Classic English fish and chips by the sea. Nothing fancy but it was alright.

Came to Weston really looking forward to Fish & Chips, sadly it was not what we hoped it would be. The fish was burnt and absolutely full of bones and this was not a one off as there was bones in all the other pieces of fish ordered also. Chips were ok just a small amount and curry sauce I’ve had much better. All in all not a great experience and will not be returning.

I gave the service 3 stars because they can’t really get it wrong, at one window someone takes your order then at another window someone else gives you your order. The food was TERRIBLE, my family had been looking forward to fish and chips on the sea front since we arrived (Brean) 8 days ago. What a huge disappointment this was, all of our fish was well overcooked, the batter was hard and a very dark colour not light and golden. The fish inside was not white and flakey but dull and FULL of bones. The chips were below average not quite frozen chips from a bag but not far off. The atmosphere was dire as you could see all the other families were having as poor an experience as what we were having. 100% will not be returning and would not encourage anyone else to waste their money.

Lovely fish and chips with decent portions. The only let down was the battered sausage, not really what you’d call battered. Overall it was nice.

Went to have the traditional Cod and Chips by the sea as they had a 5 hygiene rating. Nice people just disappointed by the food. The cod was not deboned which is unheard of today and the chips had a really strange taste to them.

Fish was not only tasteless but also full of bones, I politely asked the restaurant if this was correct and I was shrugged off and given horrible looks! Awful service, the chips were also more like Chinese take out chips rather than a traditional chip shop would be

A lovely view to eat fish and chips from and some really good chips! Unfortunately the scampi was very poor, not very salty. I’d guess it was frozen, as I had to wait longer than other orders for it to be cooked, and it was very watery inside. The prawns were also not deveined which was not pleasant to see. Also had to pay £8.50 for it. Won’t be ordering it again.

Buttered sausage? Really? My child said it is very sad sausage. Shame. How long it was waited for customer? Few hours.

Unfortunately called in for a fish and chip lunch. Staff were friendly but the food was absolutely dreadful and inedible. The fish must have been around for hours. It was very thin and dry and the batter was soaked through and running with fat. It all ended up, virtually untouched, in the bin. Probably the worst fish and chips we have ever had. Disappointing as we generally really like Weston.

The chips I had was ok, they always have taste better from the seaside, and they are always really quick at get the food put for you as I've never had any issues with this fish bar as goto this one most of the time when I'm in Weston super mare

Despite seemingly changing hands over the past couple of years, these are still by far the best fish and chippies in Weston! And good value for money. The queues are testament to that, too!

Premium priced food for low quality food. Cheap quality fish, the only preparation taken part is dipping it in the batter. Bones throughout, and skin left on. Not told this until I sat down to eat. Imagine if a child had this and didn't notice??? Pure laziness of staff and lack of warning. Disgusting attitude from servers. Wouldn't recommend again.

Large portion of chips was £3.45. Not the best chips but OK size and crispy with a fluffy inside. Little seating area out front is good to eat.

The Waterfront Fish Bar. First visit to this fish bar. Great service when ordering my fish and chips. Food served in good time and great standards. Fish was a great size, chips was cut well. The fish passed the crunch test and nice white cod. Chips was crispy and fluffy. Great price and just right size for a meal for the price. When in the area next I will return. Recommend.

The food was excellent, we had lunch and sat in the restaurant area upstairs, service was great, they even brought our food up to the table for us once it was cooked.

Fairly large size piece of cod (maybe 5-600g?) and portion of chips for £7.95, but with skin-on (ick,) that wasn't mentioned. Next door at a (cheaper) chippy, which had been in business for 80 years, they advertised skinless, boneless; I should have gone there. This fish was dry and overcooked, considering I purchased during lunch rush, this should not have occurred. The staff were efficient, but not welcoming. I guess it's just an industry: gobs filled. I will not go back.

The older women who works here is vile! Had a problem with her a few times now. not sure customer facing is the best for her. Shame because I enjoyed their chips! But now refuse to eat here! Tried the fish and chip restaurant next door and it was delicious with excellent service! Think I’ve found my new spot!

Nothing special. A long wait for Fish thats overcooked with bullet proof batter. Would not go there again for fish and chips.

visited on holiday ordered meals to eat in did not do hot drinks...directed upstairs take our own food .....food was good...dining area scruffy(very)....table top was loose....not the ritz....not very clean don't bother.

Used to really enjoy here as there chips were really nice however I went here today to order chips, 2 curry sauces and a portion of peas and the lady serving us had made an error on the order previous to ours so the cod and chips she had, was put back into the holding counter and the chips were thrown back in on top, she then proceeded to put these chips into a polystyrene tray for us. If I ate fish and didn’t have an intolerance, would have been okay; however I had explained that those chips would make me ill as it was cross food contamination due to me having a fish intolerance. She then proceeded to argue with me and tell me that all the vats of oils are mixed together and passed down from one vat to the chips, meaning the chips are not cooked separately and are all cooked with meat. Therefore if you are vegetarian or vegan you will be eating cross contaminated food. No signs are put up to inform customers of this and the cross food contamination could make people seriously ill so please beware. She also told me that if I had illnesses I shouldn’t eat there. Personally after 2 years of enjoyment, I shall not ever be ordering from there again.

It may be a personal taste, but I don't like my battered fish to still have the skin on it so it's not for me.

It's a 5 star from me, gr8 food, gr8 value, gr8 location, gr8 service and a gr8 place to watch the world go by weather seated at the chip shop, sat on the sea wall or in your car on a rainy day. Less than £15 for the 2 of us which is a very good price compared to the chip shops in our town.

It was a beautiful day and the sun was shining, we'd gone out to collect something and decided to have a very late lunch 5pm ish more like early dinner, we were pretty much in Weston-super-Mare so what better than sitting on the sea front with a bag of chips watching the world go by. We parked up near the front but every fish&chip shop was closed or closings, right opposite the Pier, The Waterfront chip shop was still open so we gave it a go, I sat outside, hubby ordered cod and chips mushy peas and a bread roll for himself and I had chips and curry sauce and a bread roll, the food was really quick, and really nice, possibly the nicest I've had in a long time, with hubby saying the best mushy peas he's had in a very long time too. It only had 5 or so outside tables don't think any inside, perfect for a sunny day not so on a rainy day, but the food is in take away boxes so just as good to have in the car on that rainy day still watching the world go by So to summarise.... Great location, Great food, Great people watching spot, Great car watching spot, great service and Great value for money, we were really really pleased we went there, will definitely go back.

Terrible fish and chips, fish had skin on and was full of bones, rock hard batter and totally tasteless, chips were as bad..absolute waste of money as it all went in the bin. Certain the fish was not cod and was definitely not fresh, saw a large tray full of fish brought through to be put into the hot plate so is definitely not cooked to order. Never buy from there again.

After being let down with places I bookmarked to go for lunch as they weren't open, we came across this place as there were a lot of people buying from there. It was just exactly what we wanted: Cod & Chips for £7.95. Big portion, freshly made and at reasonable price. We made use of the sunny weather and sat outside. A lot of spaces to sit to enjoy it. Recommended.

Absolutely brilliant for the prices can't knock it. A top tip is to get drinks beforehand as the food is very reasonably priced and the curry sauce etc but the drinks are on the dearer side. Plenty of tables and chairs to sit on and eat it.

They left the scales on. Who does that? The chips were alright but you can’t mess those up the batter was thin and soft but also hard.

Been going here for years and always loved the practicality of the location. Usually get a buttered roll and curry sauce with my chips. They are lovely and crunch. Even open today in the winter which was perfect for me and the kids on a day to the beech

Ordered cod & chips, went to collect - only to find, the fish, and no chips!! Looked surprised when I asked for them! They were quite nice, decent colour but, the fish comes in a hard board batter which is difficult to eat or swallow! Could you use a lighter batter, maybe?? Maybe next year . . . Price was pretty good at today’s prices. No other fish available though.

Went to Weston Super Mare for the day and this was one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, very friendly staff, nice dining area and the food was excellent! Curry sauce is a must with fish and chips and my word it didn’t disappoint! Fantastic food would come back in a heartbeat. Keep up the good work guys!

The rudest Woman I have ever encountered works here. I had food from next door and sat on outdoor seating, not realising it belonged to this place. Can I just say, on a September afternoon where NOBODY else was sat on their tables, to tell me to get off their tables I found incredibly insensitive, rude and unnecessary. You could have raised the issue and allowed me to continue feeding my child yet you forced us to leave. . The fact their seating apart from us were empty speak volumes. I used to visit this place as a child and brought my small family to experience their food but I can now say in confidence I will never return. Get rid of Karen.

Great service, very pleasant and food came out quickly. Fish was almost certainly not Cod, cooked with skin on and very greasy. Chips were nice, seemingly the cheapest place in the vicinity, and also has a handy little ropes off seating area. Very good location. It wasn’t the best and i wouldn’t go rushing back, but overall it did the job.

Terrible service, mis heard us and placed extra stuff on order and shamefully we didn’t complain at the time to sort it. And when we sat down to eat, the whole lot we ate was foul, never would return and wish we’d paid a little extra elsewhere

This was by far the best fish and chips, ive had in ages!!! Usually i find fish and chips a bit bland and have an alternative but i thought id give it go. It was really tasty and it might have to be our new caravan tradition. Also excellent service and duper fresh!

First I will say staff really pleasant. Unfortunately that was the best part. We ate here last visit to Weston and really enjoyed the cod and chips so naturally this was the first place we headed for on our return. It wasn't busy with seats available to sit and eat. All three of us had the cod, none of us enjoyed it. The fish was really wet to the point of of bordering on sloppy and the batter was not at all crispy and was a little leathery to eat. Chips were ok but not as good as I remembered from last time. We saw other people who had the fish and theirs was the same. I'm sorry to sound so negative but I've had better at many places before and even here.

The chips were lovely, bread roll stale 🙈 and the fish bites were chicken not fish walked to far before i realised it wasn't fish but was nice. The lady seemed very grumpy and didn't want to be there 🙈

Chips are really good. Great price and not greasy. Fish a bit on the thin side but crispy. Seating upstairs is clean and stops you getting attacked by seagulls or blown away. Recommended

I ordered a regular portion of chips and mushy peas which came to £3.50. I believe this is very reasonable, however, the chips were terrible. Half were over cooked and had clearly been sat around for a considerable amount or time, resulting in a cold and soggy experience. The mushy peas were also cold bland and provided no extra flavour. Overall, the worst chips I have ever bought , complete waste of money . It may have been due to the fact we arrived an hour before closing , but that doesn’t excuse the complete disregard to attention and quality of their product. Never again.

Tried to pay with card but the machine was down so was directed next door to a cash point which charged me £1.90!, the bought 2 x cod and chips which were covered in oil the bater was smooth and saturated in oil and undercooked, what a complete waste of time and money chips were anaemic too they could have benefitted from hotter oil and time to cook! Gross!

The food was lovely however they tried card payment and it didn’t work twice so I decided to get cash out instead and I now looked on my online banking and they have taken them two payment as well as cash and I am no longer in the area

Soggy battered fish with mediocre chips that had plenty of black/bad bits. Petty that they charge extra for condiments especially as already relatively expensive. Would only suggest a visit if you don't want to leave the seafront and you're visiting off season/winter.

If you are looking for anything more than chips then walk by Chips were a 7 out of 10 Fish 1 out of 10. Not even sure it was cod and very possibly frozen. Certainly not fresh, the fish was slimy and not flakey, batter was soft apart from a small piece on the tail which I wouldn’t eat anyhow. Fish was skin on which is cool but bones aplenty which is not cool in this day and age. Curry sauce was 6 out of 10. I could see the battered sausages that other people weee served, these looked terrible also. Wouldn’t go back here

Visited about a year ago and the food was ok. Tried it again in August and much has improved. It was a lovely evenings day, there was outdoor seating, the ordering system seems to have improved and the food was pretty much cooking as customers arrived, which meant the food we got had pretty much just come out the fryer. The chips were nice and the fish actually wasn't to bad, good size, crispy batter and not soggy and greasy.

Had cod and chips here on our recent visit to WSM . The fish was was huge in a lovely golden batter and the chips were cooked to perfection , even the curry sauce was good and at £6.95 the price was good too. I can eat quite large portions but I couldn’t even finish it all . I would definitely recommend to others .

We stopped here after going on the arcade games, the fish and chips portion were very very good for the price. The only thing we hoped for is that my partner's fish was a little more crispy. Would have given it 4.5 stars if I could!

There OK for beach front seaside chippy they had the market cornered Sunday night only chippy open for miles. My only quibble was they were to busy to ask questions on asking the server if the chips where gluten free he shrugged his shoulders and said they might be but probably not this is not a helpful answer to give with a hungry Coeliac in the family. It said on the window to ask about diatary and allergy info my advice don't bother your wasting your time.

Good Points: - Prices are reasonable, - Decent Portion, - Convenient Location, - Quick Service - Open when others were closed (which is why we got it from here) But the fish was very bland and so were the chips. All three of us didn't end up finishing it. 😬 Based on the fish and chips alone, I would rate it lower but wouldn't be fair considering the good points.

It came in a lovely big box, but the portions were rather poor inside it. The food itself turned out to be utterly dreadful.. The 'fish' had the skin left on, and was sliced thinner than the soles of a ballerinas shoes. I've seriously had more 'fish' in a no frills fish finger. No idea what kind of 'fish', it was, but it certainly wasn't Cod. It was bland and tasteless. The final let down was that the chips were awful too. Luke warm and half cooked. Beats me why are so many of our seaside 'Fish & Chip' shops so abysmal?! Ruined a nice day out.

Great value on the seafront. After trying several of the “best” in Weston shops and repeatedly being disappointed, this little gem stands out. Always fresh and hot. COVID safe as well.

Best fish and chips by far , ive eaten fish and chips all over the country and world , and i am driving 150 miles on sunday just for fish and chips then driving home , and if weather nice might stay a hour like i did a few months ago .

Did feel that double sausage and chips over priced, just because they are sea front doesn't mean you have to charge £3:00 for two sausages.

This would be 5 ☆ but having looked forward to in my favourite fish and chips saying I was disappointed doesn't discribe how I felt the chips were rank the fish was bland and the batter well i don't know what to say horrible would be the best way of describing it. If we come to wsm again next year I hope you improve your standard back to how they were.
