The best restaurants serving British food in South East

Yummy 😋 is definitely worth a stop!

Creamed garlic mushroom starter, which we both had, was delightful and better than we had been expecting. My wife then had the Singapore Crab main which was out-of-this-world, where I had the battered Huss which was also exceptional and well worth waiting for. We had to wait a few days as the restaurant wasn't open until Wednesday. We were both disappointed with our deserts which were not as expected, too much cream in the tiramasu which was all we could taste in large globs and the brownie was cake-like and not the the normal soft brownie texture and had been over warmed. You can tell from this that we both share our food when we eat out and sometimes at home. Our meals were off the specials board and thus we cannot grade them but our starter and mains were all five star!

Went to a private function at Butlers on Sunday afternoon. What a fabulous afternoon we had. Rivers of rosè and champagne and delicious canopies. Such a great venue for a party. The staff were amazing, they are all so beautiful and kind. They couldn’t do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. They were all so smiley and accommodating, just delightful.

Good choice of craft ales. Buffet food for a function was very good. Friendly staff.

Had the 5 course chefs menu Can’t fault a single dish. The veggie dishes we typically wouldn’t have ordered were our favourite. Cauliflower especially! Can’t wait for next time The waiter was more than attentive and all staff seem flawless at their jobs.

Seating like In a book shop, so lovely and Hastings is beautiful

Came here midweek and was almost empty. Food was outstanding, great flavour and falling off bones. Good selection of beers from local breweries. Will definitely return when next in area

What a great, honest, down-to-earth place. Solid grub (though could do with more vegan options, please! 🙏🏻), lovely staff, wonderful spot in Birchington that the DFLs tend not to find.

This place knows how to do a carvery properly! We had a fantastic visit today, the food was amazing. Freshly prepared, hot and a great selection. The staff were very welcoming and the restaurant had a good feeling. The restaurant was very busy and even though there were some large groups at tables, the way things were ran was very organised so that no one had to wait a long time to be served. We will definitely return! Thanks.

thoroughly disappointed. The baby back ribs were tender, well cooked, but absent of any flavour and sauce whatsoever. The chicken burger was very bland and had no seasoning at all. All the chips were a bit mushy and did not have any seasoning either. The coleslaw that comes with the ribs are definitely homemade which was appreciated, but the portion was about a tablespoon. Onion rings are basically just batter. I cannot justify the price we all paid. Will not order again.
