The new owners had just moved inn so the place was a little chaotic but the staff were wonderful. It was also very festive.

This was a great wetherspoons, service was good and everything arrived quickly. The food was tasty. We would return... however, there are very irritating beeping noises coming from the kitchen that seem to be ignored by staff. Avoid sitting near it, it drove us a bit mad after a while :/

I come here very often and I’m so impressed with the food and service this past 6/7 months, place is definitely loved and extremely clean 🧼 the constant dog treats available is such a lovely touch. The Priory feels like stepping into a loved home 💙

This was a very underwhelming visit to the Slaughters Country Inn this time. This isn’t a cheap hotel and we expected more in the way of cleanliness, security and food quality and standard for the money paid. Firstly I had to wash the bathroom floor with wet wipes when we arrived it was covered in dust and other peoples hair and didn’t look like it had been cleaned in a few wks. We found a few wood lice in our room during the stay. The dust at the spine of our room door on the carpet was thick and needed the nozzle of the hoover. The corridors leading to the rooms were needing hoovered and the red chandelier at reception hadn’t been dusted in months. When we came back after a day out on the Tuesday our room had been left unlocked by the house keeping staff, just as I discovered it a member of house keeping came Along and I reported it, he said he would report it to his manager, however, no one came near us the rest of the night or the next morning before we left to check nothing had been taken, which luckily had not. We also ate in the restaurant the first night, the food was not well cooked and over priced. My fish only half filled the batter it was inside, fresh air in the other half of the batter, my husbands chicken was dry and we hated the service charge being added onto the bill automatically. We didn’t complain as the Scottish guy serving us was very friendly, cheery and helpful. We’ve visited the Slaughters Country Inn about 6 or 7 times now and absolutely adore the village setting and the gardens which I have to say haven’t looked better but we have decided to try an air b&b in the beautiful village of lower slaughter next time and go to the inn for a drink and make use of there gardens that way rather than staying or eating there again. Sorry Slaughters you let yourself down badly this visit.

Have visited the place several times whilst visiting Bude. On this occasion we were rather disappointed. We ordered x2 large chips - the portions were shocking was not enough for a family of 4. We also ordered x2 regular cod - these were rather small, didn’t seem fresh but tasted ok. For the price we paid for our meal (2 large sausage, 2 chips and fish with a curry sauce) coming to £35 we felt we didn’t get enough for our money So would probably try another chippy when visiting.

Really enjoyed the Cod and the batter, which were very tasty indeed. 10 out of 10. Sadly dissapointed with the chips which were overly firm; I suspect it was the variety of patato which seemed to be 'chewey' and pretty tasteless. Maybe they just don't flash well? And, sadly, the curry sauce was lacking in flavour and too wet (it made the paper so soggy it ripped - yes even the multiple layers. We have kept re-trying this place overall the last 9 years, as it has such a good reputation, but it never seems to get it completely right. I would still recommend it, but I suppose it's just a bit of a gamble. Sorry guys, you are friendly and efficient, your premises are neat and tidy; but I just don't think we are 'simpatico', as the Spanish would say.

Rude and aggressive member of staff who told us to move because we were in the wrong seats. We went into this pub first but they didn’t sell Sauvignon Blanc so purchased from next door. Loads of spare seats yet told to move.

My friend and I had a beautiful roast dinner. They were clearly busy but the staff kept us updated on waiting times but we didn't have to wait long. Staff also came and checked everything was OK during our meal. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Shame about the aggressive behaviour from another customer towards the staff. Unnecessary language towards the staff who handled this situation. I don't think I could've remained as professional as they did facing such abuse. Well done staff take no notice of the rotten apple. The other customers had no issues.

A long running rumour has it that The Quay is closing. Not very busy and no atmosphere this visit. Most of the real ale pumps were off. The Quay was our favourite Poole 'spoon and is in a great location. We hope it doesn't close.

I have been frequenting the bar since I moved close to the neighbourhood. While no thing can be perfect, the staff here is amazing! The tender named Yashi is the one i encounter the most behind bar and I love her. Great conversation, great service and great drinks. What more can I ask from a bar?

Went Sunday 6th April. Got a warm welcome by a man who I guess was the owner/manager. The food was excellent, good size portions at a good price. We finished our mains and waited 15 minutes to be asked if we wanted desserts which we did. After that we waited again 18 minutes to ask staff if we could pay our bill. On at least two occasions a lady in a blue dress stuck her head around a corner and looked into the lower dining area. After that long wait I made my way to the bar to find somebody to pay. I came across the afore mentioned lady again and, when I asked her if I could pay the bill she seemed somewhat flustered. She then told me we hadn't had our desserts which we had. She then directed me to the bar. When I got there there was a younger man making up a drinks order and walked up and down the bar, totally ignoring me not even saying he would be with me soon. The afore mentioned lady the got behind the bar and the two of them then got into a confused discussion about the drinks order, asking where the people were who ordered the drinks. Between them they seemed totally confused. Once again I was ignored. A lady with a dog was drinking at the bar and told them that the people had left earlier. I eventually paid the bar as quickly as possible. I have never had such appalling service anywhere like it. We will DEFFINETLY will not be returning.
