Went here about a week ago and was a lovely experience. I was served by Paris and she was very sweet. She served with a smile and made sure we knew where to sit and where things were. Will definitely be here again

I went to the plough and barleycorn the other day and it was lovely. Casey is an amazing bar staff and is constantly helping others if they need the help, always looks out for the people she works with. Paris is lovely and extremely hard working and always tries her best to make us feel welcome

I went here a few days ago and the girl who served me was really welcoming. She told me her name was Sienna. Sienna was really lovely, she made me laugh and i could see she’s really hard working

Booked a table for 4, we weren’t greeted at the bar, In fact we were ignored, anyway we found our own table after battling through the gymnastics performance on the stage where we were sat! Anyway we pushed on! We ordered our food which was pretty mediocre, but we weren’t expecting the savoy! More annoyingly, is they were clearing our plates as they were finished, while others still eating, my partner was still chewing as the plate was whipped from under her! Then to our surprise, they decided they were closing at 9pm and we hadn’t even satisfied our sweet tooth’s, anyway can’t beat a McFlurry on the way home! On summary I won’t come back, and I won’t recommend! You live and you learn!

We eat in this place on a regular basis and honestly love being here. The food is delicious (the chefs, Matt and Gary always follow my food requests for my picky autistic children. Nothing is too much trouble) and the staff are really lovely young ladies. Casey and Sienna are lovely polite ladies, very down to earth and real. They always serve you with a smile and make you feel like you're among friends. 100% recommend.

Found this place on Google & decided to give it a try. The pub was rather quiet which was nice as we had our two dogs with us. It was fast service from beginning to end. Staff were lovely & attentive. Also, great prices.

The workers are really friendly by asking how is your food and lovely to have a chat to . This probably was one of my greatest burgers I’ve had in a long time and that garlic cheesey bread was superb must recommend going especially with the family.

Food was lovely but if you like or if you don't mind a bit of noise from burly lads fair enough but think if there's a separate side to the bar i think you would definitely be on a winner xxx

Wow!!!!! My family and I came here for Sunday lunch and the whole experience was fantastic the food was amazing and great value for money the roast potatoes and the meat was top class, my wife couldn’t get over the size of the Yorkshire pudding it nearly filled the plate the front of house staff were very efficient and very helpful and I would recommend the roast dinners to anyone we will be going back that’s for sure. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful afternoon

Food was good on Saturday, much better than the last time we went.

The Plough is local to us to visit and the food was lovely. We had a reserved table with no problems and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The landlords are very approachable, they always aim to please.

Nice little pub with a nice pub garden. Didn't eat just had a couple of beers but will definitely be back for food soon.

Firstly every drink we asked for was unavailable or sold out so we tried to order a lager mixed with Coke. (Same as lager shandy but mixes with Coke instead of lemonade) The lady serving originally said she couldn't do that as Coke is only sold in pints! Manager came out with a smaller glass for Coke but said they couldn't do half a Coke and lager together but had to order the 2 seperately in 2 half pint glasses and pour it into a pints glass ourselves! Does this make sense to you? Why couldn't they mix it together for us?Shocking service! Why was there such an issue?

Visited this establishment with the intention to book a table for my coming birthday when I arrived was told it would be 40 minute wait for food I ordered a jacket potato when it eventually arrived it was still stone cold complained chef very rude got a refund and left so glad I sampled the food before I booked a table for 14 needless to say I won't be returning.

The whole experience was worth the trip from East Meon to Waterlooville. The atmosphere was good, pleasant and clean. Amazing food,had a main course and pudding. Staff were friendly and excellent, with great service. Compliments to the chef as well, who also interacted with me and the rest of my guests. You cannot go wrong staying here for food, friendly staff and a nice clean pub. No faults in any aspects of the visit. So good we come back a 2nd time on the 14th September, as we knew we would have a good experience, with service and the food.

Warm welcome, lovely food, and we all enjoyed our meals, and the desserts were good as well. It's worth a visit and we came back a second time during our holiday for another meal.

Our second Sunday roast here, absolutely delicious, both occasions you haven't let us down. We will certainly be back.

The staff make you feel so welcome, it’s like the local you’ve never been to, we’ve been looking for a place to go to since we’ve moved to Waterlooville, We have finally found it. the the bar staff are brilliant, the food is great and the young girls that look after the tables and collect the glasses are top-notch. We will definitely be back.

We came for roast dinner and I have to say that we were both impressed with the quality of the food and especially the value for money. So much so that we’re back again this week.

Value for money was OK - but wasn't overly impressed. Under 5s pasta was the same size as adult lasagne which was bizarre, left hungry. Salad on side of lasagne was all wilted. Upgraded hunters chicken but when it came out it was missing the pulled pork. Raised with the kitchen and chef said "it wasn't on the ticket?". Surely the chef should know what the upgraded dish has on it? Pulled pork was then brought out separately but felt like meat had been microwaved and then mixed with bottled BBQ sauce - not good. Atmosphere wise - it's clearly a 'local boozer' with food being an after thought.

We went here to eat after going to Hayling island with our teenager and 2 dachshunds. The team were brilliant and incredibly helpful and the food was hands down the best we've eaten whilst we have been away and I would even go as far to say ever. If we come back to the area we would 100% go back. Such a lovely, welcoming place to eat or drink.

Had a wine there was horrible, landlady refused to replace, attitude stank! Will not be returning

Well, we booked a table to celebrate our engagement. We are getting on a bit, and having children it's hard to get time alone, especially eating *mini chip thieves* . So, booked a table to two at lunch time (we are in bed snoring by 8pm so a daytime date was perfect). Picked out my dress, and phone rings. "we are sorry to inform you the kitchen will be closed" ......Jesus, a once in a lifetime opportunity and it gets cancelled! Just our luck. To be fair, the lady was very apologetic and explained the situation well. We had a lovely lunch at that 'everyone knows the name' cheap place and headed home. We didn't actually get to the plough and barleycorn. Sad time!

Tried out the plough for the first time in years, new chef Dan is amazing I used to enjoy his food in the woodpecker so I’ll be coming back now he’s here! All the bar and waiting staff were super friendly and polite too. Lovely pub!

The food was fantastic, very happy with the service.

It was pre covid since we last visited this pub , and vowed we would not return because of the poor food and service !!! This said today we went back and were pleasantly surprised , friendly welcome , far improved food , pleasant staff , the only thing that has not changed is the poor selection of real ales , only 1 , razor 3.8% so had to opt for a larger ( plenty of them ) On the whole a big improvement we will be back

Hardly know where to start. Booked a table for 3 people for dinner and arrived to receive the most lukewarm reception you could ever imagine to be told that there was no record of our booking. Asked about ordering food and we were informed it would be anywhere between an hour to an hour and a half. I could understand this if the pub was busy but there were only 2 or 3 other tables being served food. It was at this point that we decided to leave and go up to the local Wetherspoons where we were warmly greeted and had our food to the table within 20mins of arriving. Wetherspoons was absolutely heaving at the time but they had the time to check on us and ask if there was anything else they do. Certainly the complete opposite to the Plough and Barleycorn. I have already shared our appalling experience with a number of friends and family telling never to set foot in the Plough & Barleycorn ever again. The only way I can see improvement is by shutting the place down and turning it into a nice pub. I hope my input is constructive helps bring about changes.

Have always lived locally and used to come to the quiz weekly after new ownership we stopped coming. The owners before/after Covid were great but sadly left. We then came every now and again. The new owner after was rude so we stopped coming. Came today for the first time in ages and was very impressed the staff were incredible! Very attentive and happy to help. Very engaged in conversation. Dog treats and dog bowls/water provided. For a local pub I couldn’t recommend more. Thanks to the lovely staff! Made us and the dogs feel very welcome.

How lovely, went for a surprise Fathers day meal with a few of my children ,got presented with a bag containing some chocolate and a key ring from the land lady . We was told that there was a delay between 40 mins to an hour ,it was a bit longer but was informed a chef had left and they were getting through the orders as quick as possible, my children were quite happy playing in the play area in the pub garden and the older ones in the park across from the carpark the garden was very busy with large families eating and having fun whilst the weather was being kind. The Bar staff and Hosts were running around trying to keep everyone happy and up to speed with the orders . When our food came it was exactly as described on the menu (This is not Michelin Star) its a pub that sells food. Good selection of beers wines and spirits... All in all a very pleasurable experience and we will be back. Thank you

We went to the pub for a family celebration and some of us had to wait 2 hours for our meals to arrive. My 94 year old mother had to be sustained with crisps as she was on the verge of collapse from lack of food. When her meal arrived it was a dried up piece of chicken breast and some wilted looking lettuce. My meal was virtually inedible so I left three quarters of it. My sister and her husband ordered starters and a main which arrived at the same time, so by the time they had eaten their starter their main was going cold. I ordered a dessert for myself and my mother but they arrived 10 minutes apart. Children in our party began crying because they were hungry due to the lengthy wait for their meals. We will not be going there again.

Having to wait two hours for the meal really built the excitement for a great feast. The anticipation was palpable and it helped when the landlord offered us such polite and intellectual conversation to help pass the time while the kids were waiting for the paramedics to put the drips in place to treat them for malnutrition. Once some of the food did come out, half the group waited for them to finish thier starters, mains and puddings before having thier own food brought out. My son was overjoyed by his steak as he was able to really savour the flavour due to needing to chew each piece for several minutes while scraping the burned bits from the next bit. Luckily, only some of the other diners noticed our kids crying and falling asleep at the table, mainly as they were too busy on their phones ordering dominoes pizza before they walked out the pub. Truly abysmal.

I have been there twice with my family. Both occasions we had to wait a long time for the food. Today, it took two hours to bring the food out. Some of our table had had their pudding and finishes still beofre my kids had even been given Thier first food. Meals were not right either. Steak overcooked, kids Melas were the wrong portion sizes. After two hours I spoke to the landlord who was arrogant and sarcastic. Didn't make any acknowledgement of it being so late. Then said would offer us all a shot each of apple sours. I pointed out that myself and my brother had come with our kids and are obviously not doing shots in front of our kids and need to be responsible. I also pointed out that my 95 year old gramdma isn't keen on shots. He just said well that's all I'm offering. Poor service staff looked really embarrassed because if him. Dreadful place.

I booked 3 weeks ago for my birthday for 14 people my first meal out for a year at least . Am gluten intolerant. I was assured all 14 of us would be served same time and our table would be priority table one . I went in twice to make sure. However. Meal arrived after 2 hrs for adults and 45 mins after that for 5 children who were crying by then . Their meals were sent back as were wrong . The waitresses did not know which meals were gluten free so I couldn eat mine . The landlord did not show any empathy and offered us a free shot each. Um with my 94 yr old mum and 5 children and several adults driving a shot was an insult . Sorry but we will not be going again and I do not recommend this place for a meal at all . The land lady who took my booking was lovely and assured me it will be as I needed . But ...

So I ordered a medium rare it looks like the complete opposite of a medium rare i had to waited 2hrs for a steak with chips and peas my family had it worse they had to wait 2hrs and 30 mins for scampi and chips not visiting this place unless it is for a drink

Great big menu and fab DJ, girls behind the bar were friendly, but the uniform is a bit unflattering, small crop tops with trainers. Cheap drinks for a night out and very clean.
