Idyllic spot but the food was disappointing. The beetroot hummus barely tasted of beetroot and the large dollop of mashed potato that came with the chicken breast was tasteless and reminded me of Smash (reconstituted potato). Dessert was good and the service excellent but let down by the food. I did feed this back to the chef and I hope they do better next time as it really is a lovely old pub.

Yes, it's a nice old pub in a beautiful setting. Also on a nice circular walk from and to Castle Combe. We stopped for refreshment around lunchtime, and were greeted by a very exuberant young lady offering a seat in the restaurant. When we declined we were ushered into the bar area and left to wait for 10 minutes or more to be served - there was no sign of other customers. When eventually served, the drinks and bar snacks were fine. Lovely spot but please don't sideline your customers, which is how I felt.

All time favourite dog friendly place to stay. The staff were so accommodating to our little pooch…. Setting him a place at the table and giving him his own sausage at breakfast. Very nice food. Great beer garden in a gorgeous location by the river. Found a nice walk up into the woods close by. Perfect location. Not far from CastleCombe and Bibury. Two other stunning villagers. Rooms decorated in great style. Knocked off a star as the bedding wasn’t the best. But otherwise, hugely recommend this place especially if you are travelling with your pooch!

Such a beautiful pub is a great location! It was great to have the option of lovely country walks and the bustle of Bath and Bristol all within close distance of the pub. Beer was great, food was really good, clean room, comfy bed, literally the only negative I can say is the shower was small and very noisy! Overall though, I would highly recommend this beautiful pub for a little getaway.

Whilst the Sunday lunch was lovely. Parking was a nightmare!! We were informed on arrival even though we booked in advance that the car park is used by walkers which meant we were 20 minutes late for our 2hr time slot booking. We were a group of 7 adults. We skipped starters due to the time constraint but were then informed 15 minutes before the end of our 2hr slot which was actually 1:40hr, that we couldn’t have dessert because we had run out of time. Disappointing given this was a birthday meal. Unfortunately we shall not be returning.

A lovely quaint pub in the countryside. The food was mostly nice, however my fish pie was luke warm...tasty but not cooked long enough. Bizarrely I couldn't actually get my legs under the table. i can't be the first person to notice this. I'm tall, but not large and the chair felt too high. I had to sit with my legs splayed ( i did tell one of the staff and we tried a few other chairs but they were all the same height). However the staff were all very pleasant, and everyone thought the food was nice, just not amazing.

Arrived at the pub today after a 3 hour dog walk wanting some lunch before we headed home. Went in to the restaurant asking for a table of four and was told there was no space even though multiple tables were clear. Bought drinks and decided what to order and were given menus to order, then went to the bar to order and was told they weren’t serving food due to multiple orders and a lack of staff. We should have been told this when we arrived as we wouldn’t have purchased drinks costing us £17. Really poor experience and we left feeling very disappointed. Restaurant missed out on 4 customers and us ever returning again.

Sadly not a great review coming , we took our 1 year old for a meal and they were so unhelpful and rude , asked for food for the baby made it clear it was for her it said mixture of veg they brought out adult portion of giant carrots nothing else so things she couldn't really eat, the children's fish goujons were over cooked and solid again making it impossiblefor her to eat was solid, ploughman's had grated cheese in a small pot no other cheese at all?! Very disappointed, it's a shame as the pub it's self is beautiful and the grounds are amazing, the blonde lady working seemed to dislike us from the get go irrated by our child even though the booking stated baby coming high chair needed she snapped saying i wasnt aware a high chair was needed 🤦🏽‍♀️. Sat us between a party of older adults instead of slightly out the way with a baby , so we couldn't relax as we didn't want to distrupt the other people enjoyment. P.s as can't seem to reply to your response, it was most definitely your establishment, I have pictures of my daughter sat at the table im happy to send over , your response seems a bit off denying I was there , I understand sometimes things can go a bit wrong perhaps asking me then date incase there would of been more appropriate.

Great food and locations unfortunately that’s where it ends. The landlady (I assume she was the landlady) was one of the rudest people I’ve ever been served by. This was becoming our Christmas Eve tradition for food. But won’t go back. I can’t work out if she thought she was being funny, but her snide comments just came accross as plain rude. Ruined our Christmas Eve meal. If she doesn’t want to work Christmas Eve don’t be in the service industry. Won’t be going back.

Very friendly staff which you can tell put in a lot of effort to maintain the premises and actually care about the pub. The decor is minimal with great small details with large enough tables for a big family - visited 11/11/24 and every member of staff was brilliant. Will be back again - many thanks ! We visited the pub for a celebratory meal on Saturday lunchtime. The location and pub itself is absolutely beautiful. However, we had a very poor experience of food and service which we were quite surprised about considering the reviews we read. Some of us had the mussels to start: they were full of grit and very crunchy! When the starter dishes were collected, I mentioned this to the server. It was barely acknowledged. The main courses were mostly traditional pub food which was pretty standard. I had the hake dish which was so disappointing. The piece of hake was absolutely tiny and so overcooked and the samphire was inedible due the stalkiness. These issues would not usually cause me to write a negative review but at no point, did any member of staff ask how our meal was and when I did give the feedback about the mussels, it was as good as ignored. We paid over £300 for our meal for 6 which is a huge amount of money when you leave feeling disappointed. Normally I tell the world and his wife if we have a good experience somewhere but I wouldn't recommend The White Hart.

We phoned ahead to tell them we were still on our way and was asking if we could put our order in because we suspected the kitchen would be closing relatively soon. One of the staff, he told us that the kitchen had just closed and they were no longer doing food!! As an ex-hospitality worker of 6 years, if you’re going to take bookings up until 9pm, your kitchen SHOULD NOT be closed until those bookings have either been seated or were no-shows. The triple cooked chips were perfect - crunchy and golden on the outside and fluffy white in the middle. The staff were very friendly and polite, and service was speedy. We found this by pure accident, and although a good hundred miles from home, I can't wait to visit again!

We have been to the white hart many times as it’s our local, and several times we have dined here with no issues. We’ve always loved the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff, it’s been well styled inside and out and dogs are welcomed with open arms! We went for dinner on Friday and whilst we appreciate it wasn’t the waiting staff’s fault, the service was incredibly slow. Upon entering at 7:30pm we overheard a staff member say it was a 30 minute wait on food. This was no problem. However after being seating and ordering at just before 8, we received the starter at 8:10ish and then waited until 9:10 for the main course. We had noted that others around us who had arrived later were receiving their food in the meantime and were a little bit disappointed. Despite this, we enjoyed the food (as usual!) and had the opportunity to buy many drinks while we waited! We love this pub so much and go to support them whenever we can, we just hope that the service could be a bit speedier in the future. Thank you, we did have a fun evening and love the overall atmosphere as well as range of drinks on offer!

Fabulous community owned pub run by professional landlords Charlie and Hannah. Food out of this world, brilliant selection of real ales and wines, wood burning stoves and all in a beautiful 16th century Inn! What more do you want!?

Former employee posting: Do not give this company your custom. Employers have refused to pay owed tips and outstanding holiday pay to all staff despite consistent reminders, and are now withholding tips and threatening employees. Tips have not been received by staff since January this year. This was a hard working group of employees who do not deserve to be treated this way. For a pub with expensive pricing the profit is not seen by those doing the hard work.

Came for dinner and were very disappointed by the food. Service was good, not many gluten free options (my partner is celiac) but staff were accommodating. The food however was pretty bleak. Not sure if the chef was having an off day or what, as most reviews seem to be positive. I had the chicken souvlaki which had very little chicken, was greasier than a 3am kebab and absolutely drowning in sauce. My partner had the 1/2 chicken which I can only describe as mummified. It looked and tasted like it had been reheated or sat under a heat lamp drying out for hours. Not what you want for almost 20 quid a main...
