Silcocks Farm Shop in Ashford

Came to revisit previous colleagues for a cappuccino and a slice of cake made by the talented young kitchen assistant, Catherine, helping out during the holidays!! I was certainly not disappointed with the quality of the cake, perfect and pardon the pun but her cakes are selling like hot cakes!! Everyone in the cafe and shop are always very friendly and had a great time when working there but it was time for me to move on. Great to see some loyal customers too who I hope to see again in my new place of work soon xx

Visited with a friend. We sat outside - a lovely courtyard seating ares where we had a pot of tea, delicious cheese scones and orange cake. Very enjoyable and relaxing.

We have just had an amazing traditional turkey Christmas lunch, very generous portion, extremely well cooked followed by a very tasty Christmas pudding served with brandy source. Highly recommend, excellent value for money. We often enjoy a circular walk from Tenterden and stop at this lovely farm shop cafe/restaurant where we always find the staff very welcoming and friendly.

Friends had told us that they had a great breakfast at Silcocks Farm Shop and suggested we should pop in and give it a try. Firstly it is a beautiful place with plenty of character and is very nicely presented and maintained with a lovely atmosphere. The shop has plenty of great farm produce for sale at very reasonable prices, we only had a quick look around but what we did see was all high quality, maybe when we have more time we will pop in again and have a proper look. The breakfast was delicious and service was exceptional and the price was very reasonable. I can definitely recommend the full English breakfast! Overall 10 out of 10 and look forward to visiting again.

Great farm shop and cafe, sells lots of local produce. To be fair you could probably get most ingredients for most meals here. Nice courtyard to sit and have food or drinks. There is also a fantastic sports massage therapist on site which I have used.

First time we had been here through a recommendation. First impressions was good. Nice selection of produce. Service was good. We ordered two homemade sausage rolls. They were microwaved and so hot we had to wait to eat them and were also hard on the edges. For £6 each they were very disappointing. Not a great first time experience.

Called in for a coffee before going for a walk in the adjacent countryside. Very friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of seating inside (not dog friendly) and outside (dog friendly), with some of the outdoor seating being under cover in case it's raining. The coffee was good and, although we didn't have any food this time, we have on previous occasions and, then, the food was as good as the coffee.

Open Farm Sunday 23 was a great free day out. A guided tractor trailer ride showing all the fields where all the different animals graze. Was able to see the cows being milked. The farm opened up to see how they produce food. The Farm shop and cafe was good. A enjoyable day out.

The pork I bought from you was absolutely delicious. It tasted as it used to when we raised our own pigs 50 years ago I can’t wait to try some more of your meat

Maybe I visited too late in the day? Because when entering the cafe we were greeted immediately and asked what we would like; at this stage I couldn’t even see what was on offer. I was advised cold drinks were in the lower counter, which made me feel like this was all was on offer at this time; it was around 3pm. I also felt pressured into actually buying a drink. She wasn’t rude, but I felt rushed. The shop was nice; it’s small, but if you’re local or passing, it’s handy to pick up a few items. The ice cream was tasty - although whoever labels them needs to check their dating, mine said 6/9/2022- my friends was the later batch number so I trusted this was just a typo.

What a hidden treasure. Lovely breakfast served by friendly staff. Farmhouse stocked with excellent meat and vegetables etc. Quite popular so booking would be sensible.

What a find!! A fantastic cafe, farm shop and butchers. The food is amazing and all of the staff are so helpful and attentive. My group of friends and I have been very well looked after. I love this place ❤️

We arrived Friday morning, the lady in the cafe told us she was short staffed so we were expecting a long wait as there were lots of people outside eating as the sun was out. We were pleasantly surprised to have our full English breakfast order taken by a very friendly waitress. Breakfast was delicious obviously all locally sourced sausage’s, bacon, eggs. As well as hash brown, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, and brown toast. The best breakfast I’ve had in years, thank you ladies.

Lovely farm shop selling local produce and their own meat and cheeses. The cafe here is very cosy and also has a lovely outside seating area.

We had called in for a coffee before going for a walk but, when it started to rian, we decided to stay for lunch. Very friendly staff and our lunch was very tasty. My wife is Gluten Free but she was able to find something which suited her diet. I can certainly recommend the sausage roll with salad. There's seating inside and outside (we were outside as that is dog friendly) but it can get very busy at lunch time so recommend booking.

Stopped for coffee and cake mid bike ride. Lovely chocolate brownie and coffee. Plenty of places to put bike and didn't need to worry about locking it up as everyone really friendly and other cyclists around.

Very nice place, the coffee was strong, the cake was delicious, we'll definitely come back.

Staying close by we popped into the cafe here a couple of times for super cooked breakfasts served by the lovely friendly staff. We will be returning soon.

Love this place. Amazing butchers and farm shop.

I visit here regularly for a nice lunch I just have a sandwich with a coffee. Service is good, produce is lovely and because I come on my own it’s very nice to watch the humdrum of others and not feel isolated. I will need to try some hot food. Shame it’s not open on a Sunday

Lovely, busy atmosphere, really good food and service. Lamb Tagine to die for!!!!! Plus devine lemon and lavender cake 😋all washed down with a crisp glass of chapel down rose wine. What could be nicer.

I have used Silcocks for years now and I am always impressed with the quality of the produce avaliable. The meat products are amazing value for money (most of meat is organic and reared on site) and the variety is far better than other places. Well stocked with fresh fruits and veg and all the other products you expect to find in a good farm shop. The staff are always friendly helpful and knowledgeable and are always on hand to help if you require. The cafe is a lovely spot to get food and drinks especially after a walk around the local area. The open days are brilliant for all the family too. Try for yourselves you won't be disappointed

Bad signpost for venue ,car park muddy field no prices on food ,2 coffes and 2 cakes £12 its just your average overpriced farmshop much the same as Salts farm Rye been there got the teeshirt nowhere near as good as made out to be not for us mad pricing putting us off.

Good farm shop with local produce and their own butchers selling organic meat. There is a cafe on site for drinks, cakes and light lunches. Not the cheapest but great quality and worth the little extra.

Top Quality & Sustainable farm produced food. This is proper farming and it shows. Milk is off the scale and produce is amazing... I won't go anywhere else.

I visited Silcocks for the first time today and was extremely impressed initially by the beautiful and tranquil setting! In front of the cafe/shop the open court yard had numerous seating options with/without sun shades including some covered alcove areas where you can sit and keep cool on a sunny day like today! The ploughmans lunch I ordered included 3 cheese varieties, a delicious chutney, some beautiful ham, garlic bread and a freshly prepared salad. The meal was absolutely delicious!!! In addition to the wonderful cafe there was a superb farm shop offering a range of plants and a variety of locally sourced products! I would highly recommend Silcocks and am looking forward to visiting there again!

Met some friends for coffee and had lovely time in friendly atmosphere. The scone was very good and the shop was interesting with fresh produce. There is a car park so easy to park and a ramp up to shop so easy access for anyone disabled. They sell a good range of plants.

Tucked away on the edge of Tenterden is a little gem of a farm shop and café. The meat you are able to purchase is top quality and the butcher is old school and knows what he is talking about. The cafe is brilliant, choice is small but quality is good. Cakes are beautiful, both to look at but most importantly in taste. Lots of room outside to distance from others. Locals and cyclists (one group from Croydon to Hastings!) seem to be the variety of visitors when I was there. Good plant stall and healthy.

Came here after a walk through the fields. Had a delicious tart and salad. Very peaceful and relaxing.

Away from the hussell and bussell this is lovely spot to break a walk in the country.

Had afternoon tea with a fruit scone. The scone was delightful and fluffy, served with the right amount of jam and lashings of cream. Service was great and the staff were very friendly.

This is a lovely venue and lends itself beautifully to the outdoor setting. Good coffee at the cafe, and lovely smells coming from the lunch menu and excellent organic vegetable, bread, meat and dairy products at the farm shop . A hidden gem!

If you are looking for a fancy, modern farm shop selling food from all over the world, then you're in the wrong place. This is a traditional, countryside-focused shop that sells produce off the land. The way it should be. The meat is always great, and the offcuts brilliant for the dogs. There is so little waste, the bones are even sold for broth. The veg seems to last a long time, and they have a great selection of local wines. Will be visiting a lot more often going forwards.

Lovely cafe serving a good cooked breakfast with excellent sausages from the on site butcher. Breakfast for 2 including coffees and juices cost £25. Service was great and all staff very friendly. Plenty of parking though it is in a field so could get muddy in bad weather. Would visit again.

Favorite cafe and shop. Love to go there for a meal or a cream tea and coffee. Great fast and friendly service! Highly recommend

I went here for breakfast and bought some food from here a few weeks ago. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and the food was beautiful. Picture taken after we ate, very satisfied faces. Yum yum. Look forward to coming here again.

Friendly staff good food nice afternoon teas ( we do like these) uncomplicated service . Now and again we have a meal but sometimes just pop in for a coffee and sit outside as they are dog friendly. Meat and produce are very good although more expensive than tescos the quality is great. It's nice to see the it is open again after lockdown.

This is a hidden gem at the back of Tenterden. It is a small farm shop with amazing service and lovely food. Don’t miss the the lemon drizzle cake!

Silcocks is our local farm shop, not only do they have a selection of great produce, locally made bread but the butcher’s selection of home reared beef is amazing along with the local lamb. We use the shop often and during the Covid19 pandemic they made a fantastic anniversary cake for us (organised via phone by family) which was SO good my mother organised a second smaller cake for our son a week later. The cafe also serves up a great cup of coffee and the breakfasts have been great.

We went to have a look at this farmshop, rather underwhelming with small selection of produce.The vegetables were dried-up and not fresh.We brought some scones and after returning home we noticed neither they or the cake had use-by dates on them. The scones were several days old!!I thought it was a LEGAL requirement to label foodstuffs in this way?

A great farm run shop, The meat is always excellent and the service offered by the butchers is friendly and helpful (which it has to be as I am a vegetarian so am lost without their help!) My sons eat all the meat!

We went for Christmas lunch to Silcox this year and it was delicious. Excellent flavours. Very friendly service and warm atmosphere. We'll be back next year definitely.

Lovely setting, very good food and plenty of it. Ladies were really friendly and helpful. The whole area was lovely and clean. Unfortunately came on a very wet day, so couldn't enjoy the location. Would definitely go again and recommend.

If you buy meat from here you'll never want to buy it from anyone else ever again! We discovered it on open farm day. Made a special trip today from Sevenoaks to Ashford to stock up the freezer. Amazing prices for such high quality.Organic free range meat is usually roo expensive for a lot of people but that's not the case at Silcock farm hence we made a special journey. Had a cream tea while we were there. Lovely little cafe /tea room. The lovely young guy on the meat counter is very passionate about the meat they sell and very knowledgeable too. We've bought some of their home made cheese. Can't wait to try it. Also got milk and cream from their cows. Highly recommend. Well worth going.

This was our first visit to Silcocks Farm Shop and Cafe but it won't be our last. We only had a coffee but it was served by very friendly staff in delightful surroundings. The coffee tasted good and was reasonably priced. Only coffee this time but we will be back for a meal!

As always lovely local produce, cooked to perfection, and eaten with relish. The quiches are delightful pastry perfect!

We visited for Open Farm Sunday, a special event to show the workings of an organic farm which was all very enjoyable. We saw how the farm makes cheese, milk, meat products etc, there were tractor rides and lots of lovely animals to see. The farm shop sells a wide range of products and staff are very friendly and helpful, the cafe is lovely. The cafe was very busy due to the open day, we enjoyed some really nice apple juice from Harrietsham, some local ice cream and of course wine from Chapel Down. If you are in the area it’s well worth a visit.

Haven’t been for to the Cafe for a while, it will sadly be sometime before I visit again.... I don’t like to give less than favourable reviews without just cause, so I have considered this one carefully before writing it.Visited the cafe while attending the Vintage Fair on the premises. The facility had other customers, but not unduly busy at the time. I decided to try the courgette and pesto scone and have a coffee .I was told to wait at the counter while the coffee was being made.I wasn’t asked if I would like my scone warmed up , so when I discovered it was been heated up in the microwave, I said I preferred mine unheated. I was told by the young lady at the counter that all scones were heated as they tasted better warmed up ... Be that as it may, I again advised that I preferred it unheated , the young man ( who was heating it up) took it out of the microwave ( after discussion with his colleague) and I was able to enjoy it at room temperature after bringing my tray to the table. The coffee was hot and a good flavour. These two young adults certainly seemed stressed, the reason why became clear when an older woman returned to the serving area and started to berate them within ear shot of the customers seated inside. This happened not only once but twice, as she returned a second time from elsewhere on the premises and started challenging the young lady . I found this to be very unprofessional and it would appear that she was under pressure for some reason but did not seem to be using her interpersonal management skills in the most appropriate way. Clearly she had issues which in my opinion should not have been aired so publicly. The young adults seemed pleasant and hard working but were definitely ‘ walking on eggshells ‘. Such a shame that the tension amongst the staff was palpable and made for a less than enjoyable experience.

Cosy venue to meet a friend for lunch! We had a lovely bowl of homemade soup with garlic croutons. The cakes looked wonderful..... next time! We will be back!
