not able to leave until around 9pm. In our opinion 2 ¾ hours for a meal of 2 courses (no starters thankfully) is unacceptable and something we have never experienced at EGO Lichfield. On the plus side the food was good and our waitress (Abi) did her very best to look after us – we felt sorry for her and her colleagues who seemed to be having the same problems at other tables. The issues were beyond their control and presumably down to poor planning and management of the restaurant by those in charge. After speaking to the manager, we were offered a discount on the £200+ bill which we felt was the least he could do given that our special birthday evening plans had been significantly compromised. Sadly, we are unlikely to either return to the Fox and Dogs or recommend it to friends, and despite the distance will continue to use EGO in Lichfield.

Excellent service and food. Very nice surroundings and ambiance. Warm and welcoming bright and airy. Wanted to try out this new restaurant so took my elderly Mum there for lunch. Had a very pleasant experience.

This was formerly an Ember Inn pub which has now been refurbished & re-opened as an Ego restaurant early in March. Having been to the Ego in nearby Lichfield, we thought we would give it a try. Unfortunately, there were a number of problems, starting as soon as we were seated & choosing what we wanted. After 15 minutes, no-one had approached us to take our order & we had to go to the lady at the reception desk to ask for someone to take our order. 15 minutes later, our drinks order appeared closely followed by the food. So to summarise,service was very slow despite the restaurant only being half full. I requested a medium steak which arrived well done with a very runny peppercorn sauce (not ordered!), my wife chose the Chicken Milanese but the chicken was flattened nearly paper thin & hence over-cooked though the lemony crumb was good & the salad excellent. Some of the fries were undercooked & a little firm even though they were very thin. The salt is very healthy as the grains are so large they fall off the fries. The warm apple & cinnamon pie was good but the Sicilian lemon pie came with squirty cream instead of fresh whipped cream which would have been better. The bill was incorrect when it arrived, the Monday special price hadn't been applied & the peppercorn sauce that wasn't ordered was changed for. Yes, it's only been open a couple of weeks but it's not somewhere we will be returning to in a hurry.

My Husband and I went for a meal on Sunday 17th March at the Ego at the Fox and Dogs. the meal was lovely, but we had problems getting the 20% discount as the reception was not good and the code didn't come through. I have tried to print the Voucher off at home on the Home Computer,but it will not do it. This seems to be a case of IT stopping you showing the Code Voucher number and the system working against you getting a discount. What a false deal.

We have used Ego in Lichfield for many years, so we were pleased to see that they had opened the new restaurant nearer to home. We went to celebrate family birthdays, using the very generous free 3 course a la carte meal if you are a member of Ego Club and it’s your birthday. First impressions are that it is fresh and spacious and feels airy. It has been stylishly refitted. The restaurant was about half full on arrival. We were quickly offered drinks by our young and friendly server. Starters arrived reasonably promptly and everyone on our table enjoyed them. For the main course, I had the Rib Eye steak and it was done perfectly. However the peppercorn sauce was watery. I sent it back and a manager was quickly on the scene to get it replaced and also refunded the additional cost. There was a bit of a delay for sweets and coffee but again everyone enjoyed them. The biggest challenge came on paying. Ego offer all sorts of vouchers and offers and if your party has different ones it can get very confusing. A manager was asked to sort it out as the staff, although pleasant, are learning their roles I suspect. It was also sorted to everyone’s satisfaction, and everyone came away having thoroughly enjoyed the experience , despite the minor glitches. I would certainly recommend Ego@ Fox and Dogs, especially if you sign up via Ego club for the offers.

First visit . Decor very nice and inviting . Drinks came within ten minutes of ordering . Ordered wine which was warm, waitress bought over wine cooler cover but as it wasn’t cool had no effect . She bought over then a bucket of ice but as it didn’t have water in the cooler wine wouldn’t go in . Finally waitress took out the ice to make way for the wine . Ordered mussels and mushroom soup starter . Soup was excellent. Mussels .., come in a great big black pot . Awkward to eat as the table was low so you can’t actually get into the pot without standing up ! Small mussels and very gritty . Mains , fillet and eye steak . I did ask waitress how many ounces was 170 gr steak as it does not state but she fid not know . Turns out it’s 6 oz but it’s so small . No onion rings on offer , a must with a steak . Tasty though . Waitress very accommodating. It was just ok food . Very friendly staff .

Branded as an Ego Pub as opposed to an Ego restaurant. Don't believe it. It is not a pub. There is a small area directly in front of the bar with 2 tables where you can have just a drink - if you can get a seat when people are having pre-meal drinks. Luckily managed to get a couple of seats and watched the waiting staff, who are very obtrusive, kick a couple off a table that's "for eating only". Then another couple came in with a pushchair, asked where they could sit to just have a drink and were told in the tiny bar area only. There were no seats and they left. This is some dystopian version of a pub. Very disappointed in M&B for marketing this as a pub when it absolutely is not. It might, or might not, be a great restaurant, but we went in there for a drink. Might go back when we can sit outside as it is closest licensed establishment to home but will not eat there now. Very disappointed.

Ego at the Fox still has a little way to go before it gets as good as Ego Lichfield, which is only understandable considering it’s only just opened and is still finding its feet. We went for lunch today, the staff were friendly, courteous and tried their best in a busy and I guess new environment, but the food was good, the atmosphere lively and so busy! There were a couple of holdups when things didn’t go exactly to plan but were swiftly and pleasantly corrected and compensated for, which counts for a lot in my book especially when staff are learning the ropes and if anything this made me like the place even more. . It is lovely to think we have a potentially excellent place to eat right on our foorstep, I wish the new Ego at the Fox and Dogs all the very best in the future and we will definitely be back.

A vast improvement now the pub has been refurbished and rebranded as an Ego Mediterranean Restaurant. The entire family really enjoyed a 3 course meal at the weekend including my 2 kids of 8 and 11yrs. All the staff are very friendly and attentive and the food good quality. We will definitely be visiting again ASAP as it’s also happy only a very short walk from our house! 😀👍

This place is now an Ego Restaurant that has just opened. We were luckily invited as friends & family to a pre-opening meal. What a fantastic meal we had it’s amazing food and plenty to choose from on the menu. It’s classed as Mediterranean style food but there is plenty of amazing dishes. You can start with Appetisers then starters followed by main course and dessert if you have room. You don’t have too have all courses just what you want. There is a full Al a carte menu plus a set menu price. They also do afternoon teas as well. I would recommend this Ego restaurant to anybody that is looking for a nice meal out. Not many places like this around so don’t forget to book. They also do Sunday Roast dinners which is also amazing. All the food drink & service was excellent and extremely well done to say it’s all new to the staff too ! Thank you to all the staff who made it an amazing night and can’t wait to come back and try again soon. Keep up the good work 👍👍🥇

Visited the Fox & Dogs in Mere Green for lunch. The staff were very friendly. The food was great. The manager Grant runs a great welcoming pub. Well worth a visit before it closes for a refurb and loses its soul.

I would like to thank Ryan and his staff for the service we had today. I took a large group (20+) of older people for lunch and everyone was happy with the service and meal they received.

A group of 6 of us visited to eat at 6pm on a Saturday. Good value particularly the selection of wine at £10 a bottle. Will be back.

Popped in with high hopes as this used to be our favourite pub, sadly I was disappointed, the beer was flat they didn’t have much stock, the bar tender seemed very inexperienced and the toilet floor was covered in water and toilet paper. Had the one flat pint and left which looked like everyone did as the bar was empty by 8pm.

First of all the table was very sticky although it was clean, but my husband had the mixed grill and the steak was very tough and chicken was dry and stringy, so unfortunately we won't be going back ever again.

Visited on Sunday 19th for a Christmas drink with friends and family. Clean, tidy and the staff were all friendly and attentive. All of the food that was ordered came quickly and was delicious. Tables were cleared of dirty glasses and plates quickly and anytime we went to the bar we were served straight away even though they were quite busy. Will definitely visit again. Thanks to all of the team at the Fox & Dogs for making us so welcome.

Attended a family baby shower. Restaurant was occupied for the family baby shower and enjoyed a meal, which was really good. My mixed grill was amazing, really enjoyed it. My wife had haddock and chips, and there was plenty of it. Service was prompt and very helpful. A little crowded, and there should have been sanatisers on all tables. I was very happy with the air ventilation, so overall the COVID consideration was good. Take care with the parking though, and make sure you have registered your car in the bar!

The Fox it's set back from the road almost hidden by the surrounding shops , hence it tends to be missed . Car park has a one way sysytym , nothing to worry about . You have to put your car Regd in thier booking systym as it's used by shoppers , not diners or drinkers . Carvery plus other dishs . Good portion , good choice , large choice of seating , lighting was appropiate . Good choice fo drinks at the bar , plenty of staff , all busy , but served quickly . Well worth a visit , good parking , fair price , good portion , plesant staff . No moans .

Called in today at around 11.40 ish for lunch - 3 adults and a very small child - the place was empty - met at the dining room area by a female member of staff who asked us if we had booked a table, we said no, was that a problem? No, she could find us a table - did we have the app - No - well you need to download the app - you have to download the app and order from the app - you can't take our order at the table we said - no, you have to download the app - No thanks we said, we'll go somewhere else - It's Covid rules she said - It is not Covid rules, it is MAB/Ember Inns/Fox and Dogs rules - if the place was full I could maybe understand it but the place was empty apart from the 4 of us. And what if you don't have a smart phone ! So, we went to the Holly Bush at Little Hay - no booking - walked in, met by a lovely lady who said yes, we have a table and it's full table service - no fuss, no bother - had a lovely meal, served by lovely staff - we've also booked a table there for 6 on Saturday and a further one for 4 the following week - so Fox and Dogs, you've missed out there - keep your app and your Covid Rules, you've lost our custom going forward, those 14 covers and what would have been a spend of over £400 from those bookings and we certainly won't be recommending you.

Very welcoming pub. Servicing was excellent. Food was 10/10 and that’s coming from a picky eater good job chef. Will definitely become a regular for meals out.

Lovely welcome back from Ryan. Everywhere spotlessly clean, food was lovely and very fast service. Good choice as always on menus for food and drink.

It was quiet when we visited at 1pm in the afternoon, we were greeted by a charming waitress who showed us to our table which was round as we requested. Our orders were placed and we had drinks whilst waiting for our meals, service was excellent and the food was very good and we all agreed very tasty, with the government discount the price was excellent

Great meal, great interpretation of the COVID rules, really nice to feel like your are in a normal pub and not overwhelmed by rules

We visited for lunch after booking and happy to say all procedures were implemented, however the service and food was very disappointing. I asked for wine and soda but got only wine, had to remind, my wife ordered chillie noodles with prawns, nice veg and good flavour but hardly any noodles, had it sent back for noodles, my haddock and chips we're oily and overlooked, I had finished when my wife's dish reappeared. I ordered the cinnamon doughnut specifically requested custard and duly noted, after 25 minutes it arrived with ice cream. Overall it seemed unprofessional and sloppy.

We’ve been a few times now and the food is good but the most pleasing factor has been the quality of service delivered on each visit by the staff members.

Didn’t have a great experience last time but decided to give them another chance. So glad we did. Food was great and served on warm plates, (which was one of our issue last time). Very friendly staff who created a nice relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely go again.

A lovely pub, nice decor, good atmosphere. There is a wide variety of drinks and a good menu selection including s specialist vegan range. Friendly and polite staff.

Visited with 5 friends for lunch. The place wasn’t busy and it appeared only 2 staff on duty. This is a pub with a large dining area. Staff have to serve drinks take food orders at the bar and deliver food therefore you can be kept waiting. Service on this occasion was good. Unfortunately the food was served on cold plates so the food was cold after a few minutes. One dish was warm as it had been heated in the microwave so the meatball/ faggots were dry. We did complain about the plates and were told there isn’t anywhere to heat the plates in the kitchen! We’ve visited here on previous occasions and mentioned the plates but to no avail. Food was left because it was cold and we did mention this to the other person on duty who offered us a free dessert or coffee. Although this was a good gesture, sorting out the cold plates and less than hot food would be appreciated. Not sure we will visit again.

I live in north wales but myself and family were viewing a puppy in Lichfield on a Sunday afternoon. We were all peckish so thought we would stop for a Sunday lunch. Myself and husband often visit an ember close to us so searched for the nearest one. It turned out to be the Fox and Dogs. We all opted for the 3 course Sunday menu and were not disappointed. All meals came out in adequate time and all hot (the beef dinner was delicious). The staff were friendly and attentive even though they were busy. Lovely pub and when we get our bundle of joy we may pop in for a quick drink seeing as it’s dog friendly.

Have recently moved into the area and what an amazing pub we have found, dog friendly in the Bar area.Cask ale quality was amazing Food was very nice, well presented and good value for money.Have been in on a quiz night which is on every Wednesday, very busy and a fantastic atmosphere, we will definitely be returning

Me and my husband came here on Saturday to visit friends we had a wonderful time lovely atmosphere and lovely food and drink they had everything we wanted and drinks where cold and crisp.all staff seemed to love what they where doing and where very helpful in assisting my friend in the vegan menu..definitely will come again

Called into the Fox & Dogs with my husband, son & daughter in law for an early evening meal. Ordered our meal & drinks very easily with options given for each meal eg chips or potatoes. Young girl at the bar was knowledgeable with the menu & was very pleasant. Food came out in good time, hot & pleasing to look at. Each meal was very nice & extra drinks were ordered. Overall we had a very pleasant evening in nice, clean surroundings & a very pleasant atmosphere. Staff were well dressed & served with a smile. What more could you ask for. We will be visiting again.

After being at the Blues game with my dad, wife, and son, we decided to pop in on the way home for some dinner as we had a hungry little man on our hands. All the food was fantastic and the staffs manors were great to help keep our son occupied until his food arrived (which wasn’t long either as they got his out before ours so he was happy) this left him time for dessert after which topped his day off after seeing his team win and Ireland win the rugby. Our food was great as well, large portions, nice and hot. Drinks cold and fairly priced......we will be returning. Thank you

So its been a while since we have been to the Fox & Dogs, the Sunday lunch went down hill. Today I thought I would drop in for drinks and maybe eat, not good news - if you are the manager please take on board these comments

A warm and cosy decor, very inviting. Good service, portion sizes a bit small but food was nice and i would recommend.

Visited as a couple with our two dogs. As one of the limited pubs in the area which allows dogs in this was a first time try for us.

Went here for a family meal on a Sunday. Upon arrival, our table wasn't available despite the pub being mainly empty. We were eventually shown to our table and left to fend for ourselves.

The staff were really nice and friendly though there certainly weren't enough of them, the decor is tidy, though who thought tongue and groove on a bathroom wall would be a good idea, haven for germs in those black stains! We had a table booked for 15 at 1o'clock on a Sunday lunch time at the beginning of December. I was surprised that it was not busier but the rest of our visit made it very clear why. We all arrived on time and all meals with the exception of 2 (a child's meal and a gluten free meal had been pre-ordered). We sat at the table for ten minutes with no staff attention, so I went to fetch a child's menu myself from the bar, the gluten free menu was requested on two separate occasions and took at least 20 minutes to appear. Eventually, a member of staff came over and talked us through the order we had preordered, fair enough, double checking. Once these additional meals had been ordered we then waited for over an hour for the starters to be served! There was then a wait of another half an hour before main courses. These were in the main, cold, the sprouts were like mush and the child's sausage was cremated! One waitress served all 15 meals, so service was very slow. At this point the pub was practically empty so why other staff couldn't help her I don't know. So two hours after entering a three quarter empty pub with preordered meals we were finally served. By this point the children in the party were ready to eat the furniture, so ate all the food inspite of the very poor quality. The cabbage was a sparse sprinkling, two small carrots each, it looked very much like the kitchen had run out and had decided to split 3 meals between 10! We eventually left at 4.30! After preordering meals!

You can tell that this place struggles with getting patrons in when there is hardly any variety of ale on the pumps (this has been noticeable several times now) .... but I guess why offer up and waste beer if they have no one to drink it? Also be prepared if you want a Sunday roast (in a pub only 25% full) to have to wait +30mins for a poorly made Sunday roast dinner. Luke warm soup to start followed by a main event of Broiled chicken, roasted to death parsnip, peas, carrots and spouts boiled well beyond the idea of fresh veg and ready made Yorkshire’s. How the menu describes the food is miles from the reality. No love no care in the food here.... few bar staff no sign of a manager. Not sure why this pub can’t things right with the neighbourhood it has around it, on a Sunday lunch you would expect it to be packed but I can see why people don’t talk favourably of it with expensive drinks and poor food it’s no surprise.

I’ve lived within half a mile of this pub for many years but hardly bother to go in. On the odd occasion that I do I’m mostly disappointed.

We went to the fox as a family, 30 of us, we booked one long table but ended up being split up, the food was ordered and arrived, not good, burgers burnt, salad limp. They where just toooo busy, the staff where EXCELLENT and tried hard

An absolute great visit to this venue, me and a couple of friends had taken part in this quiz. We had Timothy Taylor Landlord, great pint and served beautifully.

We visit this pub quite regularly, food is ok. Staff are excellent and they serve a decent pint. There are no Michelin stars knocking around but overall as I said in the title, does exactly what it says on the tin.

This is an average pub I would say. Its your average pub with food. Wasn’t that impressed inside wasn’t very attractive.

It’s never going to be the greatest pub in the world but they serve a decent pint! the food is very much what you expect from a chain pub these days the curry is well above average. The staff were friendly and felt comfortable and relaxing there, we will be going back.

Where to start 1) staff looked less then impressed to be there on a bank holiday 2) we ordered 2 drinks both out of stock, 3) the chicken burger was burnt on the edge and dry 4) my partners steak was more fat then meat,very dissapointed to say the least.

There was a few of us there, minimal bar staff- a very long wait for a drink/service. Easy to park though.

Ok pub. Food quality could be better, seems overpriced for what it is. Waitress was polite. Can’t think of what else to say trip advisor wants 100 characters.

I came here for dinner with a couple of friends last week. We each had the set menu and all enjoyed our meals. The food was lovely, reasonably priced and we didn’t have to wait long for it to arrive. The staff were all pleasant and friendly. Will definitely return.

Visited for Sunday lunch with two friends. Friendly staff, good selection of food and nice atmosphere. The manager is such a nice guy. He has a smile and friendly word for everyone. Nothing is too much trouble. My friends had a starter dish as main course and I had the roast dinner. It was presented well and served hot. I would suggest that the beef could be cut thinner as it was a bit dry and tough in parts. However it was tasty and I only mentioned it because it detracted a little from the otherwise amazing meal. We use this place on a regular basis and are never disappointed.

Called in while passing for Sunday lunch, expectations weren't too high just looking for basic roast. However, did not expect to be served the scraps of a beef joint which turned out to be 70 per cent gristle. Almost choked on one piece of what looked like beef but turned out to be gristle. Scary! Hindsight confirms that I should not have accepted meal in first instance. I did complain and the manager apologised, and we received two deserts free of charge. Nevertheless don't think would risk a return visit. There was a children's party in progress with a playbus parked on the car park, and parents continually in and out of the back door, so maybe this impacted on the efficiency of the kitchen in serving such a poor lunch. To add insult to injury when I complained was advised that it was a 'shame' as they had just taken out a fresh roast?

Popped in for a few quiet drinks with my partner, the wine was okay but the heat was unbearable, we drank up and left, I doubt we shall go again.

Wow! Visited here a couple of years ago and went back for food on Tuesday night. Food was fantastic, drink superb!

Matt the new manager and the team has become our local even though it is not our local, love the friendly welcome with staff & local residence and the cosy feeling with the fire and the candles. The food is very good and Ben who delivers the food is very helpful & polite, wish Matt and the team was our actual local and we didn't have to drive to it, well done guys!

We tried this pub out again after a terrible visit 2 years ago. There was 9 of us in the party. The food took over 40 minutes to arrive from ordering, there was only about 4 other tables in the whole pub. We ordered the trio Sunday roast with a desert for a total of £13 per head. The plates were cold, the veg was the frozen mixed veg type that you buy from the supermarket and use in an emergency. The meat was quite nice chicken and the fat of two other unknown animals. The service was extremely slow. One positive was the microwaved desert tasted quite nice. In all, horrendously over priced and very low quality coupled with ridiculously slow service. We gave this pub another chance as we only live around the corner, but never again, no more chances. I hope you will avoid this place after reading this, its just not worth your hard earned money.

We’ve been here a few times for lunch and dinner. The service is always very quick and the food is always okay as far as pub food goes. The prices are good, with plenty of parking outside. Will be returning.

Having had a bad experience previously decided to give it another go at lunchtime as its under new management. So pleased we did. The atmosphere was friendly and the place was warm and welcoming. The food is freshly cooked so you have to wait (not too long) and it's worth it. We will be going again.

This is an excellent venue for a business meeting or dining with friends. The food is freshly made and excellent. The staff are efficient and friendly. It is quiet and tastefully decorated. I would recommend the special burger or steak. Sometimes it is worth the...

We visited for an early meal and it was great, good quick service and really good food. Not as busy...

Decided to go out after having a lazy Sunday for evening meal and as this is a local pub it seemed ideal. It was not busy at all and we seated ourselves and ordered at till as is normally done. The atmosphere was dead and so was the food. It came very quickly and the waiter just dumped the food and did not check if we needed anything like sauces etc and we had to call him back. My daughters meal was cold and they got my husbands and sons meals the wrong way around with the wrong sides. They re heated my daughters meal not replaced with new one and then didn't even apologise as we had finished eating when hers arrived. If this is what it's like when quiet God help them when it's busy or maybe that's why it's not busy! Will never go again!

Me and my wife went here last night it was warm friendly decent pint of Carling yes we had to order at bar but so what can’t believe people make such a fuss to be waited on hand and foot do all these people have butlers at home I very much doubt it ...!!! Anyway we had starters and and mains both come out quick and was piping hot and value for money was top notch this will be our new place for meals from now on as we used to go to Blake’s barn but no more believe me when I say the fox’s and dogs will knock that place into fits on value,food , beer , prices all round the best pub grub in mere green and surrounding areas it was quite empty probably 15-20 people in I don’t know why maybe cause it’s January ! I will certainly recommend it to everyone I know and all our family meals will be held there from now on ... so just try it I’m sure you will love it as we do off there again tonight ..

Good food and very pleasant staff. Our first visit and hopefully we will return if we are ever back in the area.

It is some time since I last visited the Fox and Dogs and there had been a definite improvement. It is now an Ember Inn and has a good choice on the menu. I tried the 'posh fish and chips' and it was delicious. A couple of items weren't available on the dessert menu but we opted for something instead. I was happy with the cheesecake I picked. The staff were very friendly and helpful.We had opted for a pub for our 'girls' night out so we had the chance to chat, which is sometimes difficult in the smaller noisier restaurants in Mere Green. The Fox and Dogs fitted the bill perfectly for this. We discovered they had a quiz on Wednesday nights so will definitely be returning to dine again and perhaps try out the quiz.

Called in for a quick lunch and pint. Had a sandwich which was well presented and tasty. Reasonable price and nice beer. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. The menu looked varied and good value.

Very warm welcome from charming, competent and professional staff. Beers in good condition and reasonably priced; sound wine list from which we chose a good reliable Campo Viejo Rioja. Short rib beef with sauce Bordelaise and lemon sole were really good. Looking forward to going back in. February. Very good VFM for a very pleasant meal and visit. Anyone could visit with the assurance of a good time!

Came in tonight for a cheap and quick dinner with my partner and daughter.. more than anything I was impressed with the gentleman greeting and taking the plates away.. he was wearing a striped shirt and a Santa hat. Honestly an asset to this pub, so friendly in an age where customer service isn’t always apparent.

From the outside this pub and restaurant looks impressive. Nice landscaped front garden and ample parking. The ales are okay, I had to send one back because it had gone off though.

A welcoming pub in the village of Walmley Sutton Coldfield. It offer excellent food at very reasonable rates...all day breakfast and carvery. Locals eat here on a regular basis

Food was pretty good, service quick and most staff friendly. Could have done without entertainer singer/guitar player which was far too loud in pub which when we visited at 5.30pm was quite empty apart from a couple of families with children running around everywhere. Just like all Ember Inns we visit heating not working and instead using ugly plug in radiatiors. Here’s hoping when we come on Christmas day the atmosphere is better.

As a group we have visited this place on a number of occasions at lunchtime. The service is always slow but today it was particularly poor. When we mentioned this we were told there was only one person in the kitchen and they had a large party coming in at 2pm. Had staff explained there may be a delay then we would have been prepared but there wasn't any communication. Also it was very cold in there. Apparently the heating had broken and the delivery of the logs for the log fire had not arrived. I'm not sure the management of the place is as organised as it could be.

Had a lovely meal this evening with my family. The food was cooked to perfection and the staff were lovely and very helpful. I would highly recommend this lovely pub.

Popped in for a quicky pint, beer was well kept and served just right. The food looked good but I wasn't stopping. Sorry this is only a short review.

It has been 10 years since we visited this establishment. Two years ago it was completely refurbished and taken over by ember inns we decided to revisit. We took our son ,wife and children for an evening meal. We arrived at six o'clock was greeted and shown to an empty restaurant ,drinks were ordered from the bar which was very busy and had a good selection of guest ales. The children ordered from their menu which offered small meals and ''big kids'' meals. My grandson ordered sausage and mash and my granddaughter pasta with garlic bread both from the ''big kids '' menu. My son chose fish cakes with scallions,his wife chose beef lasagne, my wife ordered asparagras risotto and I ordered ribeye steak. The mash portion on my grandson's meal was very mean and the grilled tomato on my dish had just been ''shown'' the grill was stone cold and inedible and the steak was very chewy but all in all good pub food. The children both ordered puddings at £I each from their menu but the adults abstained.It would appear that the Mere Green redevelopment of bars and eateries has taken quite a lot of trade ,it may appeal to the trendy youngsters but hopefully the more mature diner who likes a clean bright restaurant will return here it deserves a visit.

I felt I needed to write a review regarding the Fox and Dogs. We have visited here quite a few times over the last 6 months. The food is generally of a very good standard, it is becoming more busy and last week we came and there was also a large party for birthday celebrations there, so we expected a delay, but no all our meals came relatively quickly. Compared to the pretentious restaurant we went to in Mere Green was very good value. My only gripe is when ordering food there is sometimes a delay as they are serving at the bar.

Myhusband had fish and chips with mush peas - fish ok, peas ok but not many chips! I had sweel chilli noodles with chicken - said tiny piece of chicken cost an extra £2! I twas tasty but I could have eaten more....... Quite expensive considering a pub and the size of the portions....

Birthday meal and family get together. 4 of our party had the boneless rib with bordelaise sauce which was dry and the sauce none existent, we requested more sauce which eventually came by this time the meal was cold. when my husband complained it was dealt with quite aggressively and he eventually agreed not to charge us for the meals but we were charged for the extra sauce. wii not be in a hurry to use Ember Inns in the future.

The Fox and Dogs is a large pub built in the 30's which has been fully refurbished and offers a variety of spaces in which to eat and drink. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The menu was varied and there are real ales available. It's part of a chain which I like because the menu is familiar from branch to branch. A very pleasant and reasonably priced place to have a lunch or a drink.

Never had a bad meal here... Very typical of the chain and brand. Much nicer inside than it ever used to be and far more family orientated now too. Overall a pleasant and comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Average wait for pub food which is always decent, warm and reasonably priced. Not sure what else people expect from a gastro pub?! ☺
