Lavender Tea Rooms in Havant

Having previously had a good experience, my 90 year old mum and I went for lunch. We ordered prawn salads with falafel and humus from the menu. The last two items were missing on our plates, but when queried we were told that nobody ordered those so they didn't have any! We asked for an alternative and were given half a slice of bread each! I then found a hair in my salad, but when I reported this, I was told that the kitchen staff had dark hair so it wasn't theirs! I was too stunned to reply! Then I was told we couldn't expect a refund, because the hair wasn't theirs. I explained we didn't want a refund, just an apology. Never again!

Very disappointed after waiting nearly an hour for a cheese scone I ordered that didn't appear, I ordered this as I was in a hurry. Its annoying when someone after you orders a jacket potato then receives their order before you!!! I won't be coming back!!

Popped for a quick lunch when out shopping with Mum. A little busy, but got lucky with a table just leaving as we arrived. Quick drinks and a little wait for the food. But when you know it’s fresh and independent you don’t mind waiting. It was well worth the wait. Good portions, hot and full of flavour. Emma (the name on the receipt) was spot on, attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back

Had our Christmas afternoon tea at lavenders as usual... Omg amazing we took our cake home as we were full..... Staff brilliant as usual very welcoming.... Quick service but didn't feel rushed at all Best around by far.. cant wait to go back

Absolutely amazing place, spotlessly clean,very friendly staff,& food was really really good, cooked fresh, eggs Benedict with bacon served on a muffin, poached eggs were best I've ever had cooked perfectly, would definitely recommend going here, & reasonably priced as well.

Friendly, efficient service. Delicious sandwiches with garnish salad & crisps. Resisted the delicious looking cakes. Will be back.

My friend and I randomly selected the Lavender Tearooms to meet up. What a super surprise! The atmosphere was very welcoming. We spent several hours there, working out way through coffee, homemade soup (delicious) and then onto the strawberry cream gateau (best I've ever tasted). When we meet up again in January, that's where it will be! Thank you for your welcome!

My husband and I are on holiday on Hayling Island . We enjoy cycling and of course that involves tea and cake on a regular basis . Today we stopped at the Lavendar Tea Rooms and my husband had the homemade Cheesecake and I had the Cream Tea . We just felt for the first time ever we needed to go on Trip Advisor to tell others of the AMAZING cakes on sale . I can assure you we are cake (especially Cheesecake ) connoisseurs and these were the very best we’ve ever tasted . Well done Lavendar Tea Rooms .

Amazing food and value for money. Had the high tea, sandwiches fresh with a generous filling. All the cake was amazing but especially the lemon cake that I picked. One of the best lemon cakes I’ve had, so lemony and meringue on top was amazing. Highly recommend :)

I went to lavender tea rooms for high tea with my mum and nan for my nans 73rd birthday and it was everything we could have wanted. The food was beyond amazing everything was fresh and beautifully presented and the staff were so friendly. 100% will be returning soon highly recommend.

This is a Lovely place to eat, would have given it 5* if food came out a bit quicker and there wasn't such an annoying loud bell ringing every time the door opened.

Very clean. Obvious but nicely blended lavender decor. Staff welcoming and appropriately attentive. Rests room immaculate. Very nice panini and baked potato. Really relaxing atmosphere….except for whooooaa a nuclear loud brass doorbell. Def go again

I had a bad experience here .I asked for Coronation Chicken sandwich. IT WAS REALLY HORRIBLE It was chicken pieces with fried wet onions and brown I ask the staff to speak with the chef but was not there ,this clearly comes from ready made in advance so the staff can make up the sandwich. I explained to the staff that this is NOT coronation chicken and that it is yellow with sultanas and a slight curry taste . I went in to the shop again the next day to see the chef SHE WOULD NOT COME OUT to explain that you cannot pass this yukki chicken with fried onions as Coronation Chicken SHE SAID THEY ARE TRYING THEIR OWN experiment on this recipe. I said they are misleading the customers in ordering this and not explaining to customers before hand IT IS NOT REAL CORONATION CHICKEN ,IT IS ABSOLUTELY GROSS I only wish i could put a photo available but was not on my computer only ny phone on this blog SO PLEASE BE AWARE . The bowl off crisp and side salad okay would off eaten the bread but was to wet

My boyfriend and I ordered the high tea for takeaway for lunch as a treat. All very fresh + really tasty. Good value for money! Had delicious sandwiches, pavlova, cupcakes and we got some extra “monster” biscoff milkshakes on the side… not for the weak-hearted! Best milkshakes we’ve ever had 🍫

I had the loveliest afternoon tea with my 6 year old here. Sandwich selection for both adult and children are fantastic both with amazing crusty bread. My little girl loved her selection and the choice of cakes was hard to pick as all looked scrummy. Best afternoon tea we have had out in ages would defiantly recommend The staff were Also amazing

Visited with 4 other ladies. Food was nice however few niggles that when you are trying to catch up you don’t want to have to keep doing. Waitress came back twice to check what I ordered, I was missed with the knife & folk being put out and could not locate staff member so had to leave salad. When leaving I bought a cupcake and slice of cake both ended up in the bin. I decided to inform the tea rooms and their response was defensive , rude and unhelpful . I was quite shocked as not come across such bad customer service in a very long time. Would not visit again. Also very small no windows we had to request door to be opened to keep some air flowing.

Myself and 3 friends when for afternoon tea this Saturday and it was amazing Two young girls worked consistently and the customer service was Above and beyond .The food was excellent ,great choice of sandwiches and cakes ,one for the young girls called beth was so helpful as one of the lady’s was dairy free .Both Beth and the other girl who name I never caught are a credit to the tea rooms xWill be returning soon thank you for making are afternoon so wonderful

My two lovely friends treated me to an afternoon tea from the lavender tea rooms and it was absolutely incredible! Delicious sandwiches on the nicest bread I’ve eaten in a long time. The cakes and scones were so so scrummy. Everything was really good quality and there was plenty for us all to enjoy. All presented in lovely packaging. I have been looking for a decent afternoon tea for ages, especially one that does takeaway, so I’m so glad to have discovered lavender tea rooms. Will be back very soon xxx p.s. the biscoff cheesecake is out of this world

Had the best cream tea today from this lovely place,excellent customer service. Every part of the tea was exceptiona, gorgeous sandwiches ,light scones,and yummy selection of cakes, all presented beautifully. Highly recommend,treat yourself soon,I’ll definitely be back,thankyou.

Had a lovely high tea at Lavender tea rooms. Sandwiches were delicious, with amazing fillings. Scones were warm, huge and very yummy. Many cakes to choose from, all very beautiful. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Very well decorated, clean and tidy. Would always recommend. Cant wait to book to go back.

I tried to book a high tea for my mother, wife and myself before the lockdown happened but our plans were obviously put on hold. We re-booked without looking at the website so were so pleasantly surprised when we walked into the newly refurbished tea rooms. It has been completely transformed! It used to be a quaint tea rooms that presumably survived due to it's customer service and great food. It now has both of those but with a swanky new look. I couldn't fault anything, the food was great, the service was excellent, the safety measures for Covid were strictly adhered to. For anyone looking for a brilliant little cafe with great food and friendly surroundings you really need to give this place a visit. We will definitely be back.

Me and my mum came here last Tuesday for afternoon tea. The staff are very friendly, polite and welcoming, and the afternoon tea was delicious, especially the cake and scones social distancing measures were well adhered to and the tea rooms were spotlessly clean. We came for my birthday on 19th August and it was a lovely experience the food was great and fresh nice and hot, I had read they did pancakes and that is what my son wanted when we got there they weren’t currently on the menu but the lady who I think is owner made some especially for him!! She didn’t have to that and we really appreciated such great customer service and he thought they were the best pancakes ever! I have been for afternoon tea a few times but never for breakfast but we will be back soon. It is very covid secure and spacious thank you

Absolutely amazing!We ordered a high tea for collection to celebrate an ill family member’s birthday during lockdown. I phoned the tea rooms to organise our sandwich choices and we were offered delivery for no extra charge which was greatly appreciated.The food and tea was delicious and there was so much to enjoy and everyone loved it including my grandfather whose birthday it was.We couldn’t have made the day any more special if we tried.Thank you again, Lavender Tea Rooms.

We had a lovely breakfast at the Lavender rooms, would highly recommend! The staff were very friendly & attentive. It has a very nice ambiance & u felt confident it was Covid safe. We also left with a choice of cup cakes, which were absolutely delicious! We will be back very soon!

I have been here a few times now and can say it's the best afternoon tea I've ever had on all occasions!! I've had a 50th birthday here which was just perfect. We have visited these tea rooms numerous times and every single time has been perfection. The afternoon tea is superb value and absolutely delicious. We had my sister’s hen party here and the staff were so accommodating. The room was decorated beautifully and we didn’t feel rushed even though we over ran! I can’t wait to come back for cake!

Have been visiting this establishment regularly for five or six years. I had a celebration here for my 70th birthday and had it not been for lockdown would have had one for my 75th. The standard of the food and service is just as high after lockdown as it was before. I love the refurbished surroundings and was very impressed with the way it was made safe and sanitised after a number of customers had left.

This is such a lovely tea room, the food is wonderful and the service is great, lovely ladies who can never do enough for you. Can’t wait to revisit now they have been able to reopen. Can’t recommend highly enough.

This was my first indoor dining experience since lockdown began. They did not disappoint! They have done some renovations and it looks wonderful. The tables are socially distanced so no worries there. The food was delicious as always! We decided to eat in for breakfast and it was wonderful. The place is immaculate and the staff is attentive and polite. I highly recommend this wonderful tea room.

I have been to this tea room for Christmas afternoon tea twice and general lunch and breakfast multiple times. Absolutely love it every time, the service is outstanding the menu is yummy and I will and do go back often!!!

came here with a friend on saturday. As usual the food was amazing and fresh. Staff followed the ppe guidelines, watched a lady clean down a table after its use and was very impressed (even the chair legs) all possible touch points cleaned twice! Staff are happy and helpful. Highly recommend the high tea

Visited the establishment last week, wasn’t impressed. Had an issue with a hair in my food, really not happy especially due to the Covid pandemic. When I asked to speak to the manager, he appeared after half an hour of waiting (not good enough once again) and gave me a loud of mouth. Told if I didn’t like it to get out of his tea room and to not come back. His name was James if I can recall rightly. Wouldn’t visit again, terrible hospitality and evidently shocking hygiene. A health and safety representative should visit ASAP!!!

Had lunch with a friend today. Beautifully refurbished and a really lovely atmosphere. Very welcoming staff and a nice different menu at very reasonable prices. Had the hummus and falafel salad which was delicious. All Covid compliant with great attention to hygiene. Such a nice change from all the chains and a real find in the centre of Havant. Highly recommended.

Wow..... Thought we would try somewhere different today and so pleased we did and it certainly didn’t disappoint. A very tasty lunch which was beautifully presented. Spotlessly clean with excellent Covid safety measures in place. Would highly recommend.

Had afternoon tea for 2 with my daughter and we couldn’t fault it! The place was spotless with clean bright deco and all Covid-19 related safety measures in place, the waitress was attentive and polite and the afternoon tea was delicious and very generous! I hear they make a full English breakfast too! I will be going back to try that when I’m in Portsmouth next time

I had a slice of their biscoff cheese cake and it was Delicious. Exactly how a biscoff cheese cake should taste! Would highly recommend.

Over the past 3 or 4 years I have been here regularly with friends or family for lunch or afternoon tea. Have also attended a baby shower here and held a baby shower for a friend at Lavender Tea Rooms, both were excellent.The sandwiches are absolutely delicious, on beautiful fresh bread and salad, warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and yummy cupcakes. Attentive, friendly staff, great prices, what's not to love? Can't recommend enough and always tell everyone about Lavender Tea Rooms!

I brought my step mum & myself a voucher here for high tea as a Christmas present. We had a lovely afternoon, my only grumble was we did wait a while for the high tea to come out but it was definitely worth the wait, the sandwiches were lovely fresh bread. Piping hot tea & beautiful cakes. So filling I had to take my Victoria sponge home. Will definitely be returning in the near future.Thank you Lavender Tea Rooms for a lovely visit. :)

This is a little cafe in Havant. The menu is quite good and the food was nice. For us it was a disapointing visit though. It's called Lavender Tea Rooms and prides itself on it's tea. We love tea and went there for lunch. The tea was barely warm and on asking the waitress to make a new one for us we were told it wasn't very hot as they were cleaning the Urn through so was using the coffee maker to make tea. It made no sense that they would clean the Urn during business hours but also she said they don't have a Kettle, which just seems bizarre. Sadly this means we won't be going there again.On the plus side the waitress was friendly and the food was good.The tea is what has let it down and when you call yourself a Tea Room it's kinda important you make good tea....

Came to have lunch today. Every time I've been here there out of something (see my last review) today the same. They are right in the town centre. This was a Saturday. Why would you be out of anything, wouldn't you just replenish it from a local shop???? Its so weird. We were the only people in there. Had some jackets. Nice enough. Waitress friendly

I have been here on 3 occassions and on every occasion there has been no sliced cake. On a previous visit there was no bread left so we were only offered a jacket potatoe. With Waitrose only being next door I suggested they get some bread, the waitress said no because they like to buy it from a bakery!! So they would rather have none.On my last visit I said to the waitress this is the third time you only have cupcakes, where is your sliced cake? She said we do not tend to get it anymore as business is slow and we end up throwing lots away at the end of the week. So we just dont get it. I said this is a tea rooms, people expect cake, she said yes but we can only take so much home at the end of the week. I could not beieve this excuse. I said you have to offer the products to customers in order to make sales, it sounds like its all about the owners and staff not the customer. I said you ran out of bread last time. She said well if you come after 2 we do tend to run out of things and we are generally short staffed. It sounds like they give up before they try! Is it even worth opening the door!

Had a cream teas as a birthday treat for a family member. Just pretty average. Sandwiches were okay, scone was tasteless and for a cake you could only have a cup cake. I don't want a cup cake....I want a choice of traditional cakes like victorian sponge.Just can't help feeling that corners are being cut to make more money and it shows. I've been here for a few years and it just gets more disappointing with each visit.At £12.95 per serving I had a bill of £50 plus.....and it just wasn't that good.That said.....staff were great.I don't think I would go back i'm afraid.Just came away feeling a bit let down and flat.

Ordered a flat white, a milky coloured liquid turned up. The coffee machine was never used, disinterested waitress. Don't waste your hard earned cash here. Go to a coffee shop that cares for it's customers and turns on the coffee machine!

I visited lavender tea rooms about 2 days ago and had a high tea I must say was amazing! The coffee I had was the best I’ve ever had! The tall brown hair girl was so lovely! Would recommend!

We ordered two coffees. One Americano and one Flat White. We did not hear or see the espresso machine in action. The flat White was basically a regular coffee with milk. WEe complained and exchanged it for a Cappuccino. This came as a cup full of coffee with a thin layer of foam. A Cappuccino is an espresso with foamed coffee not a regular one. It was so hot I burned my tongue sipping it several minutes after it was delivered. 24 hours later my tongue is still sore. I really do not think they knew how to make specialist coffees and they didn't appear to you the espresso machine except to produce steam. We left the coffees.

I brought my grandma here a little while back for brunch. The breakfast was really good value, fresh ingredients, the decor really nice, friendly staff.

Nice little place to sit in. Loved the tea. Their sandwiches well wot can I say, that are fresh to eat.

Visited this place on a Saturday and had afternoon tea for two (it's not "high tea" as they call it, that's an evening meal, we are slowly becoming more American!!).

I had read lots of good reviews on Trip advisor ao had high hopes. A friend said she would meet me near my home and Havant isnt too far from home so i took this opportunity to visit. It looked bigger from the pictures. It was busy for lunch on a weekday. Because it was busy it was actually quite noisy and my friend was getting quite a draught every time the door opened. It is a nice cafe however i felt the menu was quite limited, i was expecting a variety of cakes on offer. I also thought it was a tad expensive however the jacket potatoes we both had were nice and lots of filling which is always a plus. Downside slightly that it was cash only which meant i had to cobble some cash together. Will visit again but not with more than one other friend.

The food was really nice. Enjoyed the experience. A little expensive if honest. The tea rooms were quiet as we went at 10am. I think it would be claustrophobic if busy

Food ok as are the staff. Changes afoot though as owner selling up. Have to see what changes come. Shame it is not a bit bigger as not a lot of room.

Went for my Mother in Law birthday. Amazing Service. Food was lovely. looking forward to going back again for more treats.

The afternoon tea we had was perfect, we also had a side order of baked Camembert, Sandwiches were fresh and plentiful, cakes were amazing and full of clotted cream which was one of my husbands favourite things, all in all I couldn’t fault it, perfect wonderful will definitely be going again

This a fabulous place and so easy to miss. Hannah is delightful and the food is delicious and v well priced. A go to place if we have visitors.

Although this is surrounded by several other eateries and is just tucked away in north street it really offers a nice old fashioned touch if really all you want is a quiet rest a very decent cup of tea properly served and not one of those small one cup pots either

I had never been here until a work colleague decided to do her maternity leave lunch here. The food was superb as was the coffee. I now understand why friends rave about thia place. Never been before, but will certainly return.

Booked the whole tea rooms for my husbands 70th Birthday,what a wonderful time everyone had. The tea rooms were decorated with balloons and bunting, we had tea in real china teapots, the high tea was so yummy,lovely well filled sandwiches, beautifully decorated cakes, lovely fresh scones. Hannah and her helper worked so hard keeping everyone topped up we even had bags to take home leftovers ( there wasn’t many!). There is just one word to sum up PERFECT Thank you

Stopped in for a late lunch. Lovely food, generous portions and friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. Great selection on menu. Will definitely return to sample some other goodies.

A very nice place to settle down to tea and cakes or something more substantial. The menu for breakfast is varied, freshly cooked and delicious.

I’m not from Havant so I had no idea where to go apart from being advised about a cafe along this street but I passed Lavender Tea rooms en route and decided I would rather eat here.

Visited with a bridal party, first impressions very positive, friendly waitress, ordered afternoon tea (had pre-booked) had one vegetarian lactose free so couldn't have the high tea and ordered panini which was very good. Sandwiches on afternoon tea let it down, we asked for a selection (excluded coronation chicken). Mostly Brie and cranberry, tuna and cucumber without anything else and a few chicken and sweet corn. Would have preferred ham, egg or cheese. After complaining were brought sandwiches of cheese and cucumber and some egg, second lady very argumentative with us saying we should have ordered our preferences in advance. Didn't get an apology, very rude with an attitude. It's a shame as scones and clotted cream were really lovely as were cupcakes and meringues. The brown bread was a bit dry on the sandwiches. You can on,y pay by cash as they don't take cards, can't see how the business can grow going forward. My advice is be nice to customers, listen to them, make the ordering clear at the beginning maybe limit your choices of sandwiches.

Popped in with the hubby ..quickly and politely greeted by staff..had amazing JP and coronation chicken hubby had ploughman’s with a homemade super yum onion chutney!! Highly recommend this tearoom clean..delish food..polite friendly staff..oh not to mention the scones we took home oh my days THEE best!! Thanks Hanna xx

Jacket potatoes at this tea room were amazing. Lovely staff and lovely food. Worth a visit. Very reasonable price. Cakes looked amazing but too full to try one.

This quaint little tearoom is beautifully decorated. Nothing nicer than tea served in a pot and bone china..

We visited with just cake in mind, and how lovely it was. They offer a large choice of teas, and if you don’t have just a sweet tooth like us, you can have a typical afternoon tea with sandwiches - which has cake too!

Called after a recommendation, pleased we did, clean pleasant tearoom, waitress was lovely friendly helpful. Delightful jacket potatoes nothing too much trouble, fresh salad , panini was tasty, coffee in large cups superb. Tearoom China teacups and teapots for the tea drinkers, they close early but the tearoom situation decrees no reason to be open late. Well worth a visit if your shopping in Havant.

Some nice savoury food. There wasn’t a huge choice of sweet food. I enjoyed what I had but thought it was a bit pricy for what we had. Absolutely nothing wrong with this place but I’ve had better.

This is a lovely tea room. We were visiting the area and came across this café by accident but were very pleased with the discovery. There was a good range of tasty refreshments on offer and there was real tea served in china cups. We very much enjoyed our meal and would recommend this café to others. The service was polite, friendly, helpful and smiley.

Not impressed..got there at 1 food came at 2.. £12.95 for high tea 4 small sandwiches a dry scone with not enough Jam n Cream n 2 cakes..my sister had a panini with a thin slice of ham n cheese that didn't even cover the panini..another of my party had a jacket potatoe with cheese n beans but the beans didn't turn up we had 2 wait 4 them..n my tea was so weak I sent it back n they added extra tea leaves that I believe weren't in the pot 2 begin with

We returned to Lavender Tea Rooms having visited for the first time a few weeks ago. We weren't disappointed. Our breakfast order was taken promptly and our food arrived quickly. As previously we found it to be piping hot, of good quality and delicious. Nice little place, friendly staff and convenient location.

Lovely setting, not very accessible for my disabled father; however when we turn up without booking they've always been able to accommodate us and helped us move chairs to fit him in. Lovely food, lovely tea, lovely staff :)

Went for a bite to eat after hearing about this place, totally wasn't disappointed, the food was fantastic, the staff were so happy and friendly, it was very reasonably priced and had a lovely atmosphere, definitely worth a try.
