Great place to eat service is super everything is a pleasure to experience We found this little gem tucked away in the town

This is a really nice hotel, the room was very clean . Breakfast was good with options for vegetarian and gluten free. The owner was very helpful . Close to the castle and merlins cave also local pubs and restaurants. We will definitely be going back. I recommend this hotel.

We spent a Monday afternoon in Ilminster. We were looking for homemade soup as the day was very cold. After delicious vegetable soup we ordered cream tea with tea and coffees. This lovely restaurant is to be found close to The Minster.

We could not eat poached eggs for breakfast ... advised hostess why we left most ! Ordered scrambled next day which were OK!

We visited on a rainy cold day in June! We definitely needed hot drinks & snacks when we arrived, all delicious & well priced, definitely recommend.

Nice beer garden. I didn't rate the inside much. It's a classic locals were the regulars prop up the bar so it's annoying trying to get served. There are others places I'd rather spend my time though if you're looking for "an everybody knows your name" place then this might suit you.

Visited for lunch on 5th February. Service provided by DAISY was outstanding - very polite, professional and helpful in equal measure. There were a couple of issues with the food but they were quickly resolved by the kitchen team and Daisy. Lovely lunch. Will be visiting again.

Food was nice enough but what was outstanding was the way that older visitors were treated. I observed much kindness, respect and consideration. Help with chairs, coats, preferred seat, preferred view and names were remembered. It really was outstanding.

This is a quintessentially English village pub. My wife and I go there from time to time and would go more often if the food was reliable. The beer (Arkell's 3B) is well presented and delicious; the service good and friendly. It's the unreliable kitchen that so often lets this pub down. On our last visit, the day and regular menus were dominated by fussy, insubstantial choices so we opted for something more traditiional: steak and kidney pie and fish and chips. Unfortunately, when my wife broke into her ramiken sized pie with its thick layer of dense pastry, she discovered a brown slurry with 2 small pieces of meat. I had the same experience a few month's ago with a venison pie. It was quickly exchanged with apologies for a fish and chips. Like mine, the latter looked appetising, with a good sized portion of fresh fish in nice batter. The problem was that the whole meal, chips included, was strangely devoid of any flavour. Moreover, it appeared to have very poor nutritional properties as we were both very hungry again 2 hours later. I saved the day by thawing some roast duck and home made plum sauce that had been in the freezer for 3 years. With freshly cooked rice and broccoli it was delicious and we were still satiated when we retired for the night!

Held an event for 50 people there, and honestly, it couldnt have gone better. The staff were amazing - incredibly helpful. The venue was perfect. Will be returning lots!
