The White Hart in Chiltern

We visited tonight for a meal as a couple but have visited The White Hart many times and every time the food is always delicious! We’ve had family meals, lunches, snacks and Sunday lunches in the past and all have been delicious! The staff are lovely, so friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend you visit this lovely pub!

Top quality pub with great food. Don't miss the pie nights throughout the week! Two log burners on during the winter to give it a cosy feel

Style-wise, it's like an old fashioned drinking pub - but the hidden magic is the food!!! As pub dishes go, it doesn't get any better!! The owner/head chef is so nice and welcoming too. Great one to tie into a walk from Chesham/Ley Hill or Bovingdon!

Had Sunday lunch here again - food very good - service excellent and friendly - Need was cooked well and cauliflower chees was just as it should be

Lovely little pub, friendly welcome and delicious food. Would have liked more veggie options in mains but managed very well with a starter and a couple of sides ....and I'd hate to have missed out on their delicious onion rings! Definitely one to go back to.

Out for a celebration evening, 6 adults and one 8 year old. Nowhere in the area I was looking had a more interesting looking menu. The staff where great, welcoming, polite and attentive at exactly the right level. None of us could believe just how lovely the food was for a very unassuming, tucked away place. Perfectly executed traditional heart warming pub food. The balance they’ve achieved, needing to cater for sitting locals and tables for food, appears to work very well. A brilliant atmosphere and a real shame its not my local. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

My friends and I went here for Sunday Lunch and it did not disappoint. The menu gave a great selection of both roast and alternative options. One friend went for the marinated chicken burger - which was a great size, with the breast bigger than the bun! The rest of us had the roast - beef, chicken and vegetarian and all really enjoyed it. The roasties were beautifully crispy and the cauliflower cheese so very well done. We were too full for dessert unfortunately but they looked yummy!

Had a fabulous meal at the White Hart. The Smoked Mackrell Fish Cakes where the best I have eaten. We were made to feel so welcome. Most enjoyable evening.

Excellent food and atmosphere for Sunday lunch. The mushroom Wellington and trimmings was delicious. Will definitely recommend to others and shall be back again.

Absolutely excellent pub food and great attentive service. The place isn’t spectacular to look at so if that’s important to you, might not be your place. We came here yesterday for a late lunch, we wanted to try somewhere different as lots of the local pubs have been quite average these days. All of us, were extremely happy with the quality of the food and great service, sat outside in a lovely garden.

We visited on a Sunday lunch time with a group of 19 family members for a birthday celebration. The food was excellent and the service just perfect. What a lovely place and lovely people!

I’ve been using this pub for many years. It’s an atmospheric old country pub friendly, family run with roaring fires and kept as clean and sparkling as a new pin. It has a great garden for the summer. Their food is excellent and reasonably priced with great local beers and a good wine selection. What I had not experienced until today was their Sunday roast. Served by a professional and enthusiastic young staff it was just delicious from its crunchy roast potatoes, huge yorkshire pudding to the red cabbage hiding beneath the perfectly cooked joint. Perfect in every way!

We stopped during a walk for a drink on Sunday lunchtime and were given a courtesy bowl of chips! It was lovely and made us feel very welcome and ready for our return walk.

Visited early evening for a meal after an afternoon motorsport experience. Clientele and staff very friendly, with a diverse range of home made food on the menu. Food was all made from scratch so chef was easily able to handle a food allergy. Everything was piping hot, and really tasty, with good sized hearty portions. Good range of beers available. Would highly recommend.

Solo visit for my birthday. Very welcoming. Attentive service with very polite waiting staff. I believe one of the waitresses had only two weeks in service so training and selection is clearly of a very high standard. Starter, main and drinks all excellent. The only disappointment was that I didn’t have room for dessert. I’ll be back.

First visit to this restaurant based on previous reviews and had a lovely evening. I had the Soup of the day (Sweet Potato and Leek) as a starter which was delicious. Then my wife had the Battered cod and chips while I had the Vegetarian Cottage Pie. Both, again, were delicious. We finished off with the Apple and Plum Crumble and Salted Caramel Ice Cream, both great finishes to a delightful meal. The staff were great and very friendly. All in all, one of the best evenings out for a meal for quite a while. Will definitely be back.

My Dad booked this for his birthday dinner on a Sunday afternoon as a big group we were spoilt, well looked after, lots of parking and excellent food. Service was prompt and very happy to recommend

What an amazing place! Delicious Sunday roast, with a good local pint, along with superb service. The log fires added to the ambience - so welcoming and cosy. Nothing was too much trouble, including a takeaway crumble for dessert - I couldn’t manage it after such a fabulous main of roast pork and all the trimmings! We would highly recommend this absolute gem of a good traditional pub. We’ll be back!

A hidden gem in Buckinghamshire. Lovely staff that will even knock up a salad for you if it’s not on the menu, great quality food in a nice and cozy setting. Highly recommended!

We arrived as a party of four late evening and the staff were very accommodating. It was a great atmosphere and the food arrived fairly promptly and was excellent quality - we had the Fish and Chips, Cumberland Sausage and the Rib Eye steak. All the dishes were excellent and very well presented. We will definitely be returning to this pub/restauranr.

We were blown away with the hospitality and great service! Came in without reservations for a quick bite. We were promptly seated and offered both the Christmas as the regular menu. We went for the Cod Cakes and Bangers & Mash and both were absolutely delicious! Our host told us their Sticky Toffee Pudding is a favourite and now we know why. Definitely one of the best Sticky Toffee Puddings we ever had. The pub was a former cottage and they managed to keep that cozy cottage feel. Two wood fire places were on, which made it very Christmassy. We’ll hope to come back some time!

We havnt been here for a while and decided to try a late Sunday lunch - only slot we could get was 3 pm - fully expecting to get the dregs ! It was rammed - lunch was just great - roast beef not over cooked and food very hot - brilliant - the owner is the chef and the ladies serving are wonderful - Apparently they have 3 sittings on a Sunday - and serve 150 covers up till around 5pm - this is a very small pub 2 large log fires ! Please don’t go as we’ll not get a table next time !!! We’ve tried numerous pubs for Sunday lunch all around the area this is by far the best

Just ordered a roast and a pudding from the white heart and I can honestly say it was absolutely delicious. Everything cooked to perfection. The way the food was packed. Thank you so much! I have a feeling I might be ordering from here every week. 😂

Very pleased with an impromptu visit and was served a fresh and lovely pie. Service was lovely too. 3* for atmos' only because it was a bit quiet tonight.

This place was amazing. As soon as you walked in, the atmosphere was warming and welcoming. The service was second to none. We sat down and ordered the food. I went for the ribs, not my normal 1st choice (a burger is always haha!) But goodness me, they were delicious, the meat fell off the bones and then sides were delish, I really liked the feta cheese with lime n chilli. The others I was there with had fish n chips and the burger. Whilst we were waiting for the mains, we were presented with 3x ham hock n cheese crockets, WOW..... thank you!! Needless to say, not a scrap of food was left (except my bones) Thank you, I will be revisiting.

First time we'd ever been to this pub and it was absolutely excellent.

Nice little pub tucked away from the main roads. Friendly service and good food. My only complaint is that the dessert portions were miniscule and the dessert prices were way too high. A small ramekin of apple crumble and a small pot of custard was £7.50....literally two spoonfuls.

A meal for four with all courses well cooked and well presented- Pub atmosphere makes for a cosy evening on a dodgy summer night. Attentive staff make this a good reason to visit

Looking for an “out of London” pub for lunch today, giving the car a run. Booked this pub and what a find. Had pork belly and salt & pepper squid starters, Beef and ale pie + fish cake mains, cheesecake and crumble desserts. All fantastic with great service. The team were unflustered even when the wedding party arrived and the place was rammed. Well done!

Recommended! I was looking for a pub around Hemel and surroundings for proper food, and found it. The beef burger was outstanding!

Came here on Father’s Day for the first time as I’ve seen the amazing photos on their Facebook page. The food was nice but sadly not amazing and definitely didn’t look anything like the photos my roast dinner was lovely but the Yorkshire our was cold. Staff were friendly. The pub was nice and I would try it again but was just a little disappointed by our first visit.

Lovely sunny afternoon, nice beer garden, lovely sunny but quiet spot. Tables well spaced so you can have your own conversation. Attentive service and the food was really good.

Having just returned home after a 14 day touring holiday around the UK visiting many pubs and restaurants en route we decided that our best meal of the trip was at the White Hart. The food was delicious with a definite "home cooked" taste unlike the many places we tried with their Cash & Carry fayre or the brewery/chain supplied rubbish served in all their outlets from a central supplier. It is a clean, traditional UK Pub, obviously very family friendly (and animal too judging by the 2 dogs in at the time of our visit) with an large unpretentious fun play area for the kids. No sterile "Gastro Pub" atmosphere with architectural props from the auction house, poor staff training, and carboard food here, just a genuine local with good food, friendly efficient staff and a traditional pub atmosphere. We will return to support such a lovely family run business when in the area again (and of course enjoy their great food)

Was a random googled place to have some lunch after a driving experience nearby, so glad we picked The White Hart, staff were so friendly and helpful, great choice on the menu, food looked great when it came out and it was cooked amazingly well and was delicious and as we all had different meals every dish was cooked to perfection and can't wait to go back. Great disabled access for my grandad in a wheelchair. Overall it was a lovely place and great value with high standards. Even the person serving us brought out a pudding for all 5 of us to share as we were too full after our meals which was really nice of him. Recommend this place 100%

We eat out regularly and I can honestly say that our first visit last night was one of the best meals I have had. I had the lamb shank with cous cous and asparagus. Meat was cooked to perfection and the multitude of flavours of the dish was amazing. My partner went for the salmon and sweet potatoe curry and that's my dish next time. Service was great in this lovely pub.

Had a fantastic Sunday Roast for four of us today, served lovely and hot and a generous serving, very nicely cooked and with excellent service throughout. Would thoroughly recommend.

We were a large party of 13 for Sunday lunch. The roast dinners were all lovely, fresh vegetables and potatoes, meat cooked perfectly. The service was also perfect considering how busy they were and our large group. The staff couldn't have been more polite or helpful - thank you!

The White Hart recomended by friends , a bit out of the way and wouldn't call it an attractive building - apparently used as the unofficial officers mess when Bovingdon was active ?. The pub is tiny and relies on a tented outbuilding sometimes (really)....

An excellent menu with some items interestingly unusual for a country pub. Excellent preparation, attentive service and actual hot just cooked food. Decent prices, comfortable warm fires, not posh, just very good.

Popped in for a light bite and a beer. Brilliant service and a 5 spice duck salad that was amazing! Sat in the lovely garden, looked after well and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely be back!
