The Stonegallows Inn in Taunton Deane

Had an issue earlier on in the day today And received a call in the afternoon by a lovely staff member Named Harrison from Taunton stonegallows Somerset Harrison was extremely pleasant and professional in his work not only our issue But was very professional with other customers especially being on a very busy day and evening ( Valentine’s Day ) We felt sorry for Harrison as he was run off his feet behind the bar with a very long queue but although this was the case he handled it extremely well with a happy and cheerful attitude and very professional We recommend the stone gallows in Taunton highly the food we have had in the past and have been coming here many times has always been delicious and hot and served with a smile even the chef came out to apologise for any wait which is not a problem whatsoever the best service we’ve ever had thank you guys for your help we truly appreciate everything we will definitely be back for your lovely food and professionalism I think personally Harrison deserves a pay rise or a Big bonus 👌🏻

Food is OK. Staff are polite and helpful cleanliness is an issue. Cutlery not clean with everything having a sticky feel to it.. My biggest problem was the TV monitors built into the walls at the seating booths were absolutely filthy and quite off putting when eating. I can't help thinking if something as simple as a TV screen can't be cleaned what else is being overlooked and they are at the table where you eat. Not a good look to be honest.!

Well what can I say! The Hungry Horse never fails to surprise us! At first we were a bit sceptical, but having heard rave reviews about Monday steak, we gave it a go! And we weren’t disappointed. From then on we’ve been a massive fan! Frequenting as offers as the budget allows but at the price everything is, it’s often! There’s always service with a smile form Taylor, and Adam well he’s a culinary master! A must visit if you’re in Taunton! 5* even when it’s busy!

Rubbish . .food not edible, not as advertised and overall a really rubbish meal, chips were cold we ate as the kids were starving, alot was leftover due to it not being fit for pet consumption let alone human!!! Didn't order dessert wasn't going to waste more money.

We booked in advance for a Sunday lunch. Great roast meal available and range of kid's food too!

Ordered epic New Yorker and came as normal chicken New Yorker and looked nothing like the picture also ordered jacket potatoes no butter even came with it this is now two bad experiences I’ve had here I will not be returning as there are many more good places in Taunton

10/10! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 100% would recommend 🤩 Having eaten at The Stonegallows a couple of times in the distant past it was a place that I once described as a reliable. Roll onto this experience however and well what can I say! From the moment of stepping through the door we were fabulously greeted by James, we were shown to a seating area in the restaurant that we weren’t even aware existed from our previous visits and from beginning to the very end we were made to feel welcome, cared for and valued. We had an excellent experience! There was a wonderful atmosphere, the speed in which the food and drinks were delivered was top notch and the small factors James bought to our experience was the cherry on the cake (like remembering our drink order when we came to order a second round!) Small details matter, it demonstrated his experience and he did an amazing job! So much so that we have come back again within a 2 week period and once again the experience has been 👌🏼! From a place we went to once in a blue moon to now a place we consider first when it comes to going out for dinner! Thank you!

We came for lunch without booking. The service we had from Taylor was amazing! Smiling and friendly! My roast beef was spot on. And my partners turkey and beef he said was perfect. We also had side dishes of pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese. Would recommend to any one. Will be back soon

James was warm and welcoming as soon as we walked through the door. We were served food and drinks quickly and the food was incredible. We haven’t been to the Hungry Horse for a while, but after such a positive experience, we have already been back less than 2 weeks later and will be coming more regularly moving forwards!

James and Taylor at the Stonegallows Inn are genuinely fantastic. Every time I visit, they greet me with genuine warmth and friendliness, making me feel right at home. They're not just courteous; they take the time to engage in a little conversation, adding a personal touch that's rare these days. Their welcoming attitude creates such a nice atmosphere, making each visit a real pleasure. James has this great ability to remember little details about returning guests, and Taylor’s friendly chats make you feel like you’re among friends. It's these touches that keep me coming back time and time again. The entire experience at the Stonegallows is elevated because of these two. If you're looking for a place where you'll be treated like family, this is it.

Went in for a bite to eat Sunday with my mum while visiting home from London. We had the pie. Food and drink were really good and really economical compared to where I live. I think I was served by a lady called Tayla?? She made us feel right at home. Would recommend!!

We visit once or twice a month . The staff are always friendly and attentive. Yes sometimes they run out of items but the menu is extensive and such great value it’s hard to moan.

Had breakfast today. Food was delicious. The servers Ellie and elisha were polite and helpful. Definitely recommend

Went in for Sunday breakfast as a treat wi6t my son Despite only 7 tables of people, took them 45mins to bring out scrambled egg on toast & a bacon butty. What wasn't burnt, was cold. Terrible.

Harrison had excellent manners and even pulled my chair out for my Nan. My heart melted. Harrison was speedy and friendly .The food was top notch.

Went here for a group booking for a family members 50th birthday. Staff were great especially Harrison, Matt and Kate. The food was good value for the money.

We visited last night for my sons choice of birthday meal. It was a shame that initially 2 meals we wanted were unavailable, followed by no onions or peppers for the sizzler dishes so it came out on a cold plate with the chicken just plonked on it (the dish is normal served as named, sizzling with onions and peppers) Another 2 meals came without coleslaw, not a massive part of the meal I realise, but a part of it none the less. We had to ask twice for our table to be cleared before dessert was brought out. Dessert was brought out without the plates being cleared first, as a large group this left minimal room for the poor staff to put the desserts on the table. The staff were friendly and asked for a review. Thankfully none of this put a dampner on the teenagers meal out with family but hopefully valid feedback to help :)

Welcoming atmosphere I visit with Grandchildren twice a week as a treat and they love it. Staff particularly Ellie, Taylor and Harrison always friendly and very helpful and the children love chatting to them. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Visited today for food, upon entering you are able to sit down straight away at a table of your choice and order from your table using the app which makes it so much easier. Their iced lattes are lovely and would definitely recommend. We had the chicken tikka masala with onion bhajis and vegetable samosa, the onion bhajis were black and the vegetable samosa was rock hard to cut into and it didn't come with the mint dip it was supposed to. The cheese and clicker starter was really nice but not too fussed on the main.

Popped in with the family and was served by Tayla. Amazing service and the food came out fast and hot. Could have been a bit warmer tho.

We often come in after our home games of Korfball and the staff are always super friendly and there's never any trouble letting us sit in a large group. Shout out to Tayla, who is great with us all but expecially the kids! #onesoul

Jamie and team tonight were absolutely phenomenal. 19 of us arrived to celebrate my sons 18th Birthday. The went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect and the food was amazing!! Will definitely be back again

Good deals, very friendly and I did not have to wait ages for our food. Everyone is made to feel welcome. They serve food for everyone vegans, vegetarians etc.

We were in the area for an event and went to the Stonegallows Inn for a drink which had a nice country pub feel to it. The staff were really welcoming, and they had a good selection of drinks available. The scenery out over the fields to the rear was nice, seeing sheep in the field was great; not something we are used to in London!

Booked online for a stopover meal on the way to the airport on a Thursday eve 6.45pm. Upon entry the immediate vibe wasn't good. Generally grubby, dirtt tired carpet, not enough staff so alarm bells were starting to ring. We (family of 4) were left waiting at the bar to be seated, weren't acknowledged by staff, who then went and served other customers who came up to the bar after us. Eventually taken to a table that was so close to another table having a party (not a problem with the party) that we couldn't even pull the chairs out to sit down!! At this point I said " thanks but don't worry, we'll go somewhere else". And we did....

I visited the Stonegallows in Taunton recently and had an extremely disappointing experience. Despite being patient and understanding that there appeared to be limited staff, my party and I were completely ignored for nearly 10 minutes while standing at the bar to place an order. The staff member walked past us several times without even acknowledging us. A group of women entered the pub shortly after, and not only were they greeted with a conversation, but one of them was served a drink right away. We continued to wait, only to finally be told, “Are you aware we are not serving food due to no staff?” This was frustrating enough, but as we were leaving, we saw the same staff member taking a food order from the group of women who had just arrived. This blatant disparity in treatment left me feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. I am very disappointed with the service (or lack thereof) and would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Customer service should be fair and inclusive to all, and unfortunately, that was not the case here.

Looking at the reviews, we were not alone in receiving the standard of service we had. Ordered food at 1:40, pub was starting to empty. Our drinks came after about ten minutes. One had a fly in it. Sometimes that can’t be helped. Our food didn’t arrive until 2:50. We weren’t told about the wait and any member of staff that passed us avoided eye contact. Clearly, the kitchen needed some help seeing as there was an hour wait on salad… Bar and serving staff were stood down one end of the pub just chatting. Surely one of them could go and assist in the kitchen? When our food arrived, one meal was almost cold and the other burnt. Awful wait time, food wasn’t great, staff weren’t very helpful. Only come here if you want to wait an hour for some burnt bread and salad….

Went as a large group for a Christmas meal. The staff were welcoming and very patient with us, we had several people pull out because if the bad weather but that didn't phase them. Nor did the fact that half our party couldn't remember what they ordered! Food was good, good value for money. Drinks very reasonably priced. I marked down on the atmosphere because a bit of background music would be nice 👌

On the plus side we were greeted by a lovely young lady who also served our food. She was very pleasant and friendly. The food was very good and piping hot. However the young lady taking the food orders was very abrupt. She could do with time spent at charm school

Popped in for lunch on a trip with friends, very cozy vibe, food was well prepared and extremely tasty. Staff here where friendly. Will visit again next time I'm in the area :)

Went in for our monthly family night/ birthday meal. I can only say what a fantastic job James and Harrison did. The food was running late and with having two diabetics at the table timing is essential. However there was a bit of a delay and thoughs two kept communication throughout. They truly made our evening and need some recognition on how well they both do at there jobs. We vist once a month and hope they are both there the next time we vist so say our thank yous again. Truly brilliant service from them both! James especially as he was rushed off his feet seeing to everyone but doing it so effortlessly. Only thing I would say is let the poor man wear comfy shoes 🤣 as after doing what he was doing his feet must have hurt wearing them shoes! Very happy customers as there was 9 of us. We will see you next month

I went along with a friend for breakfast and I was expecting it to be a bit like other cheap chain-pubs and hadn't set my expectations very high, but was pleasantly surprised! Mega breakfast for £8.99 will see you filled up until tea time and everything was cooked nicely and tasted good. Definitely be back again soon to try some other items!

Great night with my partner. Service was exceptional from the three blokes working and the food was wonderful. Harrison I think he said his name was really stood out to us this evening.

Shout out to James the manager who went above & beyond today whilst we held an event at the venue.

Came in today and the food was quick and was great, our waitress Ellie was brilliant and my siblings absolutely adored her and she was brilliant with them. Ellie also helped us with all our questions and couldn’t have been more helpful even while being pretty busy as well.

Harrison, an absolute star who was so professional and knowledgeable of the menu, left me breathless after an absolutely lovely night x

Went to Stonegallows for the first time tonight. Have to say we were very impressed. The food was sooooo nice and piping hot and such good value as well. Would highly reccomend and will 100% be returning to work our way through the menu!!

The Sunday lunch was enjoyable. My choice of desert, cheesecake, was off menu, my alternative choice of sticky toffee pudding with custard was disappointing.

I visited The Stone Gallows whilst visiting my friend in Taunton. It was my request to go there as I had been before. It was 12pm on Sunday 2nd of November 2023. I found the barman taking orders quite intimidating. He asked if I had an allergy. All I wanted to say was that I didn't want a Yorkshire pudding because I was gluten free. He took over my order and told me what I needed to have and wouldn't let me speak. After 40 yrs of being intolerant to gluten I know what I can tolerate and what I can't. I told him this and with bulging eyes told me that his sister had had an operation because of it. Totally embarrassing. All I wanted to do was ask for what I wanted and he wouldn't listen. As a result I didn't enjoy my meal nor enjoyed being in the same room as him. Please listen to the people who you are serving.

Very dirty pub I get they were busy and understaffed lots of tables were dirty and still had plates etc on food didn't take that long but was very tasteless

All the staff were very helpful, the fish and chips was excellent value.

The menu had plenty of variety. Ordering from the friendly member of staff at the bar was simple & straightforward & our first choice of meal was available. Service was with a smile, fast & efficient. The food was very well presented & had plenty of flavour.
