Barley Sugar Kitchen & Deli in Eastbourne

I park on the south side in the ♿️ parking area. I would like to know why there is nobody working a checkout on that side. I hate using the self checkout. You are making it very inconvenient for the handicap.

I love this store. This is where I always go, but it’s cold outside. They’re blasting AC and it feels colder inside the store than it does outside.😭

They have all the food you can think of here! Decent prices and no people of Walmart to drive you insane. However, the self-checkout machines are garbage. Or possessed..or garbage. ;)

Update: I am so fed up with the Dillon's app telling me that something is in store, when it isn't. And, I don't understand how this store will keep raising prices on items. This used to be my favorite store to one-stop-shop! This store specifically is much higher on prices than the store on the northeast side of the city. It would be nice for Kroger stores to have the same prices in the same city; I can understand different cities in other states however, not the same one! I chose Dillon's because I didn't want to trek around Walmart and didn't have the extra funds for Target. This decision is no longer a factor with my current budget and it hurts so bad. I love the Kroger products but anything name brand I shop elsewhere. Dillons is always more expensive and doesn't have the right coupons. Additional rewards (not just on gift card or lottery purchases) would help. Some available online coupons "or deals" are absolutely ridiculous, for example: buy a $30-$40 bounty paper towels, get a gallon of milk for free. (For some people in this current economy the smarter decision is to save more money and get the Kroger sparkle paper towels and a gallon of milk. Staff is friendly however you will have to go out of your way to ask them for assistance, if you needed help. Rewards points do add up quickly and the gas price rewards do help tremendously!

The overhead radio was so loud, it was beyond ridiculous. I can't shop in a place that has overhead radio that loud. People with any kind of loud noise issues, should take precautions in this store . If not, you'll never want to shop here again.

Fast and efficient, it is very easy to get what I need and go! I've never had a bad experience here!

Grocery store. Has everything one would want for grocery store needs. You can do pick up or delivery too which is good for my elderly parents. I just go wander around and spend most my money 🙃

I am a very satisfied customer with this super market but today I was mistreated by an employee named Juanita in customer service who first did not want to speak Spanish knowing how to do it and second did not want to pay me the check because according to her she did not have a license or valid ID from the state.. which what I have is a work permit and valid social security from this state.. it is worth clarifying that other times they have paid me my check in this establishment but this lady is very poorly educated and treats everyone very badly Besides being inept, clients should train her more.

Why do you have so many CLOSED check out lanes? Why do you try to force shoppers to use self checkout lanes? Why do you not have enough staff to assist with bagging groceries for the checkout lanes? I'm in my 3rd trimester, I have a cart full of groceries. As soon as I reached the only open checkout lane, the staff shut down their lane and just left. I was literally standing there looking at all of the closed checkout lanes wondering, just Why? The self checkout was packed. Checkout at Dillons is garbage, the products are over priced. Management always understaffed. I'm so very close to just going back to Aldi. At least there is actual consistency and good prices there.

I was looking for a particular. It was not on the listed shelf. Despite the store being busy for Easter, even went into two double check for me. Although they did not have it due to the holiday demand, the customer service has earned them five stars. Thank you! 😊

The Pharmacy at this Dillons is extremely hard to work with. They claim it's because they are under additional scrutiny from the DEA but that should be the case for every pharmacy. I had to transfer a script from another Dillons due to stock issues and it was a mess.

Only half of the self check out lanes were open

6 employees near the front registers standing around looking like they are doing nothing and you have 7 people standing in line at customer service with only one employee working in customer service. Your customer service sucks. Make sure you check the date on each item you buy because if you don't then sure enough you will be eating product that in my most recent case expired 6 months ago. Too many times more than a few times I got home and realized dillons sold me expired product. Then I have to waste my time standing in their long line. I feel 2.75 stars is accurate.

Great sales and the staff were working hard at keeping up with stocking and organizing. This store is generally well stocked and organized. The produce department(s) at Dillons stores don't always live up to the hype. Wanted to by some fresh red peppers here, however, the stock on hand was a little too fresh. The selection of red peppers was nearly colorless. Had to use up another half hour to go to a competitor and shop a second location. I do prefer their bulk garlic for the large bulbs available. They are well suited for roasting.

Why would you have self checkout if you literally have one person going to each station, before they can submit payment, to count/verify all their items?! Just get rid of the self checkout and open more registers with physical cashiers. Seems like a 90s idea but sometimes going back to the basics is what’s needed. I saved zero time with my 10 items by using self checkout when I had to wait for your one staff person to get done counting each and every item of the 3 others customers before me. You seem worried about theft but not theft of my time. Not theft of taking jobs away from people your company could very well open up, if you just chose to open more registers…. I get that this location isn’t the best in regard to honest people and I’m sure you’ve had theft. Why are you so pressed to keep your pockets lofty without keeping in mind what customers want and what would be easier for them to keep them coming back? Your PROFITS last year as a whole were over 32 BILLION! Just ridiculous!

I like to go here ads they have more items. However, I don't know if someone didn't remove the sale tags or if there is a problem with their software for pricing, so the tag read 3 for $5 for 8oz pom wonderful pomegranate juice but when I got home and checked my receipt it showed regular price if $2.49 per bottle which means I paid $2.48 more for the products than what was posted. I'm not going to make a big deal out of it but always check your receipt before you leave and if this continues I'll start taking pics to back myself up.

It is a supermarket. It carries the usual food and sundry items. There are a few technical items offered like light bulbs and extension cords. There are many locations throughout Wichita.

Really slow on checkout. 2 lanes open with one having problems and a least 10 customers waiting to checkout. When is Kroger going to learn that selh checkout is not what the customers want.

It was great, though, as usual, Dollons is pricey.

This is my local Dillons. For the most part this location is fine. I stopped in to get my prescriptions one day and there was a woman working the pharmacy register that seemed ill. She had on a mask and was working VERY slow. She wasn't very personable and looked miserable to be there. I felt bad that this woman has to work when she should've been home resting. A couple of months later I was leaving the same Dillons and a woman jaywalking at a snail's pace across the street from QT to the Dillons was the same woman. She was moving so slow it was causing traffic to stop. So today I am grocery shopping and need to pick up prescriptions. There she is working at the speed of a sloth only today she was rude. Still wearing a mask but sighing so loudly that I could hear her doing it through the mask. Turns out she wasn't sick that day, her baseline is just miserable and slow. On a more positive note there's a young man who works the North end self-checkouts on Sundays that's friendly and isn't ever rude or annoyed when he has to help.

I never use my debit card to get gas and the 1 time I did I got hacked!! Watch these pumps and this place .had to get me card replaced a day after getting gas here

The drive thru is now open but it was faster going into the store. Love Dillons.

Michelle at customer service has no customer service skills she's rude she wouldn't sale a customer a roll of quarters wow nor refund a 6$ item return policy states under 10$ horrible way to treat customers i won't go back ...we give Dillons way to much money to be treated this way...

This store is a most convenient place for getting my groceries..

Bakery items dense, not fluffy...I think they don't use yeast. Also at ANY one of the self checkouts I have to flag down a clerk as the 1 gallon water refills are not listed for lookup.

I have been to this Dillons a few times recently. The first time I thought the price was high compared to my tally, and realized I had not gotten the price savings listed. This last time I was wary to this. I misquoted the price on the milk, so that was a 10 cent donation,, and I missed the fact they did not give me the 50 cents off the bread I got. I only over paid the listed price by 60 cents this time!!! So it is.

Always clean and we'll stocked. With the self checkout usually can in and fairly quick.

Drive thru pharmacy associate has attitude and poor customer service, wish I could have got her name but she Refused to take GoodRx info through the drive thru said if I was using that I’d have to come into the store. I’m sorry I use the drive thur cause I don’t want to come in the store the same reason I order my groceries and pick them up. This isn’t a Kroger policy, I called in and spoke to the pharmacist and after talking to her she took the info over the phone. And I went back through the drive thru. Maybe that associate shouldn’t be working in the pharmacy or in customer service at all. They tried to say it holds up the drive thru which it only takes a second to read off the #’s so not sure how it makes a difference inside vs drive thru. Very frustrating. I’ve used this location for years but if customer service continues to lack maybe have to think about Walgreens.

I injoy buying my groceries at pick up it makes it easier to get shopping done as long as I get what I ordered.

Used the dillons gas station. I prefer quicktrip but use dillons when I have to. It's just harder to scan all your items through glass, it can be a pain to pay through the slider drawer.

I have come here 3 diffrent times just to be able and have starbucks while shopping and every single time it's close for usually over an hour. It's ridiculous that it closes and they wouldn't have one person as a backup. Everytime there's people coming up seeing they are closed. Clearly enough people want to buy it to justify having 2 workers. Really disappointing coming here for starbucks just for it to always be closed. Usually at around 5

Not the first time I’ve gotten moldy cheese from here 🙄 I guess dates on things don’t matter because it’s far from expiration! Employees check stuff better! Don’t rely on dates.

I like Dillons. The workers are so nice and friendly. The store is so nice and clean and well stocked.

Do not order from here, was told 15 min before pick up that the cake i ordered for a child's birthday 24 hours in advance that it wasn't available. Wasn't offered any discount or remedy for their mistakes and was treated extremely poorly

Maybe if you treated your employees better they would not all be quiting on you.

My main complaint in general about all Dillons stores is that the name brand products are often priced higher than WalMarts name brand products but yet they pay their employees less than WalMart employees.

F the people who work here, my mom went shopping here and she had a screenshot of what she wanted. She showed a worker to find it quicker and they pointed her to the wrong thing. They assured her that it was the right one and gave it to her. So she came home with 4 bags of the wrong thing and she couldn’t even return it because it was a frozen good. She wasted a trip and so did I trying to get a return. The women in front of me was literally returning ice cream yet they took it.

Not to busy when I was there. The place was well kept and tidy. Overall happy with my experience.

Electric shopping cart Alba electric shopping carts for the handicapped was outside the store and not being charged the two that was in the store was not even plugged in and was mad I had to plug one in myself and wait for a long time for it to charge in the store I needed some assistance and of course nobody can help me I was very disappointed in my experience I got groceries and I couldn't even get an employee to come out with me to bring the electric cart back in another customer looking into the store and I had to load my groceries in my car by myself I think it was very poor customer service oh wow

Friendly employees/ down to earth, will not Lie to You.

Dillons shoppers cards are a joke. If someone knows your phone number, they can steal your points. Mine were being taken by out-of-state nieces, in a state I have never been to. They always have been untrustworthy, so I'm not too surprised. The day of justice hasn't arrived, yet. After I learned the card was flawed, got another one, but they linked it to a deceased relative, without my permission. Someone with a different address and phone number. WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT. Thinking about dumping them. They said to put a fake number in place of the real one. What if I forget the fake?

Most of the time the staff are pretty amazing. I enjoy shopping at this store due to the cleanliness, positive attitudes from everyone and usually having what I am needing or looking for.

Just always so busy only when people get their food stamps. People are so rude these days.....That me first attitudes got to go.

Dillons is advertising a free flu shot on kake. I went to get one and was informed it was $60. They informed me that it is only free if you are insured. This is false advertisement and I wont be back.

They have everything I need and it is affordable

I really like this Dillon's on 31st & Seneca. They have all the extras here with even a coffee shop in the middle. They don't quite have furniture, but they have all the rest. It's always stocked & rarely do I see an empty shelf~ Except for the CHOCOLATE DIPPED CAKE ICE CREAM CONES!! Please get some soon or I'll take a star away! Thank you

Pensé que me daría un capricho al ir a este lugar, así que recogí un quish, queso y algunos encurtidos y los puse en el mostrador donde el caballero de la tienda cambió los encurtidos por un frasco diferente, no pensó mucho en el Al regresar a casa, me senté a disfrutar de la quish era inestable, estaba tan seca que tuve que escupirla, me volví hacia el camenber del oeste, absolutamente sin sabor, mira los encurtidos y el frasco ya estaba abierto, la tapa no estalló cuando Lo abrí y los encurtidos de dentro ya se habían desvanecido, es decir, oxidados. Esto me costó un total de 14. 56 que es un precio principesco para tres artículos. No los volveré a recomendar.

Dillions is always a clean store, big variety. Best produce in town. I can always find someone to help me if I need it.

Have had lunch on two occasions here recently. The best soup that we have ever eaten. Recommend the salmon chowder and wild mushroom and pearl barley soup. Great service and excellent value. Good choice of gluten free options. Well worth seeking out.

Easy on&off for semi trucks. Clean.

The menu is a little boring. Very fancy with fancy names. E xample: no ham, egg and chips!! Or chilli con carne. I think they rely on "grazers".

Popped in for a browse, they have some really lovely gift ideas as well as an amazing selection of cheese, chutneys, bread and savoury snacks. Got to try a couple of cheeses and am now converted to blue cheese. Will be coming back to give the restaurant a try very soon!

Just returned from a week in Eastbourne and our visits to the Barley Sugar cafe were a regular highlight. We loved our tea and cakes on several times. I also visited the deli on our last Saturday and ordered some lovely bread, cheese and other nice things. There is so many beautiful items to buy in the shop. On our next visit we plan to use the restaurant. Many thanks

We were recommended by our hotel to eat here, it was a short distance from where we were staying. A superb meal of a grazing platter of cheeses and charcuterie with a crisp bottle of wine went down very weel indeed. Great place to eat.

Called in to a light lunch, very welcoming. Great menu with tasty cheeses, meats, breads, beautifully fresh food, well presented and very tasty. First class friendly service, great value too.

Lazy and slow associates, clueless managers and an overall sense of dread from having to deal with their incompetence every time I have to deliver to this store.

A little tucked away....we stumbled across this place but were so delighted with the excellent lunch we were served. Definitely try the pate - one of the best I have ever had. Good service with a super deli attached to the cafe.

This stunning cafe along with its fresh deli is an absolute Eastbourne delight. Really tasty food from the kitchen all freshly cooked. The best cheese and meat selection in the deli in Eastbourne and fine wine selection to go with the food. Just ask Lee or Nick to match the two and they will gladly help. Great place to visit and you WILL go back.

I ate here one lunchtime during the Nature Valley tennis competition which runs every day for a week. It is next door to the park and provides a welcome alternative to food within the grounds. I chose an open herring sandwich which was very tasty, good quality and a little different.

I won’t hesitate in recommending this restaurant. What a lovely little find on a Friday evening! The menu is a little quirky compared to other eateries in town but none of us were disappointed. The hummus starter was delicious. We opted for a Australian Shiraz which was superb along with the slow cooked beef. The crab salad was excellent along with the roasted smoked salmon salad - only criticism (personal preference) was holding back on the pepper which I’m not a fan of but I know for next time. Pudding was also another winner. This is a great little place and I encourage you to visit as you won’t be disappointed.

Stopped by here Fri eve whilst walking the dog,read the menu...yum..booked for the saturday evening. It was really lovely. Decor is very relaxing and gives a warm homely feel. Wonderful food and wine. Service prompt. Will go again in the evening and lunchtime may be nice too. It's early days for their evening hours but I wish them lots of luck and they have my support.Go try it.

I was recommended this place by a local and a colleague as I was looking for a place to have lunch. My favourite little dish was the carrot and apple slaw with aromatic fennel seeds which I enjoyed so much that I not only asked for more, which Sam very kindly served, but also the recipe. My second favourite dish was the meaty duck pate, packed with flavour and meaty chunks. Thank you for such an enjoyable tasty lunch!

The pharmacy employees need to learn a thing or 2 about customer service! The attitudes on the phone and the drive thru are horrible! They act as if I'm bothering them or they hate their job

I visited the Barley Sugar Deli with my mum finally - I had been meaning to for some time as it’s so local to me.

Branden (who was stocking in the bird food aisle) went above and beyond for us! He found out when more bird food was coming and made sure to check in the back to see if he could find any extra. So friendly!

Why would anyone shop at Walmart. This place is clean & better quality of produce ect.
