Absolutely dreadful! Advertised a la carte menu replaced with a 'bar' menu. Took the waiter 15 minutes to bring a menu and ask if we'd like drinks 40 minutes for food to arrive which was not hot. The pork belly my colleague had was wrapped in gooey fat not crackling, the pumpkin sauce was a teaspoon of orange 'something' and the seasonal veg was mashed potato and some peas. The chicken burger was deep fried and tasted of old fryer fat as did the 'tepid' skin in chips. Presentation of the burger was non existent and the two tiny leaves of lettuce were brown. This was fed back to the waiter when he finally returned to our table his response was he'd mention it to the Chef. The after dinner treat of sticky toffee pudding was solid and rubbery, not moist. The tiniest bit of ice cream and a token gesture at the sauce all was tepid. The dining room was cold and drafty. The decor tired and wall paper peeling off the ceiling and walls. Utterly awful experience with nobody interested in the overall shoddiness of the service and food. Really disappointing, especially as this is the closest hotel to work. A real missed opportunity for this Hotel and Restaurant.

This is the worst 4* hotel I have stayed in. Lacks staff. Breakfast took far too long and was nowhere near a 4* breakfast. Asked for some sauce and the catering size bottle was brought out as they hadn’t time to put it in a dish. Both mornings woken by chairs & tables being dragged along the floors downstairs. Bedroom tiny, toilet seat broken & plaster coming off the bathroom wall. Shower had a beam in it so you couldn’t have a shower without banging your head. Someone else’s socks left beside my bed. Cleaners banging around in the cupboards outside the room at 8am and knocked on the door to service the room at 8.50am.

I live quite locally and thought this would be a good place to take my mum for mothers day. When we intially popped in to book there was a power cut, the receptionist took a number and said she would call, no call came so we went back in and the same receptionist did a bad job of pretending she didn't regonise us, no apology given however we booked afternoon tea. Both my self and my mother wouldn't recommend, some of the cakes had clearly been hanging around for a while. For what it cost, and the quality we left wishing we had gone else where. The staff were pleasent and attentive while we had afternoon tea, however we were (from we could see) the only one's in the hotel!

The worst Afternoon Tea I've ever experienced, in terms of the quality and presentation of the food as well as the severe lack of customer service. I booked for Mother's Day, having not visited since my Wedding Reception held at Guyer's House so was very much looking forward to visiting again many years on. What a shock I had. Firstly, after booking weeks in advance, I fail to understand why the afternoon tea took an hour to be served, especially when there were only approximately 6 other people in the entire restaurant. Something I was willing to initially overlook. When it was eventually brought out, we were shocked by the general appearance of ripped up pieces of ham and what looked like processed cheese slices inside, but also to find that the bread felt crispy like it had been sat out for ages, so we mentioned that they didn't appear to be fresh to the waitress, who clearly had never dealt with such a situation before and so looked at me as if I was crazy. She took them away. The second batch then came out, see photos attached, and how they would ever dream of charging someone £25 per head for sandwiches produced like that, I have no idea. These were also crispy and stale. Again, on explaining our dissatisfaction I was faced by a member of staff who gave no apology or understanding whatsoever, and just looked at me as though I was the most unreasonable person on the planet. That later turns out to be the manager..... It's one thing to serve a substandard dish, but to not appreciate or apologise when that food is served and issues pointed out by the customer, is a whole new level of bad customer service. On leaving the venue we received a frosty reception with a bill basically slapped on the desk at reception, 'I've taken 25% off', no apology or explanation, and when I stated I was not happy to pay the whole amount the manager stated she couldn't do anything about it. I again explained that the sandwiches looked like my 5 year old had made them, they were stale, that the service from the staff has been horrendous and so I confirmed again I would not be paying the whole bill, if she'd prefer, I would leave and pay nothing at all, to which she nonchalantly said 'ok' and let us leave. I had a personal connection to this venue which is why I feel so passionately about sharing my experience, and so this review is to warn people of the service (or lack of) that you can expect if you decide to visit this venue, and if you are considering having a wedding or event here take serious caution with how you proceed. I feel so passionately that these things could so easily have been avoided, and possibly rectified should the staff members have had any customer service training whatsoever. The employees that I encountered made us all feel unwelcome, and uncomfortable, and I have never walked out of anywhere without paying the bill in my life - just so that you can appreciate what sort of person is writing this review! I almost want to reach out to the owner of this venue and help them correct these issues, before it's too late and their reputation completely goes down the pan. It's actually very sad for such a potentially beautiful venue, especially as I have seen it at its best in the past. After reading other reviews on here today, they would have been enough to encourage me to book a table elsewhere. A lesson learned! Read the reviews!! As a side note, if the staff read this, the following day I visited The Roman Baths; please take a trip to the Roman Baths one day - see how warmly every single one of them welcomes you, and really goes above and beyond to make your experience a positive one, that's what customer service really is and it's a real genuine shame that this is lacking at Guyer's house.

This is a follow up to our review made last month regarding monies taken out of our bank account for goods and services not received. We have written a letter asking for an itemised bill but we have received no reply as the manager has no interest in this once lovely hotel and unfortunately it will cost us more money to take the matter further and now decided to cut our losses and will NEVER return to this awful place again. I hope the owners of this place take notice of these many poor reviews and act before the place goes down the pan. If you are looking for a lovely hotel with nice food- go somewhere else.

I don't normally write reviews but this place is perfect for constructive criticism that would turn a very nice Manor house into a fabulous experience. My wife and myself happen to go there via a dinning experience gift and this place was in a very nice location. Although we couldn't stay there due to no rooms available a very nice local bed and breakfast put us up. On arrival the Guyers Hotel is a large picturesque country building with ample parking and as its December a great Christmas vibe, the set festive menu was as expected with things like turkey and Christmas pudding to put you in the mood. Like I said this experience was a 3 course meal for 2 with champagne, now when you order champagne you do expect a waiter to open the bottle and pour 2 glasses for you but I think the young man was a little wet behind the ears as he left the unopened bottle in the wine cooler for me to do the honors. This was very comical to me but I would think many other people who would be less than impressed. The champagne was very nice and come the food starters was tasty and mains followed with my wife going for turkey and beef for myself. The turkey she said was moist but my beef was well over cooked and the creamed horseradish missing from the plate, the potatoes nice if a little pail but the roast veg (carrots and parsnip) were under done. Then half way through my wife found string on her turkey that the chef failed to notice, dessert was nice I had the sticky toffee pudding and my wife had Christmas pudding with a very well made brandy sauce. So for the cost of this I do think the food needs more attention to detail but it would not take much to put these things right. Not the worst but could be better without too much trouble.

I thought hard about whether to write this, as really, we should have complained properly at the time. But, there was no manager - and we with friends on their ‘last night’ before returning to Australia and life is too short. Where to start… The person on the hotel reception seemed bored/ bemused when we asked our way to the restaurant. So we found our own way to the room, which was empty but for one silent family sat in the corner. There was zero energy and no staff in the room at 19.00 on a Saturday night. We went looking for one of two very young, slightly panicked waitresses. When we found her, she told us to sit ‘anywhere’. Again - a warning sign of what was to come. The menu was short and £45 for three courses. One of the 4 main course options was ‘burger and chips’, which just seemed weird given the way in which the venue is positioned on its web-site and perhaps we should have just walked out when we saw the room and menu. Everything was signalling that this was going to be a very bad experience. We didn’t expect ‘haute cuisine’ but at that price point, we expected good food, well prepared and professionally served. We got none of this. The wine list was laughably expensive, but we chose a cheaper bottle (which they didn’t have). The substitute came and we had to stifle giggles as the poor waitress (surely untrained) managed to dribble it over us/the table on 4 out of 4 pours. The food was average to dreadful. I think the burger van in Corsham town centre would have done a better job with the burgers when they arrived, which looked grey and unappetising. The mashed potato that came with my belly pork was solid, tepid and can’t have been fresh. I could go on but, in short, none of the food was enjoyable. The young waitresses were kind and friendly but totally out of their depth, particularly as the room eventually filled up. There was a whiff of panic in the air and by this stage all we wanted to do was ‘get out’. I have ‘some’ sympathy,as it must have been so hard for a venue like this to ride out the pandemic. But that is behind us now and there is simply no excuse for the amateur circus that we experienced. Sadly, my advice would be to avoid at all costs. Whoever owns/runs Guyers House should be ashamed.

Had dinner here on our first night whilst staying for 3 nights at The Guyers House. Absolutely no ambience! We whispered to each other, so everyone wouldn’t have to hear our conversation. Poor guy on his own trying to silently eat his burger. It was painfully silent in there! Extremely overpriced for very limited menu. Risotto over cooked and tasted like water, small serving. Wine extremely overpriced as well. On day two we tried to book in for dinner. Reluctantly returning, as we were part of a family wedding group staying at the Guyers House. We needed to join our family ( already booked at 6pm for 9 people, ahead of leaving on a bus to get to a pre wedding cocktail party) Reception would not allow us to book for dinner at 6pm for 3 people to join our family. Apparently the kitchen does not allow more than 9 people at the one time. Told we could come at 6.30, I explained that would be too late as we had to leave for a function and we were in house guests with a child to feed. Still, she wouldn’t do anything for us. I went to the bar and asked if they serve bar food. I was told yes. Ok great I said, can we come back at 6pm? She went to check… then came back with the same answer, no. The chef can only cook for 9 people at 6pm and he has a booking in the restaurant. We picked up pizzas at the local Domino’s pizza to feed ourselves, and we enjoyed them far better than the bland food served on the previous night at The Guyers!!! Breakfast again a very basic and poorly stocked buffet breakfast. I had to go and find a waitress to serve us! Nobody offering coffee. Be warned to check your bill. This place adds service charge for every item! Laughable as “service” at this hotel is not on the menu! I have also written a review for The Guyers Hotel.

Made to feel very welcome on arrival. Tastefully decorated, perhaps a little tired looking but nice and clean. Sufficient selection of starters, mains and desserts on the menu. We all ordered the roast chicken, and we all agreed it was very nice and a good sized portion. Dessert was great, chocolate truffle with salted caramel ice cream, very tasty. Retired to the lounge after dinner and sat in front of the log burning fireplace with a drink. A very nice night out, we shall return.

We booked last minute for a Sunday lunch. It was very quiet, but the service and food were outstanding. They have a special for Sunday lunch either 2 or 3 courses but there was no way we could have eaten dessert even had we not had a starter. To start I had tomato soup with a warm bread role, OH has ham hock terrine, both were delicious. Belly pork for main, generous serving of meat, lovely crisp crackling, served with roast potatoes, veg and Yorkshire pudding. The gravy was delicious and when I asked for extra gravy it was brought in a small jug. Can't understand why it was so quiet.

We stayed at the hotel for a weekend brake . Paying extra we included two evening meals . £35 per person per night for two courses . The portions were measly and the food was bland , the wine was horrendously expensive as were any additions . For this reason we tried to not to eat at Guyers House the second evening but were unable to as the weekend package had already been paid for .

I was part of a booking for a work Christmas Dinner that I had arranged and sadly everyone was disappointed. Firstly, when we arrived we asked if we could wait at the bar, this was absolutely fine but almost every drink on their “Festive Cocktail menu” was either unavailable or the hostess would just state she didn’t know how to make them. Secondly, we sat at our table to have our starters, three of us had the crispy poached egg with asparagus. Only two of the poached eggs were runny (mine wasn’t), and the asparagus was very cold like it had just come out the fridge. With the mains there were numerous additional issues. The turkey was incredibly dry, the carrots were rock hard and the gravy tasted like Bisto (rather than proper gravy made from meat juices/wine etc). Only one person was given pigs in blankets with their meal as they had ordered an extra portion of them, yet those that didn’t were told that their Christmas dinner didn’t come with any (despite the fact that the original menu sent to me listed “pigs in blankets” as part of the roast – see attached). It seems they have since updated their website with a new menu and that is what caused a lot of confusion with staff, however I was sent this one to order from and specifically kept in contact to prevent a situation like this. Then I had food spilt all down my back and in my hair which was not the waitress’s fault, accidents do happen, but it did add insult to injury to an already frustrating meal. However, she was very apologetic and did offer me a free drink of my choice to compensate. Even more frustratingly, when the desserts came out there was so much confusion. The young man handed peoples plates saying they were brownies, yet if you see the menu we were given, there were no brownies, and they couldn’t tell me what it was he was giving us. I was then given a dessert that turned out to be my colleagues’ Christmas pudding but was told it was a sticky toffee pudding. The staff did not have a clue as to what they were giving us and stood around trying to guess. In the end, I had to literally deduce what was what based on the amount of desserts handed out and then tell them which desserts belonged to who. By this point I was completely fed up. The restaurant was absolutely empty except for us so there genuinely is no reason for such chaotic service so I would hate to see the standard of service when its busy. The cheesecake was not a cheesecake, it had a sponge base rather than a biscuit base (and the portion size was tiny), the sticky toffee pudding looked and had the same texture of a brownie, and the “fondant” was not a fondant at all and was not runny inside. The only positives were that there was not a big wait in between courses, the location was very beautiful and the service/ communication received prior to the booking (the two ladies at the reception) was very good. The lady at the end was quite efficient with allocating everyone a bill which did make paying easier too. However at £30-£35 per person (plus a 10% service charge automatically applied), I would without a doubt expect better service and better quality of food.

Christmas lunch for four. We were the only lunch guests apart from a party of c.25 in an adjoining room. 3 of us had starters which were ok, apart from the "crispy poached egg" which was a rubbery scotch egg without the meat. 3 had turkey which was very thickly sliced and rather tough, with no pigs in blankets. They had sold out of Christmas pudding (!) and sticky toffee pudding. So one had cheese and biscuits, a good selection including varied crackers, chutney, grapes and celery - this was the highlight of the entire meal. The other 3 had banoffee cheesecake and caramel ice-cream. The cheesecake had a curious texture like panna cotta made with too much gelatin, and was tasteless and grey. To add insult to injury, instead of being served on a crumb or pastry base, it was on sponge, resulting in a soggy top and soggy bottom. Thankfully it was a very small slice! Even so most was uneaten apart from the small scoop of ice cream which was delicious. We have eaten here a number of times and enjoyed well cooked, good value meals. On this occasion we were disappointed with the food and felt it was expensive at £35 for 3 courses, plus 10% service charge. My wife bumped into some of the ladies from the other group and they were expressing the same concerns as us. Guyer's House has gone down in the quality of its food and up in price, and neither we or they are likely to visit again

We dropped by for Sunday Lunch. On arrival we were met by a young lad and given two Christmas menus even though we had booked for Sunday roast. Two courses £30 or 3 for £35. So rather more expensive than expected- oh well let’s hope for the best ! We plumped for the roast Turkey (2 slices) which came with veg of carrots, broccoli and two sprouts. No cranberry sauce at all and we had to chase for water, salt & pepper and cutlery. The meal was ok but portion sizes are modest. We opted for a sweet of banoffe which came with one minuscule scoop of ice cream. Tasty but definitely not a portion for those with a hearty appetite. When the bill arrived a 10% discretionary service charge was applied. Considering they use almost all teenagers who are very inexperienced I don’t think it’s on.

We had a wonderful stay for one night here. The hotel is a beautiful old country house surrounded by stunning gardens to explore. The staff are very welcoming and very helpful. The bedroom was so peaceful overlooking the kitchen garden. We arrived in the afternoon and enjoyed a light lunch and drinks in the courtyard, very nice relaxing. In the evening the dinner was excellent and so was the breakfast. I would love to return when passing again. An ideal place to explore the Cotswolds!

We booked through the online process and the communication was efficient. On arrival there were signs advising that a ceremony was taking place, but this didn’t affect the restaurant. We received a warm welcome and were taken to the overly lit restaurant, where the tables were duly spaced out. The bright lights and spacing make this an atmosphere less place, even when every table was full. The staff have chosen to wear masks, which is also not good for relaxed evening. The service is extraordinarily quick, we sat down, ordered our drinks, then our food - 2 courses each and were in and out in an hour. Why do they feel they need to serve you so quickly, we were out for the evening not a fast food experience! The food was fine, but can’t recommend this place, unless you want a rapid, brightly lit meal.

Set in a country house this hotel has a good restuarant open to the public. In these COVID-19 times the dining room is well spaced out and the high ceilings also give a feeling of space. Waiters wore mask, were pleasant & efficient and although we couldn't see I think were smiling. Good choice of starters, which were as starters should be, appetising and a sensible size. Day we visited there was minute steak, with french fries & mushrooms, which was delicious, plus there were salmon fishcakes that I am told were great. Panacotta for dessert was very good. With our eat out offer the meal was a great price. Whilst a bit further than we usually travel for a meal we hope to visit again quite soon.

I went to Guyers house with my fiancée for an afternoon lunch and also to see what the grounds were like, because we were looking for a wedding party venue. I mentioned this on our arrival. We were seated, I asked the waiter for some table water this request got ignored, we were not even given a drinks menu when we were seated.I had to remind the waiter about the water and also ask for a drinks menu. We ordered the lamb, eventually our drinks came. The lamb arrived cold, it was mostly fat and came with hardly any veg. Furthermore my lamb actually had a big piece of clean-film in it. I told the waiter about this, although he apologise and take the clean-film away he did not offer to replace the meal or offer any compensation. When the bill came he charged the full amount. I told the manager about the clean-film I found in my meal, they asked me “where is it”? It was only then the waiter told them about it. They did deduct the cost of my meal from the bill.We did have a look around the grounds and got shown the coach house room, the room looked tired and there didn’t seem to be much space. I was also trying to discuss prices via e-mail, when I asked them to list and price all the services they provide for weddings they were unable to tell me and failed to answer several direct questions. Based on the poor experience I had with the meal and poor experience with the events organiser we decided we would not go back or book them. which is a massive shame because it’s such a local venue to us. We really wanted it to be good, it sadly it was a massive disappointment.

Came here with a voucher for reduced price meal & found what I will call a country hotel of faded gentility. Everything was fine & the staff pleasant if not a little clueless as our server didn’t know what was in the dishes we were interested in having. Using a voucher you expect a limited menu (or additional charges for the more expensive dishes) and Guyer’s is no exception. However the choices were sufficient to be able to pick something we both fancied. We started with halloumi and then had salmon and chicken for the main course. Portion size was significant. However the potatoes I ordered as a side dish proved unnecessary as there was a very tasty layered ‘cake’ of potatoes included with the chicken but the charge for these was waved. For dessert I tried and enjoyed their Eton Mess. The number of stars awarded for this review is due to the lack of ambience in the room where we ate. There was only one other table in use and we appeared to be in an anteroom as what I assumed to be the main restaurant had a party of ladies in it.

We went on a Monday lunchtime - just a shame it wasn’t busier. The service is polite and friendly. The only reason I haven’t given 5* is due to some parts of the house are tired-looking and need some TLC (scuffed paint, dirty carpet in places etc). I know it’s difficult to keep maintenance standards high all the time but it’s been a while, I think, since some work has been done.Overall, a great place to eat - and if it’s fine, make sure you enjoy the gardens, which are extensive and pretty.

Had 2 course Sunday lunch which was excellent. The panna cotta I ordered to end the meal had the perfect ‘wobble’ and was delicious. Will definitely be returning.

My wife and I went for lunch on a Travelzoo voucher – two courses and tea/coffee for £29. The building is lovely, but the dining room was cold and had the atmosphere of a crematorium. We were shown to our table by a member of the Reception staff, but left for over ten minutes before a man who I now know to be Paul, the restaurant manager, came with the menus. During this time we were alone in the dining room. Other members of staff came and went without coming over to ask if we might like a pre-meal drink.

What a gem this place is. The setting is just beautiful and it has a very relaxed feel to the place. We had a super lunch here, limited lunchtime menu but we all found somehting we liked. The service was good, particularly from the more mature waitress. The younger waitress lacked a little finesse and we definitely got her impression she didn’t want to be there on such a hot day! We couldn’t fault the food at all, the only comment would be the Hazelnut Brownie pudding should have been served with Cherry Sorbet but instead it came with vanilla ice cream....not a major problem but an explanation would of been nice. All in all a lovely meal in beautiful surroundings so we will most definitely be back. Well done the team at Guyers House Hotel.

Did not have my lunch booking on arrival but very accommodating and asked if we would like to eat in the courtyard as a very hot day. Unfortunately you were covered in dust from the car park which was not pleasant. We then found they had tables and chairs on the terrace at the front of the hotel facing the pond which was a lovely view which I cannot understand why you were sat with a view of the carpark and the tables were on dusty grave.

This is a lovely old place and has the potential to be something really special, but sadly does not deliver in any way on its 4-star rating and to be honest don't know how they have this rating. For the room rate of £219 I would have expected better than what we had with a tired and very dated room that urgently needed a makeover and not impressed to find a dead fly on our bed and on the floor and don't think the skirting boards had ever been cleaned properly & not impressed with a bath that had been painted and the paint was coming off and going into the bath. Staff are pleasant but sadly lacking in numbers and this shows in the service that was offered throughout our stay, and as they had a wedding going on it was obvious they where not coping and not impressed that the only dinner slot available would be 8;30pm and I have a feeling this was because they could not cope with hotel guests and serving the wedding. Food was ok but have had better I would expect haddock in a haddock fish cake and not salmon which it obviously was. Service was so slow and not great having a very expensive bottle of lukewarm and not sure why they feel focaccia bread with butter is a good idea. Not luxury in any way and certainly not worth the room rate they are asking for, if you want luxury and pampering this is definitely not the place and would avoid at all costs, think you can better in the area for less and the owners of this hotel should hang their heads or shame or step up and make this hotel the place it deserves to be

It seems at first glance to be a bit pricey, but having enjoyed two nights here and eating in the restaurant, it was worth it. I went with friends on a Travelzoo deal for a two-course lunch. The risotto and duck were really good and my wife's poached pear dessert (which I 'helped' her with) was good too. This is very good food extremely well presented, without hitting the Michelin-star heights or complexities. Good bread (it matters) and coffee too. It was a slight down that we were in the Brasserie not the restaurant but the overall setting is great. This was our second visit and there will be a third! And if the proprietors ever want rid of the elephant, we could offer a good home!

Stayed for two nights, with friends, in mid-March. Hotel and rooms were very nice and the staff excellent. However, the food on both evenings was disappointing. It was disappointing for a venue that describes itself as "award winning restaurant with 2 AA rosettes" to serve food that was warm but not hot, overdone steaks and fish with soggy batter. The complaints were dealt with adequately but it still took the shine off, what was, in other respects, a very nice stay.

We made a return visit taking advantage of a special offer. Since our last visit the restaurant has moved, very pleasant decor. The menu offered an excellent selection of dishes. The smoked salmon starter I had was sublime, and the duck main course didn't disappoint. The apple crumble was fantastic, if we hadn't seen one being delivered to the next table we would probably have stuck to the two courses provided as part of the deal. We will be returning.

My starter of Soused Mackerel was divine, the Smoked Duck was very tough and not enjoyed and the brulee dessert was so deconstructed it was difficult to see exactly what it was meant to be - no caramelised anything, just lots of herby-tasting crumbly stuff and something indescribable in the glass. It was a good experience overall as I now know what I will never have again. Waiting staff were brilliant and were genuinely helpful and sincerely polite but the nail sticking out of the reception front door drew blood and we were asked 'but didn't you use the door handle to open it?' by reception - yes we did but as it's so heavy a hand was required to push it and it was actually forehead height - we dread to think what might happen and it wasn't removed or dealt with in any way during our stay. An accident waiting to happen..... 10% is automatically added to your bill in case you are thinking of tipping.

We were using a "Trip advisor" voucher for a set two course meal with a glass of Prosecco. The hotel looks lovely and we will go back to see it in summer. However, we wnet for Sunday lunch in February and we ate in the Brasserie. We guessed all might not be well when the couple next to us were decidedly "frosty" when asked how their meal was. The male had already sent his roast beef back as it was undercooked. We took the hint and asked for 2 of the 3 beefs ordered to be "medium". However it was still pretty rare. The actual room was cold (an external door opens directly in) but we stuck with it. The service was well-meaning - but when we ordered two "Apple Crumbles" for dessert and were brought two sticky toffee puddings I thought I might have a quiet word. No need - the marvellously chirpy young waiter appeared from nowhere to say " Coh ... how could they mistake my writing of your order so badly". Priceless! We will return in warmer times - the quip was worthy of that.

We thoroughly enjoyed a leisurely lunch at this lovely country hotel near Corsham. We received a lovely welcome and attentive service throughout. The chef is clearly talented and the menu included classic dishes such as duck confit and risotto. Our meals were delicious and the surroundings warm and comfortable. The public rooms are inviting. The restaurant set with starched white tablecloths and beautiful antiques. After our meal we took coffee in the lounge with its real fire and squashy settees. Corsham with its many historic buildings was a short drive away and completed our day out.

We joined our friends for dinner ahead of a wedding at the hotel and sadly it is not an experience I would care to repeat. If you read only this far, I can sum the dinner up as: chef over reached his abilities. The amuse buche was under cooked pastry with a tiny, tasteless filling. My starter of salmon and crayfish was laughingly small - as reviews by previous diners, 2 tiny slithers of salmon with nasty crayfish (probably from a tub ex supermarket). I could barely get 2 bites for £9.50!!!! Then onto the main course, Seafood bouillabaisse - a sad reflection of a attempt at a classic. Why a cream sauce and chives? My potatoes (advertised as saffron containing) were raw, and tasted or nothing (not even potato). The fish (tiny piece of salmon, 3 muscles and a few prawns) were all over cooked. And the 'sauce' - vapid, water and flavourless. No rich stock, no aioli, no croutons with grated cheese. Poor. Desert faired better but too late to redeem themselves. Hoping the wedding is better.
