Yuck. The chips are not proper chip shop chips. They are overdone crispy cheap oven chips. The fish was ok. My son ordered chicken nuggets, frozen nobbly chicken balls. Really groce. So over priced.

Bought six portions of Fish and Chips for the family, and ate on the beach. All cooked to order and great quality. The portions were almost excessively large, and perhaps they should make them 20% cheaper and drop the price a bit. Overall a lovely takeaway

We got a take away from here after arriving in Sidmouth because they do skin off Cod. Whilst the fish was ok the chips seemed to have been reheated so not perfect in our opinion. The prices also seemed a bit steep. Will try somewhere else next time.

Love the amazing haddock and chips from here although this time there is a charge for ketchup so I just would take mine before going, because I love ketchup other than that amazing staff. Abit slow as I felt the lovely lady was the only one who was taking orders and also delivering dishes to the table so needed to wait for her to come downstairs but still worth the expense.

Unfortunately we walked passed and liked the look of it. Wish we had of read the reviews. Nearly £30 pounds later we received boxes of disappointment. Clearly frozen food and not even good quality frozen food. Chips reminded me of oven chips from Aldi as did the chicken. Cheap quality condiments as well.

Wanted to get some chips as the kids were hungry and so was I. Made the mistake of just looking up chip shops as we were there for the day but not reading the reviews. Huge mistake. Cheesy chips £6.95 which is very expensive and large chips £5.95. I can only presume that because they are on the front most people make the same mistake as me and go in there first. When they came out I realised they are frying Aldi's specially selected chunky chips. We eat these at home but you prob only want 10 on a plate as basically they are like eating roast potatoes eg you wouldnt want to eat a bags worth. Add to that small cod and chips (which my wife did say was decent but they probably actually cooked that) and 4 cokes and that was £38 which is ridiculous. I would walk away but we were already there and the kids were starving. The chips were dreadful to be honest and just deep fried frozen which is not what you really want from a 'proper' chip shops. Shop looks nice but in all honesty its overpriced and crap. Free red but they dont even bother hiding that its from farm foods or similar (huge bottles) Me and both kids threw at least have the chips in the bin. Wife eat fish and binned her chips too. Go a few doors up and its much better places and I suspect prices too. Really wish we had!

The shop is in a prime site right next to the seafront but if you take a one minute walk further into town you'll find much, much better quality and reasonable prices at the Fish Market (if serving take-away) located in Old Fore St or The White Horse Cafe (take-away or eat-in) on High Street.

When in Sidmouth, we usually pop in here. Right next to the esplanade, lovely setting. I had cod and chips to take away. The chips were slightly crispy to the bite and dry.....perfect. A lovely piece of cod in dry crispy batter, lovely. Some chippies give you a MASSIVE piece of fish and a bucket of chips as a soggy lump that all sticks together. Prospect stands out in that you get well cooked food not dropping in oil. They also do gluten-free if you ask.

Not really a traditional fish and chip shop. Can be high cost like most coastal restaurants. Takeaway or eat in. Eat has a premium like most restaurants. Chips seemed to be more like oven chips than chip shop chips. However, they served large and piping hot and very tasty mush peas, although £2 a pot. A pot really is enough for 2 people so would suggest sharing a pot between 2 would suffice and saves a bit of money. We had the childrens fish and chips and as we do not have big appetites. The portion size was adequate. Both our children wanted chicken nuggets so we opted for the adult portion that had 10 nuggets for £1 more than the childrens 5 nuggets option and with the adult portion of chips there was more than enough to share especially when they had 12 nuggets. If you are a bit savvy you can keep the price down if needed. Good quality, hot food. If you want traditional fish and chips there is a proper chippy just round the corner.

The WORST chips we’ve ever eaten! These were not Chip shop chips but instead were frozen over cooked oven chips that were so incredibly dry it didn’t matter how much vinegar you put on them. They had no flavour as they clearly hadn’t been cooked in any oil or cooked using a proper chip shop fryer. They were extremely overpriced at £5 for a regular portion and £6 for a large portion and yet the price your paying didn’t reflect the quality. If you wanted cheese on your chips it was an extra £2 on top. Service wasn’t particularly great either, we waited quite a while when it wasn’t even very busy for some over cooked oven chips. Extremely disappointed and I wouldn’t waste your money here as by looking through the other reviews they all seem to be saying the same thing. Unless you start to produce quality chip shop chips as they are advertised, I don’t think you’ll have many returning customers.

I recently visited a fish and chip shop in Sidmouth, South Devon, and was thoroughly disappointed. The chips tasted like they were frozen and deep-fried, resembling shop-bought quality rather than freshly made. They were so bad we left 4 portions of chips. The fish was also subpar, lacking the fresh taste you’d expect from a seaside town. To top it off, the meal was incredibly overpriced at £47. I expected much better for that price. My wife and I ordered haddock and chips, mushy peas and 2 teas. The haddock was the best we've had on this holiday - really thick, white and obviously fresh fish (with no skin - brilliant!) in a nice thin batter. The price included an eat in charge, which we took as it was a cold day outside. But the seating downstairs was quite crampt and upstairs was dark and tired looking (we chose to sit downstairs as better views). The chips were oven chips and portion sizes small. If wanting fish and chips I suggest others try the places further in to town as better value, and then enjoy the sea views on a walk later, which I think is what you pay for here! The chips instead of being delicious chip shop chips were simply cheap frozen chips that you buy in your local Tesco. My youngest had a kids sausage a chips meal which was nearly £8. For this she got a jumbo sausage and a literal handful of chips. Even the drinks were expensive. A 500ml bottle of Diet Coke was nearly £3! Service was slow, slow to order and slow to receive my food. Some bickering between staff.

Consistently disappointing fish and chips. Bought from here on a few occasions just because it's the only one on the seafront. It's never been great and is expensive.

Absolutely awful. If you're looking for traditional fish and chips, then look somewhere else. The chips are just frozen ones deep fried, and to make things worse, deep fried in dirty oil that leaves black bits on them. The fish isn't much better with soggy batter. The food we had was bad enough, but to make things worse, when we got back to our caravan, one of the meals we had ordered was missing. Multiple phone calls went unanswered. £34.85 for two portions of fish and chips with peas & curry make it one of the worst value meals ever. I'm not sure where any of the positive reviews on here have come from, but I'd be highly sceptical of them. Avoid!!

Lovely eat in and takeaway. Family breakfast for a family of 5. Great service, even had a lovely warm bowl of bread pudding 😁 as a taster. Great value. Will definitely visit again when we're in Exmouth

The only good thing about this place is the parking, because no one is ever there. Poor service, poor food, poor attitude. Would never recommend!

This is a great store & café based on the outskirts of Ottery St Mary right next to the garden centre. The shop has lots of healthy options and local food, drink and crafts. There is good supply of fresh fruit & Veg, cheese, local eggs and a great selection of cakes & bread baked within store. After a god shop or look around head into the café for coffee & cake, sandwiches & their own quiches, they even do chips now! If visiting the garden centre or passing by on the A30 take a detour you will not be disappointed. Good food, good choice and great staff. We love it!
