Excelente servicio y gente encantadora

I would like to flag up and bring to your attention an experience I had as a wheelchair user visiting this pub. On the night in question New Years Eve I had brought 3 x tickets costing £10 each for myself and two carers after having such a good and welcoming positive experience on New Year 2016 I was keen to go back this year as this is one of the few accessible venues that I can easily gain access in Salisbury. I was forward planning and checked with my carers in November that the pub would be having an event on New years eve. The tickets were not available then so myself and a carer went back at the beginning of December to pay for the tickets. My carer double checked with the landlord at the time that there would be a wheelchair user coming and its the same gentleman as last year as he had such a great time. All well and good my plans fell into place, when we arrived at the venue for New Years at 20.30pm we found a space to sit and then only to find that the disabled toilet door was blocked off by the bands sound engineer with a table and chair in front. When one of my carers went to speak to management all he said was that he was unaware of a disabled person coming along to the event and that he could not move the person in question and the sound equipment. When my carer questioned what we were supposed to do when the time came to use the toilet she was fobbed off with 'oh we will have to cross that bridge when it comes to it' he explained that he could block off the mens toilet when needed but my carer explained my wheelchair would be too big to be able to get through the doorway and it would not be possible. Unfortunately I had to resort in finding another alternative to using the toilet which meant I missed out on watching the band and enjoying what should have been a great night but unfortunately nothing was resolved to any satisfactory manner. The manager said he would get something sorted for us otherwise we could have our money back but he failed to do so and did not approach us at all again during the course of the evening. When my carer explained all of the above to me and my other carer the sound guy in question said to us that he would be happy to move but he was told to set up there and also because the toilet is full of tables and chairs to make room for the band so we wouldn't of been able to use the disabled toilet in any circumstances anyway. This ended up being a frivolous New Years Eve and put a really bad sour taste in my mouth and my carers/family. This is such a shame and I will not be returning in any hurry again. I will not be recommending this establishment for anyone who has any form of physical disability in any shape or form which pains me to say from the experience I have had this year. I will be attempting to go elsewhere in future.

Mmm. Sin duda volveremos pronto.

What a terrible place. More interested in the slot machines than serving the customers, food was obviously microwaved or reheated , beer not good. You would think people would appreciate trade but this isn't the case here , such a shame as the views of old Sarum are amazing. Very disappointed.

We have just spent an amazing New Years Eve night at the Oak. The live band were outstanding (the Cellar Rats) the warm friendly atmosphere was ideal for the perfect night. I can't speak about the food, but the beer was great. They made a brilliant effort with all the Christmas lights, by far the best lit up place in Salisbury. The location is spot on, and the views to Old Sarum are very impressive. The Royal Oak might not be perfect, but it is worthy of a visit with an open mind, this type of pub struggles to survive so I take my hat to them for keeping the local alive.

While visiting England from Canada, we stipped in after a morning at Stonehenge. We ordered fish & chips, scampi & chips, lasagne, macaroni & cheese and bangers & mash. Pretty basic. Well...The fish was a frozed (and deep fried) piece. The scanpi was clearly from a frozen bag, bangers seemed like they had bread filling in them, lasagne was reheated from frozen, as was the macaroni & cheese. The place had the words "home cooked" in a lot of places, but failed to mention the heavily-used microwave. On top of this, it took 20 minutes to get our food. I guess there's only 1 microwave in the kitchen.

We stopped in here for lunch on our way to the train station. The place looks nice and has great views but the food is not very good at all. The sign out front reads "homemade" but other than a portion of mashed potatoes, nothing that our table of 5 ordered had been freshly made. Frozen and reheated lasagna, scampi even the fish and chips. My sausages were so over microwaved you couldn't cut them with a knife. The insides were absolute mush. The staff member was friendly but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

After following a recommendation we decided to go here for a Sunday lunch. The good was reheated and not freshly cooked. The macaroni cheese was tinned, with a grating of cheese over the top, that failed to melt as the dish was cold. The roast potatoes were so burnt they failed to have any potato inside them! I mentioned both to the waitress and she apologised and after clearing 5 full plates away, still charged us in full for all of the meals. We will not be returning and would recommend others to stay away! Paid in cash with no receipt given....

After visiting Stonehenge we were looking for a place serving local food. We found this place directly on the road driving south to Salisbury. As it was Sunday we tried "Sunday Roast", which is a pork roast with vegetables and brown gravy. It tasted very good. We finished it with apple pie and "syrup sponge", which besides it was drowned in custard was good too.Restaurant has just few tables and the second part (in another room) is a pub. So the service is "pub like".Anyway, we got what we came for and everybody was happy :-)
