Such a beautiful pub is a great location! It was great to have the option of lovely country walks and the bustle of Bath and Bristol all within close distance of the pub. Beer was great, food was really good, clean room, comfy bed, literally the only negative I can say is the shower was small and very noisy! Overall though, I would highly recommend this beautiful pub for a little getaway.

Whilst the Sunday lunch was lovely. Parking was a nightmare!! We were informed on arrival even though we booked in advance that the car park is used by walkers which meant we were 20 minutes late for our 2hr time slot booking. We were a group of 7 adults. We skipped starters due to the time constraint but were then informed 15 minutes before the end of our 2hr slot which was actually 1:40hr, that we couldn’t have dessert because we had run out of time. Disappointing given this was a birthday meal. Unfortunately we shall not be returning.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at The White Hart Inn! We were warmly welcomed and thoroughly looked after by all staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable with beautiful serene surroundings. We went on a lengthy walk from the pub up to Castle Combe and back down through the village of Long Dean that was absolutely stunning. Highly recommend a stay here to slow down and enjoy nature, would love to be back in the warmer months to enjoy the outdoors of the pub and the surrounding area.

A lovely quaint pub in the countryside. The food was mostly nice, however my fish pie was luke warm...tasty but not cooked long enough. Bizarrely I couldn't actually get my legs under the table. i can't be the first person to notice this. I'm tall, but not large and the chair felt too high. I had to sit with my legs splayed ( i did tell one of the staff and we tried a few other chairs but they were all the same height). However the staff were all very pleasant, and everyone thought the food was nice, just not amazing.

Arrived at the pub today after a 3 hour dog walk wanting some lunch before we headed home. Went in to the restaurant asking for a table of four and was told there was no space even though multiple tables were clear. Bought drinks and decided what to order and were given menus to order, then went to the bar to order and was told they weren’t serving food due to multiple orders and a lack of staff. We should have been told this when we arrived as we wouldn’t have purchased drinks costing us £17. Really poor experience and we left feeling very disappointed. Restaurant missed out on 4 customers and us ever returning again.

Great food and locations unfortunately that’s where it ends. The landlady (I assume she was the landlady) was one of the rudest people I’ve ever been served by. This was becoming our Christmas Eve tradition for food. But won’t go back. I can’t work out if she thought she was being funny, but her snide comments just came accross as plain rude. Ruined our Christmas Eve meal. If she doesn’t want to work Christmas Eve don’t be in the service industry. Won’t be going back.

Sadly not a great review coming , we took our 1 year old for a meal and they were so unhelpful and rude , asked for food for the baby made it clear it was for her it said mixture of veg they brought out adult portion of giant carrots nothing else so things she couldn't really eat, the children's fish goujons were over cooked and solid again making it impossiblefor her to eat was solid, ploughman's had grated cheese in a small pot no other cheese at all?! Very disappointed, it's a shame as the pub it's self is beautiful and the grounds are amazing, the blonde lady working seemed to dislike us from the get go irrated by our child even though the booking stated baby coming high chair needed she snapped saying i wasnt aware a high chair was needed 🤦🏽‍♀️. Sat us between a party of older adults instead of slightly out the way with a baby , so we couldn't relax as we didn't want to distrupt the other people enjoyment. P.s as can't seem to reply to your response, it was most definitely your establishment, I have pictures of my daughter sat at the table im happy to send over , your response seems a bit off denying I was there , I understand sometimes things can go a bit wrong perhaps asking me then date incase there would of been more appropriate.

Three of us had excellent meals, sadly not the fourth, my fish pie was dry and barely warm (I think it could have been delicious) and the heritage carrots were nicely cooked but cold, also cold virtually raw cabbage - such a shame! Food is very reasonably priced with a great portion size the fish tasted incredibly fresh with a crispy batter and soft flaky texture. Very friendly staff which you can tell put in a lot of effort to maintain the premises and actually care about the pub. The decor is minimal with great small details with large enough tables for a big family - visited 11/11/24 and every member of staff was brilliant. Will be back again - many thanks ! In the Cotswolds, beneath skies so bright, The White Hart welcomed us for lunch, just right. Twenty-seven gathered, eager to see, What the Pie of the Day might possibly be. For days we wondered, would it be bold? The answer: steak and mushroom, a tale well told. A curious blend that none thought of first, But one savory bite and all fears dispersed. The fish and chips, golden, crisp delight, Baked Camembert, warm, a gooey sight. The staff were kind, so friendly, so sweet, Attentive to all, they couldn’t be beat. We visited the pub for a celebratory meal on Saturday lunchtime. The location and pub itself is absolutely beautiful. However, we had a very poor experience of food and service which we were quite surprised about considering the reviews we read. Some of us had the mussels to start: they were full of grit and very crunchy! When the starter dishes were collected, I mentioned this to the server. It was barely acknowledged. The main courses were mostly traditional pub food which was pretty standard. I had the hake dish which was so disappointing. The piece of hake was absolutely tiny and so overcooked and the samphire was inedible due the stalkiness. These issues would not usually cause me to write a negative review but at no point, did any member of staff ask how our meal was and when I did give the feedback about the mussels, it was as good as ignored. We paid over £300 for our meal for 6 which is a huge amount of money when you leave feeling disappointed. Normally I tell the world and his wife if we have a good experience somewhere but I wouldn't recommend The White Hart.

We phoned ahead to tell them we were still on our way and was asking if we could put our order in because we suspected the kitchen would be closing relatively soon. One of the staff, he told us that the kitchen had just closed and they were no longer doing food!! As an ex-hospitality worker of 6 years, if you’re going to take bookings up until 9pm, your kitchen SHOULD NOT be closed until those bookings have either been seated or were no-shows. We have been to the white hart many times as it’s our local, and several times we have dined here with no issues. We’ve always loved the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff, it’s been well styled inside and out and dogs are welcomed with open arms! We went for dinner on Friday and whilst we appreciate it wasn’t the waiting staff’s fault, the service was incredibly slow. Upon entering at 7:30pm we overheard a staff member say it was a 30 minute wait on food. This was no problem. However after being seating and ordering at just before 8, we received the starter at 8:10ish and then waited until 9:10 for the main course. We had noted that others around us who had arrived later were receiving their food in the meantime and were a little bit disappointed. Despite this, we enjoyed the food (as usual!) and had the opportunity to buy many drinks while we waited! We love this pub so much and go to support them whenever we can, we just hope that the service could be a bit speedier in the future. Thank you, we did have a fun evening and love the overall atmosphere as well as range of drinks on offer!

We booked the White Hart in Ford, by accident. The happiest of accidents it turned out to be! The hotel, the grounds, the restaurant and the service were all exceptional. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We were made to feel so welcome, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and I must say, Tomas made the BEST coffee I had in the UK (apparently I am a coffe snob!). The room was glorious, our meals were some of the best we experienced in 5 weeks (UK, Italy and France), the prices were very reasonable. Not to mention the stunning buildings and scenery. If I could give 10 stars, I would. I only wish we'd stayed an extra night instead of heading up to The Frogmill the following night ( twice the price, half the service and whilst pretty, the friendliness, atmosphere and welcoming nature and excellent food was all lacking severely in comparison to The White Hart). We've already decided we'll be back next time we make the trek from Australia to the UK. If you're thinking about it, just book it, you won't regret it!! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

A more senior staff member came to the bar and I asked him to serve me. He refused as he , “ was in the restaurant and were a bit light today”. I asked him if that was a no and he said, “Yes”. However I still had to pay the full price for this contempt. We are local. Not tourists. The customer is not always right at the White Hart on Ford. Btw. The pub was not busy in the bar or restaurant. A pity. One bad customer experience reveals the true attitude of the place.

What an absolute gem! My husband and I wanted someplace close to Castle Combe and this was not only affordable, but so clean and adorable inside. Parking was ample, and we had a full English breakfast included with our stay which was excellent and prompt. Checkin was easy! I loved this classic little B&B and would definitely recommend.

I have been bringing friends here for over 10 years and have always loved the food and the service however the service today was poor to say the least. First of all we were asked if we wanted drinks before having the opportunity to look at the menus, which isn't a problem itself, but when I asked if they had a white zinfandel (which is very rarely anything other than a rose), I was told yes. What arrived was a white wine that was not white zinfandel nor the zinfandel they had on the menu (which was a red) so I said I didn't want it. I then had an incredibly rude and space invasive manager over my back snatching the wine menu from me and shoving the paper version of it in front of me saying that a white zinfandel was not a rose but was a red (which wasn't what brought out anyway). What was most amusing is that he spoke to me as if I knew nothing about wine not knowing that I actually hold a WSET L2 award. Secondly, no starter cutlery was given to us, nor was our cutlery replaced when mains arrived. On top of that, two of our party require gluten free and were upset to see that the only dessert options were ice cream or affogato (ice cream with coffee). Disappointing and embarrassing as I suggested that we went there for our lunch. I believe there was a recent change in staff and management and it's a shame the place now has rude and unknowledgeable people there

Dear Management, I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the treatment my friends and I received at your establishment on May 8th. Despite our excitement to dine at White Hart, our experience was marred by unprofessionalism and disrespect from your staff. Upon arrival, we admittedly did not have a dinner reservation, which was our oversight. However, we initially intended to enjoy drinks before dining. Despite our polite inquiries about ordering drinks, we were met with eye rolls and dismissive behavior from your staff. We were directed to the bar in a manner that lacked any semblance of courtesy. Furthermore, when we inquired about the possibility of dining at your restaurant, we were abruptly told that it was not an option. This response was not only discourteous but also lacked professionalism. Despite the apparent lack of business, as evidenced by numerous empty tables, we were denied service without any valid explanation. Throughout our brief interaction with your staff, we felt unwelcome and unwanted. The recurring eye rolls and insistence for us to leave immediately further reinforced this sentiment. As paying customers, we expected to be treated with basic respect and courtesy, which were clearly absent during our visit. It is deeply concerning that such behavior is tolerated within your establishment. As patrons, we deserve to feel valued and appreciated, regardless of whether we have made a reservation. I sincerely hope that this feedback prompts a reassessment of your staff's conduct and a commitment to ensuring a more welcoming environment for all customers in the future.

Former employee posting: Do not give this company your custom. Employers have refused to pay owed tips and outstanding holiday pay to all staff despite consistent reminders, and are now withholding tips and threatening employees. Tips have not been received by staff since January this year. This was a hard working group of employees who do not deserve to be treated this way. For a pub with expensive pricing the profit is not seen by those doing the hard work.

Booked in advance for overnight stopover in our motorhome and to have an evening meal in the pub. Such a welcoming and friendly place! The food was absolutely delicious.
