Had a nice stay here, lovely staff, quirky layout Consistent with the age of the building, comes its own leper window. Good well kept ale and excellent food. Also has its own car park.

OUTSTANDING - If you are looking to book, do so. First and foremost, the staff and service - impeccable, friendly and attentive. Not to pick anyone out as everyone we interacted with was a delight but we had outstanding service for our evening meal on Wednesday evening from the FOH team (including a young lad who did not stop) The Bar manager could also not do enough during our stay. The food was superb we had the Chateaubriand and I have to say it was one of the best we have had (and we have had a few) the drinks were great and all really reasonable priced. Breakfast again fantastic. We stayed in room 2, beautiful and an outlook onto the front of the pub, bathroom with bath was lovely (dog friendly also and made a real fuss her) So all in all I would 100% recommend booking a stay here, staff go above and beyond really give you that great customer service experience. Five stars all round.

Very interesting place. Full of history. We stayed in the twin room which was very comfortable. A bit small and dark but everything you need with an enquire. Very quiet as it's at the back and beds were really comfortable. Compliments to the chief. We booked into the restaurant for the evening. We weren't disappointed. It was delicious. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The meal we had at the Olde Malthouse was the best we had on our trip to the UK which included London, Cornwall, Wales, and Scotland. It was a simple pork belly dish with crusted apple stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes and vegetables. Everything was beautifully hot and seasoned well. Hard to believe such a simple, comfort dish could be so delicious. We didn't have a reservation but they fitted us in anyway. Staff was great.

With it being half term, we stupidly didn't book a table to eat anywhere, we tried a couple places we have been before with no luck. We came here out of the rain on a whim, and we are soo glad we did. The young staff managed to squeeze us in and were so polite and welcoming. We had the fish and chips and the chicken burger, which were both absolutely delicious 😋 and very filling. Highly recommended this place for amazing food and great service 👌 we will be back!

Visited Cornwall many times over the years, and love it. The Olde Malthouse is the perfect blend of history, friendly attentive service, tasty and locally sourced food, and all for a reasonable price. In the historic setting of Tintagel, overlooking the Castle, it’s exactly what you would want from this beautiful County. King Arthur would have loved it!! We stayed in the Garden Suite for a couple of days and couldn’t believe our luck. For the price of a normal hotel room you get 2 bedrooms, a lounge, and private garden with table. Exceptionally clean and great facilities. Couldn’t get out of the shower - it was lovely. We had only intended to have one dinner there, but didn’t eat anywhere else as it’s so good. The quality of the food is superb, the menu is nice and varied, generous portions, and wicked puddings! The breakfasts catered for all tastes and all served in one of the 3 cosy dining areas. We went with our new rescue dog - she absolutely loved it. Lots of tickles from staff and guests, and the facilities were perfect for her. It’s very clear there are areas in the pub where dogs are not permitted, for those who would rather not meet them. We will definitely be back soon. It’s a great base for exploring Cornwall and ideal for staying with family/friends in the Garden Suite. The staff should feel very proud of this little gem.

We'd been to the Old Malthouse Inn last year on a flying visit to Tintagel, and had an amazing snack board while sitting outside, so when we came back to Cornwall on holiday this year we knew we had to go back. It's an amazing old building, and we were sat in what seemed to be a very old part (given it was built in the 14th century or so, that's saying something). We had main courses and desserts and everything was delicious. I had the vegan brisket burger which was delicious. Really well paired flavours, hearty portion and well presented and put together. My husband had the pork loin and couldn't get enough of it. We also both ordered the sea salt steamed greens as a side, which was a mistake only in as much as we should've ordered one between us, they were really generous portions! Which is a lovely 'problem' to have. The desserts (sticky toffee pudding and vegan chocolate brownie) were just as good as the mains, the brownie in particular was incredible. It's a lovely atmosphere, the staff were all really friendly and helpful, it's a great place for a meal or even just a drink.

visited for Dinner this evening as told about this Restaurant. I had the Hake( in batter) chips, Minted peas. Ate only a quarter of the fish as the batter was very over cooked and done, The Hake did not taste of anything ?, the chips served were hard ( I left them) The Tarter sauce was lovely but although even with Mustard as requested this did not make my meal any more enjoyable. Yes i did inform the waiter who came to present the bill and yes i said i would happily pay the bill as they are a business. I think really the establishment need to look at providing a meal of less opulence and concentrate on a menu more fitting to some good traditional good “Pub” food ! My opinion only people but not a great experience. I will visit at some point but will leave an honest review.

Superb location right in the heart of the village and opposite the entrance to start walking down towards the castle. The parking behind the Inn was definitely a bonus as village was packed and overflow car park very busy too. Staff professional and our waitress 'Teaks' (sorry for spelling) was especially jolly, smiley and accommodating. Room was small (as expected) and very comfy bed. Shutters on the window, the brick walls and log burner were lovely features. Lots of tea/coffee/choc options and fresh water in the room. We had evening meal in the restaurant which was delicious. You pre order breakfast by the night before. I had the best bacon sandwich ever; soft doughy doorstep fresh bread and thick cut bacon. My husband had scrambled eggs and bacon on toast which was the freshest orange scrambled egg I've ever seen. Bathroom sink was in the bedroom and not in the bathroom which was a bit odd going between the two. Pub was a little noisy in the evening downstairs but I think it was a birthday party, it soon quietens down later on/at closing. Not a negative for the accommodation but for travellers to note; it is a very steep walk to the castle but you can get a land rover transfer, for a couple of pounds, back up the hill. We arrived late and it was only open for about another half hour, we'd walked all the way down the hill and up the (scary, open) cliff side to the entrance and we just wanted a few photos from the cliff (as I wouldn't be able to walk across the high, long sky bridge anyway, way too scary) was still expected to pay full price, £20 each, to go any further where we could get a photo, we didn't go in or get to see any of the ruins from the path. Shame. I got to see some of it from the postcards in the village shops.

Mixed review of this very popular Inn. The food was good - the lamb kofte starter spicy and tender and the children's fish generous and well cooked. The Caesar salad could have done with more chicken for the price and smaller croutons.,which were huge and clumsy. But - the place was packed with dogs and because we had asked for somewhere away from dogs were were crammed into a very cramped and uncomfortable alcove. There really ought to be a ban on dogs anywhere food is served - but i won't hold my breath! The place was busy which probably accounted for the rather hectic service. Would give it another go but choose my time more carefully.

We actually booked somewhere else but when we seen Joe on 4 in a bed we cancelled the booking and booked to come here and so glad we did. From the time we entered the place till the time we left everybody was so friendly and accommodating nothing was too much trouble. They were such a young team but brilliant at their jobs, customer service was everything. A special mention to Kieran who was amazing and so friendly and Tikes who was a breath of fresh air. She didn’t stop smiling and made everyone else smile she dealt with. The rooms were fantastic, very thoughtfully decorated and very clean. Plenty of drinks left in the room with a selection of biscuits. Even though the rooms are above the bar they stop serving meals after 8pm so the bar becomes quiet very quickly. The beds are amazing we slept all night and didn’t wake once which is very unusual. We were in room 6 which looked out onto the main road but again the streets became very quiet quite early on in the evening. The products for washing hair and showering were great we didn’t have to use any of our own. The hairdryer is great in the room so no need to take one with you. Now to the food! Everything was of such a high standard and cooked to perfection. The belly pork meal was out of this world as was the fish and chips. Plenty of choice for breakfast and again cooked to perfection. I only wanted toast and jam one day and that wasn’t a problem even though not on the menu. We would highly recommend this place to stay and we would gladly return. Well done everybody you made our holiday very special, thank you!

Dining at Ye Old Malthouse in Tintagel was an exceptional experience. The food was so remarkably good, it felt as if Merlin himself was in the kitchen (had to 😉). Having had the pleasure of dining at top-tier establishments like Noma, The Fat Duck, and The Man Behind The Curtain, I can recognize when great care and dedication are put into the food. This dedication is palpably evident at Ye Old Malthouse. The service from all the staff was equally impressive. Warm, friendly, and inviting, they made us feel welcomed and well cared for throughout our meal. Their genuine hospitality added to the enchanting atmosphere of the restaurant. Ye Old Malthouse is a standout destination in Tintagel. For those who appreciate well prepared food and a welcoming ambiance, this place is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended!

Our first visit to Tintagel and what a first impression, fantastic. We received a lovely warm welcome and enjoyed good beer and excellent food, at a very reasonable price. Good atmosphere, we dined in the dog's room. The choice was not huge but there were four or five which caught my eye, plumped for an old favourite, a cheese sandwich, it was terrific with a side of skin on chips. Quite a lot to eat though! My other half had the hake in a light batter, again, it was delicious and rare to see hake done that way. We shall definitely be back, possibly within the hour. Would highly recommend this pub.

Traditional cosy pub serving food. We booked a table on the phone and were given a table with space for our (large) dog. The service was absolutely fine and we enjoyed the food. The tables were clean and the staff were polite. I'm sure this place gets very busy in high season, but we found it excellent for what we wanted. Would definitely return. Nothing to do with the pub, but Tintagel is a tourist trap and this is one of the better places for a decent meal.

This inn should be the blueprint for all bed and breakfast establishments. Jamie and the other staff made us so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our little group occupied three rooms and all were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The beautifully presented cooked breakfasts, both meat and vegetarian, were a triumph. So impressed, we booked again for Sunday lunch. We both had the chicken supreme, with all the veg, crispy roasties, roast parsnips were amazing, gravy plus everything else on the plate was so tasty. Hubby had the sticky toffee pudding and I had the crème brûlée, both were absolutely amazing. Jamie, the manager, knew straight away the wine I was drinking from our first visit, and Tikes our waitress was amazing, so helpful, so efficient and definitely an asset to the pub. When we arrived the staff continued to be exceedingly friendly and helpful. Every aspect of our stay was stellar. The rooms were small (which was expected) but clean, nice, and full of charm. The food was delicious all around. It’s also right across from the entrance to the castle. I plan on traveling back to Tintagel someday just to stay here again!

Booked a 3 night stay for our wedding anniversary, after watching 4 in a bed. The programme didn't do them justice. Had an outstanding stay. From the quaint and extremely clean rooms, the food is to die for, and we have never met staff before that were so friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely be going back again, and would like to thank everyone at the olde malthouse for making our anniversary so memorable

Visiting out of season and were met with lovely friendly staff, well kept beer. A good example, they were only serving food at the weekend but went out of their way to mention that they were happy for us to buy food elsewhere and eat it with our drinks. Update We moved to Tintagel in summer 2023 and this is now our favourite local. Great food, beer and friendly staff, highly recommend.

We were greeted by very friendly staff . We made a phone call just prior to arriving, James said he would have a table ready and waiting . We were shown to our table and our order taken. I chose the Bubble Hake and farmhouse chips which was delicious. All the staff were very friendly, lovely pub, lovely setting. We enjoyed reading about the ghostly goings on. Definitely recommend a visit . Cornwalls Pride Ale is fab xx

Our family of six recently dined here and nearly all of us had the pork belly which was superb, definitely the best we’ve eaten. The pub was really busy, we needed to book, and the atmosphere was lovely. We will be back.
