Came for a family birthday dinner and made the most of it though majority of food was very disappointing. Fish & chips mediocre, dirty fries congealed, Thai veg curry just appalling. Nice calamari and a good pudding though. We ate without fuss as it was supposed to be a birthday treat and I didn’t want to embarrass our host. Staff were inexperienced and the place was almost deserted. We’d come because other pubs were booked out. Love coming to the George in the day time to the cafe but the pub offer is not good..

Sausages were awful, 3rd visit, not again. 958133015 The George Inn has a part of it called The Bike Shack. It's all one and the same business. I organise a small cycling group. On each visit, I've complained about their Sausages in their breakfast rolls, they're a truly terrible quality. They refuse to change their supplier which of course is their choice. They prefer profit above quality. We're gone, our choice.

A friendly venue, with great service and food! We were in the area and found this gem of a pub- we were a group of 8 and despite the pubs restaurant area being busy, the manager went out of his way to ensure we were all seated together and arranged our drinks order pronto! It’s a pity that we don’t visit this area very often, but rest assured that we’ll definitely be making a return visit. Definitely can recommend the vegan menu options… unlike some establishments, they were well thought out as opposed to being an afterthought!

Went for a roast on Mother’s Day. On entry, met by a friendly man who seated us. The kids enjoyed the climbing frame in the garden. On the whole, food was nice although the beef on the kids meal was inedible - very over-cooked and chewy. After waiting a very long time, I went to the bar and asked the manager if we could order desserts. Eventually a waiter came and cleared two plates and never returned. In the end we asked for the bill and never bothered with the desserts as the service was so poor.

I recently visited this pub as I was visiting Bristol for the weekend. My initial view on the pub was a very homely country pub with a warm vibe. I had the fish and chips for dinner and it was one of the best pieces of fish I have had in a long time, the batter was just right and there was also plenty of fish! Another thing to note was how friendly all of the staff were and the pint of Guinness was up there with some of the best I have ever drunk. Due to how impressed I was on the Saturday evening, I returned for Sunday lunch before returning home. I cannot fault the service again and the Roast beef was exceptional. Also I would recommend the side of Cauliflower cheese! Overall during both my visits I was very satisfied and impressed and will be returning when I am next in and around the Bristol area.

Six members of a Walking Group had pre arranged lunch booked at this very pleasant and extremely busy Pub. We had a bit of a wait for food as there was a few groups ahead of us being served. We were not concerned by this as the drinks were served very quickly and we had a well positioned reserved table. Everyone was extremely complimentary about the quality and variety of the food. My haddock and chips were excellent, my wife and others had the classic burger which they said was spot on. A very good experience, probable return when it’s not so crowded.

I was one of a group of 16 members of a walking group who came for Christmas lunch. The table was nicely set up with xmas crackers and carafes of water. The service was helpful and friendly and the food was very good. In general the portions were generous. I only had the first two courses but noticed that the chocolate tart and lemon meringue pie portions were large. As the group had been walking before the meal, we didn't all arrive until at least 20 minutes after our booked time but the staff were relaxed about this (we had pre-ordered). DISGUSTED!! I was in the pub with one of my old buddy’s when some young kids came in very politely asked at the bar for their booking. A young girl replied and said there was no food left. This is ridiculous given that it was 4:30 on a sunday. The kids seemed a bit upset given they were celebrating one of their 18th birthdays. The manager then came out into the bar and proceeded to tell the girls if they didn’t like that fact that they had run out of food then they can piss off out the pub. This is just disgusting especially as the pub was full of kids at the time. I will not be returning until this manager and the rude ginger boy have had firm words with.

The food here was absolutely terrible and extremely overpriced for what you got. What a scam. Even the mayo was scrimped on, you could tell it was the cheapest product available on the market. This place is clearly run by people who are all for profit and don't give a damn about anyone's experience or custom. Not complaining about the staff and the beer was well kept, but when you're paying £16 for a Fish & Chips and the chips were hard and the fish was soggy, you feel like you've been robbed of your money. I technically worked an hour and a half to pay for that meal and I will never EVER be coming here again.

Sunday Lunch - our party had been looking forward to our get together and booked a month ago for the table upstairs, which we were told on arrival was no longer available!!! No apology! Wasn't a great start but were accommodated downstairs which was fine. Next we placed an order and paid for a large round of drinks. The guy behind the bar poured 2 then disappeared leaving six of us without drinks - when we realised he wasn't coming back we had to ask another member of staff to finish serving us! Again no apology! The food - Had to ask for extra gravy and again for sauces/mustard which the waiter begrudgingly brought over - two tiny pots for the whole table!!! The same size portion was given to a table of 2 next to us! We gave up asking for more. The food itself was just "nice", Yorkshire Puddings were over cooked and the Pork was all fat and very little meat - it wasn't enjoyable. Beef tasted ok but have had better. Overall - the pub itself is really nice and we all had high expectations but all said and done, I would give it another go but not for Sunday Lunch. I would have expected the staff (and there were plenty of them) to be attentive and more willing to make the customer experience a pleasant one. Maybe they'd had a long day who knows but in hospitality you can't let this show in front of the paying customers especially when you're collectively spending just over £400! To be fair I shouldn't be taring all the staff with the same brush but can only judge on the service we received.

No cutlery, condiments etc. just pretty weak. Happy to pay , understand cost of living and fixed costs in businesses have increase but just felt ripped off for a really very very average (at best) evening Oh - also my sister in law booked a table and had the email proving it. We arrived and guess what? No knowledge of any booking. No helps to find us a table or apologise. It’s not a big deal as they weren’t busy - so we found our own space and joined some table together. Sad really as the evening was to celebrate an 84th birthday. I am not local so won’t come here again anyway but if you are local choose else where to eat - garden looked good for a drink so just stick with that. To the owner / manager. Beer and cider was good and we ordered from the landlord some some starters, bread and oil, whitebait and artichokes, followed by 2 x fish and chips and a pizza. They all arrived together…. Conflicted with this review. Nice pub garden probably a great sun trap in the summer. Staff were polite. Inside needs love - clean but cold/dark. Service very slow. Condiments sort of chucked on a shelf and it’s assumed you help yourself? Menu was reduced from that online none of the burgers advertised, no pizza, no ciabattas - Just a few offerings of real basic pub grub. Guessing staff recruitment issues with a chef? Food was bang average - think spoons with a higher price tag. Chicken burger was two goujons in a roll with lettuce.. Soup of the day was ok but served with lamb schwarma flatbread - stale inedible bread and no lamb in sight? Disappointed with mains so left without ordering dessert. Sad to say I won’t return

We selected the George as it was a good location for six of us to meet. Sadly it was not a good evening. The food was just OK. To be honest a Weatherspoons Curry is much better than the one I ordered. The two bar staff were really pleasant and attentive but not very switched on about the liqueurs available. Unfortunately a group of people on the table next to ours became very noisy. Their dog was distressed and barked repeatedly so as we couldn't talk over the noise we paid up and left. As a parting shot when we mentioned to the group that they had ruined our evening the largest male suggested that we sort it out in the car park! As our average age is 75 we declined!

Thought this place had been closed but was open. Went in for drinks to be told sternly you can only drink in the bar area! I had coffee so ventured to the coffee machine and was told to make it quick then come back to the bar as that area was for diners only. The place was empty. Staff attitude to all the customers we saw in there was awful. Not surprised if it does close or is closing, paying customers should be treated with respect.

Service was excellent and the food was superb. The fish was cooked perfectly, the celeriac vegan main was delicious, the pudding was everything a pudding should be, and tasty coffee. A really enjoyable evening - hope to visit again soon.
