Really tasty food, vegetarian options. I can recommend langosh and crepe with curd, so delicious! We also enjoyed fermented gherkins and pork perkelt with nokedli. All food is made with passion and love. Also, the "hidden toilet" is the best that I've ever used. It's definitely worth fit to check it out!

Visited in July 2023. We came to Hastings for a long weekend. On our last day, we were looking for a highly rated Brunch spot local to our accommodation. We came across Cookhouse Cafe, it was fairly quiet when we arrived. We promptly greeted and sat to our seats. The decor is very eclectic, full of framed artwork and prints. The cafe was very clean, tidy and welcoming. The menu is very good, with a great range of options, some with a Hungarian twist. We opted for Eggs Benedict - one with Bacon and the other with Mushrooms. Both incredibly delicious, the Hungarian paprika used was a great touch. The juices were freshly squeezed. After we ate, we managed to speak to the owners, who were very interesting, spoke about Food, Google Reviews, London and Budapest life. Highly recommended. Visited here at the weekend due to our hotel breakfast being pretty much non existent! We searched on Google for a cafe and the Cookhouse came up. We drove to the location and parked across the road in the Morrisons carpark. When we arrived the owner came straight to the door to unlock it, have seem some reviews complaining about being locked in but I actually found it quite comforting and safe! Each time someone was at the door, the owner greeted them within seconds. The latte was impressive and a definite talking point with the foam mountain! My husband had an English breakfast which he loved and I had the classic eggs Benedict. I have this every cafe we go to and this was by far one of the best I've tasted, beautifully presented to. Lots of interesting decor around the place, great atmosphere. I really can't fault the place! Also, we were surprised at how reasonably priced it was. Thank you for a lovely breakfast :)

We arrived this morning as a party of 5, we had to wait in the rain for the waiter to open the door as it was locked (even though the shop was open), we were then told we weren’t allowed to sit together even though the restaurant only had one other table of people eating - I asked if we could just add a chair onto the end of one table and the waiter was beyond rude and condescending with his answer - we left because the situation was incredibly uncomfortable, upon leaving we weren’t even allowed to open the door for ourselves and my boyfriend was basically pushed out of the way by the waiter for us to leave! Awful service.

Absolutely fabulous. Food delicious, service first class and excellent value. Our first visit and definitely not our last. Brightened up a very dull morning in Hastings.

Great decor, spotless place, delicious food. The menu is diverse and lots of choice for breakfast which is great. Amazing service, the gentleman who served me was exceptional. Lots of little details like a biscuit with tea, a sweet with the bill. Really good value, highly recommend.

The Cookhouse Cafe is a great discovery! The service is impeccable, the food is excellent and the ambience very good with fascinating "quirky" decor. Well worth visiting - and returning!

Fantastic little cafe, food and service are excellent & beautiful quirky details in decor that make the visit worthwhile for the experience. Friendly owners, very tasty coffee & breakfasts, all your usual favourites and some exciting additions on the menu we will definitely be back to try in the future. Great value and good portions, we were very pleased as it was delicious. Warm & cosy atmosphere, interesting steam punk vibe in the decor and was delighted to hear the things you see on the wall the owners have made themselves, so clever! Really can't wait to visit again, well worth the trip!!

This is truly a Hastings highlight. Excellent service and vibe. Food’s pretty good too. Csaba is very warm and welcoming. We always visit when we are in Hastings and recommend you all do to.

Outrageously unfriendly and unwelcoming. All I wanted was to sit down and see a menu. I was made to stand on the street outside a chain while a rude member of staff held out a QR code that he refused to let me hold in my own hand. Perhaps some outdated covid regulations that this man chose not to explain. He seemed to be actively trying to discourage me from coming in. And I'm 8 months pregnant so I especially didn't appreciate not being welcomed in to sit down.

Highly recommended. Lovely place in Hastings, cozy vibe, excellent staff. A variety of eggs Benedict choices along with traditional English breakfast. A special shout out to the owners for decorations!

I eat here whenever I visit Hastings, it is always a pleasure with great and tasty foods in a nice atmosphere. Worth to try all their foods over time to discover something new.

After heading to Hastings before checking into our cabin we decided to break out google to find a spot for breakfast and we’re glad the Cookhouse looked good! The service was impeccable, the facilities were absolutely spotless and the food was amazing!! The owner (apologies I didn’t catch your name) was very attentive, polite and chatty. The cafe is decorated like a boiler room of sorts and it looks fantastic. Quirky but fantastic. You have to go here!! Highly recommended.

To start with the waiter/owner I think was very attentive came straight to the door to let us in. The iced coffee was absolutely spectacular. And the food lived up to them too, we had the bangers eggs Benedict and the chicken schnitzel. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Love this place great for breakfast and lunch food and drinks are all made fresh and great quality owners are amazing giving lovely friendly service can be a bit pricey but it's really worth it never been unhappy with anything here

Popped in here as it was suggested by the place we were staying. The hosts couldn’t have been more friendly if they tried and the food?! That was amazing! I loved the ‘sushi’ take on eggs royale. It was definitely the best I’ve ever tasted and only wish that was back in Southampton. The eggs were poached to perfection and the horseradish and pickled ginger complimented it amazingly.

Having been to Cookhouse several times already I would recommend the food and the picturesque lattes. I had however a very disappointing experience this morning. I rang their phone no. via Google Map yesterday and having not received a call or text message back to say they could not accommodate us (2) I made the assumption that we had a table waiting for us However when I got to door, the gentleman who seems to be in charge, had no idea what I was talking about. When I showed him the Google Map listing and the call button leading to a phone no. to ring, which I asked him to confirm was the right one, he told me he didn't know his no, which I find hard to believe. He then went on to tell me with a very talked down attitude (didn't hear sorry once) that a voicemail did not equate a booking and I was expected to try ringing back until I get an answer (why enable voicemail in the first place then 🤷‍♀️ or maybe leave a prompt to say that messages are not retrieved 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️). So there you have chaps: nice food but make sure you follow you go through the right hoops as management has peculiar ways.

One of the coolest cafés in the area recommended by Town House Rooms. Food is delicious and the service is exemplary.

A very enjoyable experience at The Cookhouse. The service was warm, friendly and highly professional. We all chose the eggs benedict with tomato and basil, which was delicious!!! I will definitely go again when I am next in Hastings. I would highly recommend going here for good food and good service.

3 of Us visited Hastings for a hiking trip a few days ago and with a great luck we found this cafe for our brunch. The place is absolutely fantastic, the interior design is an eye-catching vintage style, the food was heavenly delicious, the detailed presentation and taste ohhh wow...we ordered omlettes and Egg Benedict, they were mouthwateringly good and the pancakes were so yummy too. The menu has a wide selection of dishes. Even the coffees were on a top level. Milk shakes are a must to try. The service is exceptional, the couple who runs the place and prepare everything from scratch really give 100%. If u would like to have an unforgettable memory in a very unique and cozy Cafe don't look any further. Definitely re-visit this place once we are in Hastings again. Went for a breakfast here today, what can I say, lovely owners, decor is amazing and the food was delicious. Lovely to talk for the owner between customers. He was very courteous of people’s needs. Will definitely be back.

We called ahead as it’s a small place and luckily they had a table for us. Lovely food (we tried the mushroom Benedict and bangers Benedict) and very friendly service. Would throughly recommend The Cookhouse Cafe- a great experience.

Whenever we ask our kids where they want to go they say Cookhouse, and we don't blame them. The breakfasts are great, the Eggs Benedict are fantastic (Salmon is the best!) and the Hungarian dishes are wonderful! Finish with one of the best milkshakes ever in a friendly cafe with its own style is a delight. Highly recommended!

This is a lovely Quirky Cafe with an extensive menu ranging from great breakfasts to Hungarian lunch dishes. Mushroom Paprikash for lunch was gorgeous, creamy and slightly peppery. Can't wait to try out another dish from the fusion type menu. Coffee gorgeous and the owner...

Very strange experience from the cookout this morning, owner locks the door and you have to knock and get confirmation to enter. Once inside he turned us away as was wearing work attire . Do not recommend

A real treat of a cafe, with an impressive and extensive menu filled with Hungarian / European dishes as well as staple British options! We had the goulash and the lambs hearts (amazing flavour) and look forward to exploring the menu further on future visits....

Aimed for this place as it was the only café we could find open during the Queen’s memorial bank holiday. So glad we did! Food was amazing and good value (big portions) service was very professional and had a nice chat with the waiter. All round great place, 10/10 would recommend

Overpriced. A £10 fryup with 1 egg, 2 bacon, 1 sausage, 2 tinned tomato, some potato bits and beans. Oh yeah a slice of toast, I'm sure locals can see surrounding places are better value and better food tbh. Also the owner paranoid you're going to run off so puts a chain across the door as you're eating and as soon as you stand up to pay he is worryingly about to intercept you, this Cafe use to be decent years ago but now just a joke.

Amazing breakfast/lunch place!!! Food is super tasty and ingredients nicely balanced, the owner and staff is highly professional, yet friendly in the same time. Love the fact they keep some of their ingredients secret :) can't wait to comeback for langos with cheese and ketchup!

Visiting Hastings for a weekend break and being lucky to discover this place. The owner/ staff may look serious in the first place but it's actually warm and polite. Menu had a good choices of food from British breakfast, Benedict eggs to Hungarian food. And you can tell they really take pride in what they are doing: food is nicely done, the decoration in the restaurant got its characters, service is well attended. Just another great experience in Hastings

We was turned away for having a toddler, the man rudely said we are fully booked and the cafe was empty! We then walked past again 40 minutes later and the cafe was still empty.

It's Saturday 9th July 2022 9.30pm googled best cafe in Hastings popped up Great Drove 10min to experience the rude person who done a "cut throat signal" No explanation just pure rudeness, clearly tables free ,but not in the slightest time frame for booking Food make have 5☆ But that can never out way politeness

First impressions are great, lots of interesting things to look at inside the restaurant and the owners have a great image. The food is beautifully presented, tastes fantastic and the flavour combinations are a lovely mix of the classic and innovative fusions. Our favourite breakfast destination and we look forward to trying the daytime menu too. Highly recommended.

If you’re looking for a perfect breakfast or lunch place then look no further! One of the best cafes we've been to. The food is amazing, including lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Amazing place with special 'home like' atmosphere. We've been twice already while on holiday and will be returning. Special mention to salmon benedicts and curd cheese & custard crepes. Yum!
