Gorgeous food and view of fields with horse in distance. Dog friendly. Compact toilet with ill fitting seat. Loos are clean, with paper, but tatty. Apparently the peaa are crushed and not mussy and are not availble uncrushed with fish and chips.

Lovely village pub, serving great food, with views from the terrace, which we enjoyed whilst having a pre lunch drink. We went for Sunday lunch following a circular walk from Jevington, taking in Butts Brow on the way. Interesting choice of starters (scotch egg with a delicious chutney and a beetroot and burrata salad) followed by a very good roast beef and roast chicken with all the trimmings (well we had been on a good walk!). Excellent service, even on a busy lunchtime - highly recommend.

I've known this pub for over 40 years, and it's currently the best it's ever been. It's always had superb views and lots of potential, and usually had decent beer - now it's also got genuinely excellent food as well. The hot scotch eggs were perfect, the mushroom and chestnut soup one of the best mushroom soups I've ever had. Zero complaints - and dog friendly too, meaning the atmosphere is instantly more friendly and fun with lots of muddy paws and waggy tails.

First time visiting the Eight Bells with my parents who have visited pre pandemic. They were impressed with the decoration and beer garden, it was all very nicely done. Been looking for a knockout Sunday roast pub nearby for a long time and this is it. Had the roast beef and every element was perfectly executed which is very rare. Beef was clearly high quality, roast potatoes freshly out the oven, veg very fresh and yorkshire puddings stuffed with beef ragu were a stroke of genius. We arrived at midday for a drink before our booking half an hour later and we were the only ones there, then within half an hour the place was FULL. They were fully booked all the way up to 6pm serving roasts. Service deserves a mention, really friendly staff all clearly motivated by the great things being done in this pub thats had a new lease of life. The only negative were the toilets, which while immaculately clean and hygienic, clearly were the part of the pub left behind in the renovation. Would be great to see them up to the standard of the rest of the pub. Book a table here in advance, its brilliant.

Lovely pub and helpful staff , just wish the “banoffee pie” which was invented in Jevington wasn’t a “deconstruction”. Or had to be explained to me when i had the look of shock on my face . i was very disappointed with this aspect and hope that tourists that want to go to the land where this dessert was invented dont get the disappointment i did . Family Sunday lunch for 5. This is our third time to visit, but I haven't written any reviews yet. I was suprised about the 4.6 review score as thought it should be around 4.8+. We were very satisfied with the food and the service. I felt great team work vibes from the waiters and waitresses. We had sunday roast, which never disappoint here. Happy to pay higher price for this quality, also gluten free meals and gluten free options on the menu are second to none. The fish and chips was great too, my fussy daughter finished hers as the fish was beautifully white. She was also chuffed with ice cream toppings varieties. My favourite was the Goat cheese starter. Divine! Lovely latte to finish the experience with. Will return very soon!

Place came highly recommended so disappointed after very poor Xmas Eve lunch for family. The positives were that the kids were happy with burgers and fish and chips (even if chip’s were not home made). The lunches were poor. Dried up turkey roll (supermarket would’ve been better). Tiny portions of overcooked carrots and cremated sprouts. A very nice jus….enjoyed all 3 teaspoons of it! Speciality banoffee pie was a joke. A banana on top of some crumbled biscuits and banoffee ice cream. Being seated crammed next to the toilets was unpleasant. Service was excellent though but not enough to make up for a poor meal at high prices.

Great place to eat, took the guys out on our Christmas work do / meal. Six of us had the scotch eggs which where amazing, the yolk was just right inside and cooked perfectly. One of the guys had the soup which he said was really nice as well. I had fish and chips which perfect not to much batter and just the right size, chips are great as well. Others had burgers that where packed and a great size. One of the guys had a festive type meal that they described as being the best meal out they have had for a long time. Couple of us had dessert which was equally delicious and and had a slightly different spin on how we thought they where going top come out. Atmosphere is great and cosy for winter meal out, staff attentive and on the ball. If you get the round wobbly table which we did there's a reason why its wobbly so don't worry there's a story behind it as well aside from what its worth.

Totally disagree with a recent review about the food. I also had the Oxtail main meal and must say that I've never had anything so bad in a pub before. It didn't resemble oxtail at all. Was more like some processed pulled beef thing wrapped around goodness knows what. and tasted of vinegar. Veg very sparse. Accompanying spinach was so dry it was crispy probably from sitting under a warmer for too long. Sorry I was not impressed. Won't be going back. It was also overpriced. We also had to sit in the tent/marquee which was at least warm but atmosphere? = 0 out of 10. It's a shame this place has gone down hill since it's new ownership. Parking is also very limited. Edit - (In response to pubs response)- This is the description of the meal taken directly from your website - "BRAISED OXTAIL with Boudin Blanc, creamed cabbage, truffle and creamed potato (GF) " No mention of wrapping anything around anything else. No mention of Roasting the veg. Please forgive my ignorance for not knowing what Boudin Blanc is. I'll know better next time. Please also forgive my comments about the marquee, I was aware that it was booked. And I agree that must be useful for dog walkers etc.

Overall we did enjoy our meal however the roast beef was a let down, over cooked, quite a lot of fat round it & not that melt in the mouth texture that it should have been. Expected far better for the £24 price. The rest of the roast however was spot on, the filled yorkies were something different & all the veg very tasty. We had a side of cauliflower cheese which was good & the gravy was excellent. I made the mistake of not checking the wine menu before ordering so was a bit surprised when my pinot grigio came on the bill at £11 for a large glass as that is usually the cheaper of the wine options. It was however an enjoyable glass off wine. I would certainly recommend here & we will be back.

Very nice place, quiet location and the place was peaceful even when busy. Not a cheap pub, but I'd go again. Had to knock a star for the plastic cups. It's my only criticism but it's a fairly big one IMO. It's a country pub not a night club, but maybe I'm missing something; Why does everybody outside have to have their drink served in a plastic cup?! Guinness for example put a lot of research in to perfecting their glass for maximum product enjoyment, and it's being served in a plastic cup for just shy of £6 a pint like it's Glastonbury, which is a shame. Aside from that great pub.

We went for lunch on Sunday and it was so amazing. The food, service and atmosphere are on point and will be going back again soon!

Having promised ourselves a visit, we finally got there today. We were not disappointed, the Sunday Roast (we both had beef), was tremendous. The staff were attentive and really pleasant. We will be going back and taking the family.

Really lovely pub who went out of their way to accommodate our large group booking at short notice on a Saturday afternoon. Impeccable service and hospitality. The food was great and reasonably priced. The backroom marquee was cute with a huge trestle table.

Food was absolutely fantastic, we both had a roast and we were both very impressed. The team were amazing from our initial greeting to our farewell. A special mention go out to George & Freddie, they were great and helped us with anything we needed....

A bit on the expensive side for what we had for lunch but tasty and staff really friendly.

What a treat to eat lovely food overlooking fields with animals in them. This has improved tremendously since it was taken over and I'm sure this is much appreciated. A good meal was had by all of us.
