Just poped in again for their fish and chip takeaway tried to charge more than they should. ( no apology ) of which I pulled them up for it was a genuine mistake of which I accepted. I raised an issue on a previous take away of which chips were very small must have been the last in the hopper there was no apology! the owner was always fine before ( she was not there at the time ) it was no doubt the staff did not take a shine I was disappointed and will return to the other one in the Town now.

On our way back from a trip around southern Wiltshire we called in here to look around at home furnishings, clothing, kitchen equipment and garden supplies et al. We wandered around for a good hour before visiting the first floor in-store café, where we enjoyed a passably-good Americano coffee with hot milk. Sadly the coffee lacked strength and richness, and there was no bitter taste (the latter is often a good indication of quality coffee beans). The coffee served was satisfactorily hot and in good sized cups but my Partner and I have had better elsewhere for £2.85 a cup.

Quirky dishes & prices!! My trout slices were minimal & chewy & expensive. Service was slow though we were given some iced water while waiting.

We went outside Keele University term time. It was quiet. We got good service. I had the oatcakes. I am a local, and know oatcakes. Visitors (parents of students etc) might be really impressed. I was less so. I am not so used to a few large mushrooms with the cheese. I would suggest slicing them and spreading them all over. The cheese could have had a greater presence too. And maybe a less greasy oatcake. My friend’s fish fingers sandwich was however excellent. Apparently it came with an espresso cup of carrot soup; which I enjoyed. He said it was first rate, and he is a bit picky. We enjoyed a side order of chip. Yes really chips, not fries. So we will certainly return, but maybe try something different.

Great new venture, that has been open about 4 months. I was served by the welcoming Izzie, and had two lovely black coffees and a flapjack. It's early days for the business, so just a small selection of cake at the moment. Plenty of parking, seating inside and out, and dog friendly. WiFi is available, too. As the business grows, it is listening to what customers want, and bacon sandwiches are on the 'to do' list. Cash only at the moment, so take some change. Well done, Izzie! Chris.

A very special pub with superb food and laid back friendly service. Great drinks selection and a roaring fire made the evening even better. We all enjoyed our meals so very much - from the pigeon wellington to the chicken burger, faultless throughout. Definitely recommend!

Had not been for several years. It did not disappoint. The menu was varied but not lengthy with a choice of small and large plates plus pub classics. The food was very well presented, freshly cooked and delicious. The portions were generous but not overwhelming. The welcome and service was friendly, competent and delightful. We had a lovely time. Last but not least, the prices were a good reflection of all of the above. Book now!

We've been here a few times but it is close to family so we went again for Sunday lunch. My wife and I plumped for the whole plaice and wished we hadn't once it arrived. It came with just a couple of little sprigs of broccoli but was smothered in capers which were so salty that my wife couldn't eat hers. I scraped it all clear and did eat the fish but it was such a shame to spoil the fish. My son had the lamb and our daughter the veggie stew both od which were polished off. The sticky toffee puddings were OK and I had the pumpkin cheese cake which was possibly the weirest dessert I've ever had. Biscuit base, sour cheese runny mess on the top with lumps of toffee that were so sticky they were almost imnpossible to chew. Coffee was por. We did get a dessert for free due to the fish but we won't be going back.
