The best restaurants serving British food in Wiltshire South West

We have been dining at the restaurant for years and it has been our go to special occasion place. We recently went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were really underwhelmed by the menu and the quality of the food. We are vegetarian and there is always a few veggie / vegan menu options, which is always welcome. The starters were delicious and there were a good range of veggie/vegan choices. There were 2 main course options - pasta or a veggie burger. We ordered one of each so we could compare and contrast. The burger was £20 and was absolutely nothing special. It was a commercially made burger in a commercially made bun. It was served with 1 lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato and it looked very sad. I have had way better at Smash Burger. The pasta was ok. Dessert was also grim. The Paris Brest, was dry, solid and tasteless and the knickerbocker glory was a mishmash of cheap tasting strawberry ice cream, fruit and smashed meringue - which seemed to have come out of a packet.

It’s rare I have a roast dinner when I’m out for Sunday lunch. Too often they disappoint and I’m left wondering what makes my mums or wife’s so much better. No here though. I’ve been twice, and between us my wife and I have tried four different meats. All have been full of flavour, tender and generously portioned. Great spuds, massive yorkshires and rich, tasty gravy too. Proper comfort food, I’d challenge anyone to leave unsatiated. The pub itself is cosy and unpretentious and run very efficiently by a polite, friendly and welcoming team of staff. Having ticked off the beef, pork belly, chicken and venison we’ll be back soon to get the lamb and nut roast and collect the set!

Quick and friendly service. The upstairs dining room looked nice, we sat in a booth near the window. We had a potato and leak soup, thick fries and grilled peppered chicken. All very tasty.

It is a long time since I have been here, my last visit was not good but, wow what a difference. Lovely staff, excellent food, left feeling I will be back. Thank you.

Your staff were amazing even though they are short of 4 staff ,especially Ed who went above and beyond for all the customers

Love this pub it has a lovely feel to it. The staff are really friendly and the food is excellent. There is good choice on the menu if you have dietary requirements. I come regularly for the Sunday carvery which is always a winner for me and my family and bonus is they have the option to take it away.

The best homemade gastro pub food! The food tasted very fresh and healthy. The best gravy I have ever tasted. Will come back for more chicken and leek pie!

We had our Mother’s Day at The Swan today and it was amazing . Service was great and the food was delicious. The children’s food came out first which I personally really like so they are settled for the adults to enjoy their meals . Compliments to the Chef Darren .. The Food was delicious, we had the roast beef , it was cooked to perfection. My pudding .. well I had to leave room for that it was White Chocolate & Raspberry Cheesecake & Ice Cream What a perfect Mother’s Day ! Thoroughly enjoyed by all especially our Teen and our 5 year old granddaughter ✨

Unlike previous reviewers I found the staff helpful and patient while answering my (many, many) questions about the pastries sold. Visited on two separate occasions and had excellent bread and pastries both times. Bread rolls and bread itself were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Scotch pie was filled with well seasoned meat. Lacock lardy was outstanding - sweet, sticky, multilayered and full of sultanas.

Very cold and unwelcoming reception from young girl at the bar. The other lady quite friendly. Didn't know if they did food. Mostly a mans pub vibe.

Stayed at The Woodfalls Inn whilst visiting family. Having booked in with the staff we were shown our room which was fantastic. Spotless, plenty of space for a family of five. Super comfortable beds and such a lovely lounge area. And it doesn't stop there, booked a table for the evening meal and we all had fantastic food. We had another meal the following day before we left for home and i chose the pan fried sea bass. I have never tasted something so nice before. Top marks for the chef. We will definitely be staying here again. We'll done to all at The Woodfalls Inn

Nice enough room but no one turned up for breakfast. Waited for an hour in empty pub, gave up and left.

Nice place but the landlord appears grumpy. I'm assured that he isnt, or at least that's just his everyday demeanour, and he's actually very appreciative of everyone's custom.

Very nice pub with friendly staff. The food was also very nice! Will be back again soon :)
