Non-Inclusive Rude Host & Environment. Avoid! We attempted to get a table, clearly ones were available, couple in front hadn’t booked but were seated fine, we were told they were fully booked, assume as we had hoodies on due to cold weather!

My wife took me here for a birthday treat lunch. Friendly & efficient service. It's a nice place to sit with only a few tables. We both had starters & a main & a glass of decent house white. Portions were generous - in fact we could have shared my salmon rillette starter & it would have been enough. I had fish & chips - cod today - & the fish was beautifully cooked with a crispy batter. The chips were too chunky for my taste & could have been crispier. My wife said her plaice was very good if a little too oily. When (not if) we go back I'll either order 2 starters or just a main.

Super friendly service and the best calamari in East Sussex by a country mile. Delicious, every time. Definitely one not to miss.

Stumbled across this little restaurant today… we were lucky to get the last table left. We had a wonderful meal, both having fish and chips , the cod was so fresh and delicate. Puddings we’re yummy especially the sticky toffee pudding. A great find and reasonably priced. Would definitely return.

lunch at rock a more kitchen today was absolutely delicious. the beetroot salmon and calamari starters were beautifully prepared and full of flavour. our mains of scollop risotto and the day special of skate were both exceptional dishes, ingredients are locally sourced and bursting with flavour and freshness. The white house wine was delicious and reasonably priced. This was our first visit to this small friendly restaurant but if will definitely not be our last. If you are visiting Hastings the Rock a Nore kitchen is an absolute must

Delicious food, good portions and a beautiful menu on an ever changing chalk board!

We managed to get the last table at lunchtime table today, and I can honestly say it’s the best meal I have had in any restaurant for a number of months. We started with the potted crab and whitebait, followed by Plaice and samphire butter sauce and Cod Sicilian Caponata, all perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious, service and everything was perfect. Highly recommend and will 100% be back soon…

Lovely little restaurant with great fresh fish that was really well cooked, I had the Dover sole served with delicious vegetables . Homemade chocolate torte for pudding and reasonably priced wine, will definitely be returning.

You’re by the sea and in your head you dream of a quaint fish restaurant serving delicious plates and great service looking at the waves rolling in…well you’ve found it. We were lucky enough to secure a table for Sunday lunch and watched the two chefs prepare the most delicious fresh calamari, sole with a shrimp butter sauce and scallop risotto. A must if you visit Hastings, for me a meal that will be remembered, just perfect. Thank you team Rock a Nore Kitchen

Absolutely delighted we found this place by chance and managed to get the last open table they had! We went with my disabled son and the waitress was immensely kind and inclusive to him and made the whole experience wonderful!

Fantastic fish restaurant - the mackerel was wonderfully fresh and cooked to perfection. Lots of other nice things on the menu so will be heading back soon.

A really good fish restaurant with catches from local Hastings fishing boats landed on the shingle beach nearby. I had butterflied mackerel in a delicious tomato sauce, that was great.

The food and service were truly great. We traveled from Dartford to look around the area and picked this restaurant based on good reviews. We were n’t disappointed! The staff were all very attentive and friendly. It was very clean inside the restaurant and cosy. We ordered a variety of meals to please all and really enjoyed it. Thank you!

We had the most delicious meal cooked by owner Chef Fods. We ordered a calamari starter which was divine. Our main courses were the roasted salmon, grilled Hake , and a Caesar salad with prawns, chicken and bacon . The service was excellent. Diane was so knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommended 10/10. Thank You for an excellent meal.

Great location. Great food. Kitchen staff work extremely hard in the searing heat. I feel like I should give a bottle of water to the kitchen staff for their efforts.

Tiny little restaurant, mainly seafood. The food was excellent. We had fish &chips which were amazing, my husband had the Gorgonzola risotto, which was unbelievable if you’re a cheese lover. The selection of fish was really terrific and all the other dishes we saw served up, looked really lovely. And we also had elderberry soda, which was delicious. Bill was £42 Would highly recommend if you love freshly cooked seafood.

Great food. We all loved pretty much everything we tried. The smoked seafood platter was a great way to start the meal, the cockles were delicious and I loved my seafood linguine and pannacotta. However we all agreed that the ceviche was way below standard. Several things were wrong with that dish. The fish was too thick, the sauce was too sweet and it was missing the citrusy and spicy flavour that is present in a ceviche. The lack of the leche the tigre unbalanced the dish. It was the only dish we actually did not finish.

Friendly staff and a great welcome, shown to the table and the menu is on the wall, fish is the main stable, and there are some quirks. The portions are generous, whitebait and chips was really good, the chips were “chunky” and a lot of them. One member of the party had prawn scallops Caesar salad, a great take on an original salad. Two others went for the scallop risotto, this was great. We did not have room for deserts and that is a new feeling. Nice wine list

went a year ago and about to go again - such a lovely place and the people so very friendly. Food fantastic. We live in London but occasionally go to Hastings / Battle. Can't wait to revisit the restaurant - Nicole and I had a meal - great - £200 in St Johns Wood last night - would have preferred Rock a More Kitchen for the food and totally unpretentious atmosphere.

We ended up at Rock A Nore Kitchen for a late lunch having missed out on a table at a chippy across the way - pleased to say we were not at all disappointed! The restaurant is cosy and felt as if we were sitting in a cave: not a bad thing that day as it was a welcome respite away from being out in the bright sunshine. Dishes were fresh and cooked to order: whole plaice was perfectly cooked; mackerel with heritage tomatoes was a tad overdone but tasty nonetheless. The accompanying sides of vegetables were generous and seasonal with the inclusion of asparagus a nice touch. Will look to return for dinner next time.

Simple menu involving fresh fish from the best fishmonger around, really well done in a friendly comfortable restaurant. We'll be back.

It's a nice place but the chips are the worst I've ever had , the fish and chips are bad because of the chips there dry no taste and don't resemble chips , how can you get such a simple thing so wrong , the waiter removed the beer off the menu which was nice but come on guys these are the basics

Amazing food and staff! A very warm welcome on arrival, followed by outstanding service from the lovely lady who was in charge. She was absolutely wonderful and the food was incredible. Fresh produce straight from the beach. A must visit.

We accidentally found this plaice after walking past the restaurant that we had booked and it was well worth it. Very friendly and accommodating host and really great food and drink, top notch. Really fresh hake, cod, Dover sole, scallops, crab and the 6 spoon chocolate torte was to die for. Recommended, probably need to book!

Service is very bad, hostess/waitress was very rude. The kitchen also smells disgusting, don’t think they change cooking oil very often!

Excellent lunch, we have been here twice and both times the food has been fantastic both in terms of taste and presentation. Location is good right next to the museums and aquarium so it makes a good place to take family and friends who are visiting Hastings. Had the special which was skate wing, capers, cockles and samphire which was cooked very well. The one point which would be a useful addition would be if there was a high chair, as not having one with a toddler makes eating awkward, however the waitress was very patient with our two young children and we were still made to feel welcome.

This was our second visit, the food is of excellent quality and the lady serving was very good, We had the cod and chips and I must say it was fantastic, The only issue I had was it was very loud in there due to the venue being quite small and how busy it was but will defiantly be returning.

Adore this place, the best food in the old town! Always a clean plate with everyone I’ve taken (even the fussy ones 😂)

Ate here yesterday with a friend, and we were both amazed at the quality of the food and service. We both ordered the Panaché of steamed fish in a saffron sauce...so delicious, really good portions, beautifully and quickly served on a hot plate. The waiter was friendly and efficient. I can't recommend you highly enough...a rare treat! Thank you so much.

A small restaurant offering a very good seafood menu. The place is small so it’s best to book, we’ve eaten here before so on this trip to Hastings it was top of the list to eat here again. The food was excellent and as the place is pretty small it provides a pleasant dining experience. We will be back.

We enjoyed a delightful Sunday lunch in mid-December. Indulged in delicious, hassle-free cuisine—each dish and side dish nicely cooked and bursting with flavour. The unassuming fish and chips presented with a plump, flaky fillet of fish that had been swimming in the sea just a few hours earlier.The friendly service added to the overall positive experience. What a gem! We look forward to returning for more culinary delights.

Located in a great spot and has a rest and a take away hatch. There was two chefs trying to serve both in a very small kitchen. I opted for the calamari and chips as a take away, an extra portion of chips and Prosecco. As is was takaway I had expected the Prosecco to be mini bottles but was served in disposable glasses. I perhaps should have checked this before hand as it made it tricky to carry! The calamari and chips was given in a lidded box. However, they handed the chips in an open tray. It was never going to be possible to carry that, I was on my own which they knew! I asked for a box for the chips which he kindly did. He didn’t seal the box for me and in the wind and rain it was tricky to do outside. There’s a lot of seagulls in Hastings so an open tray would never be ideal. Food they were serving to the restaurant looked really good and I looked forward to my food. Unfortunately, the food was really disappointing. The calamari was inedible and the chips weren’t great either. There’s was some black chips that looked like they had been in fryer a while stuck in the basket and finally fallen out. I definitely would not return, which is a shame as I love seafood.

This is a great little restaurant and one of the best places in Hastings for seafood. We've dined here several times and it's always been most enjoyable. Most recently was lunch last week when we had cod caponata (cod loin with roast vegetables and caponata) and a scallop risotto. Both were excellent. If you don't want a sit-down meal they also serve fish & chips, whitebait and calamari to take away. These are also first rate, so Rock a Nore has become our go-to place in Hastings for fish & chips. My 5 year old grand daughter highly recommends the calamari. The restaurant is just opposite the fisherman's museum where there's a small open space and you can sit on an old anchor to eat your fish & chips. Highly recommended, but you'll need to book if you want to eat at busy times because it's a small place.

absolutely disguisting chips, clearly second fresh, returned with complain to the counter and all the guy had to say was: ‚ok’. well, it was not ‚ok’. not recommended.

Very nice small restaurant in old Hastings. I had Potted Crab to start followed by the day’s special which was Skate for my wife and the Place for me. We washed it down with a very nice Pinot Grigio and rounded off with a home made Eccles Cake with Cheddar cheese and a glass of port. Great service and lovely food, we highly recommend this restaurant.

The two of us ate here a few weeks ago. We were lucky enough to get the last table on a Saturday evening, and can't rate it highly enough. The menu is almost entirely fish based, and I would guess changes daily - depending on what is caught locally, It is right opposite the fishing beach. The fish was extremely fresh - so therefore delicious - and very simply, but expertly cooked. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food just wonderful. We'll definitely be returning. A hidden gem for fish lovers. Highly recommended.

Much more than a fish & chip shop (as described on Google), this small and cosy restaurant is a little gem in Hastings. Simply and lovingly cooked delicious fresh fish and seafood dishes, wonderful service and an ambient atmosphere. I will definitely be back for more.

Outstanding little private restaurant. Service was impeccable and the chalkboard menu did not disappoint (I've every faith it changes with the days catch!). We had scallops and potted crab to start, rack of lamb and hake for mains and panna cotta and chocolate torte for dessert. Everything was delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough, but BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. It's a very small place (25 covers as far as I could tell) so I can imagine walk ins get lucky very often. The bill was not cheap, but we were happy to pay for the quality we received. We'll be back for sure.

Absolutely first class In all area's. My wife and I love to seek out interesting and exciting place's to eat. We love seafood especially when the chef is as talented and passionate as we experienced this afternoon. Large, perfection, scallops beautifully presented and pan fried with care. Main course; seared salmon fillet with seasonal vegetables with a creamy hollandaise sauce. Perfection 🥰 We felt full, but then our waitress offered us a selection of delicious desserts..ok one to share. A lovely light Eaton mess to finish us off. We will be back! So worth the trip. (Will need to book in advance for evening meal).

Amazing very fresh food. We had the cod and chips, the fish was delicious, the breading and the quality of oil was perfect, very yummy chips and tartar sauce, highly recommend this place if you want to taste quality fresh fish.

We were lucky enough to get a table for lunch at short notice. Our server was very warm and helpful and we thought the food was fabulous and not expensive for the quality. We have always wanted to eat here and it didn’t disappoint. We can’t wait to return next time we’re visiting Hastings.

We came here not knowing what to expect. However, looking at the quality of the food served and how good it tasted. I can definitely recommend this place. We'll definitely visit again.

Excellent waitress service. Really nice calm and attentive lady, went through the menu and wine with us to pick out the best options for us. Best fish and flavours I have ever tasted in my life. A cosy and friendly little kitchen, just a perfect evening. No doubt, would definitely want to come back. Thank-you all for a wonderful experience.

Still one of my favourite restaurants.

The older chef was handling a raw duck meat and without washing his hands he started to put chips onto the plate and our take away tray. When questioned he replied “I’ve been doing this for only 40 years”. When I asked for fresh portion as he was handling them with the same hands he asked another person to give me money back. It’s a shame as seafood there looked fresh but his understanding of health and safety needs refreshing. The other chef was very apologetic though.

We couldn’t get a table but bought take away cod / white bait + chips. Excellent quality and will definitely book a table next time!

First time here a couple of weeks ago. We were disappointed. Smell of frying oil throughout. The potted crab wasn't nice, very bland and wet. Frozen? Service was good though and they accommodated my slight change to a main course that I ordered.

Great quality seafood, big portions and very reasonable price for the area. Fish cooked v well and chips seemed home made and not too greasy. Small restaurant but very clean and cosy inside. Friendly service.

We had a fantastic fish lunch, which was great value for money and one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Just pop in while on a visit to Hastings for a birthday afternoon tea and luckily got a table for two. All the food was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious.

Really brilliant little place right by the East Lift. We had 3 taster dishes and the fish and chips which were all great. Lovely ambience and only about 6/7 tables. We did feel a bit rushed towards the end our lunch, aside from that, all good.

Wow!! This place isn’t big but oh my goodness! Great ambience, friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of dishes on the menu - most of which are based on locally caught fish. I had the mackerel with tomatoes and cannolini beans - it was so tasty. I ended up having the panacotta for desert - absolutely perfect. A great place to eat - will go again.
