Swan Inn in Wiltshire

We thought we would try the pub out for lunch. The menu was okay but lacked choice. The food we did chose was fine. The ploughman's, the simplest pub grub, did not have all of the items stated on the menu, but it was okay. The fish finger sandwich was nice, but the pub was colder than it was outside and despite being one of only two tables eating the manager did not even bother with any pleasantries and told her colleague to "deal with them" The lack of a warm greeting or warm atmosphere, made our mind up not to come back.

We had a handsome pint of chilled Estrella in the warm sunshine at this very pretty thatch inn. There was plenty of seating inside and out but we chose to sit at the front of the pub alongside the quite line which runs through the village.

Used to be our favourite place to get together for great food but sadly, due to new management after a brief closure, the food isn’t great. Pie, chips and 2 pieces of tender stem broccoli for £18. The pie was great, the broccoli although cooked perfectly was barely warm and the chips were cool and partly cooked. My friends had an insipid looking chicken curry which was a basic veg curry with chicken thrown in. Apple and pear crumble although tasty, the topping was like cookie dough rather than crumble.i had the chocolate brownie which was ok but would have been better served warm. Avoid until they get a proper chef!

We came to the swan Friday night for their Christmas menu and it did not disappoint! The staff were very attentive so welcoming and the food was absolutely perfection! Chefs kiss!

Needed some lunch after a sky dive at Netheravon. Looked on Tripadvisor and found this lovely country pub nearby . Had a lovely lunch in the sunny garden . Tracey behind the bar was very friendly and made us feel really welcome . Food was good and plenty of it !Would definitely return if we are down that was again

At last a real old genuine village pub with very good actual home cooked food, very friendly staff, and good beer . Enford is the base for the reintroduction of the Great Bustard programme on Salisbury Plain.

The Swan Inn is a quality pub restaurant located in a beautiful countryside village. The staff are cheerful, and welcoming and the atmosphere is just what you would expect in a nice country pub. The choice of food was absolutely fantastic, the quality of the ingredients excellent and everything attractively cooked and presented to our needs. There was a lovely atmosphere too, some welcoming banter with the friendly staff, we even met the chef to give our thanks. The restaurant was very busy and once we received our meals it was understandable why. We recommend the place for people exploring Stonehenge a prehistoric monument on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire.

Absolute gem in this picturesque village. Staff warm and welcoming, and attentive throughout (in the right measure). Food was absolutely superb, quality of ingredients evident and everything cooked and presented appealingly. There was a lovely atmosphere too, and some welcome banter with the friendly staff, we even got to meet the chef to pass on our thanks. Local pubs like this are sadly dwindling, so make sure you support it by visiting soon!

We arrived in the UK Sunday morning at Southampton following a crossing of the Atlantic and headed to a relaxing lunch at The Swan. Located well off the beaten track, it was well worth the trip. We arrived early for our booking but we’re warmly greeted and enjoyed a couple of drinks at the bar, before our table was available. The place was super busy and once we received our meals, it was understandable why. Honest, well cooked food, in generous proportion.

We had a lovely meal here. Three of us had the roast and the fourth had ham, egg and chips. They were all excellent. Lovely, tasty and freshly cooked food. We all had pudding and couldn't fault that either. The price was good as well. The staff were friendly, and service was quick. We will definately be returning.

We were a lunch group of 12. Chose food in advance, very prompt and friendly service, excellent organisation and good pub food, would recommend highly.

I have been to The Swan twice this weekend for meals with my family to celebrate my birthday. Both meals were exceptional. Saturday night I had the beef and ale pie which was crammed full of more beef than I've ever seen in a pie before, absolutely delicious. The chips were also cooked perfectly, as was the veg. The sticky toffee pudding is a personal favourite which I also thoroughly enjoyed. Service was excellent, our waitress Lauren was attentive, making sure everything was to our liking without being intrusive. We went back for Sunday lunch today, and it truely surpassed my expectations. They had Roast venison on the menu which is another personal favourite...it was cooked to absolute perfection and I would go as far to say that it was one of the best venison meals I have ever eaten. I barely had to chew it, the gravy complimented it perfectly and the roast potatoes and vegetables were also cooked perfectly. This was followed by Baked Alaska which was also exceptional, and executed perfectly. Regrettably I didn't take a picture of the venison with the gravy and veg, but even so, you can see how beautifully cooked it is and how much there was of it! I cannot rate this pub highly enough, aside from the food it is a beautiful English country pub with a log fire and all of the classic wooden beams. The staff were very attentive and professional, while being friendly and chatty. I cannot wait to go back for my next meal in a couple of weeks time

I was really sad leaving the swan after booking for a Sunday lunch, we tried to order starters and out of the 4 options available there none left at 2pm so skipped this part of the meal. we didn’t eat for over an hour after ordering and when the food was delivered we were given the wrong meals.. my guests accepted knowing they would be waiting a long time for a replacement. We then looked to order desserts and were told again that many options were unavailable. The two waitresses serving us were just a little inexperienced but caused confusion as one said meals and options were available that were not. I do feel the service and meal was really disappointing especially after looking on trip advisor and travelling from Surrey to entertain at a ‘traditional English pub’ when paying I felt really pressured to select a tip option on the iPad presented to me whilst 4 staff looked at me from behind the bar. The positives were that it had a gorgeous and cosy feel and some of the food was great but i and others in my party didn’t have a great time and I felt super disappointed so would not recommend and won’t be returning in future.

Lovely country pub with a thatached roof, low ceilings and an open fire, what's not to love. We arrived too late for food so at this time we cannot review the food. However, the aroma from the kitchen was a delight. I enjoyed my drink and my husband enjoyed the beer flight. The village, the pub and the welcome we received was wonderful. They also allow dogs in and they have a gluten free menu. Oh they also support local business with their choices in produce and of course the beer! We will return and I will update my review.

Excellent rare roast beef with all the trimmings. My mum had the salmon goujons which were tasty and plentiful. Generous portions and friendly service. We will return. Well done!

Many congratulations to the chef/owner & wonderful staff on providing us with a perfect meal & evening in a truly exquisite pub. I had the chicken & mushroom pie, my partner had chicken & both were cooked to a superb standard, not mean portions & an absolute delight as were the accompanying beers. Fabulous. Walked in after a day visiting local landmarks and were offered a good table even though it was obviously very busy. Staff were truly lovely and helpful throughout and the food was great. Great atmosphere and would recommend to anyone in the area. The offer of a milk free sundae ( without being asked for) made my child’s evening. Thank you guys!

We booked a table for 5 over a week ago with the publican but tonight when we arrived we were told they were full and didn’t have a record of our reservation. Very poor customer service. When I made the call to make the reservation my family overhead so we didn’t make a mistake. No attempt was made to accommodate us. We won’t be going back.

With a one way system,, hand sanitiser before entry and table service this was a very safe pub to visit.We enjoyed the food, I had a steak special which was very good indeed. We happened to be there on a quiz night which was great value at just £1 each to join in.. No we did not win :( but this pub is presently part of the government "eat out" scheme and so the bill was reduced.Highly recommend supporting this brilliant asset, keep our pubs and restaurants alive in these troubling times.

Lovely last minute and spontaneous stop by. Felt thoroughly welcomed by the lovely staff. Great knowledge of the menu, friendly and comfortable environment, lovely garden, brilliant value food wise. Staff were always available to help, definite recommend and would visit again.

The Swan was the first pub we have visited after lockdown. It did not disappoint. We felt very safe with all the thoughtful measures that have put into place. The staff made us feel very at ease. We visited with people in our bubble and enjoyed a fabulous meal. The food portions were amazing, some of us ordered the Lockdown Favourite and we weren't disappointed, however the Digger Burger looked fantastic! Highly recommend, at the moment with the Eat Out Scheme, it would be silly not to give this lovely village pub a try.

I drove past this little pub a lot and always want to call in. So a group of us met for lunch. A reduced menu but still lovely and covers most bases! I had a lovely salmon and lemon mayo salad. It had lots of mayo and salmon and was delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will be back for evening meal!

The Swan has done such a superb job of maintaining its lovely village atmosphere and being uber safe. Sitting in the sunny garden with table service is divine. The sticky toffee sundae also dreamy, and the beer as good as ever.

I first went to the Swan back in the summer of 2017 while I was on vacation visiting friends. Once I moved to the area from Canada it was one of the first places I went to. I generally visit once a week for a meal or drinks (Lockdown excepted). The food is excellent and the staff are always friendly. While the place is less bustling under covid measures they have done a superb job under difficult circumstances getting it open for business again. I will miss it being my local once I move this summer, but will be back as often as I can to say hi to Pete, Emma, and the rest.

Decided to try this after reading mixed trip advisor reviews and thought I'd see for myself. Food ok, however staff not quite. The responses to the feedback on here with constructive criticism sums the staff up. Rude and unhelpful. Go to Wetherspoons.

We have recently moved to the area and had heard good things about the swan so we thought we’d give it a visit. Boy are we glad we did! All four of us thoroughly enjoyed everything about the meal. The ambiance of the pub is just perfect, friendly staff, roaring log fire and a great menu. All four of us ordered something different, all the meals were good sized, reasonably priced and super tasty. We will certainly be back many more times!

We used google maps to find a pub where a group of friends could meet up, for a long walk and then a pub meal. We found the Swan, Enford and having looked at the reviews booked our table. This is a lovely country pub, and judging by the number of people who arrived for the evening menu service at 6pm it is very popular. The food was good, the “proper” pie is exactly that, and the other meals we had were at a good standard. The staff, friendly and welcoming, couldn’t do enough to help us, and table service was very good. Well done the staff at the swan.

This is one of our local pubs so we thought we’d give it a go after a recommendation from a friend; so glad we did. The pub is in the traditional country pub style and is warm and friendly inside whilst being quite spacious. The staff were very welcoming which was great. Car parking looked a bit limited so we parked on the roadside, we may have missed the actual carpark in the dark and not knowing the area. Credit / debit cards and cash are all accepted, the bar area is aesthetically pleasing on the eye. The menu is good with plenty of options, when the food came it was excellent quality. This is a lovely pub with great food, I don’t think you can go too wrong here based on our experience. We will certainly visit again.

Had lunch here today, first visit and there was an extremely welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and the pub was lovely and warm on a chilly day. It was also good value for money with an excellent choice of wine. We will definitely be back.

We rang and booked a table for 3 adults and 1 child for 2pm on Sunday. When we arrived we were told by the young girl there was a mix up and they had written down the wrong info, they had put 2 adults and a baby for 3pm. We were told there was people still at our table but they had just ordered desserts so if we didn’t mind waiting, We said that’s ok we will order some drinks. Not a great start and a little frustrating as there was a empty table with no one on it. After about 10 minutes of waiting one of the girls approached us and said they have decided to sit us in the corner where the empty table was (we excepted that table) However was so tight you had to squeeze past a table of 3 men and a big family table behind us (if you were of a larger size you would have had no chance of getting to that table) The place was too crowded, hot and loud. I was a little disappointed as first time visiting and was hoping would be a little less crowded as pictures online look really pretty and reviews seemed good. Food was quite expensive for the quantity you receive, However the food was lovely and of good quality. The young girl who served us seemed polite and nice although quite. Not sure if I would return, maybe if we were seated somewhere where it was less cramped and could open a window. I just felt stuffed in a corner and with the mix up and lack of parking not sure.

Went to the Swan for Sunday lunch today and what a great choice of venue it was.

Having moved into Salisbury, we can no longer claim The Swan as our local. So we went to make sure that it’s still a great pub and worth the car journey. YES! Lunch as good as ever, and now with some different beers to try. Plain Ales ‘Inspiration’ washed the splendid salmon goujons down a treat. We learned that next week the menu will have an overhaul so we shall be back before long to see what’s new. But no tampering with the old favourites, please!

Last time we came to the swan the food was brilliant. Regrettably this time we came for a Sunday lunch and sadly the slow cooked roast beef needed extra teeth to chew it, jaws ached afterwards. Suggest the slow cooker is checked. Apart from that it was lovely and I would still reccomend a visit.

we were unfortunate to end up in here for food. The food was cold when i complained the staff were very rude. Went to use the toilets there was no toilet paper the flush didnt work and it smelt vile. Avoid at all costs

It’s not often you find the perfect place to eat - lovely surroundings, brilliant and efficient service plus amazing food. The staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is just what you’d expect in a nice country pub.

After some googling to find a halfway spot between us in North Hampshire and my friends in Somerset we took a gamble on the Swan.

Lovely hidden gem . The sunday roast was excellent, the decor is quaint and subtly english, it was a awesome British pub experience. A little bit pricey but well worth it .

I haven't been to the Swan for years, probably a good 11 or so, mainly because I thought it was upmarket and pricy.

This is a hidden gem really good food, and a great range of real ales. They have a beer feast once a year great atmosphere.

My wife found this country pub on line when we were looking for somewhere to have a brunch but decided to eat later than expected to the pub being busy.

We've found our new local. Very friendly and welcoming. A pub to relax in and come back to. Village owned. Lovely landlord and landlady. Tasted every bitter before deciding and given mead and next week's bitter to try. I feel at home. And the food just the best.

We’ve eaten here several times to date, the last being my Birthday last Saturday.

We came here for dinner Saturday night, and the food we received was lovely. All homemade quality food. I had the rump steak with chips and veg, the steak was very tender. Everyone enjoyed there main. Dessert was also really good all homemade again. Lovely little country pub with great homemade food. Also allows dogs which is a plus...10/10.

Family meal out, all 10 of us. All meals were extremely well prepared and cooked. All came out together and piping hot with a couple having a very tasty starter and more than a few of us have a good pud.

We had lunched here before a few times and it was good, in fact very good. So when the suggestion came up to join friends here for supper, we were keen to say the least. A nice big table, not too close to other tables. No one ordered a starter but my chicken and chorizo with cheese, red peppers was superb, the flavours were right up my street. The chicken had been seared - BBQ style and that added another layer to the dish. My only other comment was the chorizo seemed to me to be more of a salami style of sausage but did not detract from the dish at all. Served with rice (or potatoes) it was most enjoyable and I struggled to squeeze in two bobbles of ice cream, clotted cream and salted caramel.

Visited the Swan this lunchtime with 5 family members because it’s location was central for all of us, and enjoyed good, plentiful pub food in a friendly welcoming atmosphere. We will certainly visit the Swan again - highly recommended!

Having looked at three other pubs for something to eat, we accidentally came across the Swan. In future, it won't be by accident; we have already booked to take some other friends there on Thursday!!!l

Lovely pub really friendly efficient staff busy with good atmosphere.Servce was A1 and the portions of well cooked food were large ,after a starter and main course we couldn’t manage a dessert.

If you come and watch my horse at Larkhill you can have lunch with lots of beer. Well beats being lured out on a Sunday shopping.

Called in on the off chance, what an amazing gem, absolutely spotlessly clean, very friendly staff. Felt very comfortable there. The menu was varied and all freshly cooked. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. This has got to be one of my top places to visit, will definitely be going back. Highly recommended.

As a fairly regular customer with family and friends, it’s safe to say this is without a doubt, the best pub I’ve been to in the UK. They’ve got the balance of everything just right, from decor, service, atmosphere and of course the menu! The service is always friendly even in the busiest evenings.... The food is always on the up and improves every time...

The food is fine, but they did struggle with serving a group. Why take the booking if you can't cope with the numbers?

Our fourth visit here in the past 4 months. Food has been really good on each occasion, piping hot, beautifully cooked, lots of choice. The pub is is comfortable, very atmospheric, open coal fire. Dogs on leads are welcome. Heartily recommend it. Try the mac and cheese - really special.
