Wonderful lunch here. Service was very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent choosing from christmas set menu. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Cannot wait to return to this charming little gem of a restaurant.

Over the past twenty years or so have been here a few times and although it is nice, it never quite hits the mark but can't put my finger on why. It has always been very noisy because there is nothing to soften the noise, so people talk people have to talk louder and louder just to be heard.

A group of 7 of us visited for a Saturday lunch. The restaurant was welcoming and friendly with a really attentive host. He catered for our needs and was extremely friendly and polite but in the background, but equally highly attentive. The food was very good and everyone in the group had a fantastic meal. We went for the 2 course (starter and main) as we had planned a tour of St Leonard’s pubs afterwards. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely pass on our experience to friends who live locally and who visit. Thanks for a wonderful visit.

What a great little find. Busy little place. Couldn’t fault a thing. Service and food was excellent. We enjoyed ham hock, steak, local scallops and sea bass. The frangipane tart was scrumptious (2 spoons!) definitely recommend and will be back when we are back this way again.

Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere and great service. One of the best meals I have had, from the crab fritters, then skate wing to the chocolate mousse for dessert. And not forgetting the bread and tapenade at the start.

Could not fault a thing, from the greeting we received from the young man at front of house to the excellent food we had. Starters were amazing , Mains just as good. My husband had the steak which he said was the best steak he has ever eaten. I had Sea Bass with rocket and parmesan. (If I wanted to really picky I would have like a bit more parmesan and rocket) but was a great dining experience, definitely will be visiting again.

What a lovely evening spent here. Couldn’t fault the charming service and most delicious food. Great ambience in a comfortable stylish setting. You didn’t disappoint, so sorry I couldn’t finish the profiteroles - I was already full from my tasty starter and main. Great value too.

St Clement's is my idea of the perfect restaurant. The focus is on genuinely excellent, delicious interesting food. You find yourself slowing down to savour every morsel, it's that good. The space and ambience are simple, relaxing and unfrilly with tasteful, well judged touches like the use of proper crystal wine glasses. The wine we had was also excellent and since everything else was so good we decided on deserts which also turned out to be even better than they sounded on the menu. Three of us had three courses of dinner, none of us had the same thing, all of us were delighted inlcuding my brother who happened to be eating vegetarian that day in this restaurant which specialises in fish dishes. We found the hosts and the service friendly and highly accommodating and the food came out surprisingly fast. It almost seems indelicate to add that the costs were incredibly reasonable. Dine like a wealthy person at St Clements without having to be one!

Surprised to find such a marvellous lunchtime venue

A lovingly furnished restaurant, attentive, cheerful service, but the best thing was the food: cooked to perfection, balanced ingredients, the fish was the main protagonist. There was only one vegetarian dish for the starter and main course, but that was so unusual that even our vegetarian was happy and didn't feel like a second-class customer.

Came here this evening for dinner. Felt rushed by the staff. We did have a 2 hour time slot, but you wouldnt have thought so how they rushed us through. Had the seabass with linguine, felt that the linguine could have had a flavour of some sort mixed through it, fairly disappointed. Shame as I have had great meals here before.

A lovely, friendly restaurant. In addition to their varied and always interesting menu, their vegan choices have given me many delicious and often unusual meals.

We sought out this restaurant based on reviews, as we were staying overnight for a quick break. I don't usually leave reviews, but I have to say this was the highlight of our stay. The food was exceptional and featured homemade desserts which we could not resist. We asked for a recommendation for wine, as we promised ourselves we would be eating purely seafood, this recommendation was made without us feeling patronised and was spot on. I would recommend anyone visiting St Leonards to book a table here if they are foodies (like ourselves).

Excellent, beyond the cuisine so refined and gourmet, everything is done with “taste” as they say in France, the decoration, the service and the wine list, nothing leaves you indifferent here, long live St Clement’s

My wife and I enjoyed celebrating our wedding anniversary at this popular and highly regarded restaurant. We were greeted formally and our server was attentive throughout. We opted for sole fillets and Dover sole, both executed perfectly. We went off menu for desserts, requesting a medley of three interesting ice creams and sorbets - home made options with flavours including blue cheese and mastic (no, not the sealant!). We thought that the meal represented very reasonable value for money. Don’t be put off by the exterior appearance and the neighbourhood - you won’t be disappointed with what you’ll enjoy once inside.

This restaurant is amazing! I’ve honestly had the best mussels of my life here! I asked for a gin martini and - no problem- a wonderful cocktail produced! Can’t wait for the steak!

Delicious Xmas dinner with the family at St Clements restaurant. Attentive friendly service. I had the grilled sardines, Hake fillet and finally Xmas pudding. Would definitely recommend, and would go again.

Wow. Just, wow. Incredible food, wonderful wine, lovely atmosphere, and in many ways most importantly, really down to earth staff. Not at all pretentious, just a great place for lovers of great food and drink.

This restaurant is fabulous, an absolute gem. Our family of five had lunch, 3 the set menu, 2 had Al a carte. Brilliant service from the off, swift, knowledgable and polite. We started with delicious home made soda bread and butter. Our set menu started with a Camembert salad (yum), then the best plump mussels we’ve had in years. The parents both had local skate wings which were really really good. All served with crunchy salty frites and salads. Wine pairing was spot on too. One pudding was ordered which was a proper stick to your ribs warm marmalade sponge. Finished with excellent coffee and complementary chocolates. Honestly can’t recommend this little place highly enough. Looking forward to returning.

Delightful first visit. Starters of laksa and braised cuttlefish were highlights along with the St Emilion dessert. Plum sake a lovely and unusual pairing for the chocolate dessert. Charming service throughout, and a nice atmosphere as the restaurant filled up over the evening. We look forward to returning at some point.

Lovely space with white tablecloths and great service. Lemon sole was perfectly cooked and my friend enjoyed the cod fillet.

Have been meaning to visit for many months after seeing lots of delicious photos on Instagram. Finally went today and enjoyed the set menu. The food was thoughtfully put together and gorgeous, especially for the incredibly reasonable price. The almond and apple pudding was the best sponge I've ever had. Service was jovial and prompt, and no cheeky service charge tagged onto the bill. Restaurant was clean with a classic but fresh feel. Will definitely visit again and recommend to friends.

Hands down, one of my favourite restaurants in Hastings. Had fantastic meal here! Atmosphere great, service fantastic and food always outstanding! Must try place when in Hastings! A must visit if you’re in Hastings! We had the steak and kale pesto pappardelle. The pappardelle was delicious, heavily reducing my food envy of the steak facing me. The service was also top notch! The sticky toffee pudding is quite possibly the best I’ve ever had.

Simply the best restaurant in St Leonards

Had dinner here on a Thursday evening. Lovely atmosphere and tasty dishes. Squid and sardines starters, scallops and skate mains, ice cream and sorbet based puddings. All delicious. A varied and interesting wine list. Great service. We will return

An enjoyable experience. All three courses were well presented and tasty. The mussel starter had a great flavour and the sea bass was also full of flavour. We were well looked after.

Very disappointing. Firstly I emailed 2 weeks before and asked if there was parking and had no reply. I found out from friends that there is no parking anywhere near by so had to pay for a taxi from Bexhill. I selected this restaurant carefully for our anniversary dinner due to the on line menu and we had chosen what we were going to order but the menu was completely different to the menu on the website, and more expensive. The food was nice but nothing special and the bill was over £100. The host/waiter was polite but not very friendly or attentive. When we left he was talking to the co host behind the counter and didn't even say goodbye or thank you. He certainly didn't warrant the £12 tip we gave.

The homemade soda bread was really good, good seafood, recommended if you are in Hastings

We thought that the food and wine at St Clements was fantastic: very varied menu, well-executed dishes and perfect portions. Our English white was really nice too. The service was very welcoming and warm but they did seem a little understaffed (two for the whole restaurant) and so the service was really quite slow unfortunately. We still really enjoyed it!

It has so many plaudits it’s difficult to add some new points, the immediate welcome, the attention to detail, the customer relations but most of all the Food they are all top top quality. It was our 7 th visit over the years, when we come to St Leonards booking a meal at St Clements is the first priority, then somewhere to stay. Sunday lunch was superb, tasty but not silly sized portions, each main course getting its own gravy, typical of the attention to providing the best experience given by the owners. All we can say is…. You must try this little gem of a place

Great service and very good food! We hadn’t booked, but the maitre d was really accommodating so we went to the pub next door and he popped over to let us know when our table was ready! Atmosphere and decor is elegant, modest and charming. Staff and service pleasant, helpful and genuinely friendly. The food is outstanding. Far outstrips other fine dining restaurants in the area for how much creativity and control is on display. The menu is seafood focused and does a great job of balancing the expected and the original. I had the crab and apple salad, king scallops and black pudding, and orange blossom and cardamom posset. All of these dishes had clear, exciting identities, were portioned well, and had thoughtful combinations of taste and texture. Standout was the dessert - a celebration of floral flavours that managed to bring together difficult to pair ingredients masterfully. Would highly recommend.
