We went for breakfast this morning and it was one of the worst we’ve had here. The sad thing about it is you never know what sort of experience you’re going to get at the Langford, it’s very inconsistent! We ordered toast and poached eggs on toast which took 45 minutes to come out and when the eggs came out we felt like there could have been a little more oomph put in to it 😅 (see pic)

Went for a Sunday roast, the pub itself is lovely, beautifully set out and looked like there was a fantastic beer garden to the rear. The roast was fine, but on the higher end from a price point and so expected it to be perfect, which it wasn't. Cauliflower cheese was delicious and cheesy, the veg was all nice. But the beef was tough, it was cooked rare. Which is fine as long as the meat is tender but unfortunately it wasn't, I had to ask for a steak knife to be able to cut it. It was extremely busy and the serving team were a little stretched, it took around 20 minutes from ordering a drink for it to arrive, but I put this down to a busy service. I would definitely give it another go and expect in the summer it would be an amazing place to spend an afternoon in the sun, but for the price point both service and food need to be spot on. Which unfortunately wasn't the case on this occasion.

We attended The Langford Inn for Valentines day, being regular visitors of this 'higher end' pub in Somerset. We have heard there have been a few staff changes recently and this is really reflected in the quality of service and food we were served during our recent visit. Previously I would say this place was close to some Michelin star pubs/restaurants we have been to but I hate to say that this is very much not the case any more. The food quality, presentation and service has certainly declined more recently. On valentines day, I had the beef Wellington with mash and I hate to say that the pastry was burnt and the mash very bland. Then our dessert of chocolate fondant, which should be a warm dish unfortunately came out cold and did not taste home made, it was very dry. On top of this the service was rather slow and we had to approach the bar to pay our bill at the end. Sadly this will no longer be a regular place to eat for us unless the higher standards return as the menu is certainly not the cheapest.

My wife and I had a very mixed experience on Saturday the 8th of February. The waitress serving us was very attentive and friendly, until she wasn't. We had delicious starters and equally delicious mains. The service was great, until we finished our mains. When the waitress cleared our plates, we eventually decided to have a look at the dessert menu, to which we were told they'd be brought right over. They weren't. We waited about 15 minutes and the desert menu didn't arrive, so we went up to the bar and found a couple. Then, after another 15 minutes of waiting, no one came to take our dessert order, so we then flagged down a separate waitress and asked for the bill. It's not like we were sat in a corner out of the way, we were sat right next to the kitchen, our original waitress walked past multiple times and didn't check in with us. It's as if the staff just stopped doing their job after a certain point. We've eaten at The Langford Inn a number of times before, and it's always been brilliant, but for some reason this experience was underwhelming, and left us feeling quite disappointed. We won't be rushing back any time soon…

We went here for Sunday lunch to celebrate my and my sister’s birthday. We chose it because my sister had previously had a positive experience there, but unfortunately our meal didn’t live up to that standard. We waited over an hour for our food - previous reviews have commented on the need for more staff and I completely agree. We had booked a table. We waited a very long time to order, and were seated by the door being blasted by cold air everytime it opened. My dad’s drink was forgotten, then after the endless wait for food my uncle’s food was forgotten too. The food itself was below expectations. The vegetarian Wellington came with a gravy that was very salty and not enjoyable. All the roast meals came with a sliver of carrot, three small potatoes and a small portion of kale. This was the first time I’ve ever had a roast dinner in a pub and come away hungry! My mum had beef and said it was too tough and over cooked. The staff were nice enough and apologised for the mistakes but overall it was a disappointing experience. We all agreed that we won’t go back.

The last flight from Bristol to Barcelona at eight in the afternoon was canceled due to snowfall and we, 5 people, had to find a nearby hotel to leave on the first flight in the morning. We requested rooms for that night and they welcomed us wonderfully and with great kindness. They allowed us to eat in the pub even though it was already closed. The rooms are super comfortable, quiet and have an exceptional atmosphere and service. We appreciate the facilities that they gave us at all times. Many thanks to the people of the hotel.

Lots of food options weren't available and the food available was expensive for what it was. I had the schnitzel and although nice, it was just the schnitzel, egg and Brussel sprout, which I felt didn't feel like a main meal on its own. The service from the waitress was very good. The pub itself looked nice and clean. I just expected more from the food, which may have been different if they had the options we wanted.

Christmas Lunch I would not recommend the Langford Inn for Christmas. We had to wait 1 hour 45 minutes for mains, which were dreadful. The potatoes were overcooked, the pastry was wet, and we got just one carrot. They said there would be a side of vegetables, but all we got were sprouts - no carrots and no parsnips. After that, dessert came quickly; however, they were frozen and inedible. When I went to get the bill for this 'fantastic' experience, it cost £228. What a way to ruin Christmas.

Had a meal here. Took over an hour for our food to arrive, despite pre-ordering. A further hour and a half to get our puddings and get the bill. Some things we had to ask for three times. Staff were friendly but something is going badly wrong at this place for the service to be so awful. Clearly nowhere near enough staff. Sometimes we had to wander around to find people to ask why we still weren’t being served. Food was ok but some of it cold or overcooked. Not alright given the price level. Would never go again and will be wouldn’t recommend.

Firstly, very overpriced food given the quality of the food presented to us. It was a bit of a mixed bag. Out of our party of four, one had a starter and said it was delicious, if not a fairly tiny portion. For mains, there were two Pies of the Day, pleasant enough unexciting flavours , but not worth the £20 price tag, and two ox cheek ‘wellingtons’. The pastry was dry and overcooked, almost burnt underneath, and the filling was bland and paste-like with an under-seasoned, tasteless gravy. Accompanied by a large pile of , again, underseasoned bland mashed potato, the star of the show was one glazed carrot. Two puddings were nicely executed and very tasty, whilst with the affogato the espresso was cold, so the end result was a cold slop. Considering we only had 2.5 pints of beer between us, and four coffees, to have to pay £40 per head for an indifferent meal was steep. Service was included, but , although a pleasant enough young man, he was slow, with items arriving at intervals, forgetting orders and having to return, and the coffee arriving 10 minutes before the puddings. As service was added we did not have the option of giving what we thought fair. The restaurant was rather cool, albeit on a cold day, and lacked character. All-in-all, a disappointing lunch and we will not be returning or recommending it to friends.

An update: we visited again in October 2024 and were disappointed that the quality of the Sunday lunch is no longer what it used to be. The roast potatoes were barely warm and could have been cooked the day before, soft and no crisp to them. The beef was tough and our party agreed this was like eating at a different pub. Maybe the chef has changed or it was a bad day in the kitchen? Quality control is simply not present which is a shame as the previous few visits had been outstanding where the food was concerned. The food used to be consistently good, sadly no longer. The only negative is the drinks are excessively expensive. £84 on excellent Sunday lunch, both in quality and value. The downside was the shockingly high drinks bill which took the cost of a Sunday lunch to £170. Only 4 glasses of wine, a pint of IPA, pint of cider and 3 coffees. Definitely a great place to go for food but a few drinks can elevate the cost of Sunday lunch to 'special occasion only' level which is a shame as it is really good.

Not enough staff. Those overworked staff were dealt a terrible hand by management and everything was going wrong. Kitchen loudly complaining about an order through an open pass is just amateurish. Couple next to us abandoned dinner as their food eventually arrived cold. Feel sorry for the waiter and waitress there. More training and staff numbers obviously required to save this place. The building is wonderful, shame the owners don't know what they're doing. No manager to be seen on a Sunday evening, pathetic.

An amazing pub with bags of character. I was extremely impressed with the welcome we received upon arrival, and as it was glorious sunny day, we were given some good tips on where to explore locally. The room we stayed in was delightful, with dual aspect large windows. The bathroom was equally impressive. I love the toiletries and pillow spray - a very nice touch! Food was superb. Having reviewed the menu become coming, the only let-down was not being able to try the Beer Bread, which unfortunately had run out! (This is just a restaurant review) The restaurant is very clean and decorated nicely. It gave a warm and inviting feeling which we really liked. The food was absolutely delicious too. We ordered the burnt onion hummus and the lamb belly to share for starters. (Great combination by the way). Then we ordered the steak for mains and a fig pudding for dessert. All were great. What was disappointing was the service. We overheard our waiter talking to the other table that it is his first week working here so we gave the benefit of a doubt and made no fuss. The first thing was that me and my husband ordered a steak, both with peppercorn. Not sure why they only served one steak with peppercorn sauce so we waited a couple minutes for the sauce which is fine. But why was one sauce considerably paler than the other? When we finished our mains, the waiter asked if we would like to see the dessert menu. Of course we said yes! It only took 10 minutes until we were fed up of waiting so I got up to get the menu. Not sure how he forgot as the menu’s were on the bar and the bar wasn’t so far away. And it was NOT busy at all! There were about 4 other tables. I’m so confused on how he forgot even though he went near our table a couple times to check on us with nothing on the table and we saw him even looking for things to do. Anyways when I got up to get the menu, he apologised which is fine because it’s his first week (he’s also a grown man who looks like he’s had experience but whatever) anyways, when he took our order, my husband ordered the fig pudding and I ordered a cappuccino with vanilla syrup. I saw him write it down but why did ONLY the fig pudding come? I was watching him and he wasn’t busy at all. My husband was almost done with his pudding and at that point I was really annoyed. Seriously, it’s drink with espresso and warm milk, how did the dessert come first and it was finished? Im just glad that the cappuccino wasn’t included in the bill because that would be ridiculous but I’m just so confused how I saw him write down cappuccino with vanilla syrup but not serve it!! What’s also hilarious is that when we asked for the bill, he was so quick to give us the bill and when we paid, he asked “how was everything guys? Aside from the sauce being late” I LOVE how he didn’t even remember to have the cappuccino served or that he left us waiting 10 minutes for a dessert menu. Also the prices for the food were a bit pricey which we wouldn’t mind because we like supporting local and independent businesses but if the service is like this then it isn’t worth it.

The welcome from Nick and his team was amazing, friendly, and welcomed us in with a smile and reassurance that everything was in place. Even though we hadn't brought our dog, we were thrilled to see dogs in the pub, one of the things that will definitely bring us back to the Langford Inn. We loved the pub, and food was lovely. Our room was just beautiful, with everything we needed, it was a pity we couldn't enjoy the facilities to the full as we had to leave early to catch our flight, otherwise we would have been very happy to stay and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Nick however provide us with a packed breakfast with fruit and delicious pastries. We are quite fussy travelers, and we do like our comfort which is why I would highly recommend Nick and his team at the Langford Inn. It was miserable weather for several days so we decided to treat ourselves to lunch out and chose the Langford Inn as we'd had a good experience there previously. We booked the day before for Friday lunchtime but we needn't have as it was fairly quiet. This time we took our elderly collie, who could not have enjoyed himself more. He received lots of cuddles and his own bowl of water. We also enjoyed ourselves and both had 3 excellent courses and similarly excellent service. The whole place seems very clean and welcoming and it's lovely to find a 'dog friendly' pub that really does go all out for our canine friends. Thank you very much.

We have been going for Sunday lunch for a number of years, the food and service has always been very good! On this occasion though it seemed every aspect of the experience was mediocre…. Food was still of a good standard but service was very poor considering the restaurant was less than half full! Drinks took a long time, beer was flat and drinks missed off order, asked for two beef roasts and received a beef and a chicken roast, no check back or clearing of empty glasses! The audacity to then charge a 10% service charge! Will be looking elsewhere for our family Sunday roast.

Arrived here after visiting the Butcombe Brewery in nearby Wrington. This inn was recommended to us by the brewery staff, don’t normally say this but what a great recommendation! The inn was spacious and the food was exceptional, staff were pleasant and friendly, although the service was a little bit slow on occasions but that shouldn’t put you off in trying out this inn! Price wise I felt it was reasonable and certainly no more expensive than other places. Good village location, cannot comment on the rooms as I didn’t stay there but understand that they are reported to be very good. It also has a good beer garden which we enjoyed. So give this place a go if you’re in the area for a lunch or dinner spot and I’m pretty sure you won’t be disappointed, the Butcombe Original beer was also most enjoyable!

I visited the Langford Inn and was greeted by a friendly man who handed us menus and told us to choose a seat. While the lack of a designated table was different, it seemed strange since it was quiet. However, it was disappointing that some menu items were unavailable without prior notice. Despite that, the starters we received was delicious and well presented. The staff started off a bit unfriendly but became warmer towards the end, asking about our experience. The main courses had mixed results; the burger was average, but the pork was decent. The cozy atmosphere has potential, and with some staff training and menu changes this could become a great dinner spot.

Popped in here (after booking ahead of time) after a flight into Bristol to have some much needed breakfast. We were earlier (9am) than our booked time (10:15), but that caused no problem - and indeed we were greeted using my first name when I mentioned we had booked already; lovely attention to detail. We were both hungry, so ordered the Full English which didn’t disappoint. Sausages were the special highlight, just lovely. We were served quickly (it wasn’t busy that time of day on a Thursday) and attended sufficiently to see if we needed more coffee/tea etc. Not overly cheap for a breakfast - £15 per person with coffee/tea extra (and there are admittedly lots of options to choose from including at more reasonable cost, but it was worth every penny; and a great way to start the day Just a really lovely, friendly and comfortable feel to The Langford…hence why we returned…and will do so again when nearby. Thank you

The food, particularly the beef was tasty. The menu is evening restaurant rather than lunchtime pub and priced accordingly so not now in my view as good value as previously.

Lovely country pub. Excellent service and food. We nipped in after catching a flight back to Bristol. Would definitely visit again.

Had a fabulous meal last night at the Langford Inn! Our server was super friendly and put up with our terrible sense of humour (so sorry, we don't know her name but she was pregnant and definitely deserves a mention). Food was on point as always and my parents who are visiting thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The cheese doughnuts were to die for!

There were four of us dining, three of us had fantastic food, however the forth meal was so bad my wife could not eat it. The service was very slow and I only saw three staff, which was not enough with the amount of people. The waitress asked my wife if everything was ok with the food, as she cleared the plates as my wife had not eaten her meal. My wife explained it had not been cooked properly and was horrible. The waitress said oh dear and that was that. We had eaten here before, but won’t return.

We had a lovely stay at the Langford Inn - the rooms were very spacious and really well equipped! We had a great evening meal. The staff were very welcoming and even made us bacon sandwiches and coffee to go for our journey home!

Well done to The Langford Inn. A busy atmosphere, attentive bar staff who carried my drinks to the dining table. The food was delicious. Hats off to the chef and their team. We had duck & steaks which were fab. My only comment would be why not put a few vegetables on the plate for colour, health & value. It would add so much to the dish. Main courses are expensive enough without adding sides. A super evening. Thankyou to all the staff.

Food was excellent but the hour wait for it to it arrive was not so good, also discounts were only given when asked for.

Food was ok, but not worth the price. Human service was polite, accommodating and friendly, BUT... the wait for the food was interminable, and being told that our meals were the next ones to come out was incredibly galling as two other tables then got their meals before us! Take a book, and don't visit if very hungry, because you can expect to wait a long, long time to get something to eat...

As ever, the food is superb, with expertly put together menus offering out of the ordinary choices. Very friendly and efficient staff make the world of difference to the experience as well, thank you for that. Highly recommend the sweet treats to finish off. The steak could have been slightly more tender, but it was well cooked and seasoned.

A lovely hotel tucked away in the Bristol countryside. Perfectly positioned to act as a stay, prior to a flight from Bristol Airport. Literally 8 mins from the Silver Zone car park area. The decor in the room was all very clean and new. The bar and restaurant area was large but with several nooks and areas to feel small. The food was very good, it wasn't cheap, but then good food is worth paying for. The room we stated in, The Yatton, was very clean and smartly decorated, the bathroom was clean, well lit and newly refurbished. Most rooms had a car park space right outside thier rooms. Only small criticism would be that it's on the end by the main car park so any noisy leavers may disturb. In general, this wasn't an issue. All staff were attentive and friendly too. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be back, next time we are in the area.

The staff could not have done more to provide our breakfast group with exactly what we wanted: a room to ourselves, a large square table (and individual payment arrangements!) Only one tiny issue - the sour dough toast was a little difficult to cut (although the avocado/poached eggs dish on top was perfect) Thank you.

Food was excellent but the service last night was absolutely shocking had to wait ages to have our drinks order and even after we had ordered our food the was significant delays both food arriving and table being cleared. They weren't busy and there was no communication as to the reason for delays. Staff seemed happy to have a chat amongst themselves rather than checking that their customers were ok

Thought this place had been closed but was open. Went in for drinks to be told sternly you can only drink in the bar area! I had coffee so ventured to the coffee machine and was told to make it quick then come back to the bar as that area was for diners only. The place was empty. Staff attitude to all the customers we saw in there was awful. Not surprised if it does close or is closing, paying customers should be treated with respect.

Had our Sunday Roasts here.Very busy as understandable as it is Mother's day. Service Great, & the Roasts. Plenty of outdoor space for a Sunny day. Highly recommended a visit. Just prepare time for parking, as Carpark Small .Otherwise 100%.

Waited over 1.5 hours with a child for cold food, they have a cheek to call themselves a restaurant. Get fish and chips from a takeaway instead
