We stopped for dinner, tempted by the home cooked food signs, we thought we were in for a treat. Beef bourguignon priced at 15.95 and spaghetti bol at 12.95 and a side of chips for my son. The food was longlife ready meals and tasted awful. The only thing cooked were the chips which seem to be old chips refried and were unedible. By far the worst meal I have ever had and left feeling conned by all the home cooking promises.

Despicable food I had the liver and it was grey ,grainy and congealed the mash was cold but the veg was ok. My husband had the garlic chicken which was coated in raw garlic When I complained I was told it was one of their best sellers !! The man was rude to an extent that was unacceptable and I had to walk away. Just do not go there

(Family of 4, Friday 25th august 2023) Arrived at 11.50am and saw that it opens at midday so didn’t mind waiting in the front garden for 15 minutes. A lady went past us just before noon and entered through the back doors so we knew that someone from inside knew that we were there. However, at 12.10pm there was no sign of the doors opening. I phoned at 12.15 but there was no reply. At 12.20 we returned to the rear car park where you can also find overgrown stinging nettles , a dumped vehicle and a falling down shed. Whilst driving out we saw a DPD delivery driver making a delivery but no sign of anyone opening the doors. Another car (2 occupants) had also decided to leave as they weren’t prepared to wait either. We drove to Exmouth where we spent £30 having delicious cream teas , cakes etc. (Bumble Bee tea room is 5 mins walk from exmouth beach and well worth a visit).

We were staying at Haven, and this little gem caught our eye and I'm so glad it did. Very cute cottage style pub. Relaxed and very welcoming atmosphere. First visit was my partner and me (date night) 🩷 My partners liver and oinion were pit of this world, cooked to perfection. It was so good we went back again with the family and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. Food was absolutely delicious and couldn't argue with the prices. We will definitely be going there next time in the area 🍻⛱️🙂

We came down from London to Devon for 1 week and this was by far the best thing we had done. We were talking to the lovely owners Steve and Kerry and we must have been talking for 2 hours, the service was quick, the scones with the cream and jam was absolutely beautiful, we then had a roast dinner in which the beef was tender, potatoes seasoned and crispy and the vegetables just as nice along with the Yorkshires which were beautiful. If you want either a pub or to get some good British lunch then definitely come here, the atmosphere was something else, they were very welcoming. This is definitely the best pub I’ve been to.

Really looking forward to cream teas and this place looked perfect. We entered the small dining room and waited. After about 5 minutes and man came out and said no dogs allowed. I tried to ask if someone would come out to us outside and take our order and he cut me off and told me again, no dogs allowed and get out!! There were no signs anywhere about dogs not being allowed and completely understand that this their business and decision but what is no acceptable is the rudeness and the very unpleasant way he spoke to me if front of my 2 young children.

OK so I can't avoid the fact the dining room is snug. But the food far from made up for that fact. It could do with a sprucing up to bring it in to the 21st century. But dining and food wise we had a lovely meal..would go back, and its worth giving a chance. As it's one of the more tucked away places..it may get over looked But lovely roast!

Pictured are 2 specials from the board of the day - 'beef bourguignon' and I think it was 'chicken stroganoff'. Both home made and a bit on the peppery side - I think the beef was best. Very enjoyable meal although others in our party didn't like the pepper too much. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, but I would recommend parking in the street outside as the car park could get a bit cramped. You'd probably best book too!

Started off by owner telling us what wasn't available, then it was only his wife in the kitchen and he couldn't get staff! I ordered the pasta which was hot on top cold at the bottom., microwave didn't reach that bit. My husband had cottage pie which tasted like mince beef from a tin. The fish tank hadn't been cleaned in months and that should've given me a clue. I would not go back again and it did taint my holiday.

Went the other night with my family. Owners opening gambit was to say how he could not get any staff and then to tell my wife that a ploughman's she said she might like was unavailable. No worries we thought and took a table. Bad mistake. A waitress took our orders. On asking for lime and soda we were informed they had no soda water. My son asked for diet pepsi only to be told that they did not have any even when we could all see that very coke in the fridge by the bar. The food. They say home cooked food. For sure I would say its warmed up on site. Cooked?? I had the shepherds's pie. It came with mince spread across the plate with some sort of square cheese topping laid in the middle. The square cheese topping to me was from frozen. The mince tasted like it was from a tin as were the peas. The chips, oven chips. My wife and daughter in law each had a chicken and pasta dish. These were served up hot on top and stone cold on the bottom. As for taste, judging by how much they left, not good. My son was also deeply underwhelmed with chicken skewers and left most of them on the plate. I do not often post reviews on here especially if I have nothing good to say. However this time I have to say do not bother. We went after passing it on the way to spend some time at the Haven caravan park close by. I only wished we also passed it on our way out.

We ordered our food which is home cooked , my dad and myself had liver and veg and mash and my husband had beef Bourguignon, the liver was delicious tasty and hot and my husband said it was the best beef bourguignon he had tasted and all meals plentiful, eating it in lovely surroundings and being looked after by the lovely couple that owned it. Table of 6 plus toddler. Went to order drinks, only Carlsberg on tap the other 2 had nothing on them. Asked for a shandy, tried a bit, asked for a bit more lemonade but had ran out! Starter was nice and toddler ate fish, mash and beans. At first was told that we couldn’t have mash instead of chips for a 1 year old as wasn’t on the menu but finally agreed to do it. Curry tasted as if the sauce was from a jar, scampi was overcooked, onion rings came out cold so sent back… they reheated them in the fryer and brought the same ones back out. Could only have child size spag bol, why not put 2 portions together to make an adult meal. Had a hair in my mash! Waited an extra 10 minutes for final meal to come out even though it was the same as one of the other ones that had already come out, would’ve been nice to all eat together! Mentioned to older guy about the wait, no apologies no nothing. Stopped serving food by 8pm as had ran out of most things. Would definitely not recommend to anyone!

Cigarettes and cat wee is the only way to describe it. Ordered the burger and lets just say id rather go to maccies. £40 for a peice of rubber between 2 soggy buns.... jokers. The one bloke didnt even know what a cottage pie was... he served it... the coleslaw was a runny mess on my plate... looked like the toilet 20 mins after eatinh your food... i could go on but cant bothered.... dont go.... end of.

Do not go. Looks beautiful but smell, food and customer service is absolutely terrible and is way overpriced. Inside the cottage is dark and smells awful, a rustlers microwave burger is leagues better than what they served us, the gentleman behind the bar was very rude and abrupt. Wish we had walked away before ordering but lesson learned. While eating our food the gentleman behind the bar came outside to smoke a cigarette and proceeded to walk into the kitchen while smoking and then came back outside to stub it out. The chef also came out of the kitchen to stroke a cat and then re-entered the kitchen, god knows if she washed her hands after (highly doubt it judging by everything else). Disgusting. £40 for two burgers that were practically car tyres slapped between two soggy buns, the coleslaw was clearly sloppy seconds and the pickle they put on the side of the plate looked like a big slug they had picked up off the floor and smelled like it had been dipped in fairy liquid. My brother and his partner also ordered food which wasn’t far off £40, the cottage pie was a salty cottage soup and the chicken skewers were like cardboard. Such a shame as this could be a lovely place but was a complete let down. If I could rate this less than a 1 star I would. Never again.

The service was awful, the owner was very grumpy and the staff didn’t know what they were serving us. When the food arrived it look like it was slapped on a plate and the coleslaw had clearly been left out for a while as it had spread on the plate. We visited Tythe Cottage today as we wanted to enjoy a traditional Devon cream tea in the sun while on holiday at Devon Cliffs. Sadly both the service and the food quality wasn’t the best, no complaints but we left feeling a little disappointed, especially as the location and ambience is really nice. The cake wasn’t great, tasteless plain scones (my 10 year old daughter bakes nicer) and the sandwich fillings were very average using cheap ingredients. Due to COVID everything is served in polystyrene takeaway boxes (which is ok if I had ordered a takeaway) so an afternoon tea served in a kebab box isn’t quite the same and definitely not inviting! The garden and location is lovely though, so a nice 15 min walk from Devon Cliffs if you fancy a change.

the place is really pretty, really fits the cottage-core aesthetic however the food was more pub style and obviously microwaved. was warm when served and was alright. overall not bad, would reccomened more for tea/scones

Tried calling to place an order for a takeaway but no answer, tried the website on the menu but not in use, visited another day but closed even though within the hours on the leaflet, shame as last year was excellent

Enjoyed a couple of beers in the beer garden on this bar/restuarant, on a very hot day whilst visiting the area. A great stop off, I was reluctant to leave.

Lovely eat in and takeaway. Family breakfast for a family of 5. Great service, even had a lovely warm bowl of bread pudding 😁 as a taster. Great value. Will definitely visit again when we're in Exmouth

This was our first visit to Lyme Regis and after having a little look around we were all getting a little hungry so we decided to stop off at Jane's Cafe on the parade. There were five of us and we all shared two boxes of cheesy chips together, I can't comment on the drinks that the others had but the cheesy chips were very nice. Good position sizes although could have been a little bigger but the chips were nice and there was plenty of grated cheese on top - I expect it would have been even better if it was melted slightly! There were plenty of places to sit and eat with nice views over the beach. The only negative comment from a family member was that the staff were a little slow serving the drinks but the food was ready pretty quickly and it was hot which was the main thing! A good little place to stop for a quick drink and something to eat.....

Breakfast was certainly an interesting experience. The incredibly friendly staff certainly had their own unique system of handling groups of over 4 people so you can imagine their delight when we arrived with a group of 20. Potential customers should be aware that you categorically must not order for yourself but through a middle party instead. If you try to order your own food or drink I suggest you speak to the responsible person in your party for them to relay your order to the very lovely rosey cheeked attendant at the till. In my case our responsible person was only 3 foot away from me but we made sure to follow the rules as to not cause an eruption of chaos in the kitchen. When I received my apple juice, I really admired its antique look. The sediment at the bottom and the out of date use by label really added to the chic worn vibe that this hip establishment embellishes by the bucket load. The cleaner is obviously very lucky and has had a long holiday, (possibly to another farm shop the costa del Sol). I say this as the building has acquired an impressive collection of cobwebs in their absence. Now the main event BREAKFAST!!! Everyone likes to start their day with a hearty meal, I feel the two members of staff whole heartedly agreed with me as they left a few extras in some of our food to make sure we didn’t go hungry. One fantastic long black hair that I’m sure is packed full of protein (looked like a moustache hair, but I’m not a barber). One no longer buzzing fly that gave my crispy bacon that extra crunch. I also stayed hydrated through the water that was served to me from a designer tea pot that had amazing tea colouring and stains within in. Once I had consumed my meal I made sure to use the toilet facilities to rid my ablutions apart from the skid marks and the mixtures of cobwebs and urine the toilets were delightful. In all it was an unforgettable magical experience. Shamefully I am stuggling to give it 5 stars and there was a small chip in the plate my breakfast was served on. 4 stars.

This is a great store & café based on the outskirts of Ottery St Mary right next to the garden centre. The shop has lots of healthy options and local food, drink and crafts. There is good supply of fresh fruit & Veg, cheese, local eggs and a great selection of cakes & bread baked within store. After a god shop or look around head into the café for coffee & cake, sandwiches & their own quiches, they even do chips now! If visiting the garden centre or passing by on the A30 take a detour you will not be disappointed. Good food, good choice and great staff. We love it!
