Had a spare hour in Truro this lunchtime so decided to grab a bite to eat. Sun was shining and knew Vertigo had garden seating so decided to try their menu. What a find! Definitely the best tapas we've had outside of Spain. The halloumi and pepper skewers were certainly the tastiest I've had anywhere! My husband had the meatballs and the chorizo and couldn't stop saying how amazing both were. The chef showed great interest and pride in his products which was also nice to see. Friendly staff, a great summer lunchtime venue! Thoroughly recommended.

Booked a table online, a few days in advance, for the Thai food as this looked really appealing. This booking was confirmed by email. Arrived on time and the back of the bar was busy. Many staff were at the front and they all appeared surprised we had booked (we were told no one really books a table, even though this facility is on their website) and they seemed to have no record of our booking. One staff member seemed to find this slightly funny. We were told we could sit in the conservatory and have drinks as food was no longer being served as the chef was "leaving soon anyway". Obviously this was not what we expected and we refused to stay, saying this should have been communicated better. One staff member offered to get the manager but we declined as we were hungry at the time and it wasn't clear what this would solve. It appears, looking at other reviews, that this isn't the first time this has happened either. Received a text a few days late saying we did not show up for the table! This place may be fine for drinks, but avoid if wanting food. Turns out it was a blessing in disguise as we had great tapas food round the corner at Bodega 18.

During a shopping trip around the town the wife and I decided to have a drink. Went to Vertigo and was told we could use a table at the back. We ordered a Heineken and white wine, after trying approx 1/5 of the pint of Heineken I felt it was off and asked the wife to check She agreed it was off so I asked if it could be changed. I was bought another pint and the waitress explained it might taste the same as its the same barrel. It did, so I asked if I could change it for a different beer. The waitress returned without the drink and told me I couldn't have an exchange so I asked for a refund which I was refused, leaving me with no drink at all. On leaving I said to the bar manager how can a business not offer a replacement or refund for goods I have paid for. She then informed me that it was my taste buds was the problem and she wasn't having an argument with me in an aggressive tone. At no time did we want an argument but according to this bar manager it was my fault the beer didn't taste right and everyone else thought it was fine. I had no offer of a refund for the Heineken and the bar manager was overly aggressive in her attitude at which point I left and told her she was a disgrace. I feel that I have been ripped paying for 2 drinks at £10:20 but only having one drink which was the white wine that wife did enjoy. I never had the Heineken offered back to me and I was told that I was at fault for my taste buds being wrong? Obviously we will not be using Vertigo again which will save money anyway as the drinks are over priced.

Booked 3 weeks in advance for the restaurant, Turned up ten minutes before our reservation And told to go away until 7.00, so we walked round the block and came back. They literally asked two ladies to vacate the table for us. We were seated and given a drinks menu. I asked for the food menu to be told meals were no longer being served. What on earth did they think I reserve the table for. Besides the rudeness i asking us to go away for ten minutes and asking people to leave this must be the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Luckily we go a table round the corner with a river view at the local Indian restaurant Katmandu Palace and we had a great evening. But no thanks to ertigo

Food was nice.. Bar staff very nice but bit weird that you have to pay for drinks with front of house then pay for food separately with guy out back.. Have to say mate found you a bit rude as the very moment we finished our meal you came and slapped the bill on the table!!We had only been in there 40 mins and table was booked for a hour and half!! Clearly trying to get us out.. Not impressed as I'd driven 4 and half hours to take my kids for lunch.. Thanks for a very rushed table turn around .. Not!!

Booked ahead to ensure we had an out door table With a heat lamp, got given A nice private corner with cover around 3 sides. It was a could evening but it didn’t matter because of the cozy heat lights, was perfect! Visited with some friends for cocktails and they have a great range of drinks. We arrived a little early so they sat us somewhere while our table was still in use but wasn’t sat there long! All the staff were extremely lovely, drinks did take a little while to be made but the majority were cocktails and they were obviously busy so is understandable. On the next round we ordered 2 drinks each and problem was solved! We all had a lovely evening so thank you so much! Food also smelt and looked amazing so will be back to try some soon!

We saw this being built before lockdown and were interested but then hibernated for x months. We had a take away yesterday. Phoned up and were informed that we could wait outside the premises if we wanted and it would be brought out but went in to collect with mask of course, and had to wait about 10minutes. The menu is limited but the food absolutely excellent. We had friends staying from London who agreed with us that the quality was as good as anywhere. Please local people support this venture in these difficult times. All take away was in cardboard recyclable containers -none of this plastic rubbish -a real bonus.

A group of us went to vertigo’s for our friends birthday, we were placed in a tiny cramped seating area that had not been cleaned ( there was a condom under the table). Disgusting. The staff were extremely rude. Especially a lady with brown hair in black clothes, about mid to late 20’s. They didn’t seem to care about the state of the seating area and were very rude when we mentioned it. A lot of the staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there and we’re very blunt and boring. They wouldn’t have a laugh and kept threatening to kick us out for not distancing when a table next to us had 15 people around it ! None of the staff distanced themselves from us or wore any PPE. The whole place was over priced, the drinks tasted watered down. We ended up leaving and going to the weather spoons over the road where we enjoyed the rest of the night.

We happened on the Vertigo when looking for lunch near Truro's beautiful cathedral. What a happy find! Stepping off the busy, touristy streets into the restaurant's inner court was a pleasant relief and invited on to enjoy the excellent service and food. So we were in vertigo last night for a stag party. Good drinks. Great atmosphere. The views were superb. The only thing to moan about was that the conservatory area might need the drains checking. Shortly before midnight there was a pungent smell in the area which reminded me of a festival portaloo on a summers day. Other than this id recommended vertigo as a place to go.

Pros: Very nice and friendly staff, and lovely decor with an attractive interior, a cute conservatory area and an outdoor area with picnic tables. Food and drink looked appealling and were well-presented.Cons: Food and drink not up to scratch (or the price). My friend and I ordered two different mocktails, for £4 each, and they both tasted exactly the same - just pure lime juice without any variety or sweetness. We also both had a brownie, at £2.50 each, and they tasted dry and plain, like eating stale bread. My friend, who is a big foodie and loves brownies usually, didn't even want to finish hers and left it on the plate. Food and drink a bit of a pity because the bar is very well-presented and they got everything else right.

Decided to try Vertigo again. Sat in the outside area which is done out nicely and nice to sit in especially when the weather is warm. Had the chicken and salad wrap. The wrap was hardly filled, not much chicken at all. Was bland and tasteless. The chips were cold and could have eaten a lot more than what I was severed. Wrote a review for Vertigo last year explaining the dish I had received was not good and had a comment saying that it had not been on their menu and I had obviously got the wrong place as they also had no mirrors in the establishment. I live about a 5 minute walk from Vertigo, I come here all the time and have done for years. The long mirrors are on the walls as you walk through the seating area on your right hand side. Pretty sure I'm more than capable to write a review for the right place. Please improve the food, would definitely love to sit outside and eat with you often. But keep getting let down when myself and my friends visit.

So so disappointed with the food and the cost of it when we went, chips that had been reheated in the frier, charged 9 quid for guacamole and a slither of cheese on three meals - a cost of which was not on the menu as an extra but was sneakily offered without pointing this out. Mocktails that consist of less actual drink than a shot but have half a bucket of ice in them for 4 quid. The tables outside were wet as it had rained but they'd not been wiped even though there appeared to be three members of staff sitting on their backsides out there. They'd wiped their table. When I asked for something to dry one with the chef told me to go get my own off the bar staff even though there were napkins in front of him that would have done the job. Bad experience, the only way I'd set foot in there again is to buy the place and sort it out - it's got great potential and it's been badly run imho

On arrival the dish looked tasty, however was luke warm, almost cold. Lacking in flavour and seasoning. When returned home about an hour after the meal, started to feel very ill. Felt sick for the rest of the day, and had an awful taste of the dish in my mouth for awhile after. The food definitely needs improvement to say the least. Also the decor inside could do with some serious updating, take away those long mirrors and give it a revamp.

We stumbled across the bar by accident, looking for somewhere to eat pre Hall for Cornwall matinee. It looks like any other bar from out front but what enticed us in was the menu. The bar is a collection of rooms, corners, nooks and conservatory with a courtyard garden out back. It was quiet, we were there on a Thursday, but the welcome was warm, and quick. We sat out in the courtyard with blankets on our knees (provided) and ate the most wonderful pea and mint risotto and steak sandwich with fries. Absolutely wonderful and not that expensive either. The young chef even has a herb garden at the back of the garden, how about that for freshness?

We used to regularly visit vertigo so was looking forward to last night however we decided to have some cocktails, this was a mistake, the first round were ok. The second round were horrible. Firstly they had No glasses to put the cocktails in but it wasn't busy. when the helpful female bar tender asked her male counterpart what glasses to put the drinks in he said "who gives a s**t". The cocktails were then made and put into random half pint glasses. To top it all off my Tuscan mule had no ginger beer in it and my friends sling had no grenadine in. So in the end we didn't get what we asked for. Why do cocktails when you don't have enough glasses to put them in, or the correct training for staff or the correct attitude. I have run in a very popular cocktail an Wales and feel that this was nothing but shoddy. The saving grace was the female bartender was embarrassed and kept apologising.

From the outside this bar looked more like a shop-front! Step inside and you find a bar and a DJ on CDJs, we were both surprised! On first impressions, it was a young crowd and gave a bit of a "Brighton, West Street" vibe. But then, as you work your way through the building and out to the rear garden, you find a more eclectic mix of people; ages and dress codes. The rear garden is lovely, very well thought out with lots of seating and a VIP area, plus outdoor bars. The music was played through a decent-enough sound system so we could all enjoy the DJ's choice of tunes. I had my first "Jam Roly Poly" shot; Chambord with milk top and sugar-coated rim.....will be taking that little beauty back home and it might replace my favourite shot "Tuaca"!!My only slight grumble was that it got so busy as the evening drew on that it became uncomfortable. If you were sitting you had crowds of people pressing up against you, drinks and cigarette ash falling on top. If Vertigo could sort that out they'd have a dream bar, one to rival most bar/clubs that we know in Brighton.Lastly, I have to say it was so refreshing to find that the people of Truro are really blooming friendly, punters and bar/waiting staff! We will definitely be back.

We just had my daughters baby shower at vertigo, we had the VIP area outside with patio heaters and bubbly!! We all had the best evening, the staff were amazing as was the food, I cannot thank the staff at vertigo enough for such an enjoyable evening, everything was perfect and would highly recommend this venue to anyone for any occasion, 5 star service, 5 star food and 5 star venue.

Great spot with a lovely outside terrace backing onto the river. DJs playing till late with good young, but local vibe. Went there looking for an after pub drink and ended up staying later for the outside ambience and the decent tunes.

i wish we kept on walking, sad bland food and staff that have zero personality, the only saving grace is the beer garden and even then its not amazing, rather overstuffed with tables so you on top of each other with all the cigarette smoke.

Lovely summer garden venue for families and friends - attended small 21st birthday evening with hot buffet (good value) in reserved area under pagoda. Great chef and good quality food - chicken, various sliders, wraps, nachos, etc. Relaxed and friendly. The venue is a large old house with interesting rooms, overlooked by the cathedral. Garden has conservatory and blankets for cold weather!

I popped into Vertigo for lunch in the beautiful weather today after hearing many good reviews! Beautiful day, the chef was on his own & the garden was packed. Despite this our food arrived in just 30 minutes and I wasn't disappointed! As a pescetarian I enjoyed a falafel wrap with side chips - filling, delicious and great value! Well done Vertigo, I'll be returning for sure.

Popped into Vertigo for lunch today and ordered Cheesy Nacho's.What turned up was definitely the best Nacho's I've ever tasted - they were homemade !!!!!In the past I have only ever had the usual nacho's out of a packet, but these were made at Vertigo and were brilliant.

My first visit to Vertigo and I have decided that I will be returning again and again. I chose the Lamb Kofta Burger and my grandaughter went for the Languine ... Can only be described as awesome !!! Could barely see over the burger from a seated position, presented beautifully and tasted sublime. The Languine was one of the best I have ever tasted ...(luckily she couldn't eat it all). Relaxed ambience, good beer and I was even served the chef himself !! Hope you will soon start offering Breakfasts etc too... The specials menu is the one to go for I reckon, however, it won't matter as I could see the different meals being served and it all looked delicious.....THANK YOU !! ...B.F.R.

This is the best bar in Truro - and has been for quite some years - but now that Danny is firmly established in the garden kitchen it's the place to eat and drink. A simple menu cooked to order is tasty and substantial with everything priced well under a tenner. Mini-burgers (you get two, so plenty for a good lunch), chicken satay (with a real salad and a real dressing) and the One Pot Breads - ie chilli in a hollow loaf, which is enormous ! - are superbly prepared by Danny and if the sun is shining then the recently refurbished garden is the place to take a break from shopping or work...just don't be sure you'll actually get around to going back to work or the shopping.

My first visit to Vertigo last week, very enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere, choice of Alfresco dining or indoor, as the weather was good we chose to eat outside. Choice of cushions and blankets to choose if required, nice touch. Electric heaters were there if needed, the chef put them on for a while, the lights were nice. The chef was cheerful and helpful, recommending his specials of the day, he was very good with the children, an extra nice touch. The food was all cooked outside just near where we were sitting, the chef was chatting to us as he cooked, the food was beautifully presented, and tasted even better, the portions were of good size, I would recommend this place to anyone needing a nice family meal out, where they can relax and enjoy their food alfresco style

My wife and I dropped into Vertigo to try the (fairly) new lunch menu yesterday, and were very very impressed.I had chilli beef in a hollowed out bowl of bread and it was absolutely excellent - and really competitively priced to boot!!The chilli, topped with sour cream and guacamole was nice and spicy and finishing off the meal with eating the bowl, which was by now infused with the juices from the chilli, was 'the icing on the cake', if you can excuse the terrible mixed metaphor! My one complaint is that I was too full to polish off the entire meal.If one adds the experience of sitting in a really nice garden beneath the spires of Truro cathedral with a drink in hand, then things were just about as good as it gets.

Being a local I frequent Vertigo for after work drinks quite often but this was the first time for food and I will definately return. A friend & I had a light lunch of filled potato skins which came with a salad and was more than enough for us - we couldnt believe the whole meal for both of us came to £9!! The presentation looked great, tasted lovely and you could tell the food had been freshly prepared. Staff were friendly - the chef himself brought the meal to the table and checked all was ok. With the sunny spot we'd picked in the garden we could have stayed there all day!

Saturday lunchtime in May. What a refreshing transformation! The 'Al fresco' dining outside has been attractively restyled. Delicious food, friendly efficient service & the sun was shining! Chose a table outside in the garden by the river. The chef asked how spicy I wanted my Thai Green Curry ! Now that's service! Good portions and 'Daily Specials' complements an entertainingly different fixed menu. And the prices were very reasonable. Would recommend without hesitation.

I had the most delicious chicken and bacon burger here! Yummy fresh ingredients and you get more than your money's worth (it was on special today though, not sure of original price.) The chef was very friendly and welcoming and the cocktails also went down a treat :) Definitely will be returning!

I have been visiting Vertigo for years, what a pity it has gone downhill. All of the staff are new and the "chef" at the outside bar was very slow, not very polite and the chicken satay kebabs, which we ordered were tasteless and the satay sauce needed a blood transfusion! It is a great shame that the food and service has gone downhill so much. Until last year they did excellent steak sandwiches and burgers with fries. Nothing worthwhile is now on the menu. The only reason i would go there now is for a cup of coffee but only if the weather was warm enough to drink outside in the courtyard. I am not quite sure what clientele they are catering for at lunchtime, certainly not for people who are hungry, as what my friend and I had ,could only be classed as a small snack!

Firstly, I am local….. Secondly, I speak the truth… Thirdly, I am glad that the prices remain reasonable to the working class family man…… Although the decor might be a little bit tiring, the hospitality compensates…… On the last at least…. This place does amazing food…. Fantastic variety and the special board fluctuates…. I just don’t think that anybody that is down earth Can fully understand what it must be like to run a business. It’s like the same goes spread all your cards out and choose wisely. I have eaten all over the world up and down throughout the UK…. And I don’t remotely care what negativity comments I read on here about the coppice…. I salute every individual under the Employment of the establishment. Therefore, I totally recommend anyone to try this place. If you are too posh to wash and this place is not for you.. And if you do not suffer by piles Then clearly, you are the perfect backside …. And as Dell boy once said…. Bonjour …..

My elderly parents stayed overnight at this charming local inn. They were, from the start, treated with huge care and respect. Staff went above and beyond to cater for their needs which included swapping rooms to allow easier access, housing (and charging) a mobility scooter at some inconvenience and finally ensuring they left and returned safely from their social commitment. Their kindness was amazing. And the room itself was fresh, clean and well maintained with all the charm you would expect in this lovely building.

Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust

We booked afternoon tea for family celebrations. Afternoon tea was presented beautifully and was delicious. Our waitress Pinka was friendly and looked after us. The special offer was a bonus too. Highly recommended!
