The best restaurants serving British food in South West

We were booked ( a very large family and friends group. Last year,We booked a variety of lodges, caravans and camping. This would have been for the last weekend of September 24. Today , we all got emails cancelling our bookings. Reason given : a Solitice event!!!! What appalling customer service. Offered vouchers for monies paid. Never will consider visiting a ParkDean resort .

Me and my family went in ther, since that bar opens so early (8am) it's filled with drunks that think they own the place because there locals. We were using the pool table and others in my family went to order drinks, we were memorising the order and said apple juice as that's something we would like, two people in each corner looked at each other and laughed and one said "that's hilarious". That's the first thing that made us all feel uncomfortable. second. The bartender asked us who would like to order next and my family said "me", he straight up ignored us and were guessing that she did that because we weren't locals. Everyone there was just straight up RUDE, all of us were absolutely pissed of and just left and went to the better pub "george and the dragons". WE WOULD ALL NOT RECOMMEND THE ROYAL BRITANNIA AS IT SEEMS NOT VERH ROYAL AT ALL!!!

Home cooked meal for a good price, liver n onions was amazing

Brilliant food homemade pies warm fire staff are fantastic choice of pies steak n Stilton. Steak and kidney. Steak and ale. Steak and mushroom. Chicken and leek chicken and mushroom .vegetable pie served with chips or mash fantastic pies

Having gone to another pub for lunch only to be told they weren’t doing food which was not advised on their website we ended up here in desperation for a bite to eat which was another mistake as they were only doing Pizzas, Baguettes or Sandwiches. The outside was incredibly untidy, with a full ashtray sitting on a bench waiting to greet customers on their arrival. The inside very depressing although one bar with the inglenook very characterful. As with many pubs loud ‘disco’ music was blazing out around the bar. The barmaid perhaps was having a bad day as no smile or chat was forthcoming. We chose 6 baguettes as the ‘kitchen’ was about to close which was our 2nd mistake. 4 fish fingers which were cremated or precooked & re fried, the cheese & chutney banquette had no chutney & the prawn banquet was awash with a very runny Marie Rose sauce. All banquets were very small & anaemic. They arrived with a small pot of coleslaw & some deep fried vegetable peelings all pretty & no presentation & bland. We should have sent them all back but didn’t. We also ordered 4 bowls of skinny fries which were ok but for £4 a small bowl were a rip off as everything else was when we got the bill…over £120 including some drinks! The only good experience was the Jail Ale which was fine. Don’t like putting bad reviews against businesses but there again we don’t like being ripped off with indifferent service, disgusting food & excessive prices. If a pub has no chef for what ever reason which presumably was the scenario here then close the kitchen!

It's okay, it's an oggy oggy, come on! I sometimes get a sausage roll from here or a pasty, TBF their pasties are alright.

For anyone planning on taking a trip out for a drink or meal - this pub has been closed since the third week of June and there is no info on re-opening.

They didn't want to give us a table for 8 and the entire restaurant was almost empty, there was just 4 persons inside the restaurant and we were very hungry. We went to ask if they had space for us and without hesitation he said no .
