i was in shock as when i previously have visited coffee #1 i have had lovely staff and a nice greeting this time, i came in and was ignored by all 3 staff members and when my order finally was taken they stopped to have a conversation mid order also when a pastry i ordered one member of staff asked another to give it to me and the member who took it held it for a while and was still having a conversation.. very displeased.

The service was horrendous, only one girl serving. I asked for a cloth to clean our table and she told me to wait very rudely. The cafe was filthy I have been there before but will not return.

On ordering I noticed the previous customer being served in takeaway cups As we were sitting in, and it’s part of “the experience” (at 4 quid a cup), I asked, politely, for ours to be served in proper cups/mugs Was told their dishwasher was broken and they had no way of “sanitising” crockery. This was despite a tray next to me being loaded with china breakfast dishes, ready for service. Presumably they’ve never heard of a sink and washing-up liquid? How did they pass their EHO inspection without a sink? I fed-back that if I just wanted paper cups - I could get this next door at Gregg’s (for less than half the price) Was told “right, I’ll cancel the order then”. No understanding. No apology, nothing. There are plenty of coffee shops to choose from in Wellington. This one is off the list.

I thought this was an independent coffee stop but it's part of a chain apparently, mainly in SW England & Midlands, and I'd happily visit other branches after Wellington. Great choice of coffee, tea, smoothies etc and some appealing cakes and treats. My custard & rhubarb slice was good - could do with more rhubarb taste I think. My friend said her blueberry slice was good too. Plenty of space and tables on a Sunday morning and no hurry to move on/vacate the table. Looks like some people come for a coffee and to read the paper - ideal. Staff could be a bit more friendly and smiley perhaps.

Real shame that none of the staff were wearing masks. Otherwise the coffee was quite nice and the location, as per so many others, appear to be an internet office for a lot of people.

It was very busy when we arrived and the majority of tables were occupied. One of the waitresses cleaned the only empty table for us as we sat down. Upon ordering I could see the work surfaces behind the counter were very clean, also when everyone started to leave, the waitress was clearing and wiping down each table. Very impressed at how clean this place wa on this day and credit goes to the waitress who was maintaining this (5/10/21)

Bad coffee, bad staff, dreadful management. Constantly hear staff saying ‘are going for a fag’ while serving. Dirty plates and cups on tables on every visit. Staff allow friends to swear in front of customer. I would highly recommend independent traders in town, much more inviting and the staff do not look like they are chewing a wasp, plus the coffee abs atmosphere is so much nicer.

Lovely attentive staff! Popped in with a friend and the ladies here were lovely! Nice range of cakes with gluten free options for my friend and although no gluten free food to choose from, the selection they did have was very good anyway! Takeaway coffee and cake were both lovely! Definitely recommend this branch!

I visited on 19th July 2020. Whilst it is great cafes are reopening I am very concerned about the environmental impact of the current eat and drink in arrangements. The teas and coffees were served in "take away" cups and the cakes were served in closed plastic containers. Not a great eat in experience but my concern is the environmental impact of this. I asked whether these items were recycled and the server said she didn't know. I rather took that to mean they were not recycled. So I emailed the company to be told that these items are not recycled as it is "not safe or economical and disposed of in the rubbish. This is unacceptable and coronavirus should not be used as an excuse for being environmentally irresponsible. Recycling facilities could and should be provided or better still plastic should not be used at all.

My third visit. The staff here are consistently poor. Too busy having a fun time chatting, eating their lunch and giving superficial service. Called in with an hour between appointments, ordered some food & a coffee. Waited 15 minutes food didn’t arrive, went to the till & clearly they’d forgotten as it was cold in the grill, whispered conversations about ‘do another quick’. All they had to do was follow the processes of the same company, that plenty of other branches I visit follow. Dirty tables everywhere yet three staff in duty, only 4 tables in use so not busy. I’ve been here for 20 mins & I didn’t see a crowded store when I arrived. I’m never returning to this branch, suggest they business gets a new store manager, the one here clearly sets pitiful standards.

Lovely coffee, but the toilet was terrible, there was water and paper all over the floor and the smell was very bad. Toilets give a bad impression of a place and you wonder how the kitchen are is kept clean if the toilets aren't. Whilst I appreciate they may be check and the issues caused by the public, the smell means they are not cleaned well enough! My gripe is also allowing people to come and work from the pace, they but one coffee (if they buy anything at all) and stay for hours. On this occasion one person occupied a table for 4 and another occupied a very large table that could seat 8+. Maybe you need to consider tables for one to allow others to use the larger tables?

I sometimes go there in the morning with my laptop to finish some work. Even when it is busy, the cafe is spacious enough, too allow me to work in peace. There are different types of seats available for your mood or needs.

great atmosphere,coffee is lovely and the cakes are amazing staff are friendly and polite a great place to chill out with friends or family think its dog friendly too

Sunday late lunch and the selection of just under a fiver sandwiches had started to look like they had seen better days. We needed a drink and a visit to the loo so this dog friendly places seemed to be our only option. Drinks all OK, loo had the seat ripped off! Didn't bother eating.

Surly staff complaining to their regulars about working, lots of eye rolling. Tables full of dirty plates & cups (in fairness it is 1.25pm - so probably a busy period). Toilets are a disgrace, unclean, uncared for and no trace of regular schedules checks through the day. Asked for extra hot coffee, that wasn’t relayed to the person making it. I asked them myself & still got a lukewarm mediocre cappuccino. It’s a shame, I’ve got a lot of work in the area & had assumed I’d be using this as my regular. Such a contrast to the larger Taunton branch, staff are friendly, busy sweeping round clearing. & the toilets always immaculate

I popped in whilst waiting for my husband who had a business visit nearby. I ordered a special hot chocolate but when I got through the cream I realised I’d been given a white chocolate instead. I didn’t complain however as the young lady serving was so lovely. I use Coffee #1 often in various towns and this is always one of the nicest.

On my birthday I ended up in wellington as my daughter had an interview locally,I decided to take a walk in search of coffee and thankfully I ended up in coffee 1,the coffee was amazing and the croissant to die for,the two young ladies behind the counter were very lovely,making polite conversation with all the customers and making you feel like one of the family and very welcome,I will use more coffee 1 shops in the hope that are all staffed the same and knowing the coffee is top notch.

I visited on Saturday to be greeted by lovely friendly happy smiling staff who were also doing a fundraiser for charity of getting the manager wet!! What a great idea! Wish I had a go now!! They were extremely busy but nothing was too much trouble for them. After a lovely relaxing coffee I decided to stay and have something to eat, even when busy they still told me to take a seat and they would bring it over! I’ll be honest I normally avoid chain places but this one will now be my regular when in town. To walk into a busy environment but to see clean tables and happy smiley staff with a fantastic atmosphere happening was great. The shop obviously has a great team which shows in what I sat and watched on Saturday morning. If your looking for somewhere to sit and rest your feet in between your Saturday shopping then I would recommend , lovely coffee and fantastic food. I will definitely be returning not just for a coffee but I have my eye on the cheesecake now too!!

This establishment maintains the same good standard as Coffee #1 in neighbouring Taunton. It is however worth mentioning the setting. There is a more open feel to this place. However, this maybe due to the fact that it is less busy and therefore tables are set wider apart. Good coffee.

The coffee is good, the environment just right, and the offering spot on. But then there are coffee places everywhere..what justifies a 5 star rating?

That sums it up really, it is ok. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side and the choice is, strange to say, probably too great as it takes an age to read through them all and make up your mind.

As a coffee shop should be...welcoming, cosy and enjoyable. The hot chocolate and Victoria Sponge I had was gorgeous!

Stumbled into this gorgeous little coffee shop in the centre of Wellington today and was absolutely charmed by the relaxing atmosphere, tasty, good quality food they had on offer all served by the most cheerful, friendly, helpful staff .

Relaxed atmosphere interesting layout. Just right for a quick pop in for Coffee n Cake. However real quiet at the back to settle down with the laptop if required.

This used to be my favourite place to meet friends. Not any more. The staff in there now are more interested in leaving on the dot of closing rather than letting you drink and chat in a relaxed way. Last week they started their closing process an hour before closing time. I was told that they wanted to leave at 5 when they shut. We were even told to take our empty mugs to the counter when we had finished to save them time!! (it was still 20 minutes until the place closed)

This very pleasant cafe serves a wide variety of beverages and yummy goodies in a very welcoming ambience. It is large and light with a suitable charm generated by its quotes and books. The place has a good feel to it which is enhanced by its welcoming staff. Well worth the visit.

Coffee number1 makes some of the best lattes, really creamy and hot. We regularly visit this branch and usually enjoy our time there, as a break from shopping. We felt very uncomfortable on this visit, but would prefer to not mention why on this occasion, but purely to leave this review as a reminder of our visit for ourselves

I haven’t been in here since August when I went in to a juicer broken and no card machines and one day no coffee manchine!!! I actually walked away feeling extremely disappointed and disheartened for all the lovely hardworking staff who you could see were trying there best to remain open with limited support from obviously staff higher up the chain!!!

Visited today whilst passing through the town my experience of coffee 1 shops in other towns haven’t been great but this one today has blown my reservations out the window!

Nikki and her staff do a great job, best coffee and cake in town. Always a friendly welcome, quite often if they are not to busy they will tell you to sit down and they bring your coffee over, by far my favourite coffee shop,

This place looks like an independent trying to look like a chain. Not the kind of place I’d come to but it was Sunday and not much was open. Nice and spacious with okay coffee and tea. No newspapers so wouldn’t come back on that basis alone. Had a ciabatta, minimum effort put into this...cheap bread with ingredientes simply slung in from a supermarket bag in the fridge...served with a small pile of badly wilted leaves. Cakes of the ghastly mass produced variety. Rubbish wi fi ...bother of signing up and then doesn’t work!

what has happened to this place , lack of service poor staff customer relations and now you cant see out of the windows because of paper that covers it

Popped in here to have a coffee and some light breakfast. First issue was the girl pointing out that their card machines were broken so it was cash only - a gentleman in front made a comment around ‘thats been a week.’

Queued up here for about 10 minutes despite only 2 people in front of me. Finally got served, asked for a fresh juice only to be told it was broken ( have had this happen a few times here). If the juicer is broken it might be an idea to put a sign where people queue, to notify them (and not waste time).

Went in on a Sunday to pick up a couple of takeaway coffees. Only 2 people in front of me but I was queuing for nearly 15 minutes, and it took ages. Was given elderflower instead of a bottle of water and had plenty of time to look at the dirty floor and think about how much it needed sweeping!

we have been using this coffee shop for some time and really it is a lovely place. Besides the fact the coffee and cakes are lovely. The staff are brilliant Nicki runs a tight ship there, knows her regulars by name and remembers all about them. Makes going for coffee fun Thanks guys

I arrived with friends plus my 12 week old puppy, we were made extremely welcome. Even a bowl of water outside for thirsty pets. Great place to meet friends and a very good choice of food and drink. The coffee is very nice and there is a good range of cakes. The two we tried the other day were both delicious. It is very roomy, and we enjoyed dipping into the books in the big book case next to our table while we drank our coffee. Husband would have preferred a cup to a mug, but that was our only quibble.

945am Sunday morning 8th April, order taken by the first of two staff on duty, no hello, no smile, just yawns and an irritation that I had interrupted their less than fascinating conversation, brought coffee to table without a word, Staff member number 2 completely forgot my food order, i asked for a refund which was given and then i left, still with 3/4 of a cup of coffee to drink.

It’s my favourite coffee chain in Wellington. They have a great selection of cakes and really nice coffee & tea. The service is also quicker than some of the competitors.

Huge coffee shop with loads of space & comfy chairs. Large shelves of books at back. Interesting food to sample. Parking possible on street outside.

Great place to visit when in Wellington, I’m lucky enough to work in the shop around the corner so I have the best coffee on my door step! The staff are all welcoming and friendly, always quick service no matter how long the queue may seem to be. It’s my first stop in the morning for a chat and a fresh coffee. Also the tea cakes are a 10/10 and are huge! An asset to Wellington.

Had to remind them they hadn't brought over coffee or milk for tea. offered refund or free drink, got the weakest Americano possible instead. Didn't get free drink in the end. Staff didn't seem to care.

The place is nice with comfy chairs and sofas but it’s very expensive for what it is.

Every time I go, I enjoy it. The staff are hilarious and very friendly. The coffee I now no longer need to order as they know what I like and how I like it. Comfortable seating and a very relaxed vibe!

Coffee was average, but the service was good. Free WiFi provided good service. The decor was pleasant with many interesting quotes written on the walls around the cafe. A popular place with many groups.

I regularly visit for coffee. It's more relaxed than Costa in the town, but I prefer the Costa coffee. It's busy usually and sometimes there is nowhere to sit. However, the staff are helpful and the products generally good.

The café looks really very original (modern coffeeshop style). My boyfriend said that it served the best coffee he had in 10 days of England. However, the scones were rock hard. The croissants were okay.

As per usual the standard of this place are high and consistent there are loads of coffee shops in town but none match up to this place the staff are great and the food is tasty and well presented

We visited this weekend while on a weekend trip.The coffee here is excellent; strong but smooth at the same time.The shop has a great atmosphere, with really comfortable sofas to sit on. We didn't have any food, but the sandwich options looked different and very interesting, much better than normal coffee shop chain options.Great service tops off an excellent place for a visit.

It's a nice place, with lovely staff. The coffee 1 has an area with a couch just to chill, loads of tables with chairs and a book area. You can just pick any book from the shelves to read with your favorite beverage. Even have soya milk!! I asked to have my milk in my own mug (that I took with me) and it wasn't a problem at all. Great staff! It's also environmental friendly. Have recycled napkins and sticks to mix your drink, instead of plastic spoons. Really nice place

Coffee#1 is a great place for a leisurely coffee. It has nice coffee, a good range of cakes and bags of space. They dead one vegan option on offer which was a sort of biscuit cake. Soya milk too for the coffee. It would be great to have 2 vegan options of cake but maybe there isn't much demand.

OMG. Is the only word to describe the hot chocolate. A mint hot chocolate with bits of flake. And I had a cheese and salami wrap with it. Best light lunch had for ages. Top marks.

We go here alot. The service is always very good. Only one complaint is they need to top up the crayons and colouring in stuff as my little one gets very upset if there isn't any.

Not your usual coffee shop. Comfortable armchairs interspersed with an eclectic mix of other seating. Decor conducive to taking your time over a delicious cup of coffee (other beverages are available). Oh, and the Welsh cakes are lovely - my husband is Welsh and he says they are really good!

It was the name of the place that attracted me to it, twas a claim that I had to see was true. The furnishings are excellent with areas for families and other places that have very large chairs of the kind that pipe smokers enjoy. The selection of cakes and other savoury temptations are similar to those found in Starbucks or Costa, and this coffee shop is essentially that in everything but name. A fine twist on the theme of commercial coffee house, but the same intention nonetheless. Sugar filled coffee served by unsmiling and quite Curt staff, I did however witness the manager acting differently when she appeared, clearly her staff need to follow her example as she welcomed customers and didn't treat them like a production line..

Lovely comfy chairs/sofas and great coffee! Much more casual and comfy feel than Costa or Starbucks.

This has to be our favourite place for coffee in Wellington, the staff are so friendly & helpful it's makes a nice change.

I generally avoid coffee chains like the plague but this one shows how to do it. They can be found in other local towns but Wellington is where we live and I am a regular customer due to the excellent coffee and range of cakes etc. Whoever does the recruitment and staff training does a marvelous job as they are unfailingly hard-working, jolly and interactive. Nice ambiance too.

Used every weekend, girls always very friendly and the coffee is great! Decor inside is really nice and the place is always buzzing with cyclists and groups!

Me and a friend from the office go to this shop at least once a week and have been doing so for nearly 4 months.Atmosphere is great, service is really good and any of the good selections of drinks are really nice.Food is also good but we rarely eat.Highly recommended for anyone either for business or for a lunch time break.

Very attractive decor . Friendly efficient staff . Good range of coffees and cakes . Have enjoyed meeting friends here but sometimes hard to hear each other as very noisy when full , probably can't be helped as the room is so large with no divisions to cushion sound .

After wandering around the delightful little town of Wellington after driving from the bottom of Cornwall, we were more than ready for a coffee break !!! We were not disappointed, squishy seats, great Cafe Latte, good atmosphere, bliss.

Every time I walk in I am greeted with a big smile and a lovely bunch of staff. I am simple when it comes to my drinks and the staff get to know you and what you like. I never wait to long and I always have a good natter. The food is brilliant too. For a chain coffee house the food and what you get for the price is amazing. Well worth a visit, anytime of the day.

Our first visit to Coffee 1 Wellington and if we visit Wellington again we will return. We enjoyed a good lunch and the usual excellent coffee.

Always meet up here for coffee when in Wellington & enjoy the buzz. Sometimes have to queue for a while but you can see the staff are working very hard to serve you so that cannot be helped. Good coffee and delicious cakes.

Although there are many cafes in the town, we usually arrange to meet friends here. Its always busy and they have a good selection on drinks at reasonable prices

This place has a quirky inside with tables and chairs of shapes and sizes. Sadly there are no interesting cakes and everything appears bought in.

My wife and I go here often and the staff and ambience of the place is brilliant, it is always buzzing and the coffee and small snacks extremely good, I thoroughly recommend it, plenty of room to sit and chat or work on a lap-top.

This is the best coffee #1 that I have been to. Staff very attentive and drinks are always just right. Clean and mess quickly cleared. Can't fault it

Called in for a coffee and sandwich as passing through on a sunday lunchtime recently and like the #1 chain. Coffee Shop larger than some in the chain but seemed a bit scruffier than some although the food and drinks were of the usual good standard but my husband said the gents loos were grubby.
