The Bell Inn in Chichester

Exceptional food and service This my third visit and it's a place I know I can come and the food is amazing. Highly recommend popping in for a meal with the family.

Holidaying at Yarpole and took our dog to the secure dog field up the road, we looked for a pub for lunch. We hit really lucky with this pub, dog friendly, amazing food, best meal we've had in a while, everything seasoned beautifully. Our only huge disappointment is not staying in the area long enough to fit in another meal here.

Just when you think the bar can’t get raised any higher for a Sunday Roast, that is, until you go to the Bell Inn, OMG, plenty of food on the plate and veggies to one side, we were both stuffed by the end of this beautiful roast, that we had to squeeze a pudding in, which was equally as good, my cherry frangipani was delish, and my partners crumble was moorish. It’s worth noting that if, like my partner, you like your beef well done they offer this as a service, just ask your server. Only downside is the parking, it’s a little bit crazy, but please do not let that put you off the best roast in Herefordshire so far.

Decided to come back here after quite a time away. It was my wife's birthday celebration and just the 2 of us. Food was superb and promptly served. I had breaded brie, fish and chips and panacotta for dessert. My wife had garlic mushrooms, duck and Mars bar Cheesecake for dessert. Food was well presented, hot and delicious. The atmosphere was a low hum of friendly chatter and never too loud. Only one minor negative, my wife ordered a drink which never arrived but was promptly brought to our table after asking for it again. No drama really but in a night of positives it stood out. Price was more than other places we've eaten at but less than others and considering we had 3 courses and a few drinks it was around what we expected to pay. We won't leave it 10+ years to return next time. A memorable evening for sure.

Amazing service and an excellent Sunday lunch. The beef perfectly cooked to each of our friend's liking. No squidgy frozen veg here, all freshly prepared and tasty. Every member of staff cheerful and attentive. Excellent value for money. We will be back !

I went with family and highly recommend the roast dinner

We picked this pub randomly as it was just out of town and had good reviews. The moment we walked in, we received a glowing smile from the lady behind the bar. All the girls who I think may be the daughters of this family run pub, were amazing. The food was absolutely top notch, the atmosphere was awesome, the quality of the pub was amazing. Just go there, you will not be disappointed.

It’s very unusual to come across a pub where everything is just right! The service was exceptional throughout the meal, starting with - “Sorry to interrupt but could I take your drinks order”. The menu looked interesting. The six of us all had something different and no one was disappointed with their choice. We’d definitely go again if we lived nearer but it’s a long way from Dorset!

Staying locally for a couple of days and went on hosts recommendation. Arrived at 6 on a Wednesday evening to find it very busy but we were found a table quickly. Service was very good. Drinks arrived quickly, food followed which was fresh and tasty. Finished with coffee in the garden. We would definitely go back and thoroughly recommend them.

Very dissapointing sunday lunch.Everything seemed like microwaved ready meals.No kitchen smells at all in pub.At£17.50 each not value for money.The service was very good.

I often go to the Bell, as it’s such a fun vibe and good food. However today I had the best meal I’ve had anywhere for a long time. It was the Gunpowder Chicken curry! I swapped the potatoes for rice, oh my goodness, it was all so delicious ….. can’t wait to have it again!

I've been visiting here for many many years, but I'm sorry to say lately its been disappointing compared to what it used to be. Fishcakes were mostly egg and kind of omelette like, chips were frenchfries and.quite well done, coleslaw was tasteless and just came across as cream with cabbage 😒 service was great, but sorry, but it's a no from me.

Absolutely great country pub for food or just a drink. Service was fantastic and the food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back many times.

Been visiting for a night in the area and decided to pop over for a drink with my partner. Warm welcome and lovely assistance with finding a table to sit even though it was pretty much full. Great atmosphere with lots of chatter, but not overwhelming. Quiet music in the background. Lovely locals. Will be back if we're visiting again. 😊👍

Just had Sunday lunch for 3 it was fantastic ,cooked to perfection and the service was polite and very helpful thank you so much we will be coming back very soon. Highly recommend The Bell Inn.

The food was nice but very basic for the price, I had the pie which came with frozen chips and peas, for that price it should have come with mash, 3 fresh veg and a nice rich gravy.

Amazing food, the best open steak sandwich I’ve ever had. Steak was cooked perfectly and not chewy, very generous portion sizes too. Love that dogs are welcome in the bar area, and they have a lovely garden area. Will definitely return if I’m in the area again.

One of my favourite places in herefordshire. First came here 8 years ago on a lunch date, we are still regular lunch time visitors. The open sandwiches are amazing and seemed to of had a tweek lately making them even nicer! The bar staff are always friendly and helpful. There's always a good beer on tap and a good choice of gin.

Delicious food in a beautiful pub, a really warm welcome too. It is so nice to find really good vegetarian options that aren't risotto or goat cheese based! Can't wait to come back

Good country pub atmosphere and the youngster's who served us we cheerful and looked after us extremely well especially as they were extremely busy (ie the Saturday before Christmas). Also a big thanks to the guys doing the gard work in the kitchen! Happy Christmas !

Mediterranean vegetable tart was beautiful. Mars bar cheesecake a little rich but tasty.

Visited Sunday 2 July 2023 for an afternoon drink! Car park full, had to use the overflow. People leaving of all ages, all happy and content. Went into bar area, all empty tables cleaned, staff were very welcoming, friendly and polite - and very busy tidying and cleaning as people left. Coming back for a meal on Wednesday evening 😋

Have not been here in a long while but glad I popped in. Food was outstanding and the service & welcome was great. The outside seating/eating area was lovely but quickly filled up. Probably could do with a few more benches for these summer months. Will definitely be back 👍👍👍

Quite pricey for food. Starters were very nice. Some of the main courses were overpriced for what they were. Steak in the pie was very salty.

Been meeting two ex colleagues for lunch here on a regular basis for 6 or 7 years. Lunch today was excellent as always.

This place was fantastic great selection of drinks and great service the duck was exceptionally cooked to perfection couldn't knock the food. Me and my party couldn't fault the place. Will definitely be visiting agian.

The Bell Inn is a great local pub that ticks all the boxes. It has a nice selection of drinks (including one of the most refreshing Staropramen pints I've ever had), serves delicious food (the focaccia is a must-try) and its dog-friendly which is nice. Plus, it's a great spot to watch the rugby on their large projector. Overall, a must-visit if you're in the area!

A lovely pub, never been there before but heard it was good, and it was good. The waiting staff were young, but very efficient, hard working and you could have a laugh with them. The food was smashing, not cheap, but in this case you get what you pay for. The ambiance of the pub was friendly, sometimes when you go into a country pub it can be a little daunting with everyone looking at you, but here you feel one of the crowd. Definitely going back.

Had a very tasty meal and well presented. Although it was busy lunch time we were served promptly. The front of house was pleasant and professional and helped me make great choice on my vegetarian meal, nice menu to choose from. Just fancied something meat free and The pasta dish I had was perfect.

I made a last minute enquiry as was let down by other restaurant. Glenn replied promptly and we duely arrived. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food and drinks were perfect. Will definitely be returning!

Lovely light lunch - onion rings and chips, was absolutely gorgeous and the service is impeccable here, lovely group of ladies who are very assertive and are doing a fantastic job, they make the pub that extra bit amazing. 10/10 would recommend

I've been going to The Bell for years, recently someone told me it has gone down hill a bit, after my recent visit I have to agree. They used to do an open steak and open chill chicken sandwich which were both amazing, also both now off the menu and after today I see why. I had the steak sandwich as I expected it to be the same quality, it was in fact very, very disappointing. It was absolutely pilled with red onions, way too much, probably to cover up the fact that there was hardly any steak on it at all. What little was there was so fatty it was inedible. I felt entirely ripped off after paying the best part of £17 for a few chips, 3 fatty bits of steak and a bit of bread. I'm done with the place after that, absolutely terrible.

A really great place to go for either or drink or especially for their food. The food is of superb quality and also of very generous portions. The service was also good and plenty of parking, I highly recommend this place for a visit!

Love it!! We have just moved into Burghill and we are thrilled to have found this wonderful pub! We have visited for Sunday lunch for the last 3 weeks 😁 The staff are so polite and professional. The food has been consistently good and hot, delicious Sunday roast, fresh vegetables, perfect gravy and succulent meats. Proper roasties and the Yorkshire pudding doesn't dissapoint either! Beautifully served deserts too. We have recently tried another local pub but nothing compares to the Bell Inn in my opinion! I'm a fan! Thanks! Hayley and family 😁

Lovely staff. Food is solid/good for a pub (above average but not gastro-pub quality, and that is fine given the reasonable prices) - vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly. Nice ambience to the place both in formal dining area and the less formal bar-room. Easy to get to and parking is excellent. Looks like it has a great outdoor seating area, which I am yet to try.

Had a meal out with my parents who have been coming to this pub for many years. Absolutely faultless dinner and service. Had the crisp y beef as a starter - Great textures with a real sense of heat after eating it Pork loin main - Best I’ve experienced in a long while - Generous portion that was soft and moist and served with an excellent crisped crackling - The dauphinoise potatoes & veg were great, too. Finished with the mars bar cheesecake - sweet but so tasty. Best meal out I’ve had in a long time - Thoroughly recommend this place.

We booked a table yesterday by email which was quick and easy and arrived a bit early to be greeted at the bar and taken straight to our table. The menu was excellent and covered both our tastes. Proper Beef roast and a veggie curry. Both meals were delicious, the staff were attentive and pleasant. We couldn't manage pudding so we might have to go back later in the week to try those

My return visit to The Bell having previously been a regular, was most disappointing and ruined a family reunion, family having travelled many miles on my recommendations . Tables were cramped, chairs uncomfortable, room dreary lit and airless. The food was basic, of poor quality and not as described on the menu. Steak burger tasted like regular mince not steak mince, honey roast ham was tasteless and fatty, vegetarian and vegan choices limited. The piece-de-resistance chips tasting like they were frozen, shop bought and under-cooked oven chips. Staff appeared robotic and disinterested. Whilst paying I was asked if everything was ok, my reply of no it was all average and a disappointment was totally ignored. In all, low quality and high prices. The Bell appears to be living off their past reputation created by the innovative late owner Jackie. We will not return.

Even though it was a busy evening and we hadn't made a booking were shown to a table. Having just moved house that day it was a relief to be able to sit down and enjoy a lovely meal in an pleasant environment. We will definitely be back once we have settled in.

A great pub with fabulous food!

I feel very fortunate to live so close to such a wonderful pub. From the friendly, accommodating staff to the divine food, I've never had anything but a wonderful experience. We visit regularly, sometimes for a quiet drink in the bar with our dog or for a family dinner. Whatever the time, a table is always found for us. The roast dinner is always perfectly cooked with a wonderful variety of fresh vegetables and generous portion. They even have my favourite beer on tap, Blue Moon; a rear find! Would recommend for couples, friends, families and celebrations a like!

Only stopped for a drink mid bike ride this time but have eaten here before and the food has always been excellent and staff always seem friendly and efficient. The pub is currently up for sale so I hope the new owners maintain the high standard it currently has.

Absolutely superb pub, beautiful garden, very friendly staff and a fabulous menu. Currently on holiday in Herefordshire and it’s the first pub we have found this week with vegan options and the food was excellent. Dog friendly, highly recommend.

Very friendly service, food average, some elements were good!

Sat outside with our Gordon Setter, lovely outdoor space, lovely staff, great food with proper servings of veg that you can count towards your five a day (hooray), and a mars bar cheese cake that was scrummy! Lots of dog water bowls and a tap.
