Stumbled across here after our table elsewhere wasn’t ready way after we’d booked and it was exactly what we were looking for. Cosy with a table next to the fire, we had a lovely roast and a burger. Service was friendly too. Made even better with a dog next to our table :)

This pub is a wonderful find! Our second visit in a couple of weeks! Both Sunday dinners were fab!! We are often in the area in the summer as we have a caravan close by. This is definitely going to be a new favourite!! The staff were super polite and provided great service , the food great , red wine was lovely!! And it’s dog friendly! We are booked for 2 weeks time… going to sample a Friday menu next!

Well, old pub, young waiters without any real ambition - and unfortunately the food wasn't particularly good. The beef was unfortunately very tough - and the beer crust on the cod fish was thicker than the fish itself. The prices are certainly still reasonable, but I had expected more in terms of flavour and quality, even though our landlady (B&B) had raved so much about the Red Lion.

Myself and my partner had Sunday lunch at the Red Lion 11th August. We were served by a very polite young lady, Ava. Ava was super polite and helpful. She brought our drinks out promptly and was more visible than the other waiting staff. The food there is really tasty and lovely atmosphere. We’ll definitely be going again. My only criticism is that the menue on their webpage isn’t up to date as it’s only a “sample menu” though we enjoyed the food, it was the on line menu which made us want to go. It would be beneficial if this was current as it could be the difference between people going there or not.

We went there for a family dinner, having made a table reservation earlier that day. The pub is full of rustic charm, with a decent menu, offering a number of dishes, both typical pub fare and others somewhat more sophisticated. The service was friendly and the food really quite good. However, for the more clinical eye, you quickly understand that the pub (especially the toilets) need some serious TLC to be able to attract the more discerning diner. Overall, a good experience, but not inexpensive by any stretch of the imagination. We're talking over 40 pounds per person with wines.

Just had the most beautiful Sunday roast at this stunning village pub. The staff were very friendly and very efficient we only waited 5 minutes to be served and the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. REALLY enjoyed our meals but cannot believe we didn't take pictures of our actual food lol. Honey boy had the pork medallions and I had the fish and chips - as a former chippy owner I must say the batter was on point! Atmosphere is lovely, staff is lovely. My ONLY criticism would be that there's hand sanitizers in pump bottles on the tables - which look like possibly olive oil or balsamic lol so I wonder how many people have inadvertently pumped hand sanitizer in their food lol lol. But honestly one of the nicest pubs we've been to, the sticky toffee pudding was fantastic and we will definitely go back - highly recommend a visit :)

It’s been a little while since I’ve written a review and this establishment definitely warranted one. I’ve come to the Red Lion on a number of occasions but I haven’t actually eaten here before. It would seem I was mistaken not to have done so much earlier. The atmosphere is amazing. Quiet and extremely relaxing setting the mood for a very pleasant evening. The staff are friendly, efficient and very professional and I couldn’t fault them in any way. They were very helpful and made me feel at home immediately and this really set the standard for the rest of the evening. The menu, although not extremely large, covered many tastes and would satisfy most people. I ordered one of the summer specials, the Greek Pork Koftas, which arrived swiftly and looked amazing. Wonderfully, it tasted even better, along with the Greek salad and the fries which both complemented the dish very well. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and couldn’t find anything to fault it, it was excellent. I had what I thought would be a standard blackberry and apple crumble with custard for my desert. It was anything but standard. The crumble was pretty much perfect and the fruit was just tarts enough. The homemade custard with vanilla pods was just amazing, and I will say that although the main meal filled me up, the desert did not make feel like I had over-eaten. I truly believe that if you want a wonderful night out in with a brilliant atmosphere, excellent staff and food that will leave satisfied and very pleased with your choice, then you should try this place for yourself, you will not be disappointed. Ah well, enough rambling on. Try it for yourself and you will probably find yourself writing a similar review

Has heard about this place from friends and wasn’t disappointed. The lounge was warm and welcoming by virtue of a lovely log fire (so many places seem cold at the moment). Each table has a lovely candle making for a cosy ambiance. The food was excellent. Tasty, fresh, lovely ingredients and well presented with being pretentious. We had the Muscadet wine which was excellent and reasonably priced. The service was without fault and the owners on multiple occasions asked how things were going. Plus dog friendly (thank you!). Stopped here after a 3 hour drive and ordered 2 'latte' coffees (£3 each). They arrived in doll's house cups with half of the drink slopped in the saucers. Absolutely vile - tasted identical to a sachet of ready-sweetened Aldi economy coffee to which hot water had been added (when asked the waitress said it was 'pod coffee machine' but I've never had pod coffee which leaves sugar granules in the bottom of the cup). If you can't afford a coffee machine use instant such as Millicano and buy a £50 milk frother - infinitely nicer as your current coffee is shameful (if I wanted sugar I would add myself). And for goodness sake, shut the door to the staff area - felt like sitting in a force 9 gale. Zero stars for the coffee but left a 2 star review as the staff were okay and the ladies toilets clean (husband less impressed with the mens). Food looked good but after the coffee we didn't feel like eating with you. Such a nice-looking pub; you could do so much better - either serve half-decent coffee or take it off the menu.

We came here on a recommendation on a Thursday 2.00 pm lunch treat. Unfortunately it wasn’t great from the start, there wasn’t any heating apart from a struggling log burner and an electric portable, which by the way we managed to sit at the table two feet away and still debated about putting our coats back on. I ordered the roast turkey , which I was told straight away that it was turkey roll not slices of breast but I was fine with that. When it arrived it was two slices of turkey, four parsnips and a small sweet potato, hardly enough for a child, it was tasty but disappointing. So on to desert… we were both going to order the banoffee pie as it’s one of our favourites but after discussing it with the waitress and hearing that it actually came what she called “ deconstructed “ crushed biscuit in one area ice cream on another and a caremelised banana to one side.. hardly banoffee pie as I know and love we opted out and went for the crumble.. can’t go wrong with crumble we thought.. oh dear got that wrong .. who leaves the skins on the pears when making a crumble.. it’s as if the chef is changing the recipe just for the sake of it when not necessary.its a pub not fu fu restaurant.sorry didn’t take any photos.wont be returning but after this review I expect they won’t want us back.

Stayed here for a long weekend and it is really amazing. I didn't know that Queen Elizabeth II was friends with the family and stayed here often. Didn't get the Windsor suite but never the less a really lovely stay in a beautiful hotel. Grounds are great and area really good for beautiful villages. Food very good as is wine. I found the wine selection limited but not really complaining as they were good wines. Our room was at top of hotel but there is a lift so if you have a problem with stairs use the lift. Room very comfortable and great view.
