So sorry for the low rating. Maybe at 15:30, you're staff are tired. My rating is based on how you made us feel, and staff approach. The barmaid looked stern, and the garden table's was dirty.

We are local but have not been for sometime as we had heard differing reports about it since its been under new ownership. What a very pleasant suprise then to be greeted by friendly attentive bar staff and an interesting range of beers. Food menu is good basic pub food, and aĺl the better for that. We shared a panko prawns starter followed by sausage and mask and a fish pie my wife asked for a side of veg which wss served hot and tasty. Will go again.

Really good size pub, staff were really friendly and took intolerances very seriously. My wife is Gluten free and there was plenty of options available. My wife had the fish and chips, luckily she ordered the small option as it was a very generous portion! I had the fish pie which was fantastic. If you like a good sized meal then this is a must. The pub was fully booked so booking in advance is definitely advised. We look forward to heading back.

Lots of positive reviews but I don't see why? Long long wait for food, the portion size was small and the big kicker, they add 10% service charge automatically, no mention of it at all, but it's on the fine print on the bottom of the receipt. I guess they do it that way because after the wait, you would not volunteer it. Disappointing, avoid and go to better places in St ives!

Arrived as a group of five which caused a problem straightaway as tables for a maximum of four. Young man (Joel?) rushed off his feet and tried to sort a table. Asked if games room would be ok but table too small and beside pool table so no room. Ended up outside on picnic table so had to put up with smokers. Before this an older gentleman came to show us to a table of four and when we pointed out we were a group of five he huffed at us and said he couldn’t sort it and walked away. Food - don’t order ‘home made’ curry. Awful. Tepid, soggy, no flavour. Fish and chips were deemed okay until a hair found in it. Drinks - given a wine list. Ordered a Sauvignon - didn’t have any! A pub on a Friday night and no Sauvignon! There’s a Tesco 1 minute away, go and buy a few bottles! Then a 10 minute wait for drinks to be brought to the table. Overall, made to feel unwelcome This , food poor and service below standard . But Joel, you were trying. Perhaps more staff. 2 obviously not enough. Won’t be back. This is the first time I have ever written a poor review which shows how disappointed we were.

Our plan was to have a few beers, play a few games of pool and then have an evening meal, well that didn't happen. First round and the San Miguel was off. We returned this to the bar and reluctantly after tasting it the lad behind the bar replaced it. He replaced it with another larger he tried before serving. The IPA was flat but our other drinks were ok. Obviously aggrieved by this he must have gone to tell the owner and he announced himself by speaking to us in a very kurt and rude manner. Well his manner sealed the deal for us and we left after finishing our drinks. We moved up to the Gannet and had a super evening. Never again you arrogant .... The last time we were in this pub was 1998 watching England play when some Plymouth fans wrecked the joint afterwards, i thought it was because England lost but maybe it was the landlord?

We booked this by email yesterday as their website asks for Sunday lunch at 1300 today. We received the reply that it was all booked fine. We arrived at 12:50 and they seemed a bit awry. Said hold on a minute we are just checking a table then came back and said they were fully booked and tried to put us on a tiny round beer table in the bar with just enough room for two very small plates and just room for a little stool to sit on on one side. We are 70 and cannot, nor want to sit on a bar stool for Sunday lunch when restaurant tables were there but they would not sit us at one, although many were not taken at that point. Utterly useless. No apologies or anything, the young girl just said they were fully booked and we pointed out, yes and we were booked also. She then made the excuse that she was not there yesterday, as if that makes a difference. Steer clear as it was difficult to find anywhere else without going in to St Ives. Numpties!

Had a nice stay here, lovely staff, quirky layout Consistent with the age of the building, comes its own leper window. Good well kept ale and excellent food. Also has its own car park.

Our family of six recently dined here and nearly all of us had the pork belly which was superb, definitely the best we’ve eaten. The pub was really busy, we needed to book, and the atmosphere was lovely. We will be back.

Superb pizza at the wood-fired pizza place. Lots of great options - I went for the goat cheese with added fennel sausage, and it was fantastic. Perfect balance of savoury with sweet (caramelized onions), everything fresh. Crust was phenomenal. Highly recommended.
