My husband and I stopped at The Anchor Inn for a drink and something to eat with our dog Winnie. We were immediately met with the lovey Helen who offered us a warm welcome and chatted to us about the area as we were visiting for a few days. Our food arrived very quickly which was delicious and Helen even won over our nervous pooch with doggy treats.

We attended the anchor inn for one of their roasts which was amazing. Pippa and Kendal are a credit to the Anchor inn and Management should be proud of their staff. They worked hard and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back next Sunday for another one. The chef needs to be patted on the back. His gravy is lovely just like my Grandmother use to make. The portions are large even the kids portions are pretty big. My partner even had a pudding which looked lovely but we were too full.. WELL DONE TEAM.

Ordered on a table of 4. 3 orders fine however, asking for a burger without cheese and mushrooms proved difficult for the staff to understand here. The meal had to be returned twice due to making the burger plain and forgetting the side sauce. The burger arrived with lettuce and mayo added. I gave up at this point. The burger should've had tomato and rocket added to it as well as the side sauce however, the waiting staff seemed not to understand this at all. The location is wonderful and the meals provided to others looked and tasted good however, they struggle to accommodate even the smallest of changes to a meal

Friendly staff, clean and with an eating area away from the bar. Great location with sea views. Some items on the menu a little disappointing. Freshly cooked chips and sides but the main, Hunters Chicken left something to be desired..microwaved..and not terribly hot. Other members of my party were satisfied though. However, nice spot in a pretty fishing village..no parking available though so luggage needs to be carried from the public car park.

After completing a somewhat gruelling walk along the coastal pathway from Beer (and yes, we did the undercliff route 😀) I took my girlfriend into this wonderful pub that I last visited many years ago. We were greeted by really friendly barstaff, and i enjoyed the most amazing pint of Palmers Dorset Gold, followed by a fabulous IPA. My girlfriend enjoyed a large glass of New Zealand Sauvignon blanc. Our only mistake was not eating here. We're both really looking forward to a return trip.

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding a recent dining experience at the Anchor Inn which I did not enjoyed with my family. I ordered the king prawn risotto, and unfortunately, I found the rice to be undercooked. After noticing this, I brought it to the attention of two different staff members who checked on us during our meal. Regrettably, despite my feedback, no action was taken to address the issue or to ensure my meal was satisfactory. Additionally, I did not receive a receipt for my order, which I find concerning. Clear record-keeping is essential for both the establishment and the customer, especially when there are issues with the service or food quality. Given the lack of response from the staff regarding my concerns, I believe that all customers deserve prompt attention to their feedback, especially regarding food quality. As a suggestion, Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the Anchor Inn, as there are other dining options available in Beer that my family and I are now more inclined to explore in the future.

Ordered 2 medium steaks, served as very rare (lots of blood) sent back and same steaks came back 5 minutes later with no change. Sent back again and after long wait and complaining new steaks arrived and this stime they were very overcooked - looks like the microwave came in handy. Gave up and left hungry and very disappointed. Also my wife who did not order steak had to eat her dinner alone. Considering this was recommended to us it is very disappointing as staff did not know how to deal with this situation

Lovely location overlooking the bay in Beer, shame the rest doesn't quite live up to the same wow factor. Pub a little tired and definitely in need of a deep clean, however we were eating outside in the pub garden so not really an issue for us. Busy late afternoon / early dinner, so tables were pretty full outside. However we only had to wait a few minutes for one to be free. They've clearly spent some money on the garden, but it's annoying that so many of the tables are on a slope when it would have been simple to level the different sections to make it easier for customers dining or enjoying drinks at the tables. Anyway having chosen our food, we went to order at the bar and OMG were they slow to take orders. Staff really need training on speedy service as the queue was over 20 minutes long with some giving up and going elsewhere. Not all the food was available which was disappointing, and when dishes were partially available no alternatives were offered (eg a salad instead of garlic bread) or reductions in price. When asking about this the staff just said a flat NO! Great customer service! Some of the prices were also a little steep, being charged over £5 for one blackcurrant and soda! Queried this but was told it was correct, which makes it more expensive that London prices for this drink. Sauce bottles outside were greasy and sticky, clearly not cleaned regularly Food was average when it arrived, rather than great. Therefore wouldn't recommend or return which is a shame as it SHOULD be fantastic!

It’s a bright and zoned environment with lots of different types of inside and outside seating, all with lovely views of the town and sea. The food is also to a very good standard e.g. a lightly dressed salad was just that, and the croutons had lightly crispy coats and soft insides - perfect. These are the some of the reasons we have come day-after-day; additionally, it’s in the heart of glorious Devon.

I did a review a few weeks ago when I was actually there... So this is partially a shortened update to that review. Staff are really friendly and the food is great. For the area it's in. It is mind price level. And there are both snacks/bar menu type and larger meals. Be cautious if you're eating outside on a cold gate. But eating outside is the way to go when the sun is shining because the view is spectacular. The location is spectacular. The village is spectacular. I definitely go back. Beer is a lovely little village located Between Seaton and Branscombe . It's definitely the sort of place that if you were to be fortunate enough to afford, then you would choose Beer over some of the other locations along the coast of devon And the anchor in would definitely feature as a local haunt, for me at least anyway. The pub is slightly raised off the beach. But that actually makes the seating area outside sfford you great views ! I did not stay at the hotel accommodation. However, I can only imagine. It's also well managed and of good quality But most importantly for me It's dog friendly.

This is a great store & café based on the outskirts of Ottery St Mary right next to the garden centre. The shop has lots of healthy options and local food, drink and crafts. There is good supply of fresh fruit & Veg, cheese, local eggs and a great selection of cakes & bread baked within store. After a god shop or look around head into the café for coffee & cake, sandwiches & their own quiches, they even do chips now! If visiting the garden centre or passing by on the A30 take a detour you will not be disappointed. Good food, good choice and great staff. We love it!

This was our first visit to Lyme Regis and after having a little look around we were all getting a little hungry so we decided to stop off at Jane's Cafe on the parade. There were five of us and we all shared two boxes of cheesy chips together, I can't comment on the drinks that the others had but the cheesy chips were very nice. Good position sizes although could have been a little bigger but the chips were nice and there was plenty of grated cheese on top - I expect it would have been even better if it was melted slightly! There were plenty of places to sit and eat with nice views over the beach. The only negative comment from a family member was that the staff were a little slow serving the drinks but the food was ready pretty quickly and it was hot which was the main thing! A good little place to stop for a quick drink and something to eat.....

Had Posh Nosh buffet at a wedding I attended and it was excellent. Plenty of food served buffest style for a more relaxed wedding meal. Food was very fresh with local ingredients and suited every dietary requirement and preference. canapé's before were excellent as well and served very elegantly. the leftovers were also brought out later on in the evening to avoid food waste and provided a good evening snack. cooked fresh on the premise as well with the team working hard throughout the whole day. Highly recommend (can only speak as a guest though).
