Stag and Hounds in North Somerset

On the way to the airport, the building itself looked nice but this didn’t extend to the interior which is tatty and tired. The menu is fairly sparse and uninspiring. The place felt like it could do with a really good clean. Wife had a veggie burger which was OK but my fish (F&C) was overcooked and dry, same with the batter, cold mushy peas. Nobody checked back to ensure our food was as bland as it looked. Slow to clear up ours and others tables. The place did seem to attract some locals who had a great grasp of the local dialect including some inappropriate words that I thought had been left in the 1950s.

Food was ok. We have A taste card and blue light card. Either should have qualified for a discount (according to Marston site). Person serving said no discounts. We paid full price. Totally dishonest.

Lovely staff, great service, just a bit uncomfortable eating as there were groups of guys watching football,being very loud and just not quite the pub it used to be.

Awful and so disappointing, we have not been here for a few years but we used to love this place, but won't be returning! the service was awful, food was barely edible, cold peas, chips seemed like they were days old and just reheated, we ask for a medium rare steak which was burnt! way to expensive for the rubbish we were served.we should have taken notice to the reviews before eating here. Kitchen nightmares comes to mind here. I would not recommend and avoid at all cost

This is such a great place for food and drinks. Staff are really welcoming. Definitely be coming back again. Highly recommend the steak

I (We) have visited this establishment many times in the last ten years or so. I don't normally write reviews but thought this visit merited one! We were greeted by a young lady, very helpful, who informed us that only half of the menu was available. This was due to the fact they had been shut Monday and Tuesday? This was Thursday the 22nd. We did manage to select something that we liked and ordered it. Beef Lasagne for me and Hunters Chicken for the wife. Sitting down at a randomly selected table I noticed bits of food, peanuts and peas underneath. Looking around at the rest of the carpet it was worse than what I have in my shed. When the meal arrived I was astonished at the state and lack of the salad garnish... a few dried, shrivelled, stalky rocket leaves. The other meal wasn't so bad but did have the same measly salad garnish. Needless to say I doubt very much we will be visiting again as there are many good eating establishments within a few miles of this one. I have given 2/5 at a stretch.

The environment is pleasant and clean. Food service quick. Menu usual pub variety that you would expect. Staff are friendly.

Came here wanting a nice drink and food to enjoy the weather with I ordered the tikka masala which was amazing the bar staff were amazing quick and efficient I would recommend coming here if your after a cosy well cooked meal with excellent service

Absolutely vile frozen cheese melts no taste then I had Mac and cheese and that was disgusting straight from the freezer no taste no lovely stringy cheese like it should have been my husband had a burger and the roll was so stale it just fell apart never again

Used to go here a few years ago as a good honest pub food venue. What a shame how it is now. Drinks were fine, but the wait for food is way too long and the staff seem to lack any awareness of what is going on around them. Starters were tiny and poor. Staff chatting and seemed oblivious to need to clear plates and glasses. Waited further 30 mins and asked for mains and was told was being plated up right then, which was a lie as waited another 15 mins then only two of three meals arrived. Staff surprised when I asked 10 mins later when my main would arrive. I actually don't blame individual staff as think responsibility lies with company to employ a manager and give a bit of organisation and training. Food was OK when it arrived. Not going again.

Should have walked out when it took them 20 minutes to spot us waiting at the bar. We ordered a starter and main. My husband ordered a prawn cocktail which was tiny, like the size of the salt pot and no bread with it. The mains arrived an hour later. Ridiculous as there was no one else in there. No apologies for their slow service either.

Visited stag and hounds this evening we were a party of 18 the food was amazing the staff also amazing and nothing to much trouble will be going back again very soon 5 star experience

We went for lunch on friday 16th Feb, seemed nice enough... ordered food at the bar, was told the kitchen was backed up and it would be about 30 mins for food.. ok, fair enough, even though the place was half empty.. we ordered and waited patiently for 30 mins.. then 40 mins...then 50 mins... then 1 hour... then 1hour 10 mins.. and eventually our food arrived. No apology for the delay.. nothing. We ordered a burger and a mixed grill. 1hour 10 mins! The burger was ok, but super sweet, the mixed grill was awful. Burnt sausages, pale, boiled chicken and super salty gammon, a half of a cherry tomatoe and some token mushrooms that had been cooking since Tuesday. No one checked the food was ok.. we ate because we were starving.. then we left.. The 2 tables next to us had ordered before us and were still waiting for food when we left. No one was happy. If the kitchen can't cope with the volume... dont take the order! Avoid.

Popped in for a quick snack and a couple of pints. Was served immediately by Markie. Very friendly and pours an excellent Guinness. Food came out very quickly, will visit again soon!

Had a wonderful time at the local pub! The food was excellent, and kudos to Markie and Luke for being brilliant team members. Don't miss out on the trifle cheesecake—it's a must-try. The fireplace added a cozy touch, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Highly recommended

First of all what a place ! Staff are fantastic, amazing environment. The food is outstanding and beer is always fresh. This pub is great, the atmosphere was good and the food was top quality. When it comes to service you don't get much better than this as our waiter, Sam created good conversation around me and the friends I was with whenever he was near. He accommodated us well and will definitely revisit.

Thought we had found a great dog friendly pub but so so disappointed. Today couldn’t get coffee or tea, machine not working? No kettle??? With a working kitchen? Ladies toilets were disgusting, one had a broken seat on the floor the other had used sanitary towels on the floor as the bin was overflowing! What a shame! We won’t return

Me and my family used to visit this pub quite regularly for a meal and always loved it but had not visited for a few years, decided to visit on 26th Dec and could not believe how downhill this pub has gone, the cleanliness is non existant ( everywhere including the carpet looks dirty) The food used to be nice but is now terrible, we had steak and chips and it was tastless, we asked for the steaks to be well done but one of them was burnt and almost impossible to cut through even with the steak knife provided, we would have asked for a replacement but really just wanted to hurry up and get out of there as we felt so uncomfortable in such dirty surroundings, we used to love it here but would never return now.

Possibly the worst Christmas ⛄ meal I have ever had. Yes I am a chef but I did expect more. Food cold, vegetables in various states of being undercooked or over cooked Cranberry sauce and gravy arrived late and Yorkshire puddings were a joke. Turkey well what can I say.. Atmosphere bad and fire not working so many of our group were cold Shall not be returning or recommending. This is is the second bad meal I have had here and service bad considering that they were not even busy .
