Amazing Inn to visit. We prebooked a table online and our table was ready with a reserved sign. We were made to feel welcomed from the outset. Lovely clean surroundings. Warm and inviting. Tasteful Christmas decorations and a real log fire added to the atmosphere. Food and service were worthy of a 10/10 score. Food was really tasty. Presented well and such good value. We were asked if everything was okay with our meal, by staff who presented happy in their work (too often these days staff don't make any effort, present happy or welcoming). The Anchor is part of the Greene King group. We visit the area at least.2 to 3 times a year and every time our experience at The Anchor is the same - excellent! We like it that The Anchor is dog friendly.and in a lovely position by the beach. Also next to a car park, if you can't get 2 hour free high street parking spot. Nice garden (used in the summer) just across the road and with amazing views. Beer is a lovely hamlet to visit all year round. Next time we're in the area we.plan to book overnight stay/s as rooms look really nice, from the hotels website.

On a cold December afternoon we wandered inside looking for warmth and sustenance, the Anchor was welcoming and really toasty inside for myself, partner and two small dogs. A good selection of beers coupled with a wondrous menu confirmed our choice and we enjoyed hearty meals of Katsu Chicken 5* and Mac & Cheese 4* followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ice Cream to share for dessert. The dogs had water bowls and were given a biscuit each by the super-friendly staff and we went on our way after an hour or so warmed up and sated. Great pub, great choice of food, lovely staff - good job all around :)

Although its location is great, the staff did not come over and set the table, they did not ask if we wanted any condiments and the worst of all I payed £18.99 for some microwaved beef that I could have brought from Tesco as a micro meal (Would have been 100% better) Thanks you, though. Ordered on a table of 4. 3 orders fine however, asking for a burger without cheese and mushrooms proved difficult for the staff to understand here. The meal had to be returned twice due to making the burger plain and forgetting the side sauce. The burger arrived with lettuce and mayo added. I gave up at this point. The burger should've had tomato and rocket added to it as well as the side sauce however, the waiting staff seemed not to understand this at all. The location is wonderful and the meals provided to others looked and tasted good however, they struggle to accommodate even the smallest of changes to a meal

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding a recent dining experience at the Anchor Inn which I did not enjoyed with my family. I ordered the king prawn risotto, and unfortunately, I found the rice to be undercooked. After noticing this, I brought it to the attention of two different staff members who checked on us during our meal. Regrettably, despite my feedback, no action was taken to address the issue or to ensure my meal was satisfactory. Additionally, I did not receive a receipt for my order, which I find concerning. Clear record-keeping is essential for both the establishment and the customer, especially when there are issues with the service or food quality. Given the lack of response from the staff regarding my concerns, I believe that all customers deserve prompt attention to their feedback, especially regarding food quality. As a suggestion, Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the Anchor Inn, as there are other dining options available in Beer that my family and I are now more inclined to explore in the future.

Lovely location overlooking the bay in Beer, shame the rest doesn't quite live up to the same wow factor. Pub a little tired and definitely in need of a deep clean, however we were eating outside in the pub garden so not really an issue for us. Busy late afternoon / early dinner, so tables were pretty full outside. However we only had to wait a few minutes for one to be free. They've clearly spent some money on the garden, but it's annoying that so many of the tables are on a slope when it would have been simple to level the different sections to make it easier for customers dining or enjoying drinks at the tables. Anyway having chosen our food, we went to order at the bar and OMG were they slow to take orders. Staff really need training on speedy service as the queue was over 20 minutes long with some giving up and going elsewhere. Not all the food was available which was disappointing, and when dishes were partially available no alternatives were offered (eg a salad instead of garlic bread) or reductions in price. When asking about this the staff just said a flat NO! Great customer service! Some of the prices were also a little steep, being charged over £5 for one blackcurrant and soda! Queried this but was told it was correct, which makes it more expensive that London prices for this drink. Sauce bottles outside were greasy and sticky, clearly not cleaned regularly Food was average when it arrived, rather than great. Therefore wouldn't recommend or return which is a shame as it SHOULD be fantastic!

After a Sunday stroll through Sidmouth we decided to visit the Blue Ball for lunch, lovely country style pub, we were seated and our order was taken ... I had the Korean burger which was tasty but the burger is on the small side with a equally small bowl (ramekin) of chips, my wife had mushroom veggie pie which she enjoyed and my mate had the pork roast .. small niggle they both said the vegetables and potatoes had been kept warm for a bit to long ... His wife had the schnitzel which she liked. I can appreciate that there not going throw out veg but maybe replenish it a bit more often, I had the crumble for desert.bit disappointing the crumble was quite claggy..I'm guessing it's not made in the premises. I mean this review in constructive way.

Had Posh Nosh buffet at a wedding I attended and it was excellent. Plenty of food served buffest style for a more relaxed wedding meal. Food was very fresh with local ingredients and suited every dietary requirement and preference. canapé's before were excellent as well and served very elegantly. the leftovers were also brought out later on in the evening to avoid food waste and provided a good evening snack. cooked fresh on the premise as well with the team working hard throughout the whole day. Highly recommend (can only speak as a guest though).

Breakfast was certainly an interesting experience. The incredibly friendly staff certainly had their own unique system of handling groups of over 4 people so you can imagine their delight when we arrived with a group of 20. Potential customers should be aware that you categorically must not order for yourself but through a middle party instead. If you try to order your own food or drink I suggest you speak to the responsible person in your party for them to relay your order to the very lovely rosey cheeked attendant at the till. In my case our responsible person was only 3 foot away from me but we made sure to follow the rules as to not cause an eruption of chaos in the kitchen. When I received my apple juice, I really admired its antique look. The sediment at the bottom and the out of date use by label really added to the chic worn vibe that this hip establishment embellishes by the bucket load. The cleaner is obviously very lucky and has had a long holiday, (possibly to another farm shop the costa del Sol). I say this as the building has acquired an impressive collection of cobwebs in their absence. Now the main event BREAKFAST!!! Everyone likes to start their day with a hearty meal, I feel the two members of staff whole heartedly agreed with me as they left a few extras in some of our food to make sure we didn’t go hungry. One fantastic long black hair that I’m sure is packed full of protein (looked like a moustache hair, but I’m not a barber). One no longer buzzing fly that gave my crispy bacon that extra crunch. I also stayed hydrated through the water that was served to me from a designer tea pot that had amazing tea colouring and stains within in. Once I had consumed my meal I made sure to use the toilet facilities to rid my ablutions apart from the skid marks and the mixtures of cobwebs and urine the toilets were delightful. In all it was an unforgettable magical experience. Shamefully I am stuggling to give it 5 stars and there was a small chip in the plate my breakfast was served on. 4 stars.
