Wildshroom, “This Isn’t”, Blue Moo and Heidi were our choices with onion rings, slaw and pigs in a blanket. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding. It was fantastic food. The pies were all amazing! Very reasonably priced too. Hometown atmosphere. Well represented by locals. Perfect sort of place for us! If you’re in the area, well worth trying them out.

I dropped by this lovely village pub because of its extensive choice of real ales and home cooked food. The menu is varied with many different food choices. There are many flyers around the bar advertising live music events. A lively atmosphere in a quintessentially English village for visitors and locals.

We went for an afternoon walk along the Lee on the Solent sea front today and popes into the penguin for a well needed cold drink. Service was on the slow side which was surprising as the cafe wasn’t busy. We ordered 2 x cold bottled drinks and when they brought them to the counter we asked for glasses and ice, the short and curt response was “WE DONT HAVE ICE”. Certainly won’t be going back anytime soon, shame really the cafe is well positioned on the sea front and should be a go to place. Maybe we caught them on an off day but it seemed that as we ordered drinks they couldn’t be bothered with us 😞

A lovely 2 days stay at Hartwell House Spa. A beautiful house in exquisite grounds. The spa facilities are top notch and the treatments exceptional. If you book a massage, Christine is your girl! I asked for a deep tissue massage and got a deep tissue massage...that's rare! Beautiful accommodation and delicious food. We will be back!

Ended up here after a long walk and was left feeling lovely after good simple food done well (had the sausages n mash), good pint of proper ale from clean pipes and really nice servers who clearly genuinely cared about my experience. Atmosphere was nice too, seems to be a bit of a community pub with lots of laughter and friendliness, rather than groups keeping themselves to themselves.

Six of us went along and had a the taster menu. It was absolutely fantastic; one of the party didn't want pigeon so that was swapped out with no hassle and cheese substituted for the desserts for a diabetes sufferer and others. Food was lovely and Kerry's wine selection for the 'flight of wine' was enjoyed by all those who had it. Really enjoyable, informal evening with delicious food and wines. Thank you so much. We will be back!

Hubby wanted plaice with different accompaniments and they were very happy to oblige. Ambience is gorgeous. Overall a wonderful evening.

We had a late lunch here of cod and chips (lite). Excellent service, food and ambience. Reasonably priced too and just the right amount of portions. The wonderful tartar sauce is made inhouse and highly recommended. The staff were polite, welcoming and attentive. Really enjoyed the food and I will return. If you're in Ryde, IOW, and craving fish and chips go here. I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
