We have been to Stonegallows on numerous occasions for food in the last few months,it has been nothing short of excellence. The food is always delicious and the customer service has been outstanding.

While on holiday we were looking for somewhere to eat 😋, was not sure what it would be like 🤔 never having been there before, so we went along to try it. We needn't have worried at all, as, the place was warm friendly, the food and service was excellent, would we go again ?? Absolutely would.

Been here a few times now, staff friendly and helpful, food has been great, no complaints at all and can't wait to visit again

No front of house like they used to,had to get our own cutlery, no activity packs for kids,we were told to go and look for them, the kids play area outside is in need of repair or better still replace, food was good

A 45 minute wait for food, followed by a roast dinner where the only hot items were the roast potatoes warrants a drop in stars on this rating! The waiting staff and bar staff were amazing just the food that let them down....

The Hungry Horse is thankfully our local pub/restaurant. Right on the A38 though it doesn't suffer any traffic noise. The menu is superb and the value incomparable. We think so highly of it that we visit once or twice month, often taking groups of friends. OK we are not talking Michelin here but a reliable venue with ample parking even for the disabled Sometimes it so busy that the kitchen is overrun. However the waits are rarely that long and well worth it. The staff are superb and very pleasant. Using the pies as a yardstick they are possibly twice the size of those served up by WS. The drinks are many and varied and of a decent price. There are superb offers to be had everyday Still a large choice of offer meals at less than £10. Example plenty of 2 for £12.99. At that price you could treat YOURSELF....... Cons are the level of music sometimes which a polite request to management will rectify. There is a large quieter area but not always when it is reserved e.g a wake. There is also a large garden terrace for outside eating and a children's play area. Thoroughly recommended We will return soon and are looking forward to booking the Christmas Festive menu

Food was so lovely I couldn’t get enough of it. It did take a little longer than I expected to come out but it was definitely worth the wait. Big shoutouts to our server Harrison who deserves a big pat on the back for his outstanding work.

Shocking. Waited 45 minutes for my meal that turned up cold, with the toast burnt to a crisp. Not only was the food exceptionally poor, but just before our food came out a chef ran out the kitchen and told the whole pub not to eat here as the food is horrible and shouldn’t be consumed by anyone. A waitress did come out to explain the chef didn’t mean it he had just been told off and reacted badly. The service, standard of food, cleanliness and the theatrics of the chef means I will not be returning.

Went in with my family this evening (31/08/24). Was pre warned about a wait on food however came out in half the time we were told. Service was excellent. Harrison was a gem and made us feel welcomed and happily enjoyed some laughs with us, which our nan loved. Food was lovely. Piping hot and great value for money. Great way to celebrate my nans birthday

Came for food tonight. Staff were great and very friendly. Child and wife has allergies and they were great to accommodate this. They were a chef down but this did not show in the quality of food. Food was great, ice cream was massive. Staff couldn't do more very helpful. Definitely recommend and come back aswell.

Went in although it was busy, was warned about a potential wait on food. Food didn't take long at all to come out. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was great quality. The beef on the roast dinner was awfully the veg was ok . Then me and my guest had a server saying to another guest oh this should have been your table ,which made me feel like I was being blamed for the mistake . The table did not have a reserved sign on it and I felt very uncomfortable I left more or less immediately. I will not be going back again .

Had a table booked for 7pm was seated straight away, ordered food was told it would be about 45 minutes very very busy didn't mind waiting when food came out it was piping hot and very tasty steak cooked perfectly.

Went for a meal 2 weeks ago, ordered from the app as always. Waited 1 hour before our food arrived. We have been here many times before and the food is with you within about 10 mins. What makes it worse, there was about 6 to 8 tables waiting for food, it wasn't overly busy. But nothing was coming out of the kitchen, 3 members of staff walking aroung the pub, then going into the kitchen. But they coming out with no food. Asked one of the staff how long for food, he said around 25 mins, we said we have already waited an hour. We won't be going back.

Very poor breakfast sausages under cooked everything cold considering it was 10.15 am when we got our food, complained but just got … oh sorry I’ll let the chef know. So won’t be back anytime soon.

Don't waste your time or money! We went as a group for granddaughter's birthday. Half the menu wasn't available, and what they replaced missing items with was only corn on the cob boild or battered. Then, they replaced a side order for a child with peppers and onions fried with more corn. As for the steak 🤮🤢 take a chainsaw! You will need one. Absolutely disgusting!

I come here alot during the day when I'm work. Staff are friendly. You know what the food is going to be like so ok. I had dinner today with my wife and mum. Didn't look busy when we went. Must have waited at least 30 to 40 minutes. They said sorry for the wait. We said that's ok but what I really wanted to say was if there is a delay please tell me when I walk in that way I can decide to stay or not rather than wondering whats happening. I think people would appreciate the honesty. The waiter said there was one chef and one pot washer and that they were doing their best. I understand that and I hope they find more staff from somewhere. The food was ok

This is a place that I go to frequently. The staff are nice and friendly in the main and the manager tries really hard to sort things out. The food is good and very reasonably priced, but they have had staffing issues for many years… ‘The chef has walked out’ ‘The chef is ill’ ‘The chef is new’ and ‘We’re understaffed at the moment’ etc There aren’t enough staff to take orders and often only one person (or nobody!) on the two bar areas. The queue to order food gets incredibly long. The tables and menus are sticky and the place needs a re-paint and as for the ladies toilets, well, let’s just say that it’s not a nice place to visit! Today I waited over an hour for my roast dinner.

Popped In today for food.. food wasn’t bad but having to wait over an hour for food was abit of a problem it didn’t even look that busy so wasn’t sure what the hold up was or wasn’t offered an explanation as to what was taking so long for the food

A long wait for breakfast as chef was 30min late arriving. Eventually got food and was cold. Sausages not cooked ropperly eggs looked like they were about to hatch. Bacon was burnt to a cinder. No butter on toast with scrambled egg. I will not be going there again for breakfast. Recommend going elsewhere.

Food is very reasonable. Drinks are a little expensive. Staff friendly Toilets could do with a deep clean

First time visiting today, very clean and tidy pub. Efficient service from polite and interested staff on duty. Meals were what you can expect and good sized with fair prices. Lots of special offers and definitely ideal for families. Separate area for adult dining will appeal greatly at certain times. Would recommend. Very pleasing. Worth a visit with summer approaching. 🤩 Sadly visited twice now in a fortnight and nearly walked out Monday lunchtime when visiting for a drink recently before school holidays, waited and waited and waited and finally got served by a very miserable member of staff, Last night Sunday 5/30 pm ish lovely warm evening, walked into the pub again on a busier evening for a drink as I live close by now and had to walk out, just zero acknowledgement from bar area pool table side, waited and waited and just left. The lovely efficient staff from my first visit do not appear to still be here and as a ‘non diner’ these chain pubs are not very accommodating sadly. Disappointed as I now live in the Galmington area.

Very good food I recommend this place

This hungry horse was definatly having trouble with getting food out well and on time. Waited along with many other tables for food taking way to long to come out. When the server was asked about the wait, the food (two roasts and two bbq chickens) came out straight away as if it had been sat waiting for a while. The food was cold and blatently reheated unevenly, even the icecream after was walmer. Multiple tables around us were reacting in the same way towards the service and food.

After spending the best part of £100 and then to be told that they wouldn’t sever me a blue streak because it’s there policy. And the rare steak that I asked for comes out almost well done. Sorry but I wouldn’t be using your place again. Very very unsatisfied……

We visited last night on our way home from a busy day at Crealy theme park. James and his team went above and beyond with their service, friendly manner and excellent food. We were a party of 7, with 3 children and found the children’s menu had a wide variety of choice. Our food arrived promptly and was very tasty. We all then had a round of desserts before heading home on our journey. Excellent friendly pub that we will use next time we are in the area

Only downside was the seating inside for dog owners were too high to eat our meal comfortably, could do with proper table and chairs

Popped in for a meal with my husband. We were greated by oli. What a lovely lad. We were shown to our table and were told how to order. Food was quick and very nice. Oli checked that everything was OK. What a lovely polite young man. An asset to the pub for sure. Other staff seemed very pleasant too. We enjoyed our evening and will be returning xx

We have took our little girl there today . She is really struggling with food and eating however today was the first time she has actually ate her whole food. Came here for a wake, hired out the function room and were treated with disrespect and rudeness by the so called ‘manager’. Had to wait 25 minutes for a drink at the Bar and the staff couldn’t even apologise. Awfully run place, won’t be back.

I eat here at least once a week. It’s generally good, but there are inconsistencies with the items of food you get. For example when ordering a gluten burger, it should come with.. jacket potato, coleslaw, side salad and of course the burger. Sometimes you don’t get the side salad or the coleslaw and often have to request butter. 🧈 But the quality of what you get is actually very good.

First time visiting this inn. Lovely atmosphere, great service and great food at excellent prices. Added to this were very friendly staff. Would highly recommend this inn, will certainly be going back again.

My visit on Monday was exceptional, we were greeted by the manager (James) who showed us to our table and even though they don’t do table service, he offered to take our food and drinks order as I was with my grandma in her wheelchair. Service was amazing and the food tasted great. The atmosphere was lovely and homely, and I was allowed to bring my dog in. Overall a very family friendly establishment and would highly recommend to anyone.

Chain pub, nothing fancy, good service, easy for kids, good place for lots of family to get together The steak pie is very nice. The whole family love the chicken wings. They used to do a fab sweet potato curry. However, I will recommend avoiding the Sunday roast, really disappointing.

Just had breakfast at this pub. James the barman was really pleasant and helpful. The food was plentiful, hot and and a good price. Service was quick and overall really good. Will definitely return. 😊

Great place to eat or just go for a drink

Today 23 5 24 , we held a wake at the Stonegallows inn in taunton, from the moment I booked it at quite short notice to the end of our function, the manager James and his team were absolutely fantastic, the food provided was absolutely lovely a wide selection and serviced very professionally, the staff were very attentive and considerate of our situation, I cannot recommend Stonegallows highly enough, everybody should be going here

I have had 3 rump steaks here in the past few months and the quality is getting poorer, obviously cheap meat and all have been tough. The last one I had was a pile of grissle with no meat, sent it back for a refund. Very short staffed and the place needs a good clean, especially around the window edges when they are open! Had to wait for ages before someone finally appeared to serve me and was never asked if the food was OK. wont be going back again.

Great place to come for a good, cheap meal.

Meals were ok, but the beef lasagna was overcooked and tasted like it was sat about for a while. Ordered a jug of water and one of the glasses had a big crack in it! Toilets were clean, the tables were sticky and the cutlery was dirty. Staff were friendly and polite, but they looked very overworked and understaffed for a Bank Holiday Monday. I won’t be coming back here for a while, which is a shame as they used to be very good.

Had M/A pie gravy in pot was like jelly and mash was lumpy and bland also no containers for takeaway icecream only tin foil staff service very good

This is a nice local pub with a good menu and nice staff. It's ideal for a late breakfast if your looking for a full English. It could do with a refurbished though, it's looking tired.

Went to the stonegallows for a meal as we had family down for the weekend, food was amazing and service was great, will definitely be back again soon.

Looks nice on the outside but don’t let that deceive you. Ordered a Turkey carvery which came out pretty quickly. Plate consisted of: 3 weapons grade roast potatos 1 slice of over cooked Bernard Mannings finest turkey meat. A spoon full of mash that you could plaster walls with. A bit of cauliflower that looked like it fell on the floor. And swamp gravy. All in all, terrible food and atmosphere. Pretty sure the waitress thought I was joking about the food, but unfortunately not. Won’t bother coming back or recommending.

It's such a shame this pub has no staff. The queue to order the food or drink is ridiculous. 1 person serving at the bar and doing everything. The queue wrapped around into the other room. The food is lovely but you spend as long ordering it as it takes for it to arrive. It was grubby all over and tables were sticky. Wont be returning unfortunately.

For starters, the Wholetail scampi, my go-to dish, was impeccable as always. The scampi itself was succulent and flavorful, perfectly breaded and fried to a delightful crisp. Paired with just the right amount of chunky chips, the meal was a satisfying balance of textures and tastes that seafood lovers dream of. Compared to other hungry horses I've been in, average. Waited ages at the bar to order while the other bar was staffed and had to walk round to get served after waiting several minutes. Food ready 5mins later, steak & ale pie. Good deals on menu prices though.

Great meal there last night! Really enjoyed the whole experience from entering, ordering and getting some very good quality food! Happy as always and they were quite busy!
