Deceptively large roast dinner from the carvery. Great value - walked out stuffed+!

This was our second Sunday carvery at the Ebdon Arms and this time we brought family with us. Great choice of meat and veg for Sunday carvery which was very nice and tasty. Staff all very friendly. We would highly recommend The Ebdon Arms

Absolutely awful stood at the door waiting for someone to give a table for 10 mins with no service. 3 staff behind the bar chatting around one till didn't even look up all trying to sort one customer out massive queue. Looked absolutely messy from what I could see. And walked out. Avoid at all costs!

Sorry, I'm a bit late leaving my review... but I just wanted to say how terrible the service was one Saturday lunchtime in late September. There was only one member of staff front of house and she was incredibly rude and grumpy. She vacated the bar for very long periods of time when the pub was busy - it was actually quite bizarre seeing an unmanned bar for so long with a big queue of diners on the other side. We wondered whether she was cooking the food as well as serving drinks. There was a little dog tethered to the bar on a very long-leash the same colour as the carpet creating a big trip hazard. On a positive note, our food was good and we didn't wait too long for it, but we were early and others weren't quite as fortunate. We would have stayed longer for puddings and more drinks but couldn't face the long wait to be served again by Miss Grumpy. We've been coming to this pub on and off for 6 years (it used to be great) sadly I think that was our last visit.

Good food, pleasant atmosphere. A bonus we could use discount vouchers too.

Used the function room for my son’s christening and can only say how poor the service/experience was. One person serving behind the bar for both our function guests and people within the pub is not acceptable. For the chef on the carvery section to have to cover the bar and leave the carvery whilst people are waiting to be served is shocking management. We had guests that didn’t even get a drink the whole time they attended the queue was that bad. The facilities in the function room also had hardly any toilet paper both in the men’s and women’s and when we had to try and get the key for the disabled toilets so some people could use the bathroom, it was impossible to get hold of, despite 3 separate people asking. The money that was paid for the food was not reflected. The food came out 2 hours late and as well as there being sandwiches, there was 1 small bowl of chips, 1 small bowl of battered garlic mushrooms, a dinner plate of chicken wings and a small plate of approx. 20 bite size hot dogs, bearing in mind we paid for 45 people! Since being at the function, I have had guests who attended saying nothing but negative comments about their experience at the function, and how it put such a negative on a day that is very important to me and my family. Thank you for making a special day that bit less special.

Carvery was outstanding And looked after us very well

We just had the Sunday lunch carvery today. Very good value and a full plate. A small que but fairly normal for a carvery. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere with other customers. Dog friendly we will be returning.

Went to the pub after a family christening to the function room, very disappointed with lack of service staff available. Only 1 person serving at the main bar, even though there was a bar in the function room this wasn't manned, when a family member went to get a round of drinks it took forever for him to be served due to the size of the queue. When the food was brought to the function room there was insufficient food for the family.

I was glad to see that this visit was excellent in comparison to previous visits. The pub was inviting, clean and well decorated. I really liked that there was a "dog-free" zone, because some of us are cat lovers :). The steak I had was also good - rump steak was sold out, but the sirloin was excellent. Also, there was no annoying loud muzak which meant it was much easier to talk at the table. Thank you!

Very lovely pub, the staff make you feel welcomed and the food is brilliant. I often come over with our little boy and nothing is too much trouble. Full of friendly staff and people.

As a regular customer of the ebdon arms I can honestly say the service is great the food is top notch the atmosphere is impeccable. The staff are always friendly and can't do enough to help.

We visited the Ebdon Arms on 1 November, and whilst one meal Surf and Turf was acceptable , the second meal Steak and Ale Pie was without question appalling and in all fairness to the Ebdon they did offer a refund for the pie, but that was not the purpose our the visit, and having to return the meal was far from acceptable. The pie was microwaved and having complained about the pastry being soggy, and the filling being mincemeat we were offered a replacement which the member of staff said would be no different. It turned out to be a very disappointing visit. Hopefully a change of cooking and supplier would benefit the establishment.

Ben twice recently and food is excellent- only previously been after a funeral as its not far from the crem. Had Mixed Grill before and Fish and Chips tonight- My wife enjoyed the food as well. Recommended.

Really disappointed with the quality and amount of food for a family party in the function room. Staff were no where to be seen, as tea & coffee cups were not collected. Food was delivered late with 1 bowl of chips to feed 40 people?! 1 staff member on the bar at one stage and the queue was back to the door, gave up trying to buy a round of drinks. There was no toilet paper in the function room when we arrived in the ladies & gents toilets and unable to get hold of anyone to replenish. Also, no idea why there were pumpkins on the bar in the function room as we were there to celebrate a christening!

After hearing many good things about the recent carvery happing at the ebdon arms, we took our family of 4 & was accompanied by my sister & her family of 4. Both meats were cooked to perfection & a good amount of self serve veggies on offer. Will definitely return with the parents

Function room hire with food, we have come away very disappointed. 1. There was a very low number of staff meaning it was hard to get anyone’s assistance, ask questions and get help with the room itself, for example the music connection. 2. The food was 2 hours late 3. The food itself was not what we expected and no where near enough for 40 guests, we had to ask for more chips to be bought out. How is ONE bowl of chips meant to feed 40 guests?!?!?!?! 4. We had to chase a couple of times asking where the food was, no one communicated with us that it would be late. 5. The tea and coffee station was not cleared away the whole time we were there 6. There was not enough staff at the bar

We live in the Black Country and were in Weston for a funeral. The Ebdon is well situated for a post crematorium meal. We received a warm welcome and the manager made sure we had clean menus (unlike Wetherspoon last night). There was a good selection of drinks and food. I had Hunters Chicken - very tasty and the chips were hot and crispy - unlike Wetherspoon. My wife enjoyed her gammon and our friend enjoyed her scampi. We treated ourselves to jam sponge and custard to follow. A really enjoyable, great value lunch. I wish this pub was in Kingswinford.

I went for the new carvery on sunday…best roast i’ve had in a while. The staff were super friendly, fast delivery with the food, very organised, amazing atmosphere to a lovely family ran pub and most importantly as per usual the food was amazing. Clean plates for the whole table.

Lovely atmosphere. Went in for a carvery as heard really good things. Booking was easy and helpful. Fresh veg put out constantly to stop anything getting dry. Meat was super juicy & gravy was perfect! Definitely going back- thank you Ebdon Arms!

Really good food. Mostly. The worst thing this pub has done is become a Marstons. They have gotten too big for their boots and now can't seem to run it properly. Letting too many people reserve tables so there's no tables to go to for walk-ins. It's a small area pub the relaxing aspect has now been taken out of it because your told to move as the table has been 'reserved' even if your sat there before hand. I've also noticed the owners 'bitching' about there staff. Or letting people complain about food and telling them it's that way because a certain person hasn't cooked it bad atmosphere but thank God they do good food it's about the only thing they have going for them at the moment.

Went for Sunday carvery with 2 friends. Food was first class, friendly and helpful service and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be back before long.

We go to the Ebdon arms fairly often, but today was our first visit to the carvery. Absolutely delicious and lovely veggi option. They really deserve to do well. Thank-you

Had the pleasure of eating here on their first carvery Sunday, lovely cuts of meat was the crown of my meal and a very charming barman, I've never had someone guide me to my drink of choice so well. I'll be returning with the family to share the experience! 10/10

Although drinks are very expensive, it isn't too bad a place. Food certainly looks OK. Sunday Lunch is available. Sometimes a Carvery. It's not a drinkers place really. But then most places aren't anymore

Lovely venue for a meal with the family last night. Clearly a staffing issue as there was one barman dealing with what appeared to be a party on one side with a mass of diners on the other.

We came for a few drinks on a night out we were high spirited but on arrival supervisior was rude and cold and we felt unwelcome management seemed drunk thankfully we had a lovely barman i think his name was Gareth who went above and beyond to make our night good if it wasnt for him who had a laugh so we stayed for another drink i think we would have had one and moved on overall customers and staff meaning that one barman were ok but wont be taking friends there again

Wouldn't recommend this place. Very sloppy service. Food wasn't cooked very well..we left a lot of it . Nobody around to complain to. Staff that we did see were very scruffy and looked like needed a good wash

This was the first time my Husband and I visited The Ebdon at Wick-St-Lawrence and we will definitely return. The food was lovely and we had good waiter service. Thank you.

We arrived and it was busy, but there was a free table and we sat down and looked at the menu. There is a lot of choice and it looked like good value for money. When a place is busy, you expect to queue at the bar and wait to be served. However the service was slow and chaotic. Staff were leaving the bar area for long amounts of time (three people to change a single barrel for example), the cooking staff came to the bar to serve. There appeared to be no system or process in place for taking orders. It was essentially a free for all. When I came to order I was told that they were only taking drinks orders, so had to wait some more. As I waited, every time someone wanted to order something, they had to go and check if it was on.. When the person in front of me was placing their order and was told that they had no fries, I knew that I has already been waiting 20 minutes to place an order, didn't want to leave the queue to see what people, we made the decision to leave. Considering there were nearly as many people behind the bar taking orders as there was waiting to place an order, I can't quite understand why it was so disorganised and chaotic. If I was the manager there I would be seriously looking at the ordering system and processes. They are losing customers and repeat business. I was also concerned about cleanliness and hygiene. The table we had needed cleaning, and there were plates of half-eaten food on the bar. Overall I was very disappointed.

The pub is located in a lovely quite place. There's plenty of tables and seats, the whole place was spotless. The bar has a great selection of drinks and the staff were friendly and relaxed. The food was great and came out in a decent amount of time. Overall a great pub to go to for either food or drink

We come here weekly throughout the week. Always a great atmosphere, great service and the food is always of a very high standard. The landlords and staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic atmosphere, lovely service even though they were really busy they still made time to chat at the bar and while seeing our food. Highly recommend.

We had been here for fish and chips the night before and found it to be very tasty with portions enough to satisfy .The batter on the fish was very nice and crispy and the fish was nicely cooked. So, we tried the the Sunday lunch the next day. Pleasantly surprised.It was very nice.The best dish though was the bread and butter pudding with custard.This dish deserved 5 stars.Well done chef. We will be back 👍🏻

Recently hired out the function room for a birthday party. Fantastic venue with speakers and skittle alley, food was brilliant and Cheese & the team went above and beyond for us. Would highly recommend!

Lack of meat Looking forward to a lovely Sunday lunch, the absent of pork on our plates we truly could not believe, 2 wafer thin slices of pork loin, if you folded them both over you could fit them in a match box. The barmaid came over and asked if everything was OK, no it wasn't I replied pointing to the 2 slithers of pork, oh that is the standed amount, she offered to get some more pork, but that is not the point, it should have been on the plate to start with. Never again.

Beautiful sunny evening, outside was packed. Only one barman taking orders, queue was out of the door. Once ordered, the service was quick, the food was lovely as usual.

Went to Ebdon for mid week lunch for a treat. Pub was not as busy as expected, then remembered it was mid week. Food was served hot and fresh, venue was clean and tidy, staff were really friendly (chef came out for a chat). Ample car park spaces with only a very short walk through the arch to get to the entrance. First time lunch visit. I would definitely go again when I have some more time off work. Had only previously once for a funeral wake over two years ago (which was also a good experience).

HAD A REALLY NICE 18th birthday meal the food was great the pub was very busy the prices are good the staff were very attentive asking us about our meal cleared the table very quickly after we had all finished

We arranged a get together for an under 12s football team and the managers of the Ebdon arms were very helpful whilst we were organising this and showed great support for the kids. The function room has been newly painted and has fresh carpet, it looks a lot brighter and more inviting. When we ordered food, this was also a vast improvement than in years gone by. We had the pleasure of being able to have the function room for our young football team to watch the England match. I must say i was very pleased with the service we got lovely bar staff very friendly and quick service. They had food during half time which was lovely and went down well with kuds and adults. The function room was very bright and airy with plenty of room. Definitely go back.

After living around the corner to the Ebdon arms for over 20 years and the pub has had many people running it over the years we always hear that new people have taken over and the food is better ,well Every time we go we are disappointed. I went with my young daughter for some food and I had the mix grill and my daughter had burger and chips , I got to say it was the best meal I have had there it was lovely , the staff are friendly and very welcoming. We will come more often.

Always a pleasure going to The Ebdon Arms. Went for lunch, ordering the steak Philly baguette & chicken tenders which were delicious! Super tasty & steak was cooked to perfection. Super friendly staff, nothing was too much! Will definitely be going back!

Great service from young waitstaff on my most recent visit. Steak was nice too. Could do with more bar staff on busy nights, just 1 means a long wait to get served.

I stumbled in after a long rainy and treacherous walk from my home and welcomed by Mr. Cheese man the greatest pub landlord in Weston. His artisan naan bread with the mixed grill is beyond exceptional and hand made in his state of the art kitchen with a bread kiln and his experienced chefs who have cooked across the globe. He regularly comes out and treats all customers with number one quality care. This pub has the best atmosphere in North Somerset but folks watch out for a chap who I believe is called Benjamin Ian Morgan ? Always inappropriately drinking random IPAs and drinking Guinness with English creamy mustard in it an unnecessary mix that I may be added to the menu albeit that chap Benjamin Ian Morgan begins step foot in this awe wondering and inspirational pub. I can’t recommend it enough ! I also have to strongly recommend the Sunday lunch popped in and chief cheese man poured my pint of choice without even asking, my presence was enough !! Where do you get this sort of service nowadays ?? Have to say as well young lad Liam working in there is an excellent young chap with a great work ethic and clearly loves his job. Had the option between lamb and pork absolutely thriving grass fed meats sourced locally and taste fantastic !

Really good hospitality from all staff. Food is cooked to order and well presented. Great atmosphere and clean facilities. Darts board and pool table are new, with a skittles alley in the function room. Highly recommend!!

After tucking into a mixed grill I met chef Cheese as he strolled over to greet me, I was stunned, "wheyy" I exclaimed "this naan is scrumptious chesney" I said. Beautiful public house with sound Tory folk, BOSH!

Great pub, fabulous local atmosphere, some real gents and scrumptious grub! Whahey! Cooked a delicious carnivore diet which coach approved of! Thriving! After a further 13 pints of cruzcampo I engaged in some sound conversation on the Tory agenda! 3er for a 1er??

Bland disappointing pub for such a lovely area. Staff unfriendly and service is very slow. Staff seem uninterested in doing anything. Decor is very tired. Menu is limited with very basic food. This could be such a beautiful local pub if the owners spent time on the menu and staff were trained to welcome customers.

Our local!! But tried to ring all day to book a table, No Reply…. So decided to walk over in the evening to be told can’t have a table without a reservation……how can you book a table if no one answers the phone, no online booking system!! Girl behind the bar says I’ve been on my own all day, surely if you have a promotional offer on you’d staff accordingly, great way to lose a regular customer!!

Love my local. Food is highly recommended. The chef / landlord Andy and husband wife have turned the pub around from on the verge of closing to a busy very popular pub. Hats of to them both.

We've visited the Ebdon Arms a few times in recent weeks. Excellent food, very good value. A super Roast lunch today and we've had evening meals as well which have been just as good. Very friendly staff each time we've been. The pub has a really good atmosphere. A couple of points, they don't serve food on Mondays (but can't see where it says that on their website). It seems quite busy and booking is advisable but the 'Book now' doesn't work on the website so you have to phone to book which can be a challenge. Would definitely recommend

Having had a promotional leaflet delivered, indicating it's valid Monday through to Sunday, we went on a Monday evening only to be told they don't serve food on a Monday!! Apparently the kitchen is closed on Mondays! 😕 So glad they advised that in the leaflet, it would have saved me a wasted journey!!

Honestly such a good pub to go to brilliant food, outstanding service, and also beautiful atmosphere. I would go here everyday if i could.

Had a promotional voucher through letter box and decided to try the new menu. I had surf & turf and partner had 8oz rump. Both were cooked perfectly and all of the trimmings were hot and fresh. Will definitely go again, new land lords have turned this pub/restaurant into a real gem.

The pub was busy, and it was apparent that they were understaffed. The young lad on the bar was new and being trained (the other bar maid told us). It took a long time to order food and drinks, and there were issues with both orders (paid for a large wine but got poured a small; ordered frobishers apple but received britvic 55; one of the kids meals was missed off the order), but all were very pleasant. When it became apparent that the second kids meal had been missed, they got another out as soon as possible and free of charge. The atmosphere was good, the staff were good and the food was lovely (once we got it). The problem at this pub is that they are clearly understaffed. As an aside, we witnessed a customer being incredibly rude to the chap who was running food. He dealt with the situation very well, held his ground but also diffused the situation.

Great food and atmosphere. Short staffed so food took a while to come out, but not a problem. Son in law said it was the tastiest chicken he’d had!

Yet again we visited this pub and yet again we could not get food, the first time we were told the kitchen was closed, this time we were told it was an hour wait, which we said was fine as we could have a drink and wait, we got drinks, looked at menu, went to bar to preorder only to be told they would not allow us to order for at least an hour. Are you really trying to drive custom away, when the pub trade is already suffering due to rising costs. Not impressed at all

Saw that it was a new menu so thought we’d try out the ebdon. Wish we hadn’t. Found a table with no reserved sign, my partner orders food and there was a list of menu items unavailable and there was a 45 minute wait for food. Then had a manager let us know that the table we were sat at was meant to be reserved so we’d need to move by 7:30 but they understood we’d ordered food so hopefully it would be out in time. Chicken wings sharing starter was pitiful, one small dish with a small bbq dip not worth £7.99. Burgers came out, they were bland. I ordered the cheeseburger and barely saw any cheese on it. They’d ran out of sauces and they forgot our side of onion rings. Overall a really disorganised and subpar meal.

Started using it recently,nice big pub but sadly just off the beaten track ,great try clean place prices are good ,will come more often , good for party's an Wakes .

It's been a while since we were last here. The food was lovely, and the service was excellent.

Attended a funeral wake there recently. One member of bar staff for at least 50 guests. This happened also when I.held my mother's wake there, 7 years ago. Definately will not be rushing back. Really appalling management!
