Wagon & Horses in Ashford

Some of my family and I visited here for an evening meal. Great food, good sized portions. Nice atmosphere. I had the steak and kidney pudding off the specials board. Homemade, delicious, and huge! With loads of gravy and buttery mash. Really enjoyed it. We would certainly revisit.

We stopped for a quick drink before attending a crafting course nearby, early Friday evening. The pub was lovely and welcoming and the staff were friendly, smiled and had a sense of humour so we didn't feel like outsiders. The prices were reasonable and the menu looked so good we are planning to stop by for some rabbit pue in the future! Lovely place and in a lovely setting with an immaculate beer garden too.

Had a Sunday roast here, went for the trio. Absolutely exceptional, service was great and everything was reasonably priced. Well recommended.

From the moment we walked in greeted with a smile all staff are really friendly which is becoming rare these days. Good quality food and good specials menu. All food was good quality with good portions. Really really well run business and obvious to see why they were so busy. Thankyou for a lovely lunch.

What a lovely place. Beautiful inside and out and such a friendly team of staff. They met our dog Buffy and loved her - nothing was too much trouble and we will be back again soon. The gardens are splendid also. A hidden gem. Enjoy.

Absolutely fantastic visit from walking in the door until leaving. Super friendly and welcoming staff everyone of them. Food was absolutely amazing, great portions and tasty. The pub itself is spotless clean and omg the garden!! Stunning. A definite go to if you're in the area and worth a drive even if you're not in the area. Couldn't fault our visit not even a little bit. Everything was 10/10. We most definitely will be going again soon

Fantastic pub in the Kent countryside. Found it by mistake driving past. A few drinks in the pub and evening dinner, food was great and we were looked after by the lovely lady Sam. Campsite attached to the pub perfect and quiet with a few electric hook ups if you need it. A great place to unwind and relax for a night or two if, like us, you're travelling around Kent. Always nice to meet nice people. Will definitely be back.

Stood there with the camper for one night. Food in the pub was excellent.

Very welcoming pub. You don't feel dismissed, but rather welcomed. The beer is tasty, the food is excellent and the field behind the pub is perfect for an overnight stay in a camper on the way north. Plus, the pub is actually outside, which adds a special touch to the ambience. The staff is also very friendly. Completely satisfied. Fresh water and electricity are available for campers.

We came across this pub on our travels and I have to see how lucky we were. We were met by friendly, smiley staff, the food was amazing…..compliments to the chef! and there was a lovely atmosphere You must try the steak and kidney pudding Just like your mother would have made!! Thank you

The Olde Gits Society weekly adventure took us to the Wagon & Horses once again. It is one of our favourite family run pub restaurants. We book in advance as sometime there can be quite a few diners. The menu required advance choices booking due to numbers which I emailed across and it was arranged perfectly at service time. The Beers are always good here with some variety for choice. Beautiful garden also, as is the very well kept food and drink areas. excellent toilets. Outside smoking area for our Kiwi Dave the puffer. Service at Bar and table is first class. What more can we wish for but an afternoon nap at home.

Family run down to earth traditional pub, gardens are well kept, decking area is clean and tidy the food isn't fancy prices just proper traditional food sourced locally and last but not least all the staff were fantastic!

Popped in here for lunch - what a lovely pub, and the gypsy tart was soooo good, we bought a whole one to take home!

We were there following a family memorial service in Charing. Lovely garden and the food was very good.

We went for lunch last Saturday, sat in the fabulous garden with our dogs. The food was delicious especially the steak and kidney pudding! Staff all very friendly and welcoming.

Lovely rural setting with great woodland walks, which are accessed directly behind the pub. Very dog friendly in bar area and garden! Staff were friendly and welcoming. The Sunday menu was varied, with the usual roasts, burgers, salads and fish dishes. I had the cheese burger, but wasn't terribly impressed with its flavour. Will probably visit again when in the area.

We stayed at The Wagon & Horses for a Motorhome stop over very good facilities . The meals we had were absolutely fabulous and home cooked i had the belly of pork in hoisin sauce it was tasty and the pork melted in your mouth. my husband had homemade steak & kidney pudding the meat was lovely . staff were welcoming and the pub was modern inside & clean. We wish you was nearer to where we live we diffidently would be in regularly. What a great chef !! Thank you.

Came for Sunday Lunch and the group had a mix of dinners ranging from Traditional Sunday Lunch to Scampi to Burgers. All looked and tasted great with large portions and great flavours. The Large Sunday Lunch was as described and each of the 3 meats were really good and loads of crispy roasties. Will be back and not surprised booking is advised.

A proper pub with good food at sensible prices. Unlike many pubs which have become pretentious, you get decent portions, too. Friendly staff keep the beer in perfect condition. A real treasure. I haven't stayed there but visit for Vintage Motorcycle Club meetings. The pies are excellent, proper pies not stew in a dish with pastry on top. Fish is cooked to perfection.

Staff were superb, we only popped in for a few drinks on the way home from shopping, but would definitely return to sample the food as what was being taken past us looked lovely and reasonable prices too.

I’m not one to leave reviews BUT I felt like the Wagon and Horses deserved my review. !! I stumbled across this lovely pub on the way back from Charing one day and I have to say itreally is a lovely family run pub. The staff are very welcoming, the food is amazing and the service they provide is 10/10. It has such a beautiful outdoor seating area for those spring and summer months for you to enjoy a drink or food outside and its dog friendly pub!! This is now my go to pub for lunch / dinner when I’m passing (which is quiet often) I would highly recommend the Wagon & Horses if you looking for a nice country pub with friendly service and amazing food.

Eaten here 4-5 times now in the last 6 months. Food is superb, always very well cooked and reasonable portions. The staff make the setting, all very welcoming and attentive. Used this pub as a location for two separate family visits to Kent and both sides of the families have walked out very pleased

Had a very enjoyable evening with great friends. Friendly and efficient service. Food was excellent quality. Very tasty and some super home made dishes. Poached Salmon for the wives and sausage and mash & crispy chicken for the hubbies. Then pudding, hmmmm. Brioche bread & butter pudding, Gypsey tart, sticky toffee cheesecake. Good size portion and good value too. Good parking, very clean. Lovely atmosphere. Whole heartedly recommended!!

We visited here for a Sunday roast , friendly staff and atmosphere, clean and efficient . I opted for the roast turkey and my partner the beef , nice meal, just a shame the yorkshires were not homemade or the stuffing . Also didn’t like the sauces served in plastic pots The dessert I chose was the cheesecake which was blonde and was so very good Thank you Love that it’s dog friendly too

Freinds recommended this pub, and we are so glad we listened. My husband had a lrg roast dinner whilst I just had a normal size, it turned out I had to help him out lol, he was very full up when we finished. I will certainly recommend this to other freinds. A good old country public house, great staff and beer. As yet to try the food but it's a popular eating house, will dive in for Xmas lunch!

Sadly the veg in my Roast dinner was still frozen with ice on it. They apologised and gave my a new plateful of roast, which was lovely and hot.

My friend and I called in on the off chance for lunch but was fully booked. Couldn't book the day before as it was closed. We were disappointed 😞

We came today with my parents to have lunch. Very helpful, friendly and attentive staff. The service was very good. Food was fantastic. We all had the mushroom starter which was excellent. My mum and I had the salmon for main which was cooked perfectly. My dad had roast turkey and my partner the large mixed roast. They both commented on how well the meat was cooked. For pudding mum had gypsy tart, we both had chocolate fudge cake and my dad the bread and butter pudding, all delicious. Really reasonably priced as well. Will definitely be returning.

I use this pub now and then to meet friends for lunch. It'a a little out of my way but it's easy to find and well worth a slight detour. The food is excellent and the service friendly and efficient.

Myself and my husband and our dog came for a Sunday roast after it being recommended on more than one occasion ,staff are very attentive and polite very quick service food was lovely and the gipsy tart was amazing.the reason for 4 star is only a little thing we prefer gravy in a little jug and homemade Yorkshire puddings would be a bonus but apart from that food and drinks all lovely we will come again.

Cannot rate rooms as i did not stay here ,but the food is of excellent quality, the staff are very friendly. The pub restaurant area has a brilliant atmosphere .

A large cycling group brilliantly looked after on the trek from London to Dover. Great wholesome grub, quick and smiley service, and far more tolerance than I would have filling up 38 cyclists water bottles!

Lovely pub, great staff , service and food

I have visited many times and the food, beer, service and ambience are superb. Most mains are served with a selection of fresh, seasonal vegetables and the seafood platter ( raw or fried) is a thing of beauty. The prices are very reasonable.

Plenty of parking, wheelchair access, child and dog friendly. Food was well presented and tasty, plenty of choice and good value, service was good and staff were welcoming.

Was passing and saw lovely looking pub,hubby popped in to see if dog friendly as we have a poorly Jack Russell with large tumour ,it was so settled in and friendly staff a lady made fuss of poppy and gave us our menus, was lunchtime so opted for a salad ,and beef baguette,side of chips to share, came back no beef so had tuna , very tasty ,was seated near bar and there seem to be problems with card machine and giving people wrong bills, we finished meal and I popped to loo,hubby paid on my card putting on tip gave me receipt and I put in bag we thanked and left . Next day while lunching in Sandwich,hubby remarked how much cheaper it was for our lunchtime meal there,so I looked at receipt for previous day only to find we had also been given wrong receipt and paid for someone’s sirloin steak and salad ,and wine meals , to far away to return but so disappointed that it cost almost double it should have by staff not concentrating on there jobs.

First visit at short notice last night, Saturday evening . As soon as we arrived we commented on what a lovely atmosphere this pub has ! So friendly and welcoming. Our food was delicious, piping hot and tasty and lots of choice on the menu . If you are lucky enough to visit you must have the gypsy tart , the best I have ever had !!! Can’t wait to return

It was a nice place to eat with family and being able to take the dog was a real bonus, only downside there was much choice for vegetarians. I had a burger which was too spicy but it was this or a ploughman's, chocolate cake was very tasty.

We visited the Wagon and Horses on a whim whilst travelling home and thought the place looked great as the car park was busy. We were greeted by two lovely ladies serving behind the bar, but had to wait sometime before we were seated. The menu looked great but the food received was poorly made and extremely overpriced for its quality. My husband ordered a burger and it was advertised as coming with “cheddar” but when the burger arrived it had that plastic type cheese in it. The chips were obviously frozen and didn’t taste nice at all and our waitress obviously didn’t want to be there. Overall a poor experience for a pricey meal, definitely wouldn’t return.

Food was amazing. Great variety and quality produce. Every member of staff was attentative.

My son and I were coming back from Reculver beach and were starving, we saw this pub and pulled over into a spacious carpark. In all a really decent pub, service was excellent, barmaid comely and competent, the seafood was fresh and tasty. The £13 burger was a bit disappointing, which is why I've dropped a star, I was expecting better, it reminded me of a Weatherspoons burger. And it was advertised as having cheddar in it, when in fact it was a square of processed 'cheese'. The two pints of Harvey's Bitter was superb, and they had a good selection of ales. I'd definitely visit again with my family. Keep up the good work and maybe up your burger game, I'd rather pay more for better quality.

Went for lunch today (17/05/2023) with our friends Lin and Mike who live nearby. We are also Lyn and Mike and we live near Dartford. It's a truly lovely country pub/restaurant with amazing, happy staff welcoming us. So pleased we booked as it was already filling up with hungry diners. The ladies had pie, Mike had fish and chips and I had the Big Boys Pudding! Yes I got through it and was checked on by the lovely staff. All meals were delicious and more than enough...but we did have 4xSweets after. A very pleasant lunchtime with our dear friends. We shall all definitely return as we recommend this delightful place to all. A very big Thank You to the staff. Mike Two.

Really good oldy world pub, but sells great food. Biggest problem is drinking. You must drive to it, or use the campsite attached to it.

I visited recently with some friends for lunch. This was my first visit to the Wagon & Horses. I had the five bean chilli & rice dish, my wife had fish. others in our group had the Pork and Hoisin, which I'm told was heavenly and really tasty and - I hope to return and have this sometime. the venue is dog friendly and a good selection of ales and other drinks. the decor is really interesting themed around wagons and horses. I hope to return again soon.
