Came in to say "Goodbye" to the landlady. They're closing down. Awful sad... end of an era. The food was typical pub grub, with a twist, so it was tasty. Plenty of it. They had a good range of ales.

Beautiful locally raised Aylesbury duck. We are a walking group so, as there were to be 14 of us, we booked ahead. We enjoyed a sunny local walk to build our appetite. We’d booked half duck meals, it was fabulous and lots of it!! Great value, friendly service. Couldn’t fault it.

Parked in the car park for an early morning walk. After walking through the valley and woods and encounters with roe deer and badger! we returned for lunch. Excellent food, hearty cheese and cheese/ham toasties and sausages in fresh baguette were enjoyed immensely. Best sausages I've had in a baguette!! Excellent service from a very friendly and hospitable landlady. Planning to return next week.

What a lovely pub! Traditional and cosy setting served by warm welcoming staff and a very hospitable landlady. We all had the Sunday lunch which we all agreed was delicious. It was so nice (and a rarity these days) to enter an independent pub serving homemade delicious food, run by a friendly landlady. Thank you for a lovely lunch!

We walked over for lunch (on a weekday) with a hungry teenager and our dog. Apart from the steep hill we had to climb to get there (!) it was a very pleasurable experience. They were unusually busy for a weekday (so we were told by the landlady) so we had to wait a while for our food, but she gave us due notice and we weren’t in a rush, so it was no problem. Our dog was very welcome and they had a big bowl of water for him, so he was happy. The menu was simple but effective... good pub grub, nothing fancy but all well cooked and extremely reasonably priced. As far as we could gather this is a small free house run by the owners, and I would say they deserve our support. It’s nothing fancy but they work really hard and do a good job. We will definitely go back.

We were visiting the area and decided to stop here for a weekday evening meal. There were a few locals in and although it has the feel of a pub for locals we were made to feel very welcome. Our meals were delicious, were cooked from fresh and served piping hot. The lady serving behind the bar could not have done enough for us and we both thoroughly enjoyed our brief evening at this lovely country pub. Thank you :-)

We visited The Bell after riding the Chinnor Railway; one thing let it down, the food. Atmosphere with a live jazz band was fantastic, the ambiance was great the staff were overworked and it seemed only 2 were serving front of bar, long wait for drinks then. The food menu was terrible, but we were told there is a BBQ outside, so I asked for a burger and chips. Now I know it’s my fault for not looking at the food on the BBQ, and for me visualizing at the least a quarter pounder in my head. What came was sorry state of cold chips with a children’s burger, oh how we laughed. This is not the place for food on Easter Monday.

If you find yourself in this neck of the woods one evening looking for a place for a week dinner and a good pint then look no further than The Bell. I came here on a business trip, and after a foul day and staying at perhaps the worst hotel I've ever stayed at I took myself for a stroll to find somewhere other than the god-awful restaurant in the hotel my work had booked for me. I stumbled across The Bell and upon noticing the free WIFI slipped in for a pint in an attempt to locate another restaurant near. However, luck have it they were serving food, and good food by the looks of it. As a vegetarian it is often difficult for me to find suitable food in a pub. However, they had many options available to me. I chose the sweet potato cakes and, although it took a while to come, that meal immediately changed the atmosphere of my trip and cheered me up beyond doubt. Think winter holidays at home, think one of your mum's classics, think a hearty, warming dish that'll put any bad day to rights. I have to say that the dinner I had here was one of the best pub dinners I've had in a long time. The atmosphere was snug and local, and the staff were more than happy to help me. If I lived closer i'd be coming back here time and time again. It helped soften the blow for a night in the terrible hotel. A very receptive pub with a charming display of toby jugs. I'll be coming straight back if i'm ever in the area.

It was a limited menu I guess due to the number of people eating at the same time but really good all the same, main eaten the murderous story continued, each table had input from their character and a lot of dum dum dum dums were said...... we learnt who dun it whilst enjoying puddings (there had been a mishap with the freezers which meant frozen desserts were not available, but not a big problem for us diners) all in all a good evening with good food would definitely go again and would recommend.

My wife, who does not like pink roast beef, was well catered for as was our friends. Fair to say we all enjoyed our food. The Bell Inn is on the outskirts of Chesham but well worth the effort to find and visit. The host, a very pleasant French lady, ensured that we were satisfied with our visit. We rocked up here at 2.30pm after having been to a wedding the night before. We asked if they were still serving food and the lovely french lady said that they were but as they had been so busy she wasn't sure they had any left. It was rammed. She said the chef could probably do a roast chicken dinner and that she would check. Came back and yes there was only a roast chicken lunch available so we ordered that (running out of food in my mind is a good sign as it means it's probably freshly bought). It took a little while to come but it was certainly worth the wait. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the potatoes were lovely - crisp on the outside, fluffy inside. The staff were unbelievably accommodating and helpful (despite being a little worse for wear from their anniversary party the night before) and the service impeccable - wanted more gravy - got more gravy no worries! We paid £17.20 for the 2 dinners and 2 lime and sodas and have no complaints at all for that. Yes the decor is not 'trendy' but it's certainly good enough for us as they clearly spend the care and attention (and money) on the food which I would far rather. Top marks to a clearly hard working set of folk. Felt totally welcome. Would definitely recommend and probably best to book. Support local independent pubs I say.

Me and my other half decided to go out for a meal at our "new local" we both had starters and a main, the starters were both salad based, mine was covered in oil / dressing with a small pool in the bottom of the bowl, the other just looked like old leftovers scraped out of a bag.Oh well on to the mainsFish & chips Spiced lamb burger cheese & chips ect My fish was pure grease, if I leave anything on my plate I'm usually poorly! On this occasion I ate maybe half. The lamb burger was served under about a lb of cheese and cut to fit in a "hot dog style" roll, it just looked awful. The pub has so much potential and the 2008 award is so far from reality nowadays. The place looks and feels rundown I had to pull my hand off the table we were at as it had stuck to the beer/grime.Not impressed.

Having just moved into the area we decided to go for a Sunday lunch as it was close by. I can honestly say it was the worst Roast beef and trimmings I have ever eaten and expensive to boot. The beef was over cooked and stringy and it was swimming in gravy. Why they didn't put a gravy boat on the table is beyond me. Neither were there any condiments and we had to ask for mustard. The roast potatoes were soggy and the vegetables over cooked. A complete waste of the best part of £30. Abysmal. Avoid.

Cycled past many times looked v nice so decided to pop in for a drink 2 weeks ago. Barmaid v chatty good feel about the place lighting perfect candles on nice background music. You could tell the lady working cared about the business! After this visit we decided to go back last night for a meal. So different no smile or hello when walked in 2 team working just didn’t look happy actually looked like they had fallen out. Sat at table one of them brought menu then we chose a bottle of wine which was nice and came quick. We then sat there 15 mins before getting up and asking if we ordered at the bar or were they coming over.one if them came over and took the order, food came around 30 mins later. The food was ok but pies could have been bigger with more filling. After finishing nobody came and asked if we would like a dessert in the end I had to get up and ask for the bill. We then left feeling v disappointed all round. Such a nice first visit what happened why such a let down. With prices high and pub in a small village out of the way it needs to be good every time not every other for it to survive in this tough environment. Not sure if will come back again 🤔
