Three of us went for breakfast it was absolutely brilliant, everything was piping hot, the breakfast yorkshires were amazing. Staff were very helpful and friendly This is definitely worth going to.

Visited late Sunday afternoon. All staff were pleasant and attentive. Karen on front of house deserves special mention. She really went above and beyond to ensure our visit was perfect.

Lovely friendly staff, food hot delicious loved the lamb, came for my birthday put banners on, brought out a pudding singing happy birthday manager even took photo of us all was absolutely brilliant can't fault it will be back.

Karen went out of her way to help our family today. She found quieter seating and adapted the food slightly to suit our son’s needs. Much appreciated, as always.

Had a fantastic time with my family at Toby Carvery Lympstone last week. We were sat in the bar area due to having a small dog and were served by the lovely lad on the bar. Believe his name was Zak, similar to myself. Will definitely be returning with the family again.

Came in at 7.30 Lady that greeted us was lovely. Believe her name was Karen. That's probably as good as it got. Asked for a more quieter table, got sat slap bang in the middle. Went up got food, sat down, potatoes were cold in the middle. Veg was meh, probably been there a while. Girl serving us, was rude and a bit cocky. Not the best experience as been before and had alot better

Wow fantastic as always food hot and plenty of choice meat melts in your mouth and the staff are polite friendly and really make you feel welcome and that nothing is to much can't wait to go back

Went to have lunch with my mother had a cheese and onion chutney sandwich for £5-49 you would have thought you would get nice fresh sliced bread not normal sliced out of a plastic bag there wasn't even any butter on the bread and there was more chutney than cheese never again

The food itself is good value for money and staff seem friendly and approachable however the lower part of the restaurant has a serious damp/mould issue which you can smell as you walk down into that part of the restaurant. It is particularly pungent and as an asthmatic you can feel it on your chest. We were unfortunately seated right beneath a large patch of damp/mould which I did complain about and was told that table shouldn't be used and was offered some discount to apologise.

We booked a table for 5 o clock on New Year's Eve for 6 people. when we arrived we were told that we only had 10 minutes before the carvery was being cleared away as they were closing early. The food looked terrible the roast potatoes were dried out, the cauliflower cheese had no cheese on it and the stuffing shot across the table when I put my fork in it. While we were eating the staff decided to clear away the gravy bowls and started spraying polish just opposite where we were sat which wasnt very pleasant. When we decided we'd had enough of this so called roast dinner the plates were taken away and that was the last we saw of the staff, no one came back to ask if we would like a dessert or a coffee. On leaving we told the only member of staff we could find what a disappointing evening we 'd had and she just shrugged and said she was sorry. If they were closing early why take bookings when it's clear they had no interest in giving customers a good service and couldn't wait for us to leave.

Very disappointing experience. We called in on the off chance for an early dinner with our nearly 4 year old and our dog. The dog was welcome in the bar area which was fine although it is looking a bit grubby but we have the dog so we can live with that. There was a very poor selection of beers and lagers on tap - it was pretty much one choice or bottled. We ordered a refill for our daughter - who barely drank one - it would have been handy to know it would have been so much more expensive. The food was, I’m sorry to say, absolutely terrible. I appreciate that carvery veg is left under lights for a while but it was very poor. Peas like bullets, carrots and sprouts seem to be reheated frozen and not at all tasty. My daughter is usually a veg lover but wouldn’t eat any of it, she said it tasted funny and, sadly it did. I chose beef, it was almost inedible - very chewy and not very flavoursome, my daughter had turkey which was extremely dry - even the dog didn’t eat it! My husband had beef and pork and had the same problem. The Yorkshire puddings were lovely though! We only had the one course but were charged for two courses for the child’s meal - we were told a pudding was included but then were told we would need to pay and extra £1 for her ice cream. Since we were told it would be included and her meal was already a wasted £7.49 there was no way we were paying extra! We were extremely disappointed and will be emailing a complaint directly to Toby as well. Such a shame as we are local and it used to have a really good reputation but will definitely won’t be going back. I would say that the staff were

we came for a Carvery and it was excellent. I booked on line and found it easy.I noticed that 12.30 was fully booked whilst we were there 40 people came in as one booking.and were accommodated so easily it was amazing.I would recommend the Nuttwell (Toby) Carvery to anyone who enjoys a quality, inexpensive meal.

I work in this industry and Toby like the Brand I work for have alot of pubs that are hit and miss. This however was a big hit for us. There was 8 of us who came for lunch today and we were looked after by the most amazing server. She was wearing a trainee namebadge and her name was Alice I think. Now...before anything, the welcome we had was wonderful, we were shown to our table. The carvery was very good, we all enjoyed it and my daughter enjoyed the meatballs. Now back to Alice (hoping name is right), she went above and beyond with my daughter, took her to see where Santa sits and so much more. She is a true credit to your business. I see they've had a few bad reviews recently but we had nothing but a positive experience. Definitely give it a go. We will be back.

We booked a table for my daughters birthday. Travelling an hour to get there. We arrived at correct time of booking with booking confirmation . We were seated in the bar area as our reserved table was still occupied. When I asked for a different table in the restaurant, which is what we booked for we were told we couldn't, although there looked to be lots available. I said we were here to celebrate my daughters birthday so was told if we sat in the bar area we would get waitress service. So we sat there. There were lots of staff on duty but not once did anyone acknowledge us while we were sat at the sticky table. We ended up walking out with a very disappointed birthday girl.

Extremely awful! Waited for a table even though we booked. Tables not cleared, clearing hatches full of dirty crockery and glasses. Carvery area food all over the floor and on counters. Food not replenished, waited after meat being carved for yorkies, roasties, stuffing. Vegetables standing 2 high to be replenished jad to ask staff for them. Extremely miserable about it. Too be honest we all wished we walked out. We hardly had eaten a.ythi g we did choose. The very worst Carvery we have ever been too I do not do reviews This place needed one Stay away please. Absolutely shocking service , Staff member ruined our family lunch , Refund given for 1 dinner due to us not being able to finish it , The roast was almost inedible anyways due to the potato’s being rock hard , The mash potato was solid , The peas were dried up and hard , Carvery chef was grumpy , Will not be returning , The place was almost empty and it’s easy to see why , Grim !

Visited here 22.10.23 with my partner. We have regularly visited before and had a nice experience, even on Christmas day! Well I'm not sure what has changed but yesterday was really poor. I made a resteraunt booking and arrived 5/10 mins early. It took a few minutes to even be acknowledged and then the server went to another party behind me in the que to seat first which was bizarre. Then when I was acknowledged I was told my table had been given to someone else as I was already shown as checked in. No apology just very matter of fact there was no table for us and we would have to find somewhere at the bar. Not the best start. Then we went round to the carvery. The que was ridiculous at around 25 minutes. Again no warning of this when we arrived. Finally got to the carvery itself and what a disappointment... no Yorkshire puddings! At the "home of the yorkshires" told it would be a 20 min wait and to ask a waitress to bring us one when they were done.as well as this stuffing was cold and rock solid, mash was cold,beef was chewy, potatoes solid, and other than gravy and mint sauce there were absolutely no sauces left. This was at 1720 on a Sunday. Given the rude greeting we recieved and the waiting staff not tending the bar area I didn't see much point in complaining. The other 2/3 tables round us all said the same thing. It was a very disappointing and poor experience and I don't think I would return again.

My Birthday and booked 17 guests for carvery. We all enjoyed it and the pre-booked table was laid out with birthday signs and we had a closed off area just for us. Food was excellent as were the staff

Well we came here around a month ago and I wrote a review which although was quite good I did make a point about the lack of meat which was also so thin you could almost see through it. Manager asked me to call to let them know about it but we went away so didn't do it. Went again last Monday and what a change. Decent amount of meat on plate, plenty of veg and it was all nice and warm. Service was good and to be honest there wasn't anything that wasn't good. Happy to go back again soon which I know we will do. Thank you.

Had the carvery, good range of food and lots of it. Shame gravy was full of onions, as I love gravy, but not keen on onions. Meat - turkey and beef were all cooked beautifully. We had a trainee waitress, who also did brilliantly. The desserts were spot on and really lovely - honeycombed dream sundae and billionaires bar with whipped cream. Ice cream was delicious, and billionaires bar melted in mouth.

We accidentally double booked a table due to confusion with friends. Our fault. When we called the restaurant to rectify the problem it was over complicated by a member of staff. It took an insanely long amount of time to sort it out with her and ended with her telling me “well hopefully your table will be ready for that time. I mean it was supposed to be half an hour later but now it’s half an hour earlier I just don’t know if it will be ready for you by the time you get here”… OK!? We arrive to find it is ready! Great! We are lead by a member of management to our table and it became evident that all the time it had taken to push our tables together hadn’t left enough time to pick up the half a plate of food that was all over the floor around the tables. Oh well.. atleast we can sample the food before we order it. Myself and my husband tried 3 times to smile and let on to our waitress to be blanked by her. Thank goodness, a different waitress approaches our table. Oh dear, she seems to have little people skills too. Recruitment was having a day off. The lady returns to the table with cutlery that was missing from the table, not handling them by the handles but the other side that will be in our mouths. That’s ok.. you’ve only touched about 736 dirty napkins by this time of day, what’s a stomach bug amongst the ailments of a young family. The waitress took our order; it seems she’d be better suited to a Karens diner. Great at her job but she’s in the wrong restaurant. Luckily the food was edible and the bar area was a lovely air conditioned retreat we could visit occasionally to break from the sweltering room we were sat in. There wasn’t too much of a wait for the children’s meals and when it came I was fortunate enough to be given some waitressing experience myself. Stood by the table mid parenting stance the waitress asks “Chicken nuggets?” .. “yes, thank you” I said and instead of putting them on the table she kindly passed them to me to serve instead. “Sausages?” She asked whilst offering the plate of sausages to me.. I felt I’d done enough waitressing for one day, I pointed to my son and said “there please”. We were then brought a portion of piping hot pigs in blankets which were very considerately set down in the baby’s reach. Boy, were we glad to leave that place.

Been a number of times lately and food has been good. This time the food was nice and hot but there was not very much in the way of meat much less than usual. 1 piece of gammon and 1 of turkey both cut thinner than I could do if I tried. Rest of the meal was really good and service was good.

A very good Sunday lunch with ample food served by friendly staff but visit marred by the awful smell of damp in the area where we were seated. It stank and put us off our food. The salt was unusable on every table due to it literally being wet. I did ask to be moved but was told there was nowhere else available. Judging by the empty tables whilst we were there, this simply was not true. It was explained to me that that particular seating area is only open on the weekends hence the dampness but this just isn’t good enough. Get the room dry and smelling fresh or don’t do so many covers.

Outstanding service and food. Lots of parking. Easy access. Friendly staff. All in all, a lovely experience and very recommended.

Been here so many times usually it's very good, the last couple of times most recently there has not been any real ales or bottled ales, just lager or Guinness, we must of been unlucky with our timing as the meal wasn't that good, the veg was mostly gone, a lot missing. No cauliflower cheese or carrots, it's been a lot better in the past but the waitress was pleasant, will try the Toby in middlemoor for future carvery

Popped in as we was passing and really fancied carvery, staff were pleasant and friendly. Quiet in there, not like a usual busy Toby. Food was lovely and honestly there wasn't anything we could of faulted. Service was quick and would return again.

Absolutely amazing meal! The staff who were on shift today were fantastic, so much so our children wanted to tell them how much they had enjoyed their service before we left. Nothing was to much and they went the extra mile through out our visit. I would definitely recommend and your staff should know how much their service made our visit exceptional!
