St Clement's in Hastings

We sought out this restaurant based on reviews, as we were staying overnight for a quick break. I don't usually leave reviews, but I have to say this was the highlight of our stay. The food was exceptional and featured homemade desserts which we could not resist. We asked for a recommendation for wine, as we promised ourselves we would be eating purely seafood, this recommendation was made without us feeling patronised and was spot on. I would recommend anyone visiting St Leonards to book a table here if they are foodies (like ourselves).

Excellent, beyond the cuisine so refined and gourmet, everything is done with “taste” as they say in France, the decoration, the service and the wine list, nothing leaves you indifferent here, long live St Clement’s

Delightful first visit. Starters of laksa and braised cuttlefish were highlights along with the St Emilion dessert. Plum sake a lovely and unusual pairing for the chocolate dessert. Charming service throughout, and a nice atmosphere as the restaurant filled up over the evening. We look forward to returning at some point.

Lovely space with white tablecloths and great service. Lemon sole was perfectly cooked and my friend enjoyed the cod fillet.

Have been meaning to visit for many months after seeing lots of delicious photos on Instagram. Finally went today and enjoyed the set menu. The food was thoughtfully put together and gorgeous, especially for the incredibly reasonable price. The almond and apple pudding was the best sponge I've ever had. Service was jovial and prompt, and no cheeky service charge tagged onto the bill. Restaurant was clean with a classic but fresh feel. Will definitely visit again and recommend to friends.

An absolute gem of a restaurant. It was well run by a small passionate team who were really friendly and clearly enjoyed working there. The food was excellent. Hands down, one of my favourite restaurants in Hastings. Had fantastic meal here! Atmosphere great, service fantastic and food always outstanding! Must try place when in Hastings! We had mussel, skate wing and sea bass, all dishes were very tasty. Cheesecake for dessert was fluffy and moreish! Oh, almost forgot, great wine! Can’t wait to visit again!

A must visit if you’re in Hastings! We had the steak and kale pesto pappardelle. The pappardelle was delicious, heavily reducing my food envy of the steak facing me. The service was also top notch! The sticky toffee pudding is quite possibly the best I’ve ever had.

We thought that the food and wine at St Clements was fantastic: very varied menu, well-executed dishes and perfect portions. Our English white was really nice too. The service was very welcoming and warm but they did seem a little understaffed (two for the whole restaurant) and so the service was really quite slow unfortunately. We still really enjoyed it!

We went to this lovely restaurant having read the reviews and we were not disappointed we were greeted by a lovely young man. The food was very good even down to the home made bread which was delicious when in the area again we will definitely visit

Great service and very good food! We hadn’t booked, but the maitre d was really accommodating so we went to the pub next door and he popped over to let us know when our table was ready! We had sardines, chicken liver parfait, followed with skate, pheasant. All cooked to perfection and very nice indeed, a good wine list and lovely desserts! Very good value i feel, highly recommended

Atmosphere and decor is elegant, modest and charming. Staff and service pleasant, helpful and genuinely friendly. The food is outstanding. Far outstrips other fine dining restaurants in the area for how much creativity and control is on display. The menu is seafood focused and does a great job of balancing the expected and the original. I had the crab and apple salad, king scallops and black pudding, and orange blossom and cardamom posset. All of these dishes had clear, exciting identities, were portioned well, and had thoughtful combinations of taste and texture. Standout was the dessert - a celebration of floral flavours that managed to bring together difficult to pair ingredients masterfully. Would highly recommend.

Great wine and la pièce de résistance the fab puds, paired with their own chosen tipple. If you eat nowhere else on the south coast it should be here! The best seafood dinner in a while! Tried this restaurant while on holiday with some friends and we loved it. We had a three course dinner and tried a few different dishes, all delicious. Highly recommended!

Totally fresh fish, John Dory and Sea bass worth every bite. The bouillabaisse sauce incredible (ask for a spoon or bread to lap it up). Pate de champagne is a homemade course pate, but with all the flavour added with the homemade soda bread and cherry chutney melts in the mouth. Fantastic. The guys running this place are fun, onpoint and will have a chat, perfect harmony of knowledge and smile. Loved it. Thank you for a great evening.

Very good. Only been for lunch a few times, but the standard is high and makes for a good occasion. I doubt anywhere else in St Leonards or Hastings can match it. If there is somewhere else I need to know. But for now if I want a good lunch with quality food this is where I am spending my money.

Wonderful restaurant!! Had a small family dinner to celebrate my recent marriage and the ambience and surroundings were so lovely and the food and wine selection was amazing. All of us enjoyed our meals which were cooked to perfection! The price was also incredibly reasonable considering the quality of the food and the great service we received! Good food, i had a fillet steak it was cooked perfect but the cut of meat wasnt the best. Service was slow and was really overpriced for the quality. My highlight was the dessert makes it come back up to a solid 3 star

What a discovery! Service was excellent, food even more so, the whole meal/experience was an unexpected delight. The kicker was that they serve amontillado sherry, which I thoroughly enjoyed with my starter. This place is a gem and I will definitely dine here on my next trip to St Leonards.

We had the pleasure of dining at St Clement's on Friday evening and wow, it did not disappoint. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, the food was absolutely divine. We had three courses each and each dish was superb. I had the grilled sardines to start and they were an absolute treat. We will be back next time we visit Hastings! Highly recommend.

Had lunch here, cozy place and the server was very friendly. Starters excellent. Mains were good - fish was fresh and cooked very well. The guinea fowl was a little dry though. Overall still great and would go back.

Disappointing. We made a booking and arrived at 2pm, and ordered promptly. Our order was then forgotten about and didn't arrive until after 3pm. The food was fine, but even if it had arrived on time, the high price wouldn't have been justified. It was also slightly off-putting to have the adjacent table's left behind food left lying there for almost the entire time.

Nice place with a nice looking menu but disappointing for the price. When you’re paying £25 for a main meal you should really be able to enjoy some distinct and interesting flavours - sadly this was not the case when I ate there. There was a set menu of 2 courses for £13.50 which probably would’ve felt like good value but the main a la carte menu is over priced in my view.

This is a really great restaurant, lovely menu and staff, stylish and comfortable interior. Just on the edge of the arty area, made a nice walk from the Hastings Hotel, and back via seafront. Would definitely return.

Wonderful lunch had here. Set menu is an absolute bargain. Service friendly and efficient. Thai spicy beef salad to start had a subtle kick - followed by wholesome roasted chicken in mushroom, mustard and tarragon sauce. Then the trio of homemade ice cream was ultra refreshing. My partners chocolate torte a thing of wonder. Will definitely be returning

Very nice dinner here, and they fit us in without a reservation. The food was great and the service was so nice and welcoming. A lovely, convivial and cosy atmosphere (much nicer than some other places in St Leonard's).

Went for Sunday lunch for a first visit. Lovely ambience, attentive staff who we happy for us to take our time. The roast chicken was 10/10, I can't remember the last time I felt this about a meal. Not your typical stodgy, dry meat job, chicken was succulent, veggies were perfectly cooked, the cauliflower cheese croquette was a triumph. Have booked for July!

Amazing restaurant, run by a special team. We are always looked after, and the seafood is fresh and so tasty. Amazing and knowledgeable waiters/waitress, excellent wine pairings, this place deserves a michellam star! So glad I live nearby. Superior food at a reasonable cost.

The best fine dining in St Leonards on Sea! This is by far the highest quality dining experience in the St Leonards area. The choice of food is excellent and really looks and tastes great. The service is impeccable and they really are setting a high standard. The wine list is varied with lots of good combinations to accompany the food. Good menu with lots of choices including fresh local fish and meat and also vegetarian options. I really enjoyed an asparagus starter and the seafood here is some of the best available. Highly recommended for a good meal and reservations are necessary.

This is lovely restaurant with great staff and locally sourced menu. The food is always nice, but can be a bit pricey. The wine selection is wide which is always great to see! Perfect for a quiet, fine dining experience for two or for a large group like Christmas works dinner.

Elegant, sophisticated, lovely discreet service and, oh the food was sublime. Helpful staff, everything about our evening was perfect. The salad was delicate, the mains were so tasty and not too big, and the scallops sent us into raptures. Plenty of choice for a pescatarian. Can't wait for next time!
